Then if 2 other people help that would be great.
I could probably get on to help you at around 10-10:15 if you want.

I didn't see this till now and I have to work early tomorrow so I am heading off to bed but if you guys can't get Sean boosted tonight I can help tomorrow night.

I should be able to get on tonight around 10-10:30 EST. It would be great if we could get Sean his Legend card before the next season starts (tonight at midnight). That way we can just focus on club games and see who the new group for next month's playoffs is going to be.

I might be able to play tonight and help Sean. Are we going to try to get in some games after midnight?

All right guys. Here's the stats for our very strong showing in January. Some positive things to definitely take note of:

All 3 forwards on the playoff roster had a G/T ratio under 1, averaged close to 2 points per game, and had a shooting percentage around 10%.

No one on the team had a G/T higher than 2.58/1.

Brandon had 851 hits this MONTH! Ridiculous! Hide your kids. Hide your wife. And hide your husband. Cause he's knocking everybody on their ass round here!

Pretty impressive all the way around. This needs to be the new standard. There's no reason we can't do this well all the time.

January Stats

Player cards with updated individual stats can be found in the OP. I still need to make cards for Sean, Matt, Shady, and Psychedelic. The next time I play with you guys, I need to remember to save a picture.

nice. my G/T was pretty solid, but I'm most happy with having the highest SHT % and a great plus/minus for only playing 16 games.

9 games away from superstar card, and I've been able to get a bunch of boost slots lately.

Pretty productive night last night for the few hours that we played. Sean got his Legend card, we saw our Elite Finish trophy get unveiled as the clock struck midnight, and we started off 2-1-1 on the new season with Shady playing as our goalie in 3 of those games (pretty sure he went 2-0-1).

I know it was tough going early on for him, but I definitely saw improvement in the latter games. If we had a dedicated human goalie, it would probably help us a lot. I know it just takes a lot of patience to get that position down well considering all the crap you have to deal with.

Anyway, here's a look at the Elite Finish trophy and our Pro Finish trophy from back in October. I wish I had better pictures, but the only ones that I could find in searches were the tiny ones from EA's website (not sure why they don't have these featured more prominently somewhere). If you want to see a really great shot of them, check out the "Club History" in game.

Hey I'll take those two games and run with it. A squirrel finds a snack pack every once nd a while.

Thanks Nate. It took some time to get a hang of the goalie controls. Plus I was just watching the arrow compared to the skater, so I was really late in the first couple games. Also the AI defenseman liked to forget they were playing and let a breakaway or two fly in. But it was fun and I look forward to giving it another try tonight if anyone is up for another hockey night.

Also I think my guy is 6'1" 215 lb. That seems close enough to what I have in the game.
What do I need to do to get one? Besides play, obviously.
Play during a club game and have me remember to save a picture (or save one yourself and send it to me). Sean's played several times and I kept forgetting to save one. I finally remembered to grab one last night, which worked out well because Shady was there too.

Yeah, I'm definitely up for playing tonight. I could probably play at 9-9:30 EST depending on whenever people get on.

Sounds good to me.

Hey guys, congrats on the Elite finish for January. Been watching for a bit, and I noticed that everyone from the team is willing to step aside for February. I've been wanting to try to ask you guys for one last chance for a while, but I havn't been able to prove to myself that i deserve it. I still don't think that I deserve it, but I just wanted to see if anyone would be willing to let me try again. I know you guys are coming off of a great month, and I left everyone with quite a bad impression, but it's a new year. I've been trying to get better at not exploding at people, and I think it's a chance that I'm willing to take. If I do get mad, I know how to shut my mic off on this headset.

Either way, good luck and hopefully the bounces will go your way this season.

Here's my two cents Magic. First off, people are willing to step aside for the playoffs to let teammates that have been playing all season get a shot at the playoff achievement. These are guys that have been playing and trying, working toward a common goal. In your case, I think you'd have to earn a spot.

Which begs the question, how do you earn a spot when you're not on the team? I think you'd have to prove you're willing to play the game with us the right way, be a team player, and be open to suggestions and criticisms. We've all given and received comments on our game, and it's helped us in the long run. To that end, I think the way to prove yourself might be on hockey nights, when we do private games instead of club games because of the amount of players we have.

That's just my thought, and of course, the decision is really up to people like Nate, Brandon, Alan etc.

Nice video, Shady! :)

I'm not getting involved in the Magicking thing since I haven't been playing enough to have any say in the matter.

This is probably a stupid question, but the playoff achievement you guys are mentioning is the one for just playing a playoff game, right? Without checking, I'm thinking there's one for that and then one for winning a banner. Obviously, we haven't earned the second one yet, though we (we not necessarily meaning "with me playing") probably would have gotten one had the playoff system worked properly in the fall.

Yeah, it's just for playing in a playoff game. That's why it's only fair to let everybody get in on it.

As for the Magicking thing, my take on it is this, I'm open to have anybody on the team who is a good player, contributes to the team, and doesn't become a nuisance. Whether Magic is any or all of those things is up for debate. If we were to even consider it, I like Stat's idea of letting him in on some private games to see how things go. I don't know if we'll have enough for that tonight. But we'll see what our options are. I will say though, Magic, if your passing hasn't improved, don't bother. That's probably one of the biggest areas this team has worked on and it's helped us tremendously. I'm not going to contemplate playing with somebody who's just going to throw 9 out of 10 passes too far ahead of me.

Having said that, I'm getting on now for anyone who wants to get an early start.

So how am I still on the team? Tenure?

good times playing last night, had to leave cause I had a funeral this morning early, which ended up not happening because of yet another terrible weather day in CT. I wrote a message but it looked like you guys had just entered the team selection screen.

Not a bad night last night. We took a dump in our last game of the night, but I guess that's to be expected. That's how we know it's the last game, haha.

Oh, Matt, I need the height/weight of your skater for your card too...and I still need Sean's if he happens to check in here.

Nate, my skater stands 6'2" and weighs in at 187 pounds.

Last night was really fun, although it sucks that the last game ended the way it did. The game picked the worst possible time to lock up for me.

Apparently, I unlocked another boost. When I pressed Y, I received the achievement for unlocking 20 boosts. I could have given a +5 to hand-eye or to puck control, so I went with puck control. I also changed my player name to something awesome.

Or injure the player! Good games last night! Also, it's an achievement just for winning a play off game and not a banner.

Oh, one last thing...YES WE HAD THE ACCEPT THE TERMS AND AGREEMENT DAMN IT! :D

Gary, I noticed that when I looked at the achievement list after unlocking the boost earning achievement. The one playoff game I played in was in September, which we lost. Hopefully I can earn a spot at some point and get that, but obviously, putting the best squad out there to win 4 in a row is the top priority.

Well, right now, Matt, the playoff "regulars" are stepping to let others have a shot anyway. So, spots on the roster are really wide open. I don't know how you guys would want to decide who gets them (if there's even more than 5 contending...I'm thinking you, Shady, Sean, and Destro are the obvious ones), but hopefully it leads to everyone playing more.
I also changed my player name to something awesome.
That's a pretty boring name actually. I might just have to steal it for Friday though...in goal, Something Awesome!!!!

Good games last night. We went 1-1 in the club games I played, both being complete opposites of each other. The ranked scrimmages weren't too bad either (open the door WTF!!!). Nice to see you guys got a win and an otl after I left.

Looking forward to playing some goal on Friday and reaching the Pro card. I think I have around ten to go. It really sucks that the player and goalie games played are seperate cards. Oh well if I stick with it I may get the achievements by the time NHL12 hits.

Agreed. Banner > Achievement.

Hm, since the cheevo is for winning a playoff match, the playoff team is going to have to play really well, or we're gonna have to stink it up this season and finish amateur.

That's CZW (Combat Zone Wrestling) but if you want to see wacky stuff like that, it happens frequently in lucha libre. There was also the Japanese promotion HUSTLE, and the American independent organization called CHIKARA combines ridiculous over the top goofy gimmicks with incredible high flying wrestling.

The old guys still got it!

After our trying to put together a roster of players who were active in NHL 94, I put the Winnipeg Vikings together this afternoon (sans Modano and Nolan, who have gone missing in the latest roster update, boo!).

Forwards: Ian Lapperierre, Doug Weight, Pavol Demitra, Jaromir Jagr, Sergei Federov, Alexi Kovalev, Jason Arnott, Rob Niedermayer, Teemu Selanne, Todd Marchant, Petr Nedved.

Defenseman: Nicklas Lidstrom, Serge Gonchar, Scott O'Donnell, Craig Rivet, Roman Hamrlik, ?

Goalies: Dominik Hasek, Chris Osgood

I replaced the Islanders with the Vikings, and switched the Vikings and Sabres divisional alignment.

Game 1 @ Ottawa: Scoreless first period as the Vikings outshoot the Senators 10-4. The biggest highlight came when Gonchar hip check Milan Michalek, injuring the forward for 3-4 weeks. Demitra starts off the second period with two goals in the first minute of the period. Jagr adds a late third-period tally, and Hasek stops 11 shots for the 3-0 win.

3 stars:
3) Hasek, 11 saves
2) Jagr, 1 goal, +3
1) Demitra, 2 goals, +3
Vikings? You mean Jets? Or did the game have different team names?
Different team names. I went with Vikings since Vikings are old school.

I was confused since I had never played a hockey game back then, but I knew the team names. So what you mean is that you created a team called the Vikings or changed the Jets' name to the Vikings? I'm just confused and curious. That's what she said.
