LMFAO, and yall called me crazy and said no way!! That proves it now doesnt it? Lol. That's a crazy pull and congrats!!

Loved the AllStar Game and just seeing John Scott tell Roenick to fuck off was great. Also, this started after the game and we must get the Douche bag off the air. I hate Milbury.

It's just even with as much as we know EA screws up...recognizing that "do the dumbest thing you can think of" is actually the way to have success in this game is still hard to grasp. Of course I'd pull one of the best players in the game doing a 3 card silver collection. I mean, that just makes sense, right?

There's actually a thread on the EA forum of people asking about big pulls from completing bronze collections. And I almost posted in it...but as I was typing it, I just thought "This sounds fake as fuck! I sound like a complete asshole trying to troll them." That's how dumb this game is. The most retarded, make believe sounding shit ever is what actually happens.

As for the ASG...I don't know, I can appreciate what the moment meant to John Scott and his family. But the fact is him being there was basically a complete troll job on the NHL. He's not an all star player...he definitely wasn't the best player there. And yet...he's paraded around like a Make A Wish kid. In some ways, it felt condescending. He was the butt of the joke and didn't really care. I actually thought Luongo played out of his mind all weekend. He was great both Saturday and Sunday. Malkin performed pretty well too.

Holy shitballs at that pull.

Scott basically saved the ASG game this year lmao. And he actually did decent in the game all things considered.

He did...but again, I think the Pacific division was playing harder than anybody else. It was basically a finesse women's hockey game and that worked to Sedin/Hall/Gaudreau's favor. Had the others not been holding back and keeping it friendly, things might have gone differently.

Did you read the articles as to why they made him such a big star? If you read them, you'll understand why even ore people rooted for Scott.

In it, it talks about how somebody from the NHL talked about his kids and how his kids would feel about him in the all star game. I need to dig the article up. Honestly, it was one of the best all star games ever because of how the NHL treated John Scott

Of course, it's also the All Star Game and a lot of players didn't need to be there because they're not all stars. But All Star games have always been like that. Little effort and just a chance to fool around. Sedin chipped Dubynk to fake him out and Dubynk laughed about it. Scott hit Kane because they were former teammates and Scott told him he was going to all weekend. That's like the shootout being a joke. Maybe back in 94, they took it serious, but it has since become a joke. However, Scott putting Roenick in his place and the Pacific trying so hard was for Scott. This was Scott's Moment and he earned it with all the shit they put him through. I'm glad Scott saved the All Star Game because every one is pretty unbearable. Scott showed heart and loved every minute of it. Go Scott Go!!

I read the article...and I get it. But I still think the reason for his vote is the issue. Basically fan voting for anything is a terrible idea. There are people who get pleasure just from fucking it up. This was really popular with American Idol and The Voice where "Vote For The Worst" actually became a thing. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vote_for_the_Worst)

I know they tried to turn it into a positive, and the league finally realized there was nothing they could do about it because it was their own stupid voting system that caused it. And everybody is right, Scott didn't ask for any of it. But it's just the type of thing that doesn't bode well for the future. Maybe next year, the fans will decide to do two joke votes. Eventually, it will stop being cute. I'd expect the league to alter the fan voting because of it...and I wouldn't blame them. It worked out ok this year, but it's probably not something you want to happen every year.

Basically...this is why we can't have nice things, haha.

First Silver - 82 Cracknell
Second Silver -Nada
Third Silver - Nada
Fourth Silver - Nada

So, one good player. But that's ok though, got more contract cards and I'm still hope full.

Well that silver collection pack theory has proven true for me so far. Just pulled a Letang.

Second Silver -Nada
Third Silver - Nada
Fourth Silver - Nada

Yeah, it's weird. I don't feel like the chances of getting "something good" are drastically worse than they were with the gold packs. I've only pulled a few gold ones since the Crosby...and nobody higher than an 83. But the collections are way cheaper and useless junk is useless junk...whether is low rated gold rares or silver cards.

And you're right, getting the silver contracts isn't bad either.

I will say, once you're done with those 3 card National collections, it might not be worth it anymore. Players in those European leagues are expensive as hell. I did one team in the Norway league because it was only 8 cards. But each player was over 1,000 coins...with some as high as 2,500. That's getting a little pricey for four silver packs. I'm going to wait and see how the resale is on them before continuing.

I can answer that for you: The resale price is good, as long as there's a buyer, which is where the problem lies. Think the TOTW/POTG/Milestone cards moved slow? Those cards are nothing compared to Bronze/Silver cards, unless you underprice them.

You guys are getting lucky with those pack though lol. When I was in my AH grind phase, I did 3 National Silver Collections, and 1 Bronze. Never pulled a card that was a grade higher than the pack reward.

Yeeeeah...that's what I was worried about, haha. For as much as EA loves Ultimate Team, they sure do an amazing job making a bazillion useless and undesirable cards.

I noticed some of those silver collections don't even have all of the players on the market. Just no incentive for people to buy bronze/silver packs (other than pulling Crosby, I guess :)) There's just no supply for those cards.

I hope they make a movie out of this story and let John C. Reilly play him.

Also, I think I got to the bottom of this crazy HUT face off ratings nonsense. Basically, EA fucked up so bad when the game came out that if you went into the roster screen before going into HUT, you saw different ratings than after going into HUT. Somebody linked me to the thread here.

http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/10356741.page

So, the HUT HQ numbers (Toews 95, Crosby 85, Stastny 80, Seguin 75) are what you'd see if you went straight into the roster screen without loading HUT first (and they're apparently the NHL 15 ratings too)

And the Reddit list numbers (Toews 85, Crosby 79, Stastny 89, Seguin 84) are what you'd see if you went into HUT, then backed out and went into the roster screen...yes, without loading any other roster or anything...

Most people feel the Reddit list is more accurate and better reflects the results you get in HUT (I don't think there's any way Crosby is better at face offs than Stastny). And it seems it was INTENDED to be the new ratings for this year...especially since every subsequent roster update has had these numbers.

EA Spertz!

All right...I am 100 million percent convinced that bad teams get a boost in HUT (or maybe good teams get penalized). People on the NHL forum call it "being equalized" (since they can't say "ice tilt" anymore, haha) but it most certainly exists.

After getting absolutely demolished in Division 1 with my pretty ridiculous team and accepting (and hoping) I would be relegated, I decided to have some fun and create a "low budget" team. Basically, the players that have good skills in certain areas, but aren't superstars.

So, I used this guide and threw a team together

http://www.operationsports.com/features/2346/nhl-16-hockey-ultimate-teams-best-bargain-players/

I then alternated playing with my stud team and this team for four games. Every time I used my stud team with Quick/Crawford as goalie, I got smashed. Easy crossers, soft goals, etc. When I played with the low rated team with Lehner/Lack in goal, my defense was monstrous and my goalie had save percentages above 92%. I lost both games in OT (one in a shootout...so that was my screw up on that one). But it was freaking night and day the way my AI performed.

It's crazy that EA continues to deny this stuff.

SCS announced they're going to unlock American Truck Simulator on Steam today!  They said they were going to wait until midnight Prague time (CET) to do it...but then realized it would likely keep them there till 4am. So, they're going to start it a few hours earlier. It's almost 6PM there right now...so, basically, the game should be unlocked within the next few hours.

So excited! :)

Woohoo! ATS is now up on Steam! :bouncy:

EDIT - Just completed my first job. Los Angeles to Fresno...delivering home accessories....to "Wallbert"

10/10.

And it's current the Best Seller on Steam, woo!

If you told me 4 years ago that a commercial trucking sim would be a top seller, I would have bet you a million dollars that there was no possible way. But here we are.

Make a legitimately good game and people will notice. It's Rocket League principle. So many developers don't get that and then wonder why their recycled garbage doesn't meet sales expectations.

Yeah, I should be able to play tonight.

Some thoughts about our play

One thing I was thinking about that's odd is that we seem to struggle more now when we have a full group than when we have a couple AI. I don't know if we're chasing more on defense, or getting in each other's way too much, or if the connection is just shittier with more people playing. But once we get down to three people, things tend to open up a lot more.

I also think we need to do a better job of recognizing what's working and what's not working. Sometimes it seems like we get tunnel vision and just plug away (sometimes across multiple games) with these strategies that worked in previous years, but just don't work the same in NHL 16. We need to take an honest look at how we're scoring and do more of that.

Go take a look at our club member list and look at the shooting percentages. I feel weird saying that because I'm not saying it as an "I should shoot ALL OF THE TIMEZ!!!" thing. But I think it does illustrate what works and what doesn't. I feel like that's definitely an area we can improve on.

Honestly, I think one of our best lineups we've had this year was when we had 6...with Brandon in net, Alan and NinjaPenguin on D, Rob at C, and me and Gary on the wings. In terms of player classes and skill sets, I think that was the best balance we've had. And that seems crazy because almost every person was out of their "natural position". But that lineup seemed a lot more fluid and creative.

Just things I've been noticing. Of course, it all depends if we care about winning...or rather, not getting frustrated with losing 3-4 games in a row.

I think I'm finally losing interest in HUT. I just played two games the first I outshot the guy 33-11 and had 10:xx time on attack to his 3:xx and lost 1-3. The second game I outshot him 35-10 and had 13:12 on attack to his 4:26... lost 0-3.

I notice it as well, so that's why I try to play different each game depending on how the other team is. If you notice, I skate behind the net and if nobody is attacking, I'll wait to see what opens up or if there is open ice, I'll skate. Sure, I mess up, but I feel bad when I do. Its all a matter of seeing everything open and what you can and can't do. Us D man, rarely get the puck because we seem to be covered a lot or just holding the blue line as best as we can. As a D man if I'm on the side boards, I'll eother A:Dump it in or B: Take a shot because hey, EA Spertz!! It's great when I see Brandon ready to go on the left because I KNOW 8 out of 10 times, he'll get the puck. Just have to change styles really, which I believe I have done since 14. Hell, I never skated behind the met before 15.

Yeah, I've definitely noticed that. I can tell most of the time you're trying to read where the defense is going and find a play out of it, as opposed to racing up the boards and just looking to the middle. For the most part, I've given up on actual 180 degree cross creases in this game...unless it's a very lopsided odd man rush where you can go back and forth with it.

Unless you make a perfect saucer pass, they're either going to be broken up, hit off the goalie, or be fanned on. Most of the one timers I've scored on this year have been way higher in the slot than in previous years. I feel like you need that angle to be able to drop the pass back and find the seam in the defense when they're all trying to crash low on the goalie.

I feel like you've found me a lot floating around that high slot. Sometimes it's not there and I bail and go to the sideboards incase we want to send the puck around the back of the net. But seeing what your teammates are TRYING to do is so important.

On that same subject, the forwards (and dmen too...but like you said, you're limited depending on what the opposing forwards are doing) need to stay spread. Recognize that the guy charging the back post is MOSTLY a decoy to pull defenders down with him. He's probably not open 90% of the time. But it opens the high slot for the trailing forward...and it usually opens the point. And if you learn that short side snipe, it usually opens that up too. We've gotta spread the defenders and drag them deep into the zone.

We've improved in a lot of areas over the years (remember when many of us used the action cam? lol). It's getting down to some pretty intangible stuff like moving without the puck and seeing plays develop. But those things can make a huge difference between dominating and getting dominated.

IMO, the biggest thing we need to work on is off the puck positioning. I've noticed the last few weeks that in the offensive zone, we have the two men on the point, then two forwards crashing the net. The problem with that is the two forwards also bring two of their guys down low too. This basically makes the cross-crease useless. At that point, if the person with the puck shoots it, or it gets cycled to a dman who shoots it, thats 4 people at minimum that the puck has to pass through to get on net.

That, and I'm half awake a majority of the time, so I get sloppy on defense lol.

Haha...well, narcolepsy is the silent killer.

But yeah, I totally agree. When you think of our offense, think of a nice lady's legs. Spread, spread, spread. Sometimes we do this thing where the puck carrier cuts to the middle, and it seems like it handcuffs everybody else and draws all the defenders right to the part of the ice that we need to shoot through.

You gotta think how many teams puck chase...so if you're carrying, you've got AT LEAST 2-3 guys coming for you. Unless you know a clear shot opportunity that you have and are going to take, we need to pull those defenders away from our teammates.

I mean, defense is defense, and we could always improve there. But we got shut out in back to back games last night. Can't win if we can't score. We need more consistent offensive pressure and better scoring chances.

I think part of the two forwards in front of the net is that both Brandon and I tend to favor the Power Forward build, which does work well in front of the goalie.

I've been having some lag on and off, especially in games with more people, which just kills me in terms of everything.

Not sure about tonight but we'll see. It's been a rough week.

Triangle: what you see when you spread, spread, spread. See, that's what I said. :)

Also, I'm on and ready if anybody wants to get a bit of an early start.

Sigh, biggest bullshit in this game is hut games.

Outplay a guy till the third. Score a go ahead go to make it 2-0 and he quits. Now Somehow all my goalies are fatigued and everybody has contracts expired. HOW? I just put a 13 game contract on Datsyuk and others.

This fucking game.
