Looks like there's one with the whole name written across the jersey that's that most expensive and rare one that I saw. There's three up right now, two are over 4k and one is 1k...maybe I should hop on that one?

If you can, it might be a good idea. I dropped about 10k getting about 16 players this morning. Should get the rest tonight after the daily reward and playing a few games.

Sorry, got sidetracked watching TV with my wife. How many is it in total? 8? I'll add that number of contracts in the morning and make the BIN 5000, that should make it easy to find.

Hadn't had a chance to respond to this the other night.

In my opinion it is so hit or miss. If you play a lot like I do, you can do the collections gradually over time just through buying packs and what not.

I guess now the work really isn't too hard or costly (then again I rarely have a shortage of coins since all I do is hoard them until player packs come up). My best advice would be to get the 85-89 over players during weekends like we just had when there is a flood of them thanks to the player packs.

As for the benefit, after about 8 teams I've found it be somewhat pointless since you cannot sell the cards and by the time you have that many done, chances are you are getting a majority of dupes. And with most packs usually only seeming to have 2 players (with an occasional lucky pack of 3 or 4).

Here is how I have done mine... I started with the low teams, Devils, Winnipeg, Florida, and Calgary. After completing each one I sell all the cards I don't want (usually 84 OVR and below). With selling, remember the non-"rare" golds can go for a bit sometimes I've seen 74 rated guys go for 2k+ because they are so hard to come buy now. From there I did the mid level teams. I would say now I don't even care unless I get a top player and the cost of the rest is reasonable.

As of right now I have these teams done:
ARI, BOS, BUF, CGY, CAR, CBJ, FLA, NJ, OTT, SJ, TOR, VAN, WPG.
 
Hmm, didn't realize they were not trade/sellable... that kinda changes my plans then. I have a roster that I've been happy with right now... I was planning on selling the players and consumables for the pucks to use in auctions to round out about 3 or 4 positions, but it sounds like that won't work. Bummer.

That's where I'm at too. I pretty much just play for packs now and take the gamble of getting someone high rated. Right now my lines look like this:
L1 - Lucic ( C ), Bergeron, Krejic (A)
L2 - Backes, Kesler, Kessel
L3 - Marleau, Couture (A), Pavelski
L4 - J. Staal, E. Staal, Okoposo
D1 - Chara, Doughty
D2 - McDonagh, Karlsson
D3 - Bouwmeester, Letang (Movember)
G - Price, Rask

Yeah, it's freaking retarded that you can't sell cards from reward packs. It's going to cause the market to dry up so much faster (in some ways, I feel like it already is). As soon as people stop buying packs, HUT is basically dead.

I've rebuilt my team 3 times to keep HUT interesting. First I had an all Nashville team (minus Rinne and Weber...which I never had enough coins to acquire). Then, I went with the best low priced players (The ones you see all the time...Okposo, Skinner, Alzner, Turris, etc). and then finally, the affordable players with the most training slots (MacKinnon, Skinner, E. Kane, Hedman, etc).

I think I play too much to really keep my entire team boosted though. I've been hovering around 5-7 players boosted 96+. I'm in Division 2 now and need 3 points in my next 3 games to get promoted to Division 1 (after being relegated all the way down to Division 5, I've climbed back up only playing position locked).

I'm hoping those high coin maintain/get promoted bonuses will help me increase the number of players i can have boosted at a time. But those 15 game duration cards (and even some of the +9 boosts) seem to be getting more expensive...like there's not as many of them in circulation. This probably wouldn't be happening if the game allowed people to sell reward pack cards.

Yes, I have a Dman playing my 3rd line forward, it's something I'm experimenting with- he's more well rounded than all my reserve forwards, who either are better offensively but are worse defensively, or vice versa. Barrie is right in the middle.

I have Lehner boosted to 99 everything, but he's 98 overall, and has no fatigue. Whatever.

For some reason, Lawson is a stone cold killer, despite being rated 78. I honestly think he plays better than Howard.

I really hate it. But the end of the trailer says it was made by Bean. So I hate it a little less since Rowan Atkinson made it. Didn't know he knew how to make games.

Nah, you can keep the jerseys, this way you can get your coins back. I'll put the contracts later, when my kid goes to bed. Thinking about keeping and using Giordano at LD, not a bad card for what I paid for it (about 1,000 I think).

Apparently's EA's "New Era" announcement was for a Colorado Patrick Roy card. Raise your hand if you're surprised it was HUT-related.

 
Man, 15 game duration cards cost a fortune right now. I haven't played the last couple nights because I didn't want to burn through my boosted players before I could get others boosted. I had been able to get them almost regularly for 2800 or less. Now, I'm not seeing any go for less than 4K. Screw that.

I just took the 5K I had saved up and bought (re-bought in some cases) decent rated cheap players to swap out my boosted guys for while I'm waiting on prices to come back down. Picked up Vanek, Moulson, Filppula, Turris, and Cammalleri. Curious to see if those guys can hold their own or if I really notice the drop from my boosted players.

Kind of surprised I'm actually making use of the game's "manage lineups" feature, haha.

I was going to mention this that night and forgot. I love how the "New Era" was essentially applying a team change to a legendary card... GASSSPPPPPP! My God, it's glorious.

Double post thanks to mobile CAG.

Depending on what time you are on and what the promo packs are, I've seen +5 All and Duration cards go all over the place price-wise. Seems like the best time to buy is between 7A-Noon est and sell between 5P-Midnight EST.

You should do pretty good with Turris and Vanek. They were my first line for a long time with St. Louis at RW.

Nope, you definitely beat me. Got a few change team cards, a few fatigue cards and garbage in players.

 
Man, that's awful. So, between the two of you (10 packs?), the only card that would cost more than 3,000 coins in the auction house was Pietrangelo. I guess the good thing is you can sell all those Calgary cards, get your coins back, and try again with another team. Collections are so convoluted in this game though.

I really wish they would just do it like Madden (well, except for having 80,000 collections) and lock the card once you put it in the collection...and then just give you a legit reward. It feels like they're intentionally giving shitty rewards because of the fact that you can use/sell the cards again anyway. It's like countering pointlessness with more pointlessness, lol.

Yeah, the only shitty thing about that is unless you can start to enjoy Online Seasons, HUT really doesn't have much else to offer. I really didn't think I would get hooked by Online Seasons, but I think figuring out my own "formula" for how to deal with cheesers made it more satisfying.

There's nothing like seeing some dipshit get stuffed every time he dekes over into the slot, and even though he finishes the game with 6 minutes more time on attack (circling on the outside really adds up), he loses 3-1 because he can't pass for shit and doesn't understand how to play defense or see how players rotate to get open.

The biggest problem I run into now are the stick spammers who never get called for tripping, slashing, high sticking, etc. I can defend their exploit shot pretty easily, but when they're raping me or my AI every time we touch the puck from 3 feet away with perfect stick precision, it opens up too many easy scoring chances.

I had a guy last night who had Hossa, Duchene, Kesler, etc and a 99 boosted Lehner...and he still did all that crap. It's funny that those guys can't grasp that they actually suck at the game because they can't win without exploits. All I get back is "u mad bro?"

The key is they need more to do for everyone, and it's why madden's UT and FIFA is way better.

They have all the daily and weekly challenges, both online and off, they have Online seasons, offline seasons, different leagues, tournaments, way more collections and promos... I mean no matter how you play it there is way more to do!

even with the FIFA and Madden Cheesers that are just as bad, I can choose to just complete challenges if I want to.

Yeah, I don't play online in MUT at all. There are so many solo challenges that reward just as many coins, you really don't have to if that's not your thing.

The biggest thing I hate about MUT is the different levels of the same card or the ones with different schemes. Just makes it way too confusing. At least they streamlined the adding to collection part this year, so you don't have to manually figure out which collection that special gold Zach Martin LP card goes in. I HATED that in last years game. It made me give up on MUT almost instantly.

No yea that part has been awesome! And being able to search auctions from the collection too! I was shocked when i started NHL 15 UT how bare bones and how many less cards there are, not to mention a lot of the lower prices on things.

 
Bought one of the 24-card packs today for 17,500 coins. The best I got was: Alfredson, 1,000 puck bonus, Alternate Captain, Brayden  Schenn and a +5 all training card. These packs are terrible, though with some boosts, I turned Schenn into a 98 overall player.

Yeah...I've got Schenn and he's pretty awesome boosted up. He's not exactly expensive on auction though. I can't remember how much Alfredsson goes for, but I don't think it's a whole lot. So, maybe you got like 25% in value for what you paid, haha. EA is just fleecing people with those packs, man...just on the miniscule CHANCE that you might pull a Crosby or a legend or something.
