As for Notch, I mean, I don't know him personally, but I can only assume he does. I would imagine his days were filled goofing off, sipping drinks, and chasing invisible penguins even BEFORE he bought this giant ass house. But that's really just an educated guess. :lol:

 
Wow, this is unexpected. I guess that Toybox Turbos game (which is basically Micro Machines) got Rift support. Apparently, it makes it like you're in the room standing above watching these races going on. But everything is to scale, so it makes it feel like the toys just came to life, haha.

I would imagine games like this where you have a 3rd person view wouldn't cause any dizzyness at all.

Well, if it's just going to be 3 of us (assuming Brandon is able to play...and I haven't seen Gary around since before his trip), I'd probably vote for 15. Finding a lobby with 3 people SHOULD be doable. And Gary only has 15 now anyway. So, if he is able to make it, that would work for him too.

It might. If you're around and want to give it a shot, you're more than welcome. The only "trick" we know to do is to pull up somebody's gamercard and block them if you keep getting thrown back into the same lobby. I have no idea what long-term effects this will have though. I feel like I've blocked half of the XBL userbase already, lol.

But even that method wasn't incredibly successful a couple weeks ago. So, the most likely prospect for the evening would just be shooting the shit and attempting to find each other in lobbies. If that sounds like an enjoyable way to spend a Friday evening, then you know where to find us, haha :lol:

 
That does sound enjoyable, but I'm not sure I'd want to do that tonight if the chances of us all playing together are so slim. There's a lot going on in Destiny, and I'm downloading the Halo 5 beta right now. That only runs through Sunday night.
 
I just lost 1-0 in OT to a guy who had Crosby, Stamkos, Bure, and then scrubs like Duchene, Perry, Giroux, P. Kane, Hossa, S. Weber, Suter, Kronwall, etc.

I can't even wrap my head around how much money he must have given EA to put that team together. He was actually pretty terrible too. But he had Carey Price in net, and he just circled for freaking days looking for that wrister. He was even doing it with his fucking d-men. He wouldn't take slapshots. Just continous circling looking for bullshit.

I seriously hope it was just some rich 10 year old playing with daddy's money. Because that was the most surreal team I've ever seen.

Sounds about right. The thing that I find funny is that you can get a solid team without spending any money or very little. I've bought one pack this year. The first time they had the 60k player pack I paid the $8.99 that it cost since I had $10 that was going to expire from a previous promo. I ended up landing a Patrick Kane which I flipped for 300k and sold a couple other players and bought 6 more packs which landed me Rask, Chara, and a few others that were 86-89.

With my team now I have a lot of big names, but only three of the cards sell for more than 80k. And most are under 20k.

That team you listed though, that's probably close to 4 mil with just the guys you listed. Hell... Weber, Crosby, Stamkos, and Kane alone are over 2 mil.

So true. It's hilarious that we can figure out anti-trust laws in this country, but can't seem to wrap our minds around how collusion works. I mean, the US just "happens' to be neatly divided up among Time Warner, Comcast, and Charter? Surely, that's just a coincidence. They couldn't possibly be working together to insure they all make a shit ton of money and can raise prices uniformly. That would just be silly.

I've been curious about that that game.... Does it show the questions on your phone? It seems like the delay on a stream would make it not playable if you aren't in front of the TV.
 
Just a little delay on the stream, but yes it does show the questions on the phone. If yall want to try it out, let me know! I'd stream, we join a party and play on the phone. I got the pack so it has Fibbage, You Don't know Jack, Drawful, Word Spud and Lie Swatter.

NHL has a free holiday pack, 12 cards 5 rare, non-tradeable. You can get 2 of them. They say no limit, but there is a message that pops when you try for a 3rd. They are up for 2 more days and x hours, so if I remember correctly, you might be able to get two packs every 24 hours.

Oh fuck me with a pitchfork EA! So because I'm gullible and I like the gamble, I decided to get one of the 42 Gold / 42 Rare packs just now for 250k pucks (all of which came from selling Chara).

Any guesses as to how many cards I got that I either didn't already have or didn't have the team collection finished and then sold said card?

4... 4 fucking cards!

There were 13 that weren't "Already Owned"... So 25% of the cards I didn't have at that moment. The sad thing is of the 4 cards that were completely new, 3 were goalies. The 4 cards were Bishop, Andersen, Fleury TOTW, and Nyquist.

The Fleury isn't bad though 91 OVR yet higher ratings in all 5 categories than my 92 OVRs Rask and Price (EA logic winning).

Ouch, thats brutal. It makes me wonder how "random"  packs are if something like that happens...like if there is some algorithm that will give you dupes a certain percentage of the time. For example, I seem to get the same B. FIddler Coach cards, Matheiu Perrault from the Jets, Hampus Lindholm from the Ducks, and Cory Conacher from the Islanders.

And you're right about the Holiday packs, seems like you can get 2 every 24 hours.

Yeah I actually got two gold duration cards and wisniewski from mine last night. Plus an assistant captain card. Shocking.

That definitely seems reasonable about getting certain players. I had a Wisniewski in my 42 card pack and got one in my free pack too. A few others I seem to get a lot are Kopecky, Monahan, Kulikov, Beauchemin, Savard, Fiddler, Frolik, and Cole (St. Louis). There are others, but those are the most consistent. I get at least three of those in each pack.

I sometimes feel like you get certain players based on what team you selected. I see a lot of teams using the Wings that have a lot of the same top players.

Despite not getting anything, losing Chara really isn't a huge deal seeing as his shot was so underrated, and his hands and speed caused so many problems against stick spammers. I ended up replacing him with a Hedman I got for 10k.
 
Really hope the NHL dev team wasn't watching the Wings in OT just now. If so I fully expect protect puck and skate in circles to be 100% effective next year. Definitely worth seeing the highlight of Nyquist winner in OT. Straight out of the douchebags of NHL 15 playbook. He literally had the puck on his stick for 28 seconds going around the zone for 2 full circles.
 
Been watching this thread, used the strategies talked about and played my first playoff game, guy had Ovechkin, malkin, datsuyk, and rinne... Pretty much every top player. Beat him 1-0 in OT getting out shot, he kept going for cross crease and I was shocked how good the d played stopping everything... I also had 5 pps and scored on one in OT

I will say I had Mackinnon at a 99, eberle is a 95, and holtby in net is a 97 and played amazing!

Only thing I was going to try player lock, how do you do that?
 
LS or RS (don't remember which one) at the first screen once you are matched up (the one where it shows your top rated player).
 
Yeah, click the left stick on the matchup screen. It will cycle through the positions on the middle of the screen, with a little padlock icon. It's kind of easy to miss if you don't know where to look.

People get pretty mad about pos lock, but it makes for the most realistic game EA could ever make. Your back checking and defense needs to be sharp though since you'll likely be giving up a lot of time on attack. But it's nice to be able to defend, defend, defend, and then capitalize when your opponent shows his ineptness on defense. Way more enjoyable for me than just trading bitch goals.
 
Oh and I had gotten the ultimate edition at launch because of a mistake but traded it in... So had 54 card packs waiting to open... Got pretty much nothing, best card was maybe an 89 crawford. Other than that a couple stastny's and O'reilley's... Kinda dumb in 54 packs I got no rares (legends), team of the week, etc...
 
Yeah, but if EA gave you those in reward packs then you'd have no reason to spend money on packs...

It's actually incredibly stupid when you consider that you can earn enough coins to buy both Stastny and O'Reilly playing less than 5 games. It really shows you how worthless those guys are.
