As of today this game is now $29.99 on Amazon and Best Buy for standard editions. You can safetly switch your pre-orders to Amazon for no tax (in most states) and free shipping (everywhere). Not sure if they would add release date delivery for a product like this, if they do I will update the OP again (or if the price drops again to say $20).

This is now wikied so anyone can feel free to contribute to this thread as I will not have Internet for near a month, but should have it just in time for when this title is out.

Right now the release date is 11/1 which of course is always subject to change. (Game has been pushed back all year now.)

The collectors editon for $20 extra comes with: Pillowcase, Artbook and Game Soundtrack. Not too shabby.

It's unfortunate my 30 dollar pre-order for the regular edition at amazon won't be bumped to the collector's, yeah that's what I was going for I'm that bad. I don't think I'll buy then because 50 is a good chunk more and money is tighter than that for me right now. Too bad because I imagine that collector's will only get more expensive after release so I either never get it or buy a lot more. Well atleast the regular game will drop in price sometime later I can hope.

That last posted trailer mentions DLC, maybe it's free with the CE or the normal release might not mention it in the description, who knows.

First.. funny you bring up the Witcher 2. You are aware that we got a censored version of the first Witcher right? Im not sure if we got an uncut version of Witcher 2 myself, i havent looked into it.

Anyway... i keep bringing it up because there hasn't been a developer response or any evidence at all that it WONT be. I havent asked in a while so i figured id check in if there had been any new news. All im hearing is people saying 'it wont be censored because i say so' Well you know what? You dont friggin know that. Hell, evidently the new FFIV complete collection got censored for some stupid reason. The dancing girls little dance got edited. Im pretty sure most of you would have been swearing up and down that that wouldn't have been edited.

Thats pg-13 at best too and it got changed. The fact remains that the last preview trailer they showed that I saw had little stars over cleavage and scenes removed. Censorship in the US doesn't seem to follow any ryme or reason or real consistency, so you never know. I certainly dont want to pre-order something without knowing myself, especially when the only footage ive seen IS censored. This is a thread about the game, i dont see an issue with discussing it

thats what im talking about as far as new footage. Looks pretty good, but i was hoping they would show the OP. Thats what they showed at that press confrence thing that was all butchered to hell. Still the fact that they have the head shots at the end and a bit of jiggling which was absent from teh last one is promising. Looks like it most likely wont be censored. If you happen to find a way to double check though by asking on the blog or something like that, that would be awesome.

As far as the LE goes it sounds like we get a DLC product code, soundtrack CD, and 128 page artbook.. Assuming it is everything but the chair and cover. Still, would be nice to see some pics or confirmation of that somewhere. Its still blank everywhere else. We've been getting some seriously anemic special editions here in the states lately. It wouldn't surprise me if we just get some art cards or something, and the UK gets this version

Also they released a patch for the US version of The Witcher 1 that uncensors it. And CD Projekt Red/Atari is not the same company as Konami/Microsoft nor was that a console title so that case doesn't set any precedent, really.

Looks like Gamestop removed their pre-orders online for the standard edition.

I just got an e-mail from Amazon indicating that both the regular and CE are delayed to August 30th. I notice Gamestop still has the July date. I guess this is just another delay?
 
^Has it ever happened before that one retailer (Gamestop in this case) releases a game before another (Amazon in this) ?

I mean I won't mind if this game is pushed to the end of August, as long as it will be released eventually. I'd like more time to save up money for my copy of Otomedius, probably should cancel and order through Amazon.

Just checked Gamestop's website still says July 19th and only the collector's edition is available to pre-order. My interpretation of this is that my original pre-order from Gamestop is going to be for the collector's edition.
 
Looks like Amazon just pushed both editions to September 27th. Gamestop hasn't updated their date or editions in a while, and August 1st isn't even a Tuesday, so I am guessing Amazon has the more accurate info right now.
 
My amazon order says it ships on Sept. 2nd. More time to save up for it, and more time to get through my backlog of other games to play.

I'm not expecting much from this game, but it won't be bad for $29.99.

That just means they haven't updated your ship date. The release date is now 09/27/11 so it won't be delivered before then.
 
Just noticed that there is a preorder bonus with this from Gamestop. Its another ship. I can wait until August or September for this. The collector's edition is nice and all under the price of a regular game at launch. Don't really have a need for the pillow case, but still more goodies is always nice.

Lame... how many times is this going to get delayed? Oh well, my pre-order is already paid off so i guess I'll just wait a bit longer.
 
I've been playing the Japanese-only predecessor, Otomedius G, and I'm highly impressed. Anyone who likes Gradius at all should have a great time with this. It's basically a 3D Gradius with anime characters and a sense of humor. I like the Gradius series so much better than bullet hell shooters, so I'm happy.

Yeah I feel like I can play without putting them on super easy ultra baby 1 year old mode where nothing even shoots, unlike the bullet hells.
 
Had this game paid off for months now and it's time to cancel it and put it towards something else. Looks like this will be delayed a whole bunch of times and I'll just wait to grab it new for 10 dollars or something in the near future. This should of went up on XBLA/PSN a long time ago.

That is one thing that worries me is the delays but I think its just because Konami wants to push it to the holiday sales rush but in doing so will make it really hard to sell since its a niche title that will have to go up against several great AAA games. It will hurt it in the long run honestly, IMO they should have dropped it this summer while nothing is coming out.

As stated previously most SHMUPS are short. Its the nature of the genre. If you are a fan of them then $30 is the right price for them, hell I have even imported copies of JP only and felt like I got a good deal out of it.

Konami will be too stupid to release it for the holiday season. Summer is perfect because there are no major titles coming out. I don't understand them and SNKP for releasing KOF13 around Oct. Not a wise business decision even though Atlus is publishing but still not smart imo. I'm still going to cancel my copy of this game and probably pay off Dead Island or maybe put it towards Catherine.
 
Otomedius has at least 6 characters all with fully voiced intros and endings, multiple modes, etc. There's plenty of replay value not only because of all the characters, but each has tons of weapons to unlock. The production values are higher than most modern-day 2D shooters and it's easily worth $30 IMO - even more so than Raiden 4 was.

Also, the plural of bonus is bonuses. ;)
 
I think a good time to release this would be around when Radiant Silvergun is released on XBLA. People will be looking for another shooting fix when RS starts anal raping them, and since i've read this is not too hard a game, it may help some of us regain our manhood.

Why does this look appealing to me? I never buy any game at MSRP, or even get into anime at all. Must be all the typing on Japanese keyboards (on Hitachi SEM microscopes) at work the past few weeks.

I would definitely say it's worth more than Raiden 4. I love raiden and bullet hells, but I didn't like the weird mix of the two in Raiden IV. Fighter Aces on the other hand, that's a good value.

Three days after Gears of War 3 as well.
 
Played a level yesterday.

It feels slow for a scroller, but maybe just because I hadn't played a gradius game in 5+ years.

If you're a fan of Gradius, it feels just like it, even enemy patterns. The girls aren't that distracting or erotic in the actual levels, so you probably could play it with the wife around, but choose your fighter when she's out of the room. =D

If you like really fast paced shooters like bullet hells, you might find this really slow.

Yes, its full price, The MSRP at launch is 'full price'

And i know theyre relatively short but a review in OXM mentioned it took less than half an hour to beat it o_O Thats a bit TOO short. A bigger concern was that evidently if you play multiplayer and the 2nd player dies, thats it they cant continue, they get dumped. If the first player dies, the game just ends and dumps the 2nd player as well

tahts a HORRIBLE system. Please tell me its not that way for 2 player local?
 
When people refer to a retail game as full priced, they mean the $60 default price for retail games. Anything less than $60 can be considered a deal. You're arguing semantics, which is pointless.

Anyway, neither Otomedius game is shorter than other shoot-em-ups. Besides, they contain lots of replay value as each character has her own ending and numerous weapons to unlock. Plus there's always replaying for score, which tends to be the main point of this genre.

I wouldn't take that OXM review too seriously. The guy obviously doesn't like the genre that much. But the game not allowing the second or third player to continue would be worrisome. I haven't read that elsewhere... Guess we should look into it.

I actually have the Japanese version (well the cheaper JP LE version) and there isn't really individual endings, but you do get unlockable galleries of the girl you chose and on Expert their is an extra level and Anoa gets something in that Level too if your playing as her. But I'll let you guys find that out when you get the game. As for local multi, I can check that out for you in a little bit. And since IGA directed the game, those who have played his DS Castlevania outings will be familiar with his "grinding system". This in regard to the many weapon cards you can collect in the game for each character.

I will say someone took a look at the disc contents in the JP version and I think you'll be surprised what bunch of shooters are featured this time around. On the Japanese Marketplace, we have DLC with Strarf (the other Busou Shinki girl) and Anoa's Music pack has music from Nemesis 3 with an orchestral sound to it. I haven't downloaded either yet (saving money ATM). But honestly, everyone's waiting for Kokoro Belmont. ;)
