Has anyone else noticed PriceGrabber has now posted guidelines before you submit your reviews?

I just noticed it today, it wasn't there when I submitted my reviews before... they must have done this following a flood of crappy reviews... and what exactly do they mean by "The quality of your review will dramatically impact its success."
---------------------------------------

Thank you for choosing to write a review on ______________. The quality of your review will dramatically impact its success. Please follow the standards below for writing a good review.

They put that because you no longer need an account to post a review, however you still need one to get the rebate.

They mean that if you write an excellent review, more people will be willing to buy the game - you write a bad review, less people will be interrested so sales could (potentially) be hurt.

It has nothing to do with that, it's not whether the review is positive or negative, it's the effort put into the review. Some of the reviews on the site are just plain horrid and offer no insight.

That's what I meant - if you write a decent, easy to read review, it's alot better then reading "THIS GAME IS TEH AWESOMEZZZ!!!11". Hell, if I saw a game with reviews that looked like a 12 year old loved it and was typed in their own special language, I'd probably pass.

Even if you write a bad review, but write it in a manner that's cohesive, it's ok.

Hey guys I am new to this, so I have a couple of questions.

1- Will they accept online receipts instead of packing slips? I throw away slips usually. I'm hoping a printout of the order from EB.com will suffice.

2- Does it matter when you purchased the game? I have some that I bought almost a year ago. Can I still submit those?

3- Any limit on how many I can submit at once?

Thanks

no, but you can't send multiple rebates for a certain game.

To answer your questions:

1) I've used them in the past for the occasional one I've submitted and had no issues with them.
2) It shouldn't matter, though I've seen from time to time on the "Request rebate form" pop-up window that the purchase needs to be made in the rebate window (the end of the 3rd month after the current one, like the rebate says).
3) I've always sent mine in one at a time, though others have had success with sending in more than one at once.

Logged into my yahoo account this morning and saw that i had 19 new emails.....thought 'crap, someone spammed me'. Well, someone did and it was 18 emails that said 'Your Pricegrabber Bonus'. Logged into the web-rebates site and i have 21 rebates 'in process'. w00t.
Just got the mail today, and what do I find but 70 checks for $5 each, rubber banded together.
LOL.

I hope that shit dosen't happen to me, I don't want to walk into the bank with 34 $5 checks.

I mailed it off today, so they should get it in about a week and then we'll go from there.

All the rebate checks are $5, and they're mailed seperately. They never combine them.

Whatever amount you're expecting, plan on getting a number of checkes equal to $$$ / 5 .

In fact, under the amount, the checks say, "NOT GOOD FOR MORE THAN $5.00 US." It's too bad; I'm probably going to develop carpal tunnel, and they could've saved some postage by sending one check for multiple offenders like us.

My bank is going to hate me.

Hate is a pretty strong word, especially when you're giving them your money to hold. :D

They haven't in the past in my dealings with them, so I doubt they'll change.

The old checks used to be single piece of thick paper, and now, they're doing the lighter, check-in-the-zip-stripped-envelope version now. Much easier to deal with.

I've had most of mine come in the single piece of thick paper variety, though the recent ones have come in the zippable-envelope variety.

Does anyone know if EB stores their receipts (so I can go and ask them for a copy of one from November)?

My best guess is I had to send in my original receipt for a rebate for my GameCube, and then I probably tossed the copy when I moved last month since I had gotten my rebate, not realizing I had sent the original... and ignoring the fact that the same fate transpired with my GC UPC, if I can get that receipt, I can at least send in for Mario Power Tennis.

If the criteria for getting the rebate on the form doesn't show that it needs the UPC, do I not need to send it in? I've got three of the 9 I'm about to get copied to send that only have the receipt copy and sending the form to the address. Should I just do it anyways to be safe?

I'd say send it in just in case... that way you're covered no matter what.

What game says you don't need the UPC? I've done a few dozen of these review forms but I never saw one that doesn't require a UPC (or a copy of the UPC).

NCAA Football 2005, Baldur's Gate: DA, and either Tekken Tag Tourney or Virtua Fighter 4 Evo. I was surprised when these three didn't have it on the form, but I guess I'll send them in just in case.

I'll be damned... you're right.

I was cranking out so many of these review bonuses, I didn't even bother to read the details for each game... but now that I look out the forms PG emailed me, you're right - VF4E and BG:DA don't even mention anything about UPC... I'm covered either way and I suggest you provide UPC copies just to be safe. Good luck with your bonuses.

I know this has been answered because I read it somewhere but can't find it anymore.

I have a receipt with two qualifying games on them, thus I would have to have a photocopied version. Would they accept that? I plan on sending both of them (copied and original), stapled seperately on the 2 games.

I've been sending in photocopies of everything and they've been accepted.

Finally after about a month and a half my first batch of checks are in the mail. I was so excited when I saw that and can't wait to get everything done. On my third batch of rebates right now and when all is said and done hopefully I'll receive back $250+ dollars! Been spending like crazy at EB because of these $5 rebates, thus making some of the cheaper games almost free (now I've got a bunch of mediocre games sitting around like Cy Girls...that game is horrible)

Yeah, it's better to be safe then sorry. Does anyone know if Wal-Mart has a copier in the store? I'm going to be heading over their later to finish up an errand or two and I'd like to get this out of the way here rather than head somewhere near my apartment while I'm out. It's alright if it isn't as there's another place I can head to to get these done, I'll just have to carry some change with me when I get there. :)

Do I need to provide my home phone number on the form? I know there isn't an asterick but I want to be sure. Do I need to wait till my review is posted to mail my things in? Thanks in advance for answering my newbish questions.

i dont think they ever call so i put put it in.

i want to get a rebate form for something that isn't a video game, but it has "$10 Rebate Merchant Restricted" available. what does it mean? thanks.

That is a rebate specific to a certain retailer. It means you have to buy the product at that store and do their rebate form. Unless you see a $5 pricegrabber rebate listed in the forms, theres not one, even if there are 100 other rebates.

Anybody get any rebate money back from them yet? It's been probably about 5 weeks or more since I sent mine in (I think)

A few new rebates were added for some newer games like Killer 7, Dead to Rights PSP, Coded Arms PSP, Conker, NCAA Football 2006 and stuffs.......

How did you find it?

Is there way to sort out just the review bonus games (newly added or old)? Usually I just scroll through each and every section of the games on all the systems, which is quite tedious.

Do you guys think it will be ok to use online statements like from gamestop.com and ebgames.com?

Because I have purchases on both websites dating back to 2001 which = a lot of rebates.

I've already done about $80 worth of rebates but I had actual receipts or packing invoices for those.

Thanks for the help.

What I do is go to the game section of whatever console you're looking for, click "View All," then do a find for "$5.00 Bonus." It's not as nice as having a simple list, but you can locate all the eligible games quickly.

Yup, just print them out as use them like the actual receipt.
