Did the Tales of the Abyss guide drop to a penny?

It's not on EB / GS's website anymore...
it hasnt been on the site for a while now

Hope this isn't a repost....

GS/EB has marked the Shadow Hearts: From the New World guide down to $9.99 (cover is $19.99)

Also, GS/EB now has the Kingdom Hearts II limited guides for $19.99 (down from $29.99.... that might be very old news, I dunno)

Kingdom Hearts LE has been that for a while (I picked it up at the price in...January?), but Shadow Hearts is news to me.

Thou Shalt Never Give Up....

This Evening At A Bb Near A Kmart Far Far Away....

Oblivion ! ... One Copy ... One Penny!

Not that anybody cares, but GS/EB just pennied down three "guides" (at least at my store.)

NBA Street Homecourt
Cheats and Codes Summer 2006
Cheats and Codes Winter 2006

Oblivion ! ... One Copy ... One Penny!
lol. I got the same a few days ago. It had a $19.99 sticker on it and the cashier scanned it twice and said, "Wow. OK then." I also picked up NFS: Most Wanted. So thanks again, Vahn. :D

Is GS only pennying guides 3 at a time now?
Is GS only pennying guides 3 at a time now?
I've got no idea. There might have been more, but that's all I got.

Usually, the HUGE drops are at the begining of the year. I don't expect any more until the end of this quarter, which should be end of May, if I'm not mistaken.

I actually found one of the non updated Oblivion guides(which I haven't added to my TL yet) on maybe Weds or Thurs at my local BB. It was on the lowest shelf in the PC game section, right where I had quickly 'stashed it in plain sight' maybe 2-3 months ago before they ever dropped that one.

I snickered when the guy in Media scanned it 2-3 times and said 'well, that's interesting' and handed me back the book and conversed with the one other media employee for like 5 mins.

I then went over to the Xbox rack and looked for some clearance games and watched them comb through the entire guide rack(which was relocated under that section a while back)looking for more guides like the one I 'got lucky' on, as they told me.

Now, if I could just figure out a way to get that bundled WOW Atlas(that pennied) I stashed 7-8 months ago that fell FLAT behind the shelf where I found the Oblivion guide. LOL

Sometimes, hiding guides in plain sight is the best thing to do, especially when they've had 2-4 versions.
I actually found one of the non updated Oblivion guides(which I haven't added to my TL yet)
That's weird because I checked your tradelist just last night and you did have Oblivion (PC/Xbox) x 2. You were trading or selling them for $8 shipped "due to the weight of the guide."

Those guides are the heaviest i've ever shipped and when you add in the cost of packaging and the time to take it to the post office i think 8 bucks is a bargin especially if you are a collector because they aren't on the shelves anymore unless you want a revised one!
I just ran to BB and that WOW atlas was not a penny.....unless there is two different ones.
The ones that had bookmarks in them were pennied.
And IATCAG is a punk

Typically, 2-3 reg sized guides fit into the regular sized bubble mailers with EASE. Now, add in a piece of cardboard on both sides and it becomes quite snug. But, that is how guides end up making it from point A(my place) to point B(your place) in ONE piece.

Of course, I've shipped bundles like that before, 3-4 guides in a bubble mailer, wedged between 2 pieces of cardboard, only to learn that some vindictive postman must've dropped the package 90 bajillion times(most of them in MUD) en route to the destination. Some CAGs reported that the package went through the war but the guides arrived in great shape still.

I just wish that ALL CAGs(not mentioning any names, but I did a rarer guide for 2-3 of my wants swap a long time ago, I packed mine in snug, but wasn't asked about condition, so said CAG had a shit fit over 'sticker residue' and a minor crease) had the same consideration.

So, the above mentioned CAG shipped me back those 2-3 guides in an oversized mailer, unpadded and flopping around like crazy. But, I'm not a collector who's going to sit here and stare at the guides, I'll actually USE them. So, I actually thought about leaving neg feedback, but said to hell with it. We both gave positive feedback and all was done.

ANYWAY, the $8 is a decent price imo, as the usual shipped price for 2-3 reg guides WITH above mentioned padding is usually around $5-6. Although, I will say that the only one I've shipped out from my list was part of a 2 guide bundle(4/$11) and 2-3 hardcover book guide sale.

As for the WOW Atlas, I think I DID mention something about it being a 'special pack' or something, which usually denotes something ELSE came with it. Either way, whenever a new bunch of updates comes out and needs printing into a new version, expect ANOTHER WOW Atlas drop.

Sorry for the long post again all, but I did want to kind of 'justify' the $8 shipped price and clarify what I meant bout the WOW Atlas.

Oh and thanks for the compliment again Pook..

It was, then it was restock and the price went back up

I was just making mention that he did indeed have 2 of those pennied guides listed in his tradelist even though he recently said he hadn't put them in his tradelist, which is why I said, "That's weird."

I was trying to help him out - he may not remember them all (he had a crapload of guides in his original TL, some crap and some not) so I was reminding him that he does have 2 of them, not including the one he said he recently found. Also, I mentioned "due to the weight of the guide" because that phrase is what made that guide stick out of his list. It was bolded and in red. It had nothing to do with me pointing out the shipping price. I've shipped paperback school texts before so I know all about weight and cost.
Sorry for the long post again all, but I did want to kind of 'justify' the $8 shipped price and clarify what I meant bout the WOW Atlas.
edit: See above. No need to justify anything. You bought it. It's yours. You can do with it what you want. End of story, so please ease off the defensive.

I saw the older one today at game stop for $20 :) Its more of a square....brian9824 was telling me they had a bookmark or something.

Thank you. I'm glad you posted those drops here. Three is better than none. I gotta go grab those this week.

And yes, just the WoW Atlas with the bookmark was pennied at BB. The one without it is a different SKU, IIRC.

Target has Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater for $10. It was up front by the registers with some other $10 games like Bubble Bobble Revolution for DS.
For anyone interested, the Pokemon Pokedex Collector's Edition just dropped to $10 at BB.
Hmmm... Might be time to hide a few behind some WoW Atlases

Splinter Cell: DA dropped to 9.99 as well.

EDIT: After looking at the Pokedex's content, I have to say I seriously tempted to spring for it at $10 (it's 16.50 at Amazon) because I'm afraid of missing it at .01. Now my desire to collect glossy videogame paraphernalia is clashing with my cheap ass-ness. Just...have...to...hang...on...a...little...longer...

Why not grab it for $5 using one of the Gamepro coupons?

Tried the coupon, but discount did not apply on the Pokedex Edition for some reason. Left empty-handed. (Referring to April's Gamepro issue of the coupon which also expired on the 30th)

I'm sure it's already been asked before, but does Blockbuster penny guides? I managed to find Rainbow Six 3, SSX 3, and Beyond Good & Evil last night.

You might wanna take it up to the front just to double check. Just take it up and ask them how much it is since it's so old. You just wanna see if it's dropped in price at all (or some BS like that). As long as it's not the manager, they'll probably sell it to you no problem, no matter what the price.

i thought game rush would not pennied out an item unless every copy is out of every store. Dunno if Blockbuster is the same.

I found some pretty old guides a while back at a local Blockbuster too and they all scanned up full price when I had them PC'd. So, I think you are SOL about trying to get anything from Blockbuster

Found the Penny-Arcade books 1 and 2 (which you should already own, all of you) pennied at an EBGames today. Good luck finding these.

No one having any luck?

Snagged Tony H:p8, NWN2, Justice Leage, Superman Returns, Guitar Hero II.

Saw some more in the pile. Can't remember off the top of my head. This was at an EB btw.

Nice. Well if you can remember/find out anymore, please let us know. We greatly appreciate it.

Found a Mario Power Tennis NINTENDO 64 guide at one of my local Best Buy's yesterday...the thing is that Best Buy is only like a year old. WTF??? I didn't even try to check the price.

TH: P8, NWN2 (assuming it's not the World Builder guide) and Justice League are new ones to me.

It is the world builder guide for Neverwinter Nights 2. Also you can add the following guides: MGS Portable Ops, there was a Total War PC guide (forget which one), SOCOM Combined Assualt. I think those were the only others I saw.

I have to head back out there soon, if they still have it I'll try and pick it up.

About a month ago, I found a Metroid Zero Mission NP guide at a BB (cant remember where), but it rang up at full price. Every other guide they had there was full price, so I guess it wasn't a fluke.

Upon further review it is the World builder guide. I dig it though. I liked making my own things in the first game.

Here's the list from my GS of penny guides from yesterday.

Metal Gear Solid: PO
Secret Codes 2006 volume 2 (omg hott!)
