Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now

I occasionally do guitar/vocals. Never anything too complex since I'm not an amazing guitarist to begin with and I lack the coordination to pull it off anyway. Nirvana, Ramones, that kind of stuff.

The mic stand that came with the Beatles set I won last year comes in handy.
I was just wondering how many of you can, or have at least attempted to, play an instrument AND sing at the same time
I do this sometimes, but usually only on songs that I know the lyrics fairly well, so I only have to glance at them occasionally. I also drop down my guitar/bass difficulty a level, from hard down to medium. I sing on easy anyway, because I'm not a good singer. But it is fun to do! I bought a boom-style mic stand online last year, it works great for this.

Per country pack: BOO!

I don't suppose this is coming to us poor PS3 RB'ers, is it?
I don't suppose this is coming to us poor PS3 RB'ers, is it?
Sadly it doesn't seem like it. Since PS3 owners only get "select" RBN stuff for their console. So MAYBE at a later date, but as of right now, nope.

This pack looks like FUN. Check the vids on Youtube.

Can't complain about free. For the country pack, not a fan, but Reba was one of the few I always liked so I could see myself picking up that one at some point.

Not a country guy either and I don't think I'll use space in my HDD for that RBN for that stuff.

I'm surprised they don't just release a country rock band.

Just looked all of these up on Youtube...enjoyed them (most of them) more than the 20 free songs with RB2. Yeah, there's a few I'll delete, but I think this a group of songs that will be more or less accepted by those that only like to play songs they know, at least the kind of people I play with.

Can't wait!

Reading more about it...That Megamix MAYBE one giant sampler kinda The Who S-Mashup from a few months back. Take that for what you will though.

wait... wut? So it's one giant "song"? Interesting, but almost guaranteed to never be played at parties. Is it whole songs, or snippets of a bunch of songs on RBN as a sort of sampler, to get you to buy the whole version of each song? (also, that Night on Bald Mountain part is awesome)

Edit: Is that radio type announcer just for the video that was upped, or is that during the "song" as well? Interesting idea for sure if that's the case, a free interactive advertisement.

Based on the site, it seems like it is one giant song.
http://rbnmegamix.com/

And based on where that square is positioned, this looks to be the full song as we'll be playing it (when the songs are being tested they have numbers and shit positioned in that exact area, so it looks like they just covered it up).

Not sure what to think about "Night on Bald Mountain." I think I would have preferred the "Night on Disco Mountain" version by David Shire. At least that would make more use out of the drums.
I remember when DLC used to interest me.
They are totally holding back on good DLC for Rock Band 3 so it can have keyboards, pro charts, harmonies, etc. I'm 100% fine with having bought like 2 songs in the past couple months.

lol, looks like that long-rumored Snoop Dogg DLC is finally surfacing next week: Snoop Dogg DLC Dropping 9/7!

The pack contains "8 Hits" that have been "produced exclusively for Rock Band," whatever that means. Rock remix of "Drop It Like It's Hot" that I can bust out at parties? Sign me up.

Glad for Snoop Dogg but probably wont buy since half the lyrics will be wiped, just like they did with Sir Psycho Sexy (RHCP). If only they would make Rock Band 3 a mature titlle, then they could allow DLC to have profanity...:whistle2:k

Torn on the Snoop thing...for variety's sake, I'd like to think I'd buy the whole pack.

But if it winds up being all newer stuff, forget it. And as others have mentioned, the lyrics being sanitized don't do it any favors.

I don't think RB would have to be an "M" title to have profanity in the DLC. I'm pretty sure the "Gameplay experience may change online" disclaimer by the ESRB covers DLC that would not have the same rating as the game. But then PSN or XBL would have to lock the content based on age level, which as far as I know they do not do.

Actually I think they do. I don't think you can even buy like a map pack for COD or Halo with a child account.

I finally found a pre-order listing for the Rock Band 3 pro-drum bundle with pro-cymbals at places like Amazon and Gamestop for... $130?!?!?!?! Anyway, is there a difference between these drums and the RB2/Beatles drums? I've been trying to find out some info on these drums but have come up empty.

Not sure if it matters, but you may not be able to as they are M rated games.

Seems pricey, but I think the RB2 drums were $100 when they first came out so it kinda makes sense. I think they'd sell more if they did a game + pro-drums SKU for $150 but oh well.

Not sure. I need a new kit and am still trying to figure out what I want. $130 is alot more than I thought it would cost. I think it is in my best interest in buying the new ION set (due to them being made better), which will work for RB3 pro mode. Granted, still no pricing on it.

I thought the Beatles drums and RB2 drums were the same other than cosmetic appearance. If the RB3 drums are the same, then I'll just stick with what I already have.

plasticaxe.com just posted a press release from Mad Catz with info and pricing on everything from drums to the "Electro-Harmonix Overdrive Pedal:"

LINK

That overdrive pedal has been out since last year.

Plus wanted a price on the REAL wood guitar, but I guess not until next year.

So pro drums only refers to the type of play and has nothing to do with the actual drums, so it's pretty much the same drumset as before only with an extra input for dual foot pedals?

The extra input is on the RB2 and Beatles drumset as well, it's below the orange input on the back of the drums.

Unfortunately HMX reps on rockband.com have said that is not true, and that disclaimer is about online interactions with others.
I don't have a link handy so I guess you can take it with a grain of salt ;)

This is what they should do, IMO.

Here we go, ladies and gentlemen! http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=199935
Hey gang,

This DLC release has been a long time coming... you may remember when we first announced that Snoop was coming to Rock Band ages ago. Well the Doggfather has finally arrived and he's bringing a healthy dose of hip hop to the RB library with him. Enjoy!

“Beautiful”
“Drop It Like It’s Hot”
“Ridin’ In My Chevy”
“Sensual Seduction”
“Snoop’s Upside Ya Head”
“Tha Shiznit”
“That’s Tha Homie” *
“Who Am I (What’s My Name)?”
haha I get what you're saying but I figure they'll use radio/video versions. "Undercover cop," etc. Any Snoop single should have alternate lyrics available so they won't have to Sir Psycho Sexy the thing to death (I hope!:whistle2:#).

We can dream. The radio lyrics still have drug references, sex references, and killing cops and gang members references (at least for the song I mentioned). Granted the other songs they mentioned are past his "gangsta rap" era so they should be a lot cleaner. I just really wished Harmonix would get it over with it, use the real versions of songs, slap a parental advisory sticker on it, and call it a day.

I guess this list could have been worse. I'll pick a few of them up.

“Beautiful”
“Drop It Like It’s Hot”
“Ridin’ In My Chevy”
“Sensual Seduction”
“Snoop’s Upside Ya Head”
“Tha Shiznit”
“That’s Tha Homie” *
“Who Am I (What’s My Name)?”

(All tracks are original master recordings)

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation 3 system Sept. 8)

(“That’s Tha Homie” will be available on PlayStation 3 in North America Sept. 14 and on PlayStation 3 in Europe Sept. 15.)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Wii and as “Snoop Dogg Pack 01” on Xbox360 on Sept. 7. “Snoop Dogg Pack 01” will be available for PlayStation 3 Sept. 21 in North America and Sept. 22 in Europe.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song

$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per song

$13.49, £8.99 UK, €13.49 EU (1,080 Microsoft Points) for Snoop Dogg Pack 01

But yeah HMX takes whatever the labels give them so the editing is wildly inconsistent. All questions shall be answered Tuesday I guess!

also lol at the thread title, haha

rock band is getting worse and worse every damn week. the key word there is ROCK. country can be okay at times depending on the song and guitar/bass/drums part, but putting snoop dog in rock band? wtf!?! someone needs to get fired over this bullshit. they should of put snoop in dlc for lips, dj hero or that new rap game coming out instead. instead of putting out more rolling stones, radiohead, slayer and other good bands they keep putting out crap weekly. smh

I guess you can't see the point in this is ROCK BAND, not various music band or whatever you would want to call it. Aside from that, did you forget that this dlc will be available to use in rock band 3 and some of it can be used in other games like lego rock band as well? Oh silly me, I forgot about how kids are these days. I guess since it's a "two-year-old game" then why would we put old music on there right? I guess no more beatles, rolling stones, slayer, lynard skynard, janis joplin, kiss and many other good bands. Hey I have an idea for you, why not just put out content from this decade such as justin beiber instead? Now that would be silly..

I'd say someone needs to be less concerned with labels.

So, you'd rather go with the Activision model and have them release different games for each genre? Every month, we can get a game like Pop Band, or Rap Band, or SCREAMING HARDCORE THRASH METAL THAT ISN'T FOR PUSSIES WHO LIKE fuckING HUEY LEWIS Band?

Plus, stop acting like getting Snoop Dogg means that it's prevented something YOU wanted from coming out. Just because we have Snoop doesn't mean they just went ahead and shitcanned the ultra awesome never-before-announced ultimate Rolling Stones pack, or the rest of those Beatles albums that never came out. Plus, really, the bottom line is that it exists, but you don't have to download it and corrupt your precious 'rock' collection.

Not a big deal, man. Really.

It's called variety. If you don't like it don't buy it. This argument has been had here over a million times and Harmonix doesn't give a shit about just you and your music taste. If you want more rock go on RBN and find something new and support a new artist.

Plus it's not called PUNK band, METAL band or INDUSTRIAL band; but they're in there as well.

I really like the variety in RB. Every week they put new stuff out. Maybe we can get some oldies? Buy what you want and ignore the stuff you don't.

I also second the variety but also kind of get where he is coming from. I personally am not a fan of songs making it into Rock Band that don't have all the key elements of a real band (drums, guitar, bass, vocals) whether they are pop/rock/country/metal/punk/etc i.e. La Roux - Bulletproof (all keyboard and synth drum; no guitars or bass used in the production of the real song); and yes I love the song but it deserves to be in Lips/Singstar instead.

Also at the same time I don't understand the bitchin' either. There is so much variety to choose from between Harmonix selection and RBN selection. There should be plenty that would fit your taste.

PS Love the thread title.
