Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now
Do I REALLY need to buy the three pack of RB3 cymbals, or can I just buy the old RB2 2-pack?

I already bought the old RB2 2-pack some time ago, but one of the cymbals is....well, I've been hitting the ever-living crap out of it while I'm rockin' so it doesn't seem to be quite as responsive

So I was thinking that I could just spend $19.99 on 2 old ones instead of $39.99 on three new ones
Old ones work. I think you need 3 for pro though

Unless you want to jimmy rig that 3rd cymbal on there you'll ahve to buy the three pack. The 3 pack comes with an extra attachment so you can add a 3rd cymbal. A two pack won't have this attachment. So where will you put the 3rd? Pretty Gay, but you gotta buy the three pack. :whistle2:/

Pro drums are weak though. The next step was a highhat pedal, and until they add that it's not very pro; at least in the sense that guitar and keys are.

I'm just gonna stick with the 4 pads and a green cymbal.

Though pro drums can accomadate one cymbal as well according to some of the recent videos. Meaning if you do have only one or two cymbals you can go into the options and put in that you only have those colors and it'll chart the pro cymbals for them if you so wish.

Bah, I still use GHWT drums, lol. I like the yellow is a raised cymbal (note, I drum on Hard at best). Stupid RB1 drums not worth a damn *grumble grumble

The 2 cymbal set is clearanced at Best Buy for $20

I also saw the stage kit cleananced for 1/2 price ($25). Will Rock Band 3 even support it? I doubt it. It would take another input.

Actually, in RB3 if you have two pedals there's an option to turn on a highhat pedal. There's a bit too much customization in you can turn on/off individual cymbals and the highhat stuff.

How does it work with the RB2 drums and game if you have 2 pedals plugged in? Just another bass pedal? That'll make those double bass fast notes easier.

Hm, probably in for a few of the Anthrax songs...wish Madhouse wasn't live but oh well. I hope Among the Living is the newer version with John Bush on vocals. Have loved that version since it was used for the Clerks 2 teaser years ago.

May grab Long Train Runnin' too.

All the Bob Marley and the Wailers stuff is amazing. Even if they are all easy. He's such a damn genius and the songs are brilliant so I can look past the difficulty.

I also picked up Holy Diver by Dio. Pretty simple song on guitar until the solo hits. Took me a few tries before I hit 100% on the solo. Can't wait for Rainbow in the Dark on RB3.

Will get "Indians", "Among the Living", "Welcome to the Black Parade" and maybe the Doobie tracks (huh-huh, he said "Doobie").

If the other Anthrax tracks were not live versions, I'd probably have sprung for those, too.

Looking for an answer to this -- is there any difference between the Rock Band 2 drums and the Beatles drums besides cosmetic appearance? The responses I've found online so far run the full spectrum, so apparently one drum set is both louder and quieter than the other!

The Beatles drum set has a bit more bounce and bit more louder then the RB2 drum sets. Though really if you're not always drumming expert on every song or have the drum covers on you won't really tell too much of a difference. So really not that big of a jump in difference as the drum set from Rock Band 1 to Rock Band 2.

Hells yeah! I guess my wishes have finally come true and we are getting some Anthrax (and the good old Belladonna 'thrax too!). Time to dust off the mic!

Bob Marley and now Anthrax. Rock Band is on a roll, this is awesome.

I personally would have picked a lot of songs before I'm the Man, (just because musically there is not a lot going on) but it will be fun anyway.
I Am The Law would have been a great choice I think.
Why are most of the other Anthrax songs the studio recordings and this one isn't? And don't give me that crap about original masters having degraded too much
If this is the true reason for the LIVE tracks , why can't they use the "Spreading the Disease" CD or an MP3 recording and use that as the source material?

The reason they need the masters is that the audio is originally recorded as seperate tracks (guitar, vox, bass, drums). A CD or MP3 is a single stream therefore would not let you play each instrument seperately.

Silly question, but why not... does anyone know, for music that's old enough for this to exist, obviously, does an 8-track tape literally have 8 different tracks, most likely one for each instrument? Could those be used as a substitute for master tapes for some older classic rock?

No, I meant the 70's consumer format. :dunce: I didn't know if the title referred to the number of tracks per song, or the number of tracks/songs per album. I just did a little wikipedia check, and realized that it is the latter. In fact, it was typically four stereo tracks, thus eight total tracks, per album. So the "A" and "B" sides of an LP would typically each be cut in half. Wow. My generation really missed out on this awesome technology, eh?? #-o

Anyway, like I said, silly question, forget I asked...

Any indication of a 5 pack bundle for the Anthrax songs? I want to get them all but am stuck with freaking 790 MS points, 10 points short of buying them all individually.

There will be a five pack bundle for 680 points so you don't need to get them individually.

Goddammit, Madhouse pulled a Breaking the Law and just let the damn audience sing "Madhouse" so you don't even get that charted.

Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce you to StringCheeseCR, AKA "the dude who got his RB3 keyboard bundle early"

Pretty much any time there are more than two songs for an artist, there is a discounted bundle. I didn't have the info at the time I updated the OP originally. It's pretty much always the same pattern though, I should probably have them memorized by now.

That's interesting. I remember back when people got Beatles early, it was blocked out of view on all Gamercards until 9/9/09. I think a few other games have been blocked too.

I have a friend who works at GameStop on my list, but the earliest I usually see stuff show up on his Gamercard is about a week before release dates.
yes on the Stage Kit
You just need a free controller slot (on the Xbox "ring of light") and it will work. When you've got guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums all hooked up, you'll have to sacrifice the Stage Kit. It's a decent compromise since I was afraid it just wouldn't work at all.

Is there something going on with PS3 RB3 game/keyboard bundles? Neither Amazon or Gamestop has it available for preorder, even though they have the 360 and Wii bundles.
