Sears Clearance Thread Summer 06

Status
Not open for further replies.
Update:
Almost all of the games in Novi, MI have been marked up to 9.99 or 14.99 with a generic red sticker. There are a few random clearances left though...
This is true of most Sears stores. If they happen to have anything left it's likely to be $10 or less by now. Everything else is out of the system and will likely ring up as: Video Game, and is stickered $10 or $15, just like the games at Kmart that went out of the system.

Since the previous "weird Sears clearance thread" is a bit outdated and a bit difficult to read, I decided to go ahead and make a new clearance thread to follow in the same format as the infamous Target clearance threads.

From the previous thread: http://cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76977
Here's a compiled list of everybody's finds so far in the thread. The price following the game title are the different reported prices.

All prices and availability is YMMV, and a lot of it seems to depend on the cashier. A lot of these games aren't in the system, and in many cases they won't sell them to you. Two options here:

A)If a game isn't in the computer when scanned, the cashier can try typing in the Stock number that is on the sticker for the game on the shelf.

B)Some people have had success bringing up another known priced game and getting both for that price.

* Also to note prices are rounded UP!!
* I just want to say how much dick the posters on fat wallet enjoy sucking, for we all know this will undoubtedly get reposted over there word-for-word, with no credit to the CAG community

** All games listed below are games that I have seen, or have seen posted recently in the previous thread, I will continue to update the list as required.

*** Please attempt to post all additions as follows:

Game - System - Price
ex: Conker - Xbox - $5

**** Prices are obviously YMMV, I have listed the lowest known price, however prices may be double or half the listed price, depending on your luck.

***** My current theory is that the games marked with a "Jun" clearance sticker are actually now 1/2 price at most stores, "Jul" clearance games may drop again in September, while the "Aug" clearance games are naturally up to date.

******Prices seem to be dropping again as we near September, the actual price in some cases my now be 40% less than the listed price.

I've popped in and out of the Piscataway, NJ store and picked up:

:xbox: Burnout Revenge $7
:gc: WWE Day of Reckoning 2 $8

got the following today..

Wario Ware Twisted! [GBA]...$9.99
The Suffering: TTB [Xbox]...$4.97
SSX on Tour [PSP]...$6.97
Mortal Kombat Deception: Premium Pack [PS2]...$4.97 [$59.99 price tag on it]

I have an extra MK that I'd trade for Mario Party 5 or Mario Party 6.

Just got back from the Hackensack NJ Sears. Looks like someone went in and cleared most of it out since Tuesday. Maybe a lurker....Needless to say, No MP5 or 6 left, and the copy of BG: Dark Alliance I left there was gone. Oh well...

I found THREE copies of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 for PS2 at the Sears in Huntington Mall on Long Island. I went with a friend, they had all the games in a bargain bin, and I was digging through and pulling up BG:DA2's like they were dandelions in a field.

Also found a copy of ICO (for keeps) and will be going back tomorrow to pick up the other copy (now that I see what a sealed version is worth).

They had a couple Star Ocean: TTEoT's in the cardboard packaging left, but they were busted.. and I found one for $2 cheaper at the Toys R Us we stopped at afterward.

Not many GBA games to speak of, unfortunately..
Just got back from the local Sears and I saw...two copies of ICO. Should I get them? Is this game rare?
Go get them, and get one for me too please...
My store had about a half a dozen of these with no price on them, but I didn't get a chance to get them to check it for me. If anyone gets a chance, post the price here.
Local store had them tagged at 49.99 and they rang up that price. That's the only thing I keep checking everytime I go in there.

Be careful... I bought 2 Xbox live kits and when examining them in the car, noticed that both had been opened with the cards containing the codes already scratched off. If I hadn't just bought them, I'm sure the clerk would have refused to take them back. To make matters worse, the clerk just placed the boxes back in the video game cabinet!

forgot to mention - i opened both in the car. The subs cards were unscratched, extended subs after i got home. i guess i was lucky, sorry to hear yours was already scratched.

I was in upstate NY on vacation. Went to the Sears at the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston. I picked up Metroid Prime 2 for 9.99, Pikmin 2 9.99, and Baten Kaitos 14.99.
Added Baten Kaitos for $14.97 in addition to my other finds
Did that version of Baiten Kaitos you picked up have the extra soundtrack disc included?

i did remember seing a Baiten Kaitos with a soundtrack or whatever disc it was. they were shrinkwrap together. can't remember where i saw that.

Off-topic, where exactly were you in 'Upstate NY'? B/c i live in 'Upstate NY' which is at the top if the state, roughly 35 minutes from the canadian border...:p

Yeah, I came across Baiten Kaitos+soundtrack at a Toys R Us for 14.99 sometime back (regretted not picking it up then), which is why I wondered which version of the game turned up at that price now.

I think the Baten Kaitos soundtrack CD was a Toys'R'Us exclusive, so I don't think the ones sold at Sears would have it. It is clearanced at some TRU stores for $14.99 if you can find one. It also has a different UPC code than the one without the soundtrack.
Added Baten Kaitos for $14.97 in addition to my other finds
If it's inside the case, I don't have a clue -- I haven't opened the shrinkwrap yet.

If memory serves, you'll see it on the backside of the game case, and shouldn't need to open it up to find that out.

Then, no. That's fine, I suppose.

A few more for the OP

PSP

MVP Baseball (the one with Manny Ramirez on the front) - $6.97

PS2

Dragon Quest VIII - $9.97

XBOX

Doom 3 (reg) - $4.97
NHL 06 - $6.97

I swear this has been one of my best weeks for finding cheap games. I had assumed for the longest that my Sears did not have video games, but happened in there today to find that they do! And what is the first thing I spot for $5? ICO! I have been looking for a cheap copy forever and now it is mine.
My local Toys R Us has several of the Baten Kaitos w/soundtracks left. Should I get one? How good is this game?
It's a good game, depending on how much it goes for. Where is your TRU located and how much does that game cost there?

Yes - to confirm:

Baiten Kaitos was sold with the cd sountrack exclusively at Toys R Us.

The cd came in a small cardboard sleeve and was shrinkwrapped on the back of the snap case.

Its not a bad game at all; gorgeous graphics. For $15 its worth it.

Agreed.

Pick up an xboxlive kit at the Orange Mall, CA for $4.93! It had been returned which made them cut the price in half. It looked sealed and I opened it in the car to find an unscathed card. Also grabbed Advance Wars DS.

Kingston is far away from the canadian border. I was in the Catskillls my parents have a house there. Kingston is like 2 hrs from NYC. Exit 19 on the NY Thruway.
Price-checked a Gamecube GBA Player and it rang up at 59.99 (!!)
Sweet I'm running out to get one now!
Sweet I'm running out to get one now!
One? I'm going to get all 6 that my store had!

someone needs to punch me in the face, coz i might be dreamin or what.

went to my Sears this afternoon and out of the blue a Metroid Prime (GC) {Player's Choice} was sitting helplessly underneath those Xbox & PS2 titles. so i went up and ask the checkout staff to price check, hoping to be around $9.98. it turns out the price check returned a $4.97 price. whoa. anyways, anyone who shops at Sears Eastridge can check it up, as there are 2 copies left.

anything else on that clearance bin are those left-overs and unwanted titles for Xbox and PS2. so it may not be worth the trip, since the good ones were gone even before this thread started.
