Yeah, and the Bay Area Golflands have (had?) deals like that. But whatever. You'll learn fast enough playing against other people because the basics, such as the all important mind-games and mixups, are pretty much transferable from game to game.
they have this place called boomers where you pay $10 on certain days and you play for the whole day.
We got a Boomers in South Florida, but they never maintain the machines. 50% of the games have something wrong with them. A button stuck, joystick not responding, etc... It's not worth it to me.

thats how it is over here too.

I guess if people actually went to Boomers to play video games they'd maintain the arcades. But what's the pont when people only go to play putt-putt golf.
But an arcade version port won't have all the fighters, like Guile, right?
It won't have a proper Versus Mode either, which is especially irritating in a Capcom fighter (since the winner can't change characters).

If they did put it on XBL though, they would obviously have to change things around. And hopefully all that extra programming would make it worth the effort for them to add all the extra modes and characters. Well that's what I hope happens. Was the recent Capcom Classics Collection released on Xbox?
I put in some time with Alpha 3 for PSP and i got to say they did a great job porting it. THe game looks fantastic. It plays a lot better then Darkstalkers did for PSP and the Dpad that came with works very nice. When it comes out in the US i suggest picking it up, or if you have no patience like me, import it now.
I'm really interested in this...do you know if they are going to ship the Dpad with the U.S. release as well? I never found the normal playstation pad to be good for fighters.

I really doubt they will. THey have not said anything as of right now though.
For VFNET and TEKKENNET you could have your character 'ghost' be a cpu opponent all over the network in Japan, winning you G/$ from all over so you can customize your char later. Pretty cool... It even copies down the combos you do for the most part(In Tekken), not sure about VF5.

We need that shit! I don't see it happening though, Japan's network technology is years ahead of ours and theirs is easier to maintain.
wasn't TekkenNet developed by the Tekken team in partnership with the Sega VF team (Am2.. or whoever it is now)? That's probably why VF4 and T5 had such similar card systems.

Yeah they borrowed it from Sega. lol.

The VF customization is >>>>>>> Tekken though I'll tell you that... at least DR has much more items/customization than before...

Actually someone over at srk emailed capcom about it and they said they're going to be selling them online sometime in the future. I don't know if it's true or false. I was thinking of importing it just for this until I learned that the d pad was adhesive. Here's a pic of hydra632's psp with the pad
Hey rodimus, what the hell happened with the stats from yesterday
Yeah, I noticed all the wins didn't count. I think they don't count if you keep playing. I guess that's why people always quit playing once they get one win. Makes sense though, cause if I have a friends on X-Box live I can just keep beating him and pretty soon I'd be #1.

I did manage to get to rank #23.

My live name is DomLando if anyone wants to play some fighters. I just picked up Samurai Shodown V if anyone is up for a few matches

I need to add a lot of you guys to my friends list. I think the only guy I ever played a fighting game with on Live from CAG was The VGM.

was it the same experience talking to the vgm on cag?

To be honest he seemed fine on Live. I really don't know what caused his personality change. He was the guy who started the fighting threads in the first place IIRC. When he had the Dreamcast sig image he seemed like a pretty nice dude. For whatever reason it seemed like his Lil' Wayne avatar coincided with his more abrasive comments to almost everyone here. For some reason I never caught the brunt of his comments as much as a lot of people.

i guess he tried to fit the personalities of his avatars.

that doesnt sound like too bad of an idea though.:whistle2:k

Any of you guys into martial arts movies?

You guys gotta check out Sha Po Lang! fuckin' awesome. Best HK action movie I've seen since Jet Li's "Fist of Legend"...

The fighting to me was more enjoyable than both Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong.

what about city hunter?

hahahah city hunter was funny, I'm not a big fan of the film as a whole, I liked the anime/manga better.

But that SF scene Jackie did was just pure comedy.

As far as JC films, my favorites are still the Police Story series, Drunken Master II, Armour of God, Project A I and II and of course Wheels on Meals and Dragons Forever.

Anyone ever play the Jackie Chan fighting game?

I was talking about the fighting game for the arcade. It used digitized actors ala Mortal Kombat 1-3 lol.

The famicom one actually came out on the NES too.

Want to win some Street Fighter related prizes? There's a contest at www.vgonetwork.com check it out...

You can win a 15th Anniversary Street Fighter Arcade Joystick from Nuby Tech or those Nuby Tech SF Controllers, and more stuff.

agreed... his see through DC sig was one of my favorites on here for a while... ever since he invoked the "Love of Dan" he became an ass...

oh, and MarkMan... I entered the contest. Let's just say mine involves eating a yummy peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and that's it... no fighting...

Is Tom Yum Goong getting a stateside release at all?

i wish I grew up going to Gorin High School...

or Gedo...
Any opinions on the best version of SFIII? Xbox, DC or PS2?
PS2. It's arcade-perfect, and I've heard the Xbox version runs slightly faster than it should. Can anybody confirm that?
Is Tom Yum Goong getting a stateside release at all?
Yeah...supposedly sometime NEXT YEAR here...maybe a little sooner.

With full on Weinstein cuts, edits and probably re-scroed too.

Although for once, admittedly...the story could use some tighter editing this time.

And Sha Po Lang was great...i just wish there were more fights than juts a couple.

didn't make em... just found them on the Rival Schools network.... isn't the comic book out by now? The art is supposedly I think Alvin Lee, the same person who did the Street Fighter comics and darkstalkers...

a weird thing I found in Animal Crossing: There's an arcade machine you can buy that houses a fighting game (you can't paly it though) with Mario and Luigi and looks alot like a 2d Fighter... neato... I should buy a ton and turn my house into an arcade...

one question: any fighters available for the PS2 that are online enabled? I just got DSL yesterday and was hoping so... even though I doubt it...

oh, and check this out... pretty swanky:

I think the story arc is finally picking up into the SFII game... where previouse issues were partially alpha material.

I haven't heard of that. As far as I know, it's an arcade-perfect port as well. Really just boils down to controller preference (unless you have a stick).

I need help picking out a color combo to use on my soon to be modded SFAC arcade stick.

1. Black joystick, all orange buttons
2. Black joystick, orange lp/lk, black mp/mk, orange hp/hk
3. Green joystick, green buttons
4. Black joystick, red lp/lk, white mp/mk, blue hp/hk

Which do you guys think I should go with? I can't decide on one but those are the ones I've narrowed it down to.
3 as long as its dark green
The green would look like this

here is the red/white/blue

and I can't find any setups with the orange buttons but here is a photo of the orange buttons so you can sorta "visualize" what it would look like.

I was leaning towards the orange, but I'm just not for sure now.

Well the X-Box version of SF:III is online so that gives it alitte edge. But I do prefer the PS2 controller when it comes to 2D fighters. Never heard of the X-Box version playing faster.

Can you save replays in the X-Box version of SF: AC? That's another plus if you can.

I think Mortal Kombat: Deception is the only online fighter for the PS2.

Those comics are sweet. :)

I played some Samurai Shodown V last night. I think my record is 3 and 4 right now. I used Jubei, Charlotte, and Basara the most. I was doing pretty good until I ran up against some Yumeji player.
If enough people are availible I'll set a Samurai SHowdown V Tournement for Monday night, would anyone be intrested?
What time?
Est?
Yes EST, I'll set it up when I get home tonight, so if anyone wants to join check sometime Sunday or Monday and sign up. I've never set one up before so bare with me please.

Again - Monday 11pm EST, Samurai Showdown V tournement online.

I went to a LAN party held at my school last night and the QCF club was going to hold several tourneys in the 11 hours (8 PM to 7 AM) that the party was to last for (the order: 3rd Strike, Smash Brothers, Soul Calibur 3, MvC2, CvS2, Smash Brothers Teams) and by about 4 AM, they were about 60% into the SSBM singles tourney and the pres. was planning to do SC3 right after the Smash tourney was over. Most of us not in the tourney found that kind of stupid since most of those who would enter aren't going to watch Smash for the next hour or two for SC3 when most people were dead tired at that time. That's not my point really.

I brought Naruto 4 and my GC to the party and I set up a tourney (we voted on what type, teams barely won) and we had eight teams originally, but one dropped out as one member wasn't feeling well and left. 3 or 4 of the remaining teams were pretty tough (enough to give my roommate and I a scare), but we ended up winning. Very fun tourney to play in and everyone did well (some more than others).

I tried signing up just now but it said the cut off was 10:54 am this morning and it wouldn't let me in.

...and the sad part is hat there was no Tekken or Virtua Fighter... but then again, at least it happened...

now what we really need is a Bloody Roar tourney !(jk)
