10 dollars off 360 game
Target10OffXboxTogether.jpg

Thanks to Skube and Oxidative for this coupon. Important things to note-- this will make games ten dollars or under free, but it's advised to buy another item, such as a pack of gum.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store.
PS3 Logitech Media Board $34.98 - $10= $24.98
Shorewood, IL

gave the guy the $5 coupon he says "I need to get rid of these how about $10 off?" I replied "nnniiiccceeeeeee...."

I didn't have enough cash on me at the time so I told him I would be back for the rest of them :)
Was the media board the old (needed a dongle) or the new one?

Checked out the Lewisville, TX store over lunch. Not much worth mentioning. They had one ccopy of Simpsons 360 left at $29.98 and I think a couple PGR4s at the same price.
I really don't like this, it's clearly fraud, I just don't understand why some people think this is ok, they may as well just admit they are petty criminals.
Not always fraud. If you're trading a game for a game, or selling it to the store, that's not really fraudulent. If you're returning a game to a store you didn't purchase it from (as though you did), then THAT'S fraudulent.
What do you mean ? you cant return the game without a receipt. The only place you can return without a receipt is Walmart and they limit you to 3 a year. Correct me if I am wrong.
Wal-mart requires you to have a reciept for any electronics return, even if the game is still sealed. Apparently, this is because they don't want other stores' stock.

This is true. Wal-Mart now requires a receipt for any electronics item whether sealed or not before returns. They caught on the video game scheme even though it took them years.

Really? When did this take effect? I traded in games from Christmas & had no problems....I even told them that the games weren't from Walmart but i heard you guys accept sealed games w/ no receipt...The lady told me yes you can do it up to 3 times a year...

NOT TRUE...........
Friend of mine bought game from Target and exchaged it at walmart. Walmart wont give a giftcard(depends on person working) but will let you excahge the game for another at same price point. Friend got Army of Two.... At least this is how it works as of this weekend in Oklahoma.

My job makes me travel a lot around AL. So i hit all the Targets. Got Crackdown, Folklore and Naruto Rise of the Ninja today for 15 bucks each. :bouncy:

YMMV on that so overall IT IS TRUE. This came directly from corporate, I'm sure DX can confirm.
Either way not gonna talk about this anymore and turn this into the Let's Scam Walmart thread.

since the weather was somewhat nice, i hit up the 6 targets around my area. from what i've found all have PGR 3 and 4 at $14.98 and $29.98 respectively, NHL 2K8 at $29.98, and The Simpsons at $29.98. Stranglehold was also pretty much at $29.98 at all stores except one where i picked mine up for $14.98, they had about 5-6 left in the case. i wouldn't mind going back to help someone out if they could hook me up with simpsons
Check other targets in your area. I have had this happen to me, and I asked an employee and he said they were just 'moved" to a bigger target about 10 miles away. Went there, and sure enough they had had 'em. I am not sure if they still do this, since this was well over 2 years ago.
Checked around and they were gone @ the other stores, but I did spot a Stranglehold (360) for 14.98 and snagged it.

MediaBoard was still $55 at my Targets. I'm on travel right now and it was the same price there....had to kill some time at Target. They didn't have anything good. F1 still $30. Had a Stranglehold for $15....but I already finished the game.

Oh well.....nothing for me again....

I just picked up GC controllers from Mad Catz for $1.87 at the Metro North Target in KC MO. No other good clearance items there.

why are some targets priced differently? clearence is something I wouldnt think would be YMMV. I went to mine and Viva Pinata Party Animals was 20.98 and Crackdown was the same. I had the price get checked and the tags werent wrong. Also Jericho was still 59.99 and that says it was clearenced 2 months ago.

when you guys see the price is it on the sticker or are you scanning it. b/c they are on clearance in san antonio but for 41.98. and theres hardly anyone around the electronic section.
when you guys see the price is it on the sticker or are you scanning it. b/c they are on clearance in san antonio but for 41.98. and theres hardly anyone around the electronic section.
the majority of the time its on the clearance sticker on the product. the price change team does a somewhat decent job most of the time to place new stickers on product. there are rare occasions that they miss product though

Sometimes it's a little of both. On occassion I see games listed as one price on the red tag sticker (or no sticker at all) and other times the correct game price is on the game.

How is "selling it to the store" not fraudulent? Since when did stores buy their inventory at cost? It may come as a surprise to some, but stores buy their inventory below the cost they sell it, and raise the price to cover things like salaries of employees and the cost of powering a large building. They also do it so they can make something called a profit, which evil people called capitalists use to make a living.
Going to a store and selling an item to them at the same cost they're going to sell it (assuming they don't have to clearance it and take an even bigger loss) is stealing. You're taking advantage of a system that the store put into place for honest people who don't have their receipt. Don't try moralizing and saying you're doing nothing wrong, because the fact is you're taking money out of their pockets and putting into your own.

Yep it happens. My local Target still had two copies of Dead Head Fred for the PSP marked as 29.99 when I stopped by today. I asked the clerk to scan it anyways, and he was shocked when it rang up 7.45 or whatever. Lol, then he took the tag out of the case to update it.

I agree 100%. I admit to doing this a couple of times while i was a student, but now that i make some real money, I have seen the error of my ways, lol. Just trade the games you don't want here for games that you do want. Either that or use goozex to get points for games. Hell i got 900 points for folklore, used that to get motor storm and virtua tennis.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! Fight the pooooooooooooooooooooooooower, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

Saw 2 copies of Stranglehold at my local store at the $14.98 price point. I debated picking one up for trade, but I guess I'll just keep going back until PGR hits $14.98.

Oh, Supreme Commander hit $14.98 as well.
How is "selling it to the store" not fraudulent?
Because if the store is willingly buying it from you, it's a valid business decision. Gamestop's primary business is built off buying games from individuals, however Gamestop generally requires those games be opened at least. Other stores may buy it from you, or offer a trade-in value for it.

I didn't want to call it a trade-in because in many, if not most cases, you will be selling the item to the store. I wasn't expecting it to be confused, as I explicitly stated I was against return fraud (like demanding a full refund from Wal-Mart when you just bought it for $10 on clearance elsewhere).

Look your thinking is just all wrong, just because you think that you're just swapping a game, and therefore not effecting the stores total inventory, and or profits is just full of bad moral justifications. The simple fact is the store has not authorized you to do what you're suggesting. Just because you replace one green shiny case with another does not mean the values are the same, so what if the difference in value is only a dollar, do you steal candy bars whenever you feel like it. After all you're assuming the game will be sold, and that the actual cost/profit margin on game A vs game B is the same.

You just need to either grow up or accept the fact that you're a crook, it's not working the system when you don't actually follow the rules.

Going to check my Target to night and PRAY they finaly price dropped... As for the crook in this topic.. we busted on of his sort at my job other day... Was funny stuff :p

Why do you keep assuming that when I say "swap it for another game" that I'm talking about "with the store thinking *they* sold it to you"? I'm not.

AGAIN, for those who can't seem to read

If a store (such as gamecrazy, rhino games, player-2, gamestop, etc), who makes a business of BUYING games from PEOPLE are BUYING or TRADING a game with you, that's perfectly fine. It's THEIR choice whether or not they want to do business with you.

I'm not talking about buying a Target clearance item and returning it to wal-mart. I'm talking about buying a Target clearance item, and SELLING (not returning) it to a store like Gamecrazy, Gamestop, Rhino, Player-2, etc, or TRADING it for a game that's "equal value" for whatever they were going to give you for it. If you spend $14.98, and they're offering $20+, great. Trading comes into play because trade-in value is ALWAYS higher than cash value.

This is not to be confused with "pretending" you bought a game from a particular store when you didn't.

Seriously, I'm NOT TALKING ABOUT DEFRAUDING STORES LIKE YOU SUGGEST.

Again, I never said anything advocating return fraud. Quote my whole post and check. I'm sorry you misunderstood.

Hesitate to weigh into this thread...but this has bugged me for a long time.

First, I agree that if you buy a game for on the cheap, and a store will give you more than you paid for it, then that is just plain good capitalism as long as there is no mis-representation.

What is not ok in my book is this idea of buying a game from one store and then abusing return policies and returning it to another store for a full (larger) amount. I know a lot of people think it is no big deal...."hey, they paid me $50 for the game and that is what they are selling it for, so they are not hurt" is not true. Firstly, stores are generally not in business to break even. Most of the time when they sell a game for $50, they paid much less than that..the difference being this thing known as "profit" that the use to keep the lights on, pay employees, etc.

So yes, I think people who buy crap and then try to make out under false pretenses (ie. paid $20 at one store and then drive down the street with the "Gee...my grandma gave me this game for my birthday, but I already have it...can I get $50 store credit for it?) are dirtbags. Technically not criminal, but dirtbags.

If you feel differently, next time you do this walk into store B be honest and say "hey....I bought this down the street for less than you are selling it for...how about you buy it from me for how much you are charging" and see what kind of reaction you get.

I feel the same way about the scumbags that return stuff to Costco. About 6 months ago some hillbilly and his family were trying to return some ancient Xbox (not a 360...I was in line behind them). Hillbilly boy and his family kept all the boxes and receipts and this looked like a guy who most mornings has a hard time finding his keys. Because they no longer had xbox's...surprise! he got to get the full purchase price applied to a new 360. This tells me that this guy does this crap all the time...on TV's, etc...gets a few years use out of them, and then returns them for new stuff and then just repeats the cycle. I am glad Costco changed their policy here recently. In the long haul, I know I am paying incrementally more for my stuff than I should be because I indirectly subsidize these kind of scumbags. Some people think that if they can get away with it, why not (umm...maybe because it is wrong?).

There are CAG's...and then there are SCAG's.....you can probably figure out what the S stands for...

You know, you're right the original post was missing, and I did look for it to see what the entire post read, in it's absence I assumed the quote I saw, was actually your point of view.

What you're describing is "TRADING" and absolutely legit, not sure what you said in you're earlier post that triggered a mod delete, but we're on the same page and my comments only apply to the original person who triggered my moralizing.

Can we please keep this thread to Target Clearances only, please? Morality, Fraud and Trade Ethics are not deals... trust me... if they were... I'd purchase morality myself.

Damn, I knew I should have held onto my copy morality.

It's been a craptacular week for clearance, other than my 1000 points gained through Avatar, there was little to no reason to stop off at the 8 targets I visted this week :)

The local Goodwill picked up all the Tabula Rasa's but they want 10$ for them, If they were real games and not pay as you go I would bite, but I'll be damned if I'm paying 10$ for 30 days of gameplay. Hell, I still on occasion go back to Guild Wars, that ncsoft is the right way to sell games.

The Simpsonville SC store has 3 copies of the Simpsons for 360, still at $24. They have tons of PGR4, PGR3, Stranglehold, Avatars, F1 Racing for PS3, but they are all still at the 50% prices. They had four of the Logitech Playgear Amps for PS3 at $13.98.

I found Dead Head Fred (PSP) - $7.50 and Element of Destruction (DS) - $10. My first Target clearance deals in months (for video games at least).

Scooped up a Blue Dragon for $15 yesterday. Last one I found in the case. Was looking for one of the $10 Quake Wars, but no luck. Guess I need to keep looking for that one. I also grabbed a VGA cable for ~$12.50.

Did you leave any of the Blue Dragons? and did they have any other 360 games?
North Bergen - Miraculous Appearances

Blue Dragon (360) - $14.98
TH Project 8 (XBX) - $9.98

These weren't on the shelves earlier, but just appeared.
The New Tampa SuperTarget in Wesley Chapel, FL, had plenty of :360:Stranglehold and :360:Crackdown behind glass each for $14.98. Only price listed was the regular shelf price, so don't let that fool you. It never gets old seeing the shocked look on the employee's face.

this isn't on the list but Warhawk for ps3 w/o the mic appeared for 9.9x. There was only one copy tho. The target that I went to weren't putting their games at the clearance pile, but at the 19.99/29.99 sections.

I picked up Strangehold (360) for $14.98. I really liked the demo, but was not into $59.99. But for this price, can't be beat.
