This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy. If you try be sure to bring a smile and a lollipop.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I just couldn't help myself. I just tried to stash games in the electronics section. There's a couple of games I'm waiting for to drop and my store always has someone come and clean them out. Sorry CAG, I have sinned. But I probably didn't do a good job of hiding them anyway. C'mon Monday price drop!

I hit another Target (St. Louis... South County) after work today hoping to find something...

They had like 8 or more copies of the following 360 games:
Pure
Rainbow Six Vegas 2

And a few (like 2) Lego Indy and Ninja Gaiden 2...

But none of them reflected a newer price drop. So I'm passing right now.

Another one in St. Peters had no clearance games but 2 Racing Wheels for $50....

Stopped by the local store today. Didn't see anything worth my money (A Forza 2 driving wheel for the low price of about $68.00).

On a separate note, I saw that all games outside of the locked cabinets are now covered with a special lock (similar to blockbuster cases). The security people were discussing how this will be used to curb stealing. A good idea I guess, but I hope it doesn't interfere with the price markdowns. Hate to have to scan every clearance game just to check.

What are the rules governing clearance items? I picked up the 120GB 360 HD at $125 ($133.85 after taxes in IL) today but I was hoping I could go back in later (if it drops to the 89.98 price) and get Target to pricematch the difference.

Kung Fu Panda is $29.99 for the 360 here and it's not even on clearance. That's the normal price at my local Target now. The PS3 version is on clearance for $27 and some change.

Very YMMV on that. Some have posted success in doing a return and rebuy while others (like myself) have gotten shut down. I was told more or less clearance items are as-is and I can't get the price drops on them.

Even if I don't open the plastic casing, keeping it pristine along w/ the receipt? Hmmm, I guess it's something to consider in the next few days. Nonetheless, $133 isn't bad (though not spectacular) for a 360 hd. It's still a ripoff when viewed solely as a hard drive however. :bomb:

yesterday, a friend of mine found a 120 gig hd for $90 at a Target in Fresno. he visited three others before this one and they were all sold out.

anyways, i was hoping he could grab me one since my target here in Vegas still has them for $125 but that Target in Fresno only had one. bummer. later that day though he went to CC and they had one 120 gig hd selling for $139. on a whim, he brought it to the cashier and asked if they could price match it with target. my friend presented the Target receipt that said "XBOX 360 Accessory." the employee was either brand new or clueless because she told him she had to get the manager's approval. the manager was busy and her line was getting long so after a short while she asked another coworker how to do a price match and he did it for her and my friend walked out the door with $90 hd for me :)

oh ya that same day, my friend's brother found a 1 terabyte external HD in a "blue sticker" clearance bin at a Best Buy in Fresno. he asked an employee if it was part of the clearance since it had no sticker but was in the bin. the employee said, "if it's in the bin then it's clearanced out" so my friend brought it to cashier and it rang up normally at $200 but he told the cashier it was in the clearance bin. the cashier said "i gotta check with my manager." ironically this manager was also busy so the cashier manually did the price change and my friend's brother got the hd for $130.

what a weird Veteran's day heh.

gonna go look for SH. I actually got price adjustments on items a couple of times, this other Target I had no luck at all as the employees are well trained about their clerance policy.

In that picture why is Lady on 360 and Trish on PS3?

I really think these 120gb HD are going to be well worth the money soon.
People with NXE are really loving the "install game to hard drive" option.
I certainly look forward to a quiet 360 finally.

Yep, I bought Madden 09 CE for the PS3 a month or so ago when it hit clearance. I wanted to wait until it hit 75% off but ended up getting it at 50% off because they were going so quickly. I kept it sealed with the receipt for a couple weeks until the price dropped again. Of course once it did drop the remaining copies disappeared so I went to the CS desk to try to get an adjustment and got shut down.

I've seen others post here saying that they were able to do it fairly easily so it just depends on your store.

Now for the first time I'm taking a chance at the CAG clearance "Layaway" program. I've stashed a couple games that I want to get on the cheap and I've got my barcode sheet so I can check the prices at the scanner each week.

Too bad that this is an epic fail when the other copies of the games are bought and there are none left come markdown day. Then you got a game that is 14.98 every where else selling for 29.98 still because some dumbass hid it. Then you bring it up to the front and it shows up not hidden and they sell it to you at the last price listed, you deny and then you are SOL as the 17 year-old pizza face working in electronics sees it and grabs it to play in his mom's basement.

I just went to target yesterday and got MLB the Show 08 for $14.99
They also had most of the other things mentioned here in the thread but not yet below $29.99
They did have a few copies of FF Tactics for PSP for $9.99
There's no "epic fail." Price markdowns happen even with the game is not in stores or on "layaway."
This is correct at almost all stores. But let's make sure to keep brining this up every other page of posts...

Even though this has not been found to be 100% accurate, it's pretty close. Maybe this is something that can be added to the OP? It comes up very frequently.

Damn, I'd definitely be down for Ratchet & Uncharted in the sub $20 range, but like Heavenly Sword, I'm sure they'll be long gone before then.
There's no "epic fail." Price markdowns happen even with the game is not in stores or on "layaway."
This depends on the store and how competent the clerks are. I bought a copy of PopCap Arcade on clearance for $4.99. The following week, I went back, and there was one more copy left without a price on it. When I attempted to scan it, it came up as 'out of system'. So, after waiting for 10 minutes for one of the incompetent guys in the Electronics department to give me a price, the best they could offer was the original msrp of $19.99.

If the game doesn't get marked down at that particular store, it may end up in limbo. At that point, you're at the mercy of how incompetent the staff can be.

This is not accurate 100% of the time. I've seen "hidden", last copy games drop from $41.XX to $14.XX over time.

$4.98 was the lowest it should have gone, the next markdown would have been the "out of system"...you waited too long.

Kudos. You're finally taking advantage of the Target Employee Pricing Program. I'm glad to see Target following the car companies on this one.:p
It's nice to hear this selfish tactic is becoming more widespread amongst CAG members.
Boo Hoo! If you're so interested in filling the pockets of retailers then buy full price instead of clearance. Sure this topic can be debated both ways, but it's not hurting anyone. If it was hurting retailers they'd have done something a long time ago due to their own employees doing the same thing.

Clearance games aren't kept at higher prices in certain areas because copies are hidden. Games are marked down automatically in the system and if it gets knocked out most CAG's can score a game at the last known drop.

havent been to target for a while, but they've got tons of good clearance games, just waiting now for further price drops. also my target used to have two glass cases for 360, they've now condensed it down to one. most games are already listed in the thread, but here it is again. all prices are between 31-41 bucks:

360
Civilization
Ninja Gaiden
Devil May Cry
Battlefield Bad Co
Pure
Gears of War
Rainbow Six 2

PS3
Ratchet and Clank
Silent Hill
Facebreaker

i've got my eyes on a couple of these. can't wait for the drops.
Sure this topic can be debated both ways, but it's not hurting anyone.
Tell that to the customer who would have gladly paid $41.98 for a $59.99 game, but can't, because some selfish prick who's willing to pay only $14.98 hid the last copy.

Like anything else relating to clearance games, they should've got there before us. There are so many gray areas on this site and it's just a personal preference when someone's gone too far for a deal. I see nothing wrong with the layaway tactic.
Well, I did see on PS3, Silent Hill Homecoming for 41.98. That's a rather quick price drop.
Not worth the money though.
Gotta disagree with you on that, I thought the game was excellent. Definately worth 40

If you are not willing to pay the price as is marked, then that does not entitle you to hide someone else's property until it reaches a price point you are willing to pay for it.

Let people decide if they are willing to pay a retailer's asking price. If not, it will continue to drop and once it hits your price point, then the 'got there first' rule can apply to you at that time.

It is up to the retailer to price the item and choose where to stock. Your option as a consumer is if you want to pay the price they are asking for.

Can we please derail the OT discussion of shopping morals here? There's a seperate thread for that sort of discussion in the Deals/Bragging section of the forum.

Also, talking about it here tends to stir up infighting which leads to the current thread getting canned and a new one put in its' place until the same thing happens again and again and etc.

Sorry, made me laugh. Seriously, who is that girl? I've seen the question asked many times but have yet to see an answer...

I'm half-heartedly waiting for the GHIII custom guitar faces to get cheaper than $10.xx. Anyone know if those Will work on the Wii GHIII controller? I would assume it just covers the Wii remote slot.

Second that. This subject constantly gets brought up and it just causes continuous back and forth because the "good" people with their strong morals feel those who do this are wrong and the "bad" people feel they are just because others do it and it really isn't hurting anyone in the long run; unless you over analyze and pull out meaningless BS on retailers inventory/profits...blah...blah...blah. No matter what any supposed "good" morally grounded person/member says on here we make our own choices. Just because you disagree with this doesn't mean you need to comment on it to raise yourself as morally true. Everyone is guilty of a bad moral choice and are pretty sure they know what they're doing at the time of decision. If you all want to keep whining about decisions some members make go to SaintGamers.com and discuss it. Also therre is always a hint of jealousy that triggers this because the whining "good" CAG couldn't score item X because a "bad" CAG hid one. Also from my Target history when it comes to clearance items the average consumer, non-CAG member, is mezmorized with those little red stickers and feel the first drop is a deal, so most clearance deals don't make it to even 50% off. Also I've witnessed both in Texas and Tennessee employees stashing items for themselves. This doesn't justify anyone else doing it, but that isn't for us to judge.

On Topic//

My wife scored be a Singstar 80's Bundle yesterday in Nashville for $12.48.:D

My last off topic (somewhat off topic)...

As far as hiding games and the prices still dropping... This usually is untrue, my friend used to work in electronics and do the markdowns, and when I asked him about it he said that a store won't mark a game down if they can't find it. Although it is in the corporate system as needing to be marked down, it is the stores own call as to how often or how quickly it does get marked down (reason why some markets have games at 41.98 when others already have them for 14.98). If the employee doing markdowns doesn't scan the game because he can't find it, a lot of times they rule the game as "lost merchandise".

Another way that it does work is that some stores have a tablet with the games that need to be marked down, but instead of scanning the individual games, they will just scan the tag and price will be reflected.

All in all, it just depends on the store. Don't get me wrong, I am not against hiding, but I am not condoning it. I approve of hiding in some instances. For example I go into Target on Monday and there are about 30 Devil May Cry 4 marked for 41.98. Then I go back in yesterday and there are only 4 left. In this case hide the shit. Cause otherwise you have some a-hole hoarder getting everything and screwing the people who are smart and waiting for drops.

Stopped by the same Super Target I stopped by on Tuesday. Looks like they were doing a complete overhaul of the video game section, particularly the cabinet setups (were moving games from one cabinet to another and setting up what I believe were Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 Setups.

Anyways here is a photo I snapped of one of a few clearance sections, which from the photo you can see was all video game related items.

I also managed to snag a lone copy of The Darkness for $4.99. It was out of the system but the guy in the electronics dept. remembered the last price it was set at before going out of system. I already have an unopened copy, so looking to sell this to anyone who missed out on it (cost plus shipping), so feel free to PM me.
Second that. This subject constantly gets brought up and it just causes continuous back and forth because the "good" people with their strong morals feel those who do this are wrong and the "bad" people feel they are just because others do it and it really isn't hurting anyone in the long run...

My wife scored be a Singstar 80's Bundle yesterday in Nashville for $12.48.:D
If you look back and remove actual game/price info, this thread runs in about five-page cycles of the same two or three things.

You are lucky - did they have any more? My wife is bugging me for the last 80s bundle at our store but it's still at $24.98. So I hid it. Go on everyone, judge.

I've been waiting for that one to drop. It is still at $24.98 in my area but I last checked on Monday night.

Dang it. It was $24.XX when I checked last week, but I didn't check this past Monday. I can't remember if it was Brentwood or Cool Springs (I think it was Brentwood), but there was only one copy, and the packaging was slightly broken. Is that the one you/she got?

Picked up (1) FF Tactics PSP at $9.98 (they had about 10 copies, maybe could've waited)
and (2) FF Ring of Fates at $5.04; most likely for Christmas gifts.

Was tempted by the PS2 Namco collection but passed at $20.
Lots of 360 games...
