This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy. If you try be sure to bring a smile and a lollipop.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I just want to keep tabs on it at Target because I feel like it might hit clearance when the holidays roll around and drop hard (good stuff being released and they have to make room). I'd bite at $15 for sure.

It's really not that hard to make them on the UPC database, print them from your printer, then take them to scan at any Target. Just go to www.half.com, type the item you're looking for, get the UPC code from the record, then paste it into the UPC Database here. No need to know DPCI numbers.

They are good to have when using the inventory checker online. You can also use the ASIN number but that is hit or miss.

Anybody else think that Target is getting fewer copies of games lately. I used to find stacks of clearance games and never had to much trouble getting most of them at the 75% off mark. But now I only see a few copies of the games at the first drop. It's not like they are selling a bunch on the first drop either...I'm talking Monday morning right when the red sticker goes on they only have 2 to 3 copies sitting in the case to begin with. For instance, Golden Axe never had more than six copies in the case since release. Just seems that while we are getting a lot of good clearance lately, there isn't enough stock on hand to let it ride to the 50% and 75% off prices. I think Target is playing it conservative lately when stocking video games...but I hope not.

My friend, it is very easy to scream William Ayers and make it out to Target once in a while!
And to the above poster, yeah, it seems like some titles they get less of/sell more of before it hits clearance... but there's exceptions to that. Like the Target I saw that had 55 Scene Its when it first hit clearance. But yeah, Golden Axe seems to be in very low supply. Bargain hunting soccer moms might eat up all of the Golden Axes at 29.98.

I am not sure that is the problem. The issue is probably that they cleared out most of the low volume games to make way for the slew of new ones coming out before the busiest time of year.

If I put on my business man cap for a minute, I am not sure that I would clearance too many things right before the peak season. Higher traffic generally = higher sales.

I must say that I have run into a dry spell myself - the only item I found worth my time would be Pure for the PS3, but at $41.98 I shall pass when I can get either Fallout 3 or LBP for $50 and know I will play them more than Pure.

We've seen a big push of games in the last couple of months - much more than over the dry summer. One of the main reasons stores probably moved stuff off the clearance racks in the last few weeks is for the reason mentioned above - it's the busiest electronics time of the year. The last two weeks have been HUGE as far as sheer volume of new video game releases go.

Anyway, I confirmed that these games are still at these prices at my store. They were removed from the shelves, but still scan as having several copies on the floor somewhere.

This would make sense. The less you sell, the less you order. If Target continues to over-order games and other products at the degree they have in recent years, they will go out of business. I think the only time you see a ton of any one game is when there was an error and 100 extra copies were shipped to a store OR when the game was an unexpected flop and they got stock with every copy they ordered.


Unrelated: I want Sega Bass Fishing...why won't it drop to $7.48? It's been $15 at my Target for 3 weeks now. Weird.

A few weeks? I'm lucky if I find a $14.98 game on drop day. Also, not that it would make any difference to me, did you find out which Goodwill got them? I just wonder how much they'd charge for the game.

Every Goodwill is going to have their own independent pricing structure, but as an anecdotal point, my local GW is right next to Target and gets a ton of clearanced stuff (no games though sadly). They had a memory unit for 360 for 2 bucks, a host of HDMI and HDMI-DVI cables for 3-4 bucks, and some really cheap kitchen appliances from Target that were about 60-80% off retail.

Yeah, I get lucky alot with the Target clearance games. Got most of the $14.98/$9.98 games I've wanted, over the months. Did not get Kane & Lynch for $9.98, though.

In regards to which Goodwill store: The lady at Target explained to me that they put a whole bunch of stuff on a pallet and a truck comes & picks it up. The merchandise is delivered to a distribution center where the items are sent to Goodwill stores all over. Therefore, there is no way to know what specific store. BTW, I got all this information without barely asking anything.

I also hit the Parmatown Target today around 1pm and saw Midnight Club LA (360) for $41.98 and NBA 09 (PS3) for $41.98 in addition to the ones you mentioned. They also had the Official Microsoft Racing Wheel for $69.98.

I think Midnight Club and NBA 09 came out around the same time as Golden Axe. That markdown didn't take very long.

Midnight Club came out last week, NBA came out on Oct 7. That is damn fast for a markdown on Midnight Club. Too bad the Target I go to lately has had nothing game related on clearance in the past 2 weeks or so.
