This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy. If you try be sure to bring a smile and a lollipop.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Picked up F.E.A.R this morning for $14.xx and didnt' see any copies of Rainbow 6 Vegas 2. Called another Target and they were out. Might hit another Target on the way home.

Kinda weird how one store will have tons of Facebreaker and Pure for 360, but no Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, Bad Company, Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry. Then again, it may only be here!

I think we have all experienced "that" employee at least once at Target. The last time I had a dumb one was when I bought my GTA IV SE. There was one left marked at $22.xx and when he brought it up to the counter he asked if "I wanted all the junk in the box. The normal game is on the shelf." I was like, "Yea I know, but it's not $22 bucks either." Needless to say I haven't seen him working there anymore.

Also, the game at my Target were all the same price as last week. One Ninja Gaiden II left at $41.xx and that's about it. Tons of DMC4s but I have it already for PS3.

Picked up a Sandisk 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for $9.98 (the last one) and a PSP On The Go Kit (the one with the Carry Case, Screen Protector, USB Cable, Cleaning Cloth, UMD Covers, and Headphones) for $7.24 (had about three left) at the new Target off of Blanco Rd. in San Antonio, TX.

The memory stick in particular is pretty funny since right around the corner they had a 1GB stick going for $30.

The main point of my post was about the introduction of anti-theft packaging affecting the space taken up by clearance games. This may be a one-off or it could be the start of a trend, in which case I thought the community should know as it will affect the availability of clearance games in the future.

As for the rest, you seem to have confused my poking fun at this hiding behavior with whining about it. There's no reason for me to whine: I get more than my share of cheap deals (largely thanks to this site), and people who hide games don't care what others think of their behavior.

You don't seem to have much of a sense of humor about this, but if you did, I'd suggest changing the (somewhat ironic) line in your signature to:
"There is no need to fight, there are items for all... but not enough items that there's no need to HIDE THEM!"

I'm done. Oh, BTW, there was DMC4 out the wazoo yesterday, I think at $30.

Yesterday I had a woman who was working her first day in electronics...alone! She actually scanned the red clearance tag with the gun 5 or 6 times before she flipped it over and scanned the bar code after I suggested trying that.

Not to jack the thread, but I recently started a seasonal position in electronics at my local Target and as someone who has been playing games a loooooong time, I'm a little annoyed that they'd rather I stock shelves than help with customers and checkout. They have two completely clueless (female - not that sex matters) employees answering questions and doing checkout. Just so you know, its not always the (idiot) employee's choice to work in the department. For a company that keeps an in house HR dept. its pretty sad how determine who works where.

Also, I've asked about how they determine price drops company wide and my understanding is that there is NO RHYME OR REASON.

I love "affordable games" not cheap games. An affordable game is a game that gives you a good amount of play for the dollar.

60 dollars for an 8-10hr hour one and done action game is not an affordable game. cough NG 2 and DMC 4

It’s a gray area for me and I don’t do it because if I had a business of my own , I wouldn’t like it if people did that to me .

What does really suck is at my target some fool was opening the clearance games and stealing them . I brought the empty cases to an employee and he couldn’t believe someone was stealing twenty dollar games . I almost told him about the hide and seekers but I figure karma has its own plan .

Oh yeah carlsbad target has a few hard drives at $90 and some DMC's and a ton of Pirates of the Caribbean ----- how come no ones hiding those ?

Now, I had went Monday and NOT seen those drops. Seeing as there were at least five copies of Pure there at the time and there was the lone copy left when checking stuff out, I had to snag it before it was gone.

I may make a brave attempt to go to Merrillville before work to see if perhaps anything had dropped over there (btw, there were no new drops on Monday there, either). But if there's anything you guys were looking for to drop, you might as well head out and check to see if whatever you want is still there.

By far one of the funniest comments made on hiding items. Regardless of where members stand on the whole hiding games is irrelevant because none of us have a clean moral record and if you do kudos. We've all done something wrong. Yes I agree hiding is wrong in respects that it possibly could one day effect clearance selection or clearance in general. However, I'd rather help grow mine and fellow CAG's collection with cheap/er titles instead of letting FW's, SD's or just the common consumer buying these at the 15-30% markdown. I wonder if all the moral police in this thread ever thought that their asses might have got hooked up with a hidden game from a fellow CAG. They'd probably find a way to tap dance around that scenario saying that they didn't do the hiding. Kudos to all of you who supposedly have these strong, unbreakable morals, but I highly think anyone has followed that straight and narrow path their entire life. Maybe there should be a debate forum on this site. Every week Cheapy or the Mods could throw up a new thread with a topic for the community to give there two cents. I enjoy hearing/reading other members opinions on topics even if I disagree with them.

On the topic of this thread I was a little shocked this morning that my clearance section wasn't picked over. Now of course this was early morning and items could be gone now, but there were still copies of Pure, Battlefield, Civilization and a few more 360/PS3 games at my store.

Last year there was a massive clearance of games in early/mid november and I thought they'd all disappear on BF, but they went mostly ignored and I ended up getting several games for 75% off eventually, so hopefully it goes the same this year.

Frankly, in a store like that, it doesn't work, they don't keep shelves very stacked, and nothing can be hidden on a shelf somewhere for long, which is why the stuff is clearanced to begin with...because it hasn't been moving off the shelves.

Darn... I'd love to grab Civ for that price. I checked my Target Wednesday night and didn't find any deals at all. The only thing that even interested me was Age of Conan, but it was about $20 too much at $27.99. Was hoping for a Tabula Rasa kinda deal on it (less than $1 heh).

Went to my local Target after work on Friday and found someones hidden stash of clearance games. Picked up Pure and Civilization for Xbox360 for $14.98 each. Both were marked at $29.98 and were in the PC software section behind some children's games all the way in the corner (was looking for something for my son). I felt like I was living in Fallout 3 and found an ammo box in the SuperMart!!!
