This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy. If you try be sure to bring a smile and a lollipop.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

These were for the 360 right? I think I remember seeing them

at the same target I picked up DMC4 (360) $15, Fight Night RD3 (360) $14 and Pure (PS3) for $15 (pure was out of system and manager gave me that price)

This has been hotly disputed. My experience, when I worked there and spoke with the price change team about clearance, was that they just process the markdowns that are sent to them with their little machine. No scanning of the product is required to make it drop.

Someone else also confirmed this, adding that the price change team may elect not to drop the item if they can't find it (figuring it may be sold out or stolen or whatever)

My experience is different. I'm almost positive my friend () once hid the last copy of Heavenly Sword at $30 and it eventually dropped to $15. However, maybe there was another copy that was scanned at one point for get the next drop, which I guess is possible.

If that's the case then what is the purpose of even hiding an item? I mean you would only hide it to make sure you get it and why wouldn't you be able to get it if it's out on the shelf?

From what I can tell, price drops do not have to require an item being on the shelf. My local Target store by me hasn't had items like the 360 120gb hd or the steering wheel - but their DPCIs show the items at their currently lowest-priced listings. Of course, YMMV with this.

Did you just score Pure there? I hadn't seen it anywhere in this area for at least 2 or 3 weeks. I never saw any 360 versions of it.

In that Cranberry store and others in Pittsburgh they are big on putting alot of games on shelves and end-caps that ring up as generic NCF games for 29.99. There are a ton at that Cranberry store that have been there forever (at least 6+ months). Orange Box, Warhawk Bundle, Ironman, Hulk, AC, Turok etc. A bunch of Wii games too. I'm not sure how they have not put these all on clearance yet to try to move them. Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe the fact that they are setup to ring up as NCF in the system stops them from hitting regular clearance cycles.

The purposes are debatable. If you're a gambling person, you might secure yourself a copy of a sought-after game at a lower price. But as stated, this depends on the Price Change Team at that particular Target and it can backfire. The Team can "zero" the item out and the single copy you hid (and that the Team can't find) will be placed "out of system". You'll then be at the whimsy of whoever is checking you out for the final price. You may have denied yourself and a fellow CAG the chance at a deal.

I find hiding items despicable and too much of a gamble for my taste, so I choose not to do it.

Nope.

They'll drop whenever.
At some point, they'll be zero'ed out, but way after the markdown cycle for the store.

Yeah I just got that Pure last night (I think it was on the endcap with the maddens) - I much rather have it on the 360 but like you said I haven't seen it on clearance at all

And I agree about all the games marked as NCF - I think the same exact 50-60 games have been there for months (I still always scan 1 or 2 to make sure - but no dice so far)

Silent Hill: Homecoming still chillin at $29.95, has been for two weeks. No price drops that i can recall other than a few additions of Liksys router's to the bottom of the rack and Collectors Edition of Madden 08 at $41.98.

Anyone else have random electronics with the games? Several other Targets in the area have split clearance racks, some with just games, others with electronic items (e.g. clocks, cd player, ipod accessories) along with games..on the opposite of electronics or sometimes the entire store.

since i was so fed up with searching for games.. as soon as i walked in i went to CS to search for the games in my area. After holding up a line lol I went to the games section only to find out they had every single one i was looking for.

Even though I scanned the DPCI it showed nothing in stock, as the game(s) as in multiple copies were behind the glass. So I can defiantly rule out someone returning them. So thats probably one of the reasons they said they didn't have it when i called over the past few weeks. They searched by the DPCI showing oos when in fact they had plenty. Has anyone have this happen?

Picked up Ratchet, Silent Hill, NBA09, and Army of Two all for PS3 at the prices listed.

Saw a lot of GH bundles. Aerosmith 360 bundle for ~$49.98: meh if you picked it up at BB for $30 AC, but there it is. Also GH III bundles for the same price. And GH II 360 (game only) for ~$14.98.

Aerosmith PS2 (game only) is ~$27, more than Aerosmith PS3 (game only) at about ~$20. Amusing.

I just had a vision of Frosty and his pals trying to hide a GH bundle box; maybe the one with 2 guitars. With creativity like this, we need not fear our current economic crisis - America's future is bright indeed.

callling never works. they either are too busy to look for it and tell you they don't have it, or they buy it for themselves. so i'd think twice about calling for clearance games.

Irvine (Marketplace) and Irvine (Culver) had GHIII Aerosmith Bundles for PS3 or XBox360 at the $49 price point. I bought one of each for xmas gifts.

And seems everywhere has the PS3 GTAIV Collectors for $44-62 and Madden Collectors XB360 for $44

My brand new target by my house is ING empty and the clearance section has been ravished. EVEN sold out of those GH: Arrow Smith games no one wants. I was going to wait for 'The Witcher' to go down in price. I think it was like 27ish and they had 3 copies. I came back the next day and they were gone.

I should have also bit on the Gears of War 2 disk games for 9.98.

Those have been sprinkled around every Target I've been to. One had probably 40 of 'em. For the collectors, the Jolly Roger is by far the hardest to find in my experience.
