This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

At the Target in Kelso, WA, I saw quite a few of the 360 games for the prices mentioned here (I picked up Ace Combat 6 for $20.98, Lego Batman for $34.98, Virtua Fighter 5 for $9.98), but what shocked me was seeing (and also purchased) Devil May Cry 4 for $7.54 (85%) off.

Other items of interest were Soul Calibur IV, Tomb Raider: Underworld and the Bourne game (Supremacy?) for $41.98 each (gonna get SCIV, but will wait until at least 50% off for that one) and DS Lock's Quest for $13.98.

went to my target 2 days in a row, vf5 and haze were still the old price ($14 and $21) but got viva pinata for ds for $14

My Target had no VF5 for 360, just for PS3. Sigh.

Tons of Unreal Tournament 3, NASCAR '09 and Soul Caliber 4 though. Can't wait for those to drop below $20! (Granted NASCAR '09 is 20.98, but I'd pick it up at $9-$14!)

Saw Far Cry 2 for 41.98 and some other games but nothing else caught my eye. I hid a copy of Far Cry 2 and will wait till they drop the price. Hope they don't find lol:lol:

Your a douche for hiding games....

Oh lord let's not start this debate again...

The Target closest to me hasn't had much of anything for a couple weeks now. I checked yesterday and I think the best game was a $4 copy of Mr. Driller for the GBA.
Your a douche for hiding games....
fuck, here it comes, seriously who cares if you hide games or not.

Farcry 2 is a good game, for anything under $40 its a steal

I've never chimed in on this before, but hell -- I've had two glasses of wine and I'm feelin' preachy. Here's my $.02:

The spirit of CAG, IMHO, is to help out fellow CAGs to find bargains. I find something worthwhile, I report on it, somebody besides me benefits. I feel good, justice is served, yada yada yada...

If you hide games you're only hurting the community. We've got CAGs of all shapes and sizes. Perhaps one CAG finds $41.98 to be too much, perhaps another doesn't. You report on finding a title at $41.98 and somebody buys it -- guess what? You just helped save someone over $18 off of retail.

Feel good. Help a CAG. Don't be selfish.

Target in Germantown, TN (just off Poplar) had quite a few titles on clearance this past weekend. I saw Fracture for 27.xx, but decided to pick up Virtua Fighter 5 Online (360). I was gonna get it a while back for $20 on PS3 at Walmart, but glad I waited!

Amen brother :applause:

I would add that I hate it when people brag about getting a deal and then buy multiple copies to sell on ebay when there are other CAG brothers that would like to be part of the deal.

I just got back from the N Capital, San Jose Target. Saw Rock band one for 97.98 [20-22-0166], Disney's Bolt for 20.98, Line Rider (pc) for 4.98 - [20-02-0090]

I found a copy of Clive Barker's Jericho that was apparently hidden in Target for some time. The clearance price was $35 and the scanner didn't recognize the game. I asked the clerk what the price was and he told me that it was no longer in the system...so it was what the price tag said. I know that game dropped to at least $9 in my area, but it had been in hiding so long it was dropped from the register.

The flip side to that is that over in the CC thread people are telling you to hide stuff. I don't really see the difference. Why is it okay to hide at a CC liquidation sale, but not at Target?

I don't have a particular stance in this argument, I just want to hear the reasoning behind this.

Probably because the people telling you to hide stuff at CC are the guys hiding stuff at Target, too. :) Personally, I don't give a rip what people do because it's all part of the "game." Where one CAG draws the line is never going to be in the exact spot as another.

It's because Davestation hid them all ...

Always the one you least expect ;-)

Dude ... cuz the Target thread folks have class ... those people over in the CC thread are barbarians ...

lol, the Target I work for in Glen Burnie Maryland, has been doing alot of resetting. They've been going through aisle by aisle day after day removing the shelves and such looking for hidden clearance while resetting their product. Hopefully this isn't happening to anyone else. My advantage is that I can hide something in the backroom n_n.

I really don't mean to threadjack (yet here I go) so I'll stop at this comment with my apologies to the OP and everyone who has contributed to this thread. If anyone would like to continue this off-topic discussion please feel free to PM me.

With regards to hiding games, I don't see it's ever beneficial to anyone save the person hiding the games -- regardless of whether it's at Target, CC, or anywhere. Speaking to the latter, I assume it's very much akin to rearranging chairs on the Titanic: the CC-ship is going down, so many people have a "every man for himself" attitude. Oh, yeah, and the people in the CC thread are barbarians. ;)

My logic -- if you're kind enough to call it that -- holds true at CC even now: if you're hiding games you're doing so for yourself and yourself only. You're not helping the CAG community in anyway whatsoever. The intent behind hiding games is to unfairly "reserve" titles so that only the hider can purchase them at a price point s/he finds most beneficial. Doing so runs completely opposite to the spirit of CAG; instead of sharing deals with fellow CAGs so that the majority may benefit, the hider is instead abusing the information others have shared so that only s/he may benefit.

(I acknowledge that a percentage of people who hide clearanced games don't visit the CAG and therefore aren't abusing the information we strive to provide, but as a counterpoint that same percentage of people aren't posting to the forums about having hidden anything.)

I don't do it, I ask that y'all don't do it, and yet I must accept that people will do it. My intent with this rant is to try to dissuade anyone sitting on the fence.

Feel good. Help a CAG. Don't be selfish.

Ok i gotta say that i think hiding a game (or anything else) is okay as long as you're just hiding one....if your a hoarder and hiding 3 or 10 copies of a game then that's not cool. i've personally had an eye on a game that i'd just love to play so i've hidden one game before and when it finally hit that sweet price it made getting the game so much more worthy. Just my 2 cents.
I heard Fable 2: LE was on clearance is this true?
At the store in Glen Burnie, MD(One I work at, as stated above), I've seen a copy or two in the back room with the orange tag on it. Didn't get a chance to see the price though =/. I'm not sure if they've reached the floor yet or not. Basically, my target will not recieve anything other than the regular now, and has pulled any collectors to the backroom(Usually for games, it indicates a possible clearance).

I saw the Fable 2 LE for $48.XX. Only one copy. I left it for someone else.

Missed out on FFIV at 20.98, lots of Pokemon Ranger left though :/

Did pick up a 50 dollar black&decker drill & stud finder set for 12.48 down from 50

Lol, at speaking of clearenced LE games, the GS i work at has Madden 09 LE on sale for 50, but the used copy rings up for 55.

I just LOL'd and grabbed a new one for some old lady who was buying it as a gift.

Well if they were better members they would have seen Far Cry 2 for 29.99 at Best Buy a few weeks ago.....

I don't hide games but I will say hitting the clearance section at the Target next to me is fruitless anyway. One of the employees already admitted to me that he and a friend flip all of their clearance games by hiding them in the back room until they drop all the way. I tried reporting him to the manager but he's still there and the clearance games still dissapear right after the $40 price range.

Oh, and thanks for the report of Lock's Quest on the DS. Been wanting that one and never expected to be able to get it on clearance! Love those tower defence games!

Here we go again. Is this your first trip to this thread since joining in 07'. No one wants another moral back and forth here. Overall most of us know hiding is wrong and no matter what you say or think it is beneficial to CAG's here sometimes. I've scored multiple titles at a lower price for members here by hiding. We don't need to start this fucking topic in this thread here again. Take it away...far far away to holyrollers.org or some other self righteous blog out there.

Location Chino Hills CA
This is what I found today:

Face Breaker 360 = 14.98
Bourne Identity 360 = 41.98
Fable 2 = 41.98
Virtue Fighter On-line 360 = 9.98
Medal Honor Vangaurd PS2 = 9.98
Lots of other games I forgot.
Didn't buy anything though.
Did pick up a 50 dollar black&decker drill & stud finder set for 12.48 down from 50
That sounds awesome. I've been looking for a set so I can mount my tv to my wall, but I didn't want to pay more than $15 for a set!

I found line rider 2 at my target for 4.98, Saw facebreaker and rock revolution for 360 for 13.98(didnt buy facebreaker or Rock revolution) and got a dvd stand for 2.98 it holds 50

I picked up 2 copies of VF5 (X360) $9.98 for myself and bought one for a friend to play online with. They also had Rock Revolution (X360) for $13.98....I passed on that though.
They update prices on Monday's usually. Is that right?
Wrong. They usually update prices on Monday's.

I think what the newbie is trying to say is for the most part they update clearance prices on Monday. However, they might not do it until Tuesday.
Other items of interest were ... the Bourne game (Supremacy?) for $41.98 each

Bourne Identity 360 = 41.98
I love how nobody can remember the name of this game. Even Best Buy got it wrong in their coupon. Perhaps it's a plot to keep people from finding the game. A Conspiracy, even.

Maybe they need to break from the book tradition when they come out with the next movie, so people can keep them straight.
E.g., "I Wasn't Bourne Yesterday", "Bourne to Be Wild", etc.

I appreciate people telling me when the prices drop, and I'm asking if there is a chance the price will drop further for VP for DS. If not, Ill grab it this weekend. If so, I'll check back on Monday.
What are the chances that Viva Pinata for DS will drop to 50%
Depends on your store. As in, if it's there long enough, it can reach 75% off.

I can also confirm Bourne Conspiracy :360: for $41.98.

Also at my store:

LEGO Batman :360: $34.98
Too Human :360: $27.98
Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise :360: $20.98
NASCAR 09 :360: $41.98
Prince of Persia The Fallen King :ds: $20.98
Viva Pinata Pocket Paradise :ds: $13.98
Tom Clancy's End War :ds: $20.98

And a few months late, but my store has finally clearanced Silent Hill Homecoming :360: to $41.98.

Yes, there's always the chance the price will drop further. It all depends on whether it's a popular title and how much stock the store has available. If there's one left in stock you may not want to wait. If there's 10 left in stock, you can probably afford to wait until next Monday.

There were like 10 copies of the game and I hid 1 for myself. I don't think I really ruined anybody else's chances of getting this deal I just wanted to make sure I had one for myself. You guys are just getting your panties tied up in a knot just over the fact that I hid ONLY 1 copy. And I posted on here so that I could let everyone know that it was on clearance. This is the reason why so many people find deals and don't post them because you guys act like jerks and discourage them.

You are the only person that understood the reasoning. I only hid 1 copy and they still had like another 10 on the rack. I am no hoarder and I don't resell games or none of that junk. It's just that I like to buy my games at a good price and then tell people about what I found so they can find something similar too.
