This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Are they keeping some of these games in the back or something? I noticed a few games i'm interested in picking up were in stock on the site, but when I went to the store they were no where to be found.

I've been to two targets so far and gotten the same results. Is there a secret handshake or something i'm missing lol.
 
Saw one Lego Batman today dropped from $34.98 to $24.98... still too high for me.

Did see some drops for the OP:

Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise (360) dropped to $14.98 at one of the Targets on my run. (the other store didn't drop it, but they didn't seem to have done clearance markdowns yet, or else they didn't drop anything, but they were in the middle of moving the clearance section back to near the electronics section, it had been near Automotive which I think really helped on some good pickups :( )

Also, Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise (for DS - 207 02 0524) is $13.98. I grabbed it as it was the last one at the store.

So it was a Viva Pinata sort of day. Now I get to return the $20.98 VP I bought a few weeks ago. yay!

Actually yes... Yes there is. It is as follows:

One front flip
Two back flips
High-five
Stomp your left foot twice
Clap once
Snap four times
Kick the CSR in the shin
Slam your head against the glass and then
Ask for the games you want...

Should work... If not kick over the magazine rack.

The Target Clearance's are YMMV based on your store's stock and the online tracker can be very off sometimes depending on your store (much like GS's tracker). Also some stores are slower with cuts.
 
Well I guess i'm screwed then because I can't do a front flip or a back flip.

Anyways thanks I just wanted to check and make sure I wasn't missing something. The playstation 3 section at both targets only had about 18 games(all full price) so I wasn't sure if they kept clearance items somewhere else
 
Yes, they do often keep clearance items in other locations -- usually on the back endcap of a section near the games, but not always.. it COULD be anywhere in the store.

Lately some of us have noticed a move towards keeping a lot of games in with the normal games (with their new price tags) behind glass, which is a bit of a pain. I need to remember to start bringing something to write with to collect DCPI #s.
 
I've seen Silent Hill Homecoming for Xbox 360 stickered at 41.98 Has anyone else seen this at a lower price??? I didn't see it in the OP. I only found the one for PS3 that's all the way down to 14.98!!
 
Well if anyone runs across a Civilization Revolution for PS3 at their target i'll gladly paypal you the money for the game, shipping to me, and even a little extra for helping me out.

I was interested in this game, but not at $60. $15 sounds like a steal.

I thought it was clap 4 times and snap 1 time? Damn....that explains why I haven't found any games. Also explains why security "escorted" me out as well...allegedly.

In any case, all of the games at my Target were the same prices as last week save for a few RB track packs. Guess I'll wait till next week and see what goes on clearance...
 
I saw Tomb Raider Underworld for $45. I hope it drops in price fast.

I also hope I didn't miss out on Silent Hill. I was planning on waiting for the 360 version to drop to $15 but I haven't seen it in stock anywhere since last month.

Too Human is a weird game. At first I loved it, then I started getting annoyed and frustrated, then, after learning a little more about the battle system, I really started enjoying it again. I'm currently in "loving it" mode, but I'm frustrated because I have a gut feeling a sequel will never see the light of day. That's too bad, too, because a little love and attention to detail and the title could be an absolutely stellar title that would sell a ton.

For less than twenty bucks, you'll probably be safe. Just give it some time to warm up to it, and dive into the combat combos. That'll make the game more playable, and a LOT more enjoyable.
 
i've been seeing a lot of slits in game casings/shrink wrap lately. watch out before you buy. I've seen at least 5 games with stolen discs in the past month, so beware.

Yep I've noticed the same thing too. Just rub your finger along the opening and see if it's been cut. If it has, even if you hear a disc inside, don't buy it. Maybe alerting a CSR about it wouldn't be bad either. Just a thought...

Saw one and snagged one, as I was about to buy the regular edition at full price (I'm only a half-CAG, okay?) with some ebay monies I got from selling some of my vintage PC stuff. Now I need to decide - do I use the DLC, or sell the code. It would essentially mean I picked up Fable II for free at the price its going for.

I'll probably end up using it. I'm a whore for limited edition content.

Anyone notice whether the Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise has the customary foil with the folds at the top & bottom?? Mine had a different type of wrapping with no folds, but it has a special Target sticker on it (advertising some bonus content), so I was guessing they were all like this (have only seen 1 copy of this title at Target, so have no basis for comparison)

Same way at my Targets... with no folds... just like 90% of the Blue Dragon copies.

Mercenaries 2 (360) $14.98 (I think)

Also saw Haze but cannot remember the price.

Lego Batman 360- $24.98

The first singstar game for PS3 with microphones- $24.98

No other drops. Soul Calibur, Tom Raider, Unreal, all stayed the same.

My local TRU has no clearance games other than Spiderman 3 for PS2. Or so it seems. Sad but true.

I'm hoping to go back to Target tomorrow to see if they marked down anything. Hopefully I can score Mercs 2 at $14 and Viva Pinata. :)

This may have already been answered, or maybe it's common sense, but I have a question.

When a game is already on clearance and a drop should be happening soon--meaning it's been reported here at various location--does the clearance price go into the system automatically or when a person scans a game?

What I mean is, there are games that I've checked on early on Monday morning. Does the system, at some time, update the price, or does the price change once the employee scans it, show that it is in the store, then goes down?
 
I saw Mercs 2 for 14.98 today as well, does anyone think it will drop lower? I ask because my Target seems to have a ton in stock and I wasn't blown away by the gameplay when I played it last year. 14.98 is a good price but lower would be even better ...

Since it's a $29.99 list game it should hit 75% off which would be $7.48...so if you want to take your chances and wait it probably has a good chance of hitting that price point if any are left in stock.
 
Got Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise (360) for $14.98. Much of what was at the two stores I visited was covered here already, with nothing unique.

Also got Trivial Pursuit Digital Choice for $12.48. I've been keeping an eye on TPDC since Christmastime, hoping it would hit 75% off. Both of the local Targets had an ample supply of the game a week and a half ago for $24.98. One store had none now (!!!), while the other had at least 20 copies at the new price.

Employees have to manually update the clearance prices. The games do not have to be physically scanned, though, most employees will just scan UPCs off of a sheet. Every Target will selectively drop prices on games and this is the reason why you see so much discrepancy between prices from different posters.
 
Merc 2 is still $20.xx here at two stores I visit.

Web Of Shadows is at $34.xx, but I need to buy it at a lower price cause it's not worth $34
 
Man I really wish my target had PS3 Tiger Woods 09 for $14.98. The shelves are cleaned out. Ive got 2 quick questions....

1) before they go on clearance does target pull the games off the shelf?
2) When is clearance pricing updated? How often do you guys check?
