This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Which one were you at? Was there anything good left? Everything was still at $30 when I checked them all a couple weeks ago.

I was able to pick up SH: H for 14.95 at the Lawndale store on Tuesday, and I saw that they had Unreal (360) for 9.95, as well as Bolt PS3 for 14.95. They also had Rock Revolution and Disney Sing It!, but I didn't check the prices.

Picked up Fracture for $9.98 the other night. I've passed on it several times but decided to get it.

I've played the demo previously and didn't really care for it. I haven't played the actual game yet, but I wanted to know does anyone actually like the game who didn't care for the demo?

I know the metacritic score is pretty low (63) and my backlog is rather large but I'm trying to convince myself to keep it...lol

Any advice?

I just finished it yesterday (took about 2 days), the singleplayer is fairly short, and the story/characters aren't very developed. The guns are fun to use, but there are only like 7 enemies in the entire game, and a couple of them are rehashes of each other. I haven't tried playing the multiplayer (haven't found anyone hosting) but I'd bet it'd be fun. The terrain deformation seemed pretty gimmicky to me after the first 30 mins, but the graphics and framerate are pretty good. IMO it's worth $10 but no more than that.. and lol at least I could bear it more than I could with Too Human..

I picked up tomb raider underworld and the bourne conspiracy for 14.98 at the Target in Chester VA.This Target had about four more copies of underworld.
 
Anyone know if Far Cry 2 on the 360 been put on clearance? I know I seen some people mention the PS3 version, but not the 360 version.
My Target still has it ringing up at $39.99.

Nope it is still regular price only the PS3 version is on clearance.
 
2 Targets on Capital in Raleigh both have nothing. Its so damn depressing. The one behind the mall, literally just has 3rd party controllers and a wall of film..

I tend to agree. Last time I posted an actual location of 20+ Tiger Woods 09 PS3 @ $14.98, I went home to find out they are selling for $30+ on ebay. I went back and how many do you think were left?

You know it......ZERO.

Possibly just an argument to be better informed tho'.

My opinion as well. It lets other people know which specific titles are on clearance and at what prices so they can check for those specific titles at their local Targets (and do their own legwork).

But to be fair, with ~50 Targets in the Metro, it doesn't do me a lot of good.


I'm of the mind that giving specific Targets is a bad idea as well.
 
Hey, anything else good at the Mt Prospect Store? I live in Glen Ellyn, and have been having a TERRIBLE time trying to find some of the clearance deals in ILL.....
 
I give my location and post in the regional thread because I will help local CAGs get some deals. I have responded to several requests to pick up something or other. I just don't want to give the heads up to those looking to buy up all the stock and resell.

I don't think the point of the posts was that we wanted to hoard all the games, but not to alert those that do.

Another part of not mentioning specific locations is to game the clearance, and try to get things at a deeper discount level.

For example, I'd like to pick up :ps3: Soul Calibur 4 for $12.50/75% off. I don't want it at $25, as I already have the :360: SC4. If I was to say 'City, State Target had ## of :ps3: SC4 @ $25', I'd be hurting my chances of getting a copy @ $12.50.

I like how you make an assumption that it's people on this forum that are hoarding. You do realize the inter-web is not just filled with gamers that visit CAG, correctly? You know what happens when you assume.

Just had to add one more to this topic that I am sure has raged on long before I even heard of CAG. I don't think it is hoarding or wrong to pick up a couple of extra copies out of 20+ games to resell to help feed the beast that afflicts us all.

Also, I agree that I should probably spend more to upgrade my mobile web service instead of on all these games:lol:.

I get your point. You are not condemning anyone just posting a warning for anyone guilty. I have no problem giving locations to stuff that I am not interested in. However, when I find people in my area through the forum I just start doing private messages.

Today I got:
Viva Pinata Pocket something for 4.98
Final Fantasy IV for 9.98
On an impulse Farcry 2 for 14.98. Is this game any good worth keeping?

Actually, alot of times i go to places and report what i see. There are times that i pick up stuff than post but a majority of the time i just like to spread the info around and help out fellow CAGS without picking up a single thing. Seriously dude, you have to relax.

Also, every time i post, i always give my location and where i found the game. I don't see the need to hid secret stores.
 
Has anyone in the suburbs of Chicago had any luck finding FFIV on clearance? I just hit up three Targets in my area and they were a barren wasteland. Seems like a waste of time to even check out Target for clearance items in my area nowadays.
 
Lurkers are a bigger problem than hoarders and I think that's what some of the earlier posts were trying to hint at.

If you go to the main forum page and look at how many guests are on the forum, you'll be shocked to see that half the people browsing this site right now are not members. They're lurkers. Then you have to assume that another third of the members on right now are just non-posting lurkers who signed up to get rid of the x # of pages limit. There's a whole lot of people we'll never hear from that are just browsing these threads waiting to pounce on deals to hoard them.

At least a "Cheap Ass Hoarder" has a "face" so you can try to cut a deal with them, a lurker is faceless so you're left without the slightest chance of getting a game.
 
Really didn't mean to start an uproar by my comment. Maybe its just naive but the idea that people were getting burned by entering their location hadn't crossed my mind. Even still, I still believe that this thread would be incomplete if its only people posting the prices.
 
Some very interesting remarks here. For what it's worth, I enjoy sharing intelligence on locations-- while I'm sure I've tipped off some hoarders/eBay farmers, I do know for a fact that I've gotten a couple of local CAGs hooked up with good deals, and that the karma has come back to me (a CAG got me Dynasty Warriors Gundam for $5).

At the same time, I don't have a problem being selective with what information I share. Let's say there's a sought after title at the local Target and I'm waiting for a drop, along with a bunch of other games. I might still mention the other games, but I won't mention anything about my big fat target (no pun intended).

Finally, it's a free market. If someone can act on information here and get the goods before me, bully for them. As it is, I have a waist-high stack of games in the backlog, so I'm not going to cry too hard if I miss out on one here and there.

I hit these 3 twice a week(Schaumburg,Carol Stream and Glendale Heights) and for the last 6+ months there are never any of the decent marked down games on Mondays. They seem to just poof after midnight on Sunday or something. I went to one on a Sunday looking for the GTA4 CE for the $20 markdown on Monday and they had 5 in the case, Monday on my way to work at 8am they were all gone. I have given up on Target these days.
 
I scooped up the last two Unreal 3(360) for $10 . If someone wants one pm me .
Also thank you to whoever picked up that last facebreaker !!!! The heads up that it was bootsy saved me from wasting money .

Still plenty of my fun facts coach left . Has anyone played it ???

It always has and it always will. Part of the problem is that I don't think this thread is monitored by a Mod all that much. Next week someone will post about hiding games and it will start all over again. Just wait and see.

BTW, I rarely post the location of the Targets I check because of Lurkers. I'm in the Socal area and I have a lot of competition. I have no problem giving out help to CAGs who actually post and try to contibute but that doesn't extend to lurkers.

I think it helps when people post their finds since it alerts others that prices are dropping. If all you're looking for is information, just check the OP. FoS does a good job of keeping it up to date. All the information that you're looking for is there.
 
See, that posting is useful and isn't usually in the OP. However, unlike the Sears and Kmart thread, there is way too much off topic discussion about what people do and don't do while looking/buying clearance games.

I guess I'll just live with it since it's a fucking cycle anyway.

Yeah. like its easy to post info on recent red tags in the SoCal area. This thread is like a month ahead on drops compared to the Fullerton and Irvine stores. When i find something new its usually been discussed for a couple weeks thus defeating the purpose of posting.

If there is any copies left at all you will only get the option of an exchange for another copy of the same game. (which should be opened before being given to you if they follow policy)

I'm not sure what they would do if its the last copy. Depending on the store you might get nothing, get your money back, or get a gift card. I would think a gift card would be the most likely scenario.

In any event I would be extremely sweet, look presentable and extremely innocent and maybe even naive when trying.
