This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

That's awesome! I checked the Rock Band SE for PS3 last week and it was ringing up $90. Better head to Target now to see if it dropped :)

Don't think you'll have any luck at any Targets anymore. The GI Joe box sets and Optimus Primes got clearanced back in January and all sold out/got donated to Goodwill.

I took stock on Afro Samurai for PS3 yesterday and there were 2.
Today they're gone. X-Blades was there for 360.
Two games I haven't seen mentioned are some MLB Manager game for 360 (207 22 0320) and Web of Shadows for PSP (207 20 0339)

Don't think it's the LPS DS games on clearance. They were on the shelf w/ a tag stating they were $25 each this week as shown in the weekly ad.

Might pick up X-Blades if it reaches $15. Also saw that the Sony 40" and 46" were on clearance. 40" 1080p was $900, down from $1,000. The 46" 1080p was $1150 down from $1300.

I tried the demo at the New York comic con back in February. It is seriously one of the worst games I've ever played, and this is coming from a guy that was originally looking forward to it.

I'm sorry to still be so confused by target clearance and I've been following this thread for a while and I even searched it and sorry to be a complete idiot but in terms of time how long does it take for a game at 41.xx to get to sub 14.xx? I know its specific by store but Is there a general rule of thumb? If this is covered somewhere else and I'm just missing it, could you just please point me in the right direction?

it can vary. I work at the Commerce, MI target in electronics, and i've seen games drop from 100% price to 50% one week, then to 25% the next week. I've also seen games sit at 30% off for a month. It all depends on the game. If it was a good game, you're waiting a while
 
Tomb Raider Underworld isn't that bad. Certainly worth $15. It has its problems (camera, clipping/crashing) but the puzzles are nice. It is pretty short though.

yeah but the more popular games just go discontinued (meaning no more shipments for those who don't know) for a looonng time, and by the time they hit clearance (my store anyway) is usually sold out of them

Don't worry about HydroX ... people buy stuff and resell all the time on CAG. Especially with clearance threads, where everything is fair game for the first people who show up. I'm always amazed by the folks who don't seem to know the difference between people who might buy and resell and hoarders who will buy ALL the copies to resell. Heck, if you wanna buy and flip it, more power to you ... I think the CAG way is to be intelligent and respectful of deals but not to try and stop other folks from getting in on the deal by hoarding clearance or sale items. But what do I know, I mean HydroX has been on here since way back in January of 2009 ... ;-)
 
This is a bit of a sidenote.

I understand things happen, but I really wish people who request people to pick them up some of these games on clearance would not BACK OUT when they are finally available! I know they can be returned at any time, but take into consideration the time and gas that goes into some of this hunting...

Complete YMMV. I saw the Madden 2009 CE for PS3 go to 50% off 13 days after release, but I have also seen games get stuck at a clearance level for 5 weeks or more.

Also, if you really do mean "sub" $14.XX....good fucking luck dude. VERY few games ever drop below the 75% off point. Case in point; my closest Target has had 12 copies of Brothers in Arms:HH at $14.XX for over 6 weeks now. If you see a game you want hit the 75% level, it is time to bite.

P.S. For the OP, Bourne Conspiracy for 360 hit $14.XX weeks ago, still listed as $29.XX in the OP.
 
^The only thing I'd mention is games can hit sub $14.98 if the 75% off is taken from something lower than $59.99. So keep that in mind also when you're waiting for drops. Recent examples include Too Human & Mercs 2, iirc.
 
So the Oceanside, CA Target has either: A) No clearance section for games. B) The clearance section sucks and is made up of games at universal price. or C) The clearance section is hidden in the woman's clothing section of the store. I'm going with C ;)

I think I'll make a trip over to the Vista Target tomorrow and see if there's anything there.

Yeah, I checked there. No clearance games there at all. So I'm guessing they moved it to between the racks of womens pants.

They hide the games if they hear you coming. You've got to run and open all the closed dressing room doors as fast as you can to get the clearance games.

If it is anything like the Targets I have been to, the only games outside the glass case are either the lower priced ones (like Greatest Hits, etc.) or clearance. Most of the clearance sections I've seen are not nearly as obvious as they should be. Sometimes they are several aisles down from the video game department and are usually found on the end caps of the aisles toward the back. Also, I've seen games buried underneath other clearance items like iPod accessories, backpacks, and even clothing. But from what I've seen, if the video game clearance section isn't readily visible, it probably doesn't have anything good in it.
