This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

If you play Rock Band at all, keep in mind that sometime this summer there should be an update/patch to RB that allows you to use the wireless LIPS mics.

Picked up Mirror's Edge 360 for $9.98. I almost missed out because I was looking for a green case amongst a whole stack of PS2 games. Since the games were in plastic security cases, I almost didn't see ME. The top of those security cases were red so I didn't notice the green case the first time I checked.

Turok is still $14.98 at this Target but the disc is now loose so I'll pass even at $7.48. It's good to see a new round of drops since I already picked up everything I was looking for in this last round. Now to wait until they hit 75% off.

All PC games in the 3 stores in NJ I go to are all on the same endcap that the console games are on. It's best to check the book isles as well, as 2 of my stores have random game clearances there too.

I got a Target Kids catalog with a bunch of coupons attached to the back of it. Among those coupons was a $5.00 off any Wii video game $49.99 and under. It expires 6/14/09. This could lead to a cheap Wii game on clearance. And I wonder if scanned and printed coupons could be used...I don't have a scanner myself. I remember the Xbox 360 coupon from last year, which I used a few times.

I suppose you just want us to give Kidu and the hoarders on FW, SD and even here on CAG a fully itemized list of locations and prices so they can clean out every in' store in the country, huh?

That's why you'll rarely see me mention my location and even if I do it's usually only AFTER I've checked my local stores and found nothing I wanted. After I'm done cherry picking what I want, the hoarders can go hog wild for all I care.

Before then though, be prepared to see alot of 'my local Target' or 'my closest Target' with no real location mentioned.

On topic: I checked my local Target the other night and the other copy of Afro Samurai that was still supposedly there that another CAG told me about was long gone, not that it matters anyway since Sony still has my PS3 in for repairs.

Only problem is, for a while my 'territory' included many sections in NY and NJ as well as Pennsylvania(home state), since I was out of town frequently for work.

But lately, we've been sticking to one or two spots in NY and I've been stuck keeping the dealers company at the auctions and not given free reign to disappear for an hour or two.

Of course, gas prices rising again don't friggin' help.

OK, so I stopped by this location again today. I had my updated barcode sheet with me so I scanned Sonic Unleashed. They had 2 copies in the case stickered at $34.98. They scanned at $12.xx! Woohoo! Glad I checked. I grabbed them both. So.... CML or my posts in the trade threads.

Why do some of you carry barcode sheets to the store? All you need is the DCPI number which is at the top of the clearance sticker.

Some Targets still do not have the number pad on the side of the self-scanners. My guess would be mostly older Targets. All the Targets in my area have the number pads but if my "want" list is long, I will print out the barcodes on a piece of paper. I find that it's easier to do it that way than looking at your cell over and over to punch in 7 different DPCIs. If i'm checking 2 or 3 games, I'll eventually memorize the numbers.

I think someone on here once mentioned scanning the barcodes from a pic on a cellphone. I have yet to try it but that would make it easier to check prices. I'm sure doing that would draw looks from Target employees, though.

Because we still have it with us after using it at K-mart, Sears and Toys R Us.

Yeah my Target is one of those "low tech" stores that just has the scanners but no keypads on them. If I want to check prices I have to bring my barcode sheet with me. Honestly even if my store had the keypad I would rather just bring my sheet with me. It might look funny to the staff but it's much easier to scan and like shoe mentioned you can use it at all of the other stores.

You pretty much answered your own question: New Jersey.

Most likely because of thefts. Even in po dunk valley PA they have started storing some of them in the glass cases unless they simply do not have the room... all due to theft.
