This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Went to my Target while I was in the area. Didn't see anything worthwhile. Was mostly in there to check on Fear 2. Checked the clearance endcap even though I didn't expect it to be there, and the cap was picked clean since last time I was in there picking up L4D. Saw Fear 2 (in some kind of cover slip?) in the case with the other games and asked an employee to see if it was on clearance. Without taking it out, he told me that it wasn't on clearance there and I think he knew it was on clearance in other areas. I wonder why mine didn't clearance it...

Your store probably did put it on clearance but you won't know until you check the system by HAVING them scan it or you scanning it. Don't rely on the employee's knowledge, half the time they don't know, the other half they don't care.

You are right, it is a great deal at that price! I want the headset for call of duty. Hubby can have the end war game lol! I am going to go the targets again on Monday to check the prices again. I will let you know if the end war went down in price than! :)

I have an itch to go to the Lancaster Target but I don't know if I want to drive that far, knowing my luck they wont have anything.
 
Hi all,

I just moved to Florida from Ohio and purchased my first home. I'm wanting to keep my gaming habit up, but keep costs down. So, obviously I would love to find some of these great deals. I went to the nearest Target to me and had no luck. The best deal I could find was F.E.A.R. 2 for $25 and the rest were $37 and up, with most of them being around $45. When I was still living in Ohio Target was pretty far from me, but whenever I did check I was able to find a few titles that had good prices, but none of interest.

So when I got back I looked over this post again, went through all the games and got the ASIN number for all the games I was interested in. All of them showed up as either Not Available or Out of Stock at the Target's in my area. The two I really wanted come back with a message saying the system is down.

I'm going to try going to another Target that is a little further away to see if they have any games clearanced, but I was just curious if anyone here is from the Central Florida area, if so if you have found any Targets with good deals and if so which ones.

I've loved to get some great deals, but it just looks like the Target near me is not going to offer good prices like these.

Thanks! I found the board through another site a few days ago and have been looking around since, but just got to signing up to post.

Thanks, I completely understand. I am going to keep looking around and hope I may be able to find something better. The Target that is near me is in a pretty high end area, so that may have something to do with it. I have another one that isn't too far but is away from the nicer areas and I'm hoping I might get lucky!
 
I saw Endwar tonight for about $22. I am going to buy GH:WT for the $14.xx price I saw it tonight, and then return it with my $29.xx receipt and use the savings to get a copy of Endwar - maybe two. It's so flippin' worth it for the headsets alone.

Dang, no wonder Paper Mill has been all bought up recently, more CAGs from the area joining. I hope you're not hoarders and we can make this a friendly relationship haha. Please try to wait for the clearance games to drop to %75...its best for all of us that way. Plus the Endwar bundle was only $40 at the Best Buy there a few weeks ago and may still be. Where in Target do they have the Endwar bundles hiding?? It seems every time I go there they have rearranged the whole electronic section. I only know where one clearance endcap is right now but they used to have two.


Oh and I was at the Lancaster Target today and they have nothing whatsoever. Only 2 copies of BoTS for $41 and some Wii games. Papermill has always been better so I rarely check Lancaster.

Hit four Knoxville, TN Targets and didn't find Left 4 Dead, which I was driving around like an idiot looking for. If anybody has an extra to sell, PM me!

Turkey Creek had plenty of copies of Riddick (360), but they were ~$30. Really nothing amazing at any of them.
 
Checked again at the Crossroads Target in Irvine. Still the same crap except the addition of.. drum roll please.. some Guitar Hero game for PS3 at $29.xx.

Nope not a hoarder lol! It's actually nice to have local people here to give heads up to each other!! I think Target in Paper Mill is finally done rearranging! The clearance games are in the back of the store now. The end isles near the tvs. At one time the clearance electronics was near the baby section!!

Thank you for letting me know about Lancaster. Last time I went in that direction, I got a speeding ticket in Epharta lol!

lol, not a hoarder here either...only grabbed one.

however, i am from the pottsville area, so i only get down into reading/wyomissing once a week (if that often). that's why when i saw endwar at $45, i grabbed it. sure it might drop to $22 or whatever next week, but there's a good chance i wouldn't be back in time to get it at that price...that's why i figured i can give return/rebuy a shot. i'm not going to open it til then.

i dunno about lancaster, but you might wanna try a trip to harrisburg - there are three targets over that way. i got nba live at one of them for $10 a few weeks back.

every once in a while i'll make a trip and check out those three...lucky for me it's about the same distance to those as it is to paper mill and 5th street - although once the one in exeter opens up though it'll make my decisions a little tougher, lol. i might still make a trip to harrisburg every now and then due to having to pass by the casino... :)

BTW: endwar is actually a pretty fun game - i played the demo for 360. i'm sure there are some subtle differences in the ps3 version, but i'd say it's definitely worthwhile to pick up at $45 with the headset included...

agreed! don't rely on the employees especially since there is a possibility they are holding the game out for themselves when they get off work. Always have them scan it.

Picked up Endwar for 22 yesterday and had to stop myself from buying two, I don't need anymore headsets but always nice to have a spare unique one

Thanks for the tip about Harrisburg! May have to check those stores out!! Its going to be nice to have that Exeter store there for me. With that one, papermill and the 5th st one, they are all within 10 min of me!! :D Plus when I go to Exter, I can go to Sonic to eat woohoo!

to my No. VA people I'm heading to the Dumfries (234) and Woodbridge (PWPKWY) Targets today to see if they have anything.

I doubt it, though since both are kinda higher end Targets that get quite a bit of business. (well the Woodbridge one im sure does) I've never been in the Dumfries one)

I'm hoping they have the PS3 game deals. pref GH3 been looking to get into the GH/RB series for awhile.

I was at Fair Lakes Target, they did have the PS3 GH:WT on clearance. They have about 3 of them, i think it was around $19-20 dollars.
 
Fair lakes target where is that at? (or is that the name of the Target in Dumfries?) and was it just the game or the guitar also, i'll go pick that up.



Edit: Just googled, Yea i had no plan to drive that far today, unless it comes with a guitar thats the onlyway im willing to drive there

It was at 14.98 in FairLakes and in Reston. Both locations had them. Actually, I see that game more often than not.
 
I have been to a ton of Chicagoland Targets and have never seen FEAR 2 below $24.98...It makes me sad when I hear about everyone picking it up for $12.48. ...way too many Wii shovelware titles cluttering the clearance isles right now.
 
I went back to the Target that had 11 copies of 50 Cent: BotS ($14.98) on Monday and to my surprise, they still had 8 copies left. I picked up 2 copies for some CAGs and left 6 behind. I also picked up an Endwar bundle PS3 for someone and was tempted to get one for myself but I passed. They still have a whole bunch left in the glass case.

What time do you usually go to paper mill on mondays? I'm just wondering when exactly they do the mark downs. Is it before they open on Mondays or sometime throughout the day? Hopefully I can make the trip Monday, but if not I might ask you to pick up an Endwar bundle for me if it drops to $22.

Yeah, I'll be honest, I hid a game behind some diapers once...haha

Meh. Yesterday, Target knew how to make me feel weird trying to ask this. There were four guys all huddled up at the register at electronics doing not work. One guy told me it wasn't on clearance, and I didn't feel like all four of them looking at me weird if I contradicted him. Maybe I'll start bringing my own sheet and find a self-scanner from now on.
 
I asked for the non-GOTY Left4Dead behind the GOTY editions. However it rang up as out of system and the cashier punched in the price of the GOTY edition. Thanks but no Thanks.

I've had luck going around 11-12 at both targets. But when I bought the scene it game, the 5th st. one had theirs marked down a week before papermill. So I will definately be going to both on Monday. I really want that headset!! I shall keep ya posted! :) Oh and the Exeter Target opens July 26. I wonder how long it takes for a new store to start a clearance section lol!

The thing about a lot of retail employees these days is that they feel like they're better than the job, so therefore they're better than the customers too.

Just ask him to do it anyway. It's his job as an employee; it's your right as a customer. Our society seems to spend so much time trying to avoid anything that even resembles confrontation. It's not like they're even going to remember you the next day, and if they do, who cares what they think about you, especially for a matter as trivial as this?

If that's the grand opening, it should be open a week or two before then. Typically stores do that to "warm up" before the crowds come. I could be wrong, but worth checking out. And as far as clearance sections, I've found clearance stuff during opening week before!

thanks! definitely let me know if the endwar bundle drops to 22 on monday...there were quite a few left at both stores, so if it goes down maybe i'll make a trip down and just grab another one and return the one i bought at 45 since i haven't opened it yet. i almost picked up fear 2 for the 360, but it was still 25 and i took the chance it'll drop (i think only paper mill had any left, i dont think 5th street had any). let me know if you see that one...

i'd also like to grab nhl 09 for the 360, but not til it gets to at least 75% off (considering the new one will be out soon)...
 
Man... this is some boloney. I went to my local Target yesterday where I've been eyeing a stack of "Guitar Hero III" for the 360 to drop a little lower (they've been 7.48).

At the normal Clearance section they were all gone depsite the fact that I was there the day before.

I found them ALL in the kids section, inside a cart, still marked 7.48. I took it to the Electronics and the guy scanned it and it said "ITEM NOT FOUND". I explained that I would buy them if they were cheaper, and he said that I could buy one at 7.48 otherwise they would be "salvaged" and thrown away.

Why would they do that? Why not sell them for a few dollars just to make the money?

Well, if everyone was like that, then no one would buy full price items and wait for price drops until items were "a few dollars." Target tries to capture various price points with 30, 50, 75% off, and they eventually have to stop somewhere. There have been huge discussions before on various store tactics, and Im sure no one wants to read a huge block of text, but the general gist is that this is how our economy works, you cant start giving away items just because they're not selling, its just how things work.
 
@RMThompson: I don't think I've seen a 360 title drop at any of my Targets past $7.48. Depending on the store they aren't just thrown away one of the ones I frequent donates them to Goodwill.

I picked up Fear 2 and House of the Dead Overkill at the Target in Fultondale, AL. Both were $24.98 but they only charged me for Fear 2. The cashier said they were on sale. It might have been a mistake but im not complaining

I found a game in the clearance section that was probably mislabeled (the 4 and 1 being reversed), but since it rang up in the system as 0.00 and asked for a price, the cashier simply went with the price tag.

My regular Target didn't have any Fear 2 left at $24.xx. I'll check the one a little further away that is a bigger store and usually has more games for the $12.xx drop.
 
Found a unpriced Loco Roco 2 for the PSP today. It rang up OoS so the cashier looked it up at 4.98. Ah, the magical "came out of nowhere"

Old roommate used to work for Target. He told me to always find someone on the floor with a scanner to lookup the last known price before item rings up 0.00. That will give them the correct price just in case the clearance price is wrong. They will do it just be persistent.:)
