This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

I went to two Targets near my place, one had no copies of Motorstorm and the other had two stickered for $30. Took one to the nearest scanner, and no dice. Still in the system for $30 here :( If anyone can pick up an extra copy for me, I have paypal.

I have an extra sealed Motorstorm that I picked up and I will gladly trade someone for an extra copy of FEAR 2 for PS3 if they can find it cheap. All my FEAR copies around here are $25.

I found a copy of SOCOM: Confrontation (or whatever it is) for PS3 with headset for $41.98 on clearance at my Target today. Didn't pick it up, as I would prefer around $20. Hoping it drops, as I want the headset.

Also saw a Vizio 32" LCD HDTV on clearance for $375. Dunno if other Targets will do that or not.

I work at Target and today we clearanced the PS3 version of Endwar bundled with the official Sony bluetooth headset for only $22.48. I picked up the last copy myself. The headset alone is worth that price!

The Target located in Pembroke Pines (by the Pines Mall) has xbox 360 copies of NCAA Fooball 09 20.48, they also had Bionic Commando for PS3 41.98, and copies of Wanted (360 and PS3) 34.98,

I also picked up a 2.74 C3PO Might Mugg.

After he left, you should have bought it, then returned it to another store. :D

I say this photo is STAGED... why? How stupid can you be to "TRY" to stash something THAT BIG behind the shelf like that?

I saw something in the clearance bin I've never seen at a target before. There was about 200 copies of NCAA 09 on the endcap, taking up two full shelves. I was stunned. Still at 20.98 I think too. Someone grossly overestimated the demand for that game at this store.

wow thats pretty crappy.. hard to find good stuff at targets around here

Towson, MD

Endwar bundle rang up out of system today, couldn't find anyone (with or without price gun), so I don't know if it made the magical drop to $11.24. I doubt it did though

My Target never has the 'bottom tier' prices that people post here... everything always gets scooped up before then. Yesterday, found a Endwar for PS3 for $22.48 though. I was in on the beta and wasn't hugely impressed by it - but $23 for a good quality (I'm hoping) BT headset, I'm just considering the game itself as a bonus.

I snagged one thinking the exact same thing. It seems to be a pretty decent headset so far. I've used it while playing Ghostbusters on-line. I still like my Motorola one I found about a year ago on clearance better. Flipping the boom mic on the Motorola turns it on and off. Much easier than holding down the power button.

Picked up 50 Cent : Blood on the Sand for 7.54 (Don't know how it happened, they didnt have any copies last week, went in today and boom it was down to 7 dollars). Also saw Iron Man for 360 at 13.98 at the Towson MD Target.

Honestly, there just are stupid people out there. To me, it looks like he's trying to get it behind the ds cases, which Im sure wont work since the plastic dividers are there. Or maybe behind the hanging items? Either way, trust me, there are people out there who will attempt these things.

how is that even possible?? is he trying to hide it behind the displays? crazy.
I say this photo is STAGED... why? How stupid can you be to "TRY" to stash something THAT BIG behind the shelf like that?
It's a joke.
Honestly, there just are stupid people out there. To me, it looks like he's trying to get it behind the ds cases, which Im sure wont work since the plastic dividers are there. Or maybe behind the hanging items? Either way, trust me, there are people out there who will attempt these things.
I think it was supposed to be a joke because of all the talk about stashing games here lol.

Okay, so this may be a silly question, but... Does Target have a method to their madness? There are a handful of games they have, that I want, but are only reduced like $5 right now (Oddly enough they are in the clearance section, but Wii Cheer for $4.98 is still with all the regular games :whistle2:s )

I'm not planning to buy them at the current prices, especially since I'm sure Amazon has most of them for less. But my question, how soon would they be likely to do another price drop and how soon should I expect to see them at a really good price? Not sure if they have a schedule generally on clearance items, or if it is more or less when they decide to drop prices.

Thanks!

The OP says Monday, however, as many of us have found out, YMMV. Your local Target might be 2 weeks behind other Targets, or maybe a game will just hold while others drop. So just go to your own Target and see what they have

Target usually updates video game clearance items during the day Monday, but the titles and percents vary by store. Sometimes a couple of weeks will happen before a price drop, and sometimes it will skip a step down or two. Usually the maximum discount is 75%, but sometimes they do go to 85%. (You can see the discount on the orange price sticker, in the upper right corner.)

Some people will hide games somewhere in the store and wait for price drops, I don't do that however. If it is a game that I really want but think the price will go lower I will do a buy and then rebuy if the price drops again, I return the higher priced item. (You do have to have the discipline to keep the receipts and not to open the games, I have never returned a new copy using the older receipt.)

You can also check multiple Target stores, as even stores in the same area will vary somewhat as to inventory and discount.

Final Fantasy: Echoes of Time, Nintendo DS, $19.98
Final Fantasy: Echoes of Time, Wii, $27.98
Bionic Commando, PS3, $40.98
Madworld, Wii, 20.98
(some of these are approximate, couldn't remember exact prices. Lots more, like Monsters vs Aliens for PS3.)
Orlando, FL at Waterford Lakes

Didn't Target used to do their markdowns using their overnight team?

Thanks for the replies guys. I realize I didn't state my question too clearly. Most of these games just dropped in price, like the last week or so, so I'm just wondering if Target has a method for how long they keep them at that price until they lower them again. For example, once a game is dropped in price, maybe they drop it again in four weeks if some are still left?

Unfortunately I can't get to Target as often as I would like so it is hard to tell what day they actually mark them down. I'm thinking it is Monday, but can't be sure until I watch a little closer, I do believe the Sears by me marks down on Monday because I found quite a few deals there last Monday. Really makes me wish I could just take Monday off and drive to every store within an hour that has video game clearance :D

I dediced to pick up three games from one of my local Target stores, since I doubt they'll stick around till they drop much lower.

Picked up:

Dead Space:ps3:-$20.98
Fear 2:ps3:-$24.98
Riddick:ps3:-$27.98

Total was $78 and change.

I'll hold onto them for a week or two and hopefully they'll drop in price a bit more so I can return/rebuy and get them for 75% off. Paying $20+ for a game just plain sucks, but like I said, EVERY clearance game disappears before reaching the elusive 75% off here. fuckin' normal, stupid consumers think these prices are a 'steal'.:whistle2:#
Today, spotted:

Riddick PS3 $20
FF Echoes in Time DS $10
I've been waiting for FF:CC to drop from $25ish here... hope it goes down to $10 Monday.
FF Echoes in Time DS $10
^Hopefully, this is the week that FFCC: EoT drops to $9.98 in my area.

I'm not sure if this has happened at Target before but I found:

Arctic Tale :wii: - $20.98 207-26-0125
Sea Monsters :wii: - $20.98 207-26-0124

Both of these games were clearanced in the summer(?) of last year (both titles were decent flipping material to BBV). I guess they bought more copies to fill out their "Value Games" section (just like they did recently with GoW, Lego Indy, BF:BC, etc...). Now they're both being clearanced for a second time.

only know of one target with socom bundle 41.98 and it'll probably be gone before i can check for a drop.

what's the cheapest for it now?

I've only seen the price you mentioned here in Orange County.

I think the lowest reported price has been $41.98. Like you, I've only found one Target (out of 8) that has the Socom bundle in stock. They only have 2 copies.

your target people are ok with return/rebuy clearance stuff? i remember reading that some aren't. if they never drop below 50%, do you keep them? and have you or anyone held them for that full 90 days? lol.

I doubt most Target employee's will allow you to return/rebuy at the same time on clearance items. Usually you have to return the item, and if that is the only one, wait the next day for them to restock the item on the shelf and hope you get to it first.

With your attitude, I say it's karma.

I often buy at what I know is not going to be the lowest just to make sure that I atleast nab a copy at some discounted price. I then sit on the game for a month and if it doesn't drop or the last copies disappear I have it. If it does drop I just return the more expensive one. Do it all the time. And yes, I would return it on the 90th day if I chose. That's their policy.

It also helps being 50 years old. Managers usually don't quibble with a 'mature' person.

Actually saw some decent stuff for once (Sun Prairie, WI)

Socom w/ mic $30
Motorstorm 7.50
Motorstorm pacific rift 15
Resistance 7.50
Battlestations Pacific 15
Madworld 20

oh ya, Fear 2 PS3 for 12.50
