This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

You on the other had Scorch, put your words in a very polite way, but the other person which he knows who that im talking to him, wasnt supposed to talk like that. Really, i am not a person that looks to argue or stary an argument, but i dont take $hit from no one, especially if i havent said anything negative or offended any one, Ive been here long enough to know whats whats and the whos the whos and the wheres wheres. Its time likes this I wish that person was infront of my face so I could see him talk to me like that in front of me and so I could knock him the hell out with slap from hell, because some people think just because they on the internet they can talk any way you want.

my targets rarely drop anything a week after a drop... it is usually about 3 weeks between drops in my area
 
v-g as previous people have stated its ymmv. My local target had 30 copies of soccom a month ago when I got mine, and the price was at 2998, when people stated the following week that it was 1498 I went to check. When I got there was still like 25 copies left so I waited two weeks, and it was down to about 7 copies and it was still at 2998. This past week they finally got soccom off the shelf. another one of targets near me still had dead space in shelfs behind the wall for 5999. So yeah Ill stop there.

Its just simple math. 50% off a game that was originally $29.99 = $14.98. 75% off a game that was originally $59.99 = $14.98. So stop telling people that ALL games that are clearanced at $14.98 will drop again because they that will not always be the case. So yes, you are misinformed.

I just went to a different Target yesterday, and they had Tomb Raider Anniversary for $19.99. The one I got for $4.98 was at a different Target, and they only had one, so maybe it was an old leftover clearance item or something...
 
I think this got off track by VG asserting his Target's clearance policy as gospel for ALL Target's. No one is not thanking VG for sharing, as there are likely CAGs/Lurkers who hit this very Target and greatly appreciate this knowledge.

However, this is not the policy for any Target I frequent.

Everyone's already set you straight on the pricing thing, so I won't bother, but beyond that, even if that were going to happen (it's not), why do you assume that it's beneficial for me to wait for it? I already said that there were only two copies, and that there was someone else buying one of them while I was there. If I'd waited even for another possible drop this Monday, the one that was left could well have been gone. Beyond that, the store that I was at is far enough off of my normal path that the gas and time to go back there later would have cost more than the potential $7.50 I might have saved (I was only there in the first place because I happened to be up in that area anyway and needed something else from Target). The game disappeared from the stores closer to me before it even hit the $14.98 price point. So even if it might have dropped again (it wouldn't have), I don't care.

Really, I don't know where you get off complaining about people being condescending to you when you're the one who started off with the condescending attitude. "lol"
 
Just got back from Target and was able to pick the copy back up that I bought of Monsters vs. Aliens and returned on Friday, very, very shocked it was still there, but also happy :D

My Target changed the sign in front of all the games to 70% off or more now and since they marked all the games down they are going fast, still a handful of older PS2 games and some games still at $14.98 that aren't selling, but other than that, I would say there are only about 20 games total left on the endcap.

I am hoping one of my fellow CAG's knows the answer to this question. If there are price changes, are they done before the store opens up or during the day while they are already open? I understand like everything else Target clearance it is probably ymmv too. And, I am pretty sure about the days my local Targets make their price changes. I am just trying to figure out if it is better to go when a store opens up or later on in the day to give them a chance to make the price changes.
 
i am back on this thread, after my bumming out on not coming up on any deals in the long beach, lakewood, carson, and los angeles (california area), it seems like things are kicking in and more deals. oh am i crossing my fingers to at least find one good deal. going to check out the stores today and tomorrow and will report my findings.

Yep, it's YMMV too. Some stores do it before opening, some do it during the day. I've noticed one of my stores has been slowly creeping up what time they do it. Not sure if that's on purpose or if they're working slower or what.

At my Targets, the drops take place during the day. A couple do their drops early, while another I don't bother checking until late afternoon.
 
I think news of this site has really spread or I have a new hoarder in my area. I haven't got any good deals lately. Maybe I'm becoming too much of a cheapass.

I even hit a few out of the way Targets and never found anything good.
 
i saw someone's post about looking up the DPCI'S and tracking them in the system. im a bit confused about that. wonder if he was just referring to the target website. his posting was a few pgs back. i want to come up on some of the deals, but i am beginning to think its luck, whenever i walk in to my targets, everything is at retail.

I got the last Bionic Commando for $14.98 in Denton, TX. It seems that someone hid the copy. I also found a hidden Rainbow Six (PS3) for $7.48 but had to pass because I already have it for PS3.

Hey just to let the OP know, they have the SINGLE guitar GH:WT bundle with the newer guitar (with the slider thing) and the DUAL guitar WT bundle with 2 les pauls for the same price for PS3

i personally got the dual guitar bundle. prolly gonna give it as an xmas gift to my cousin cuz all my GH/RB stuff is for 360.
 
No additional drops at my Target to report. I'll probably make my rounds to the other local Targets later tonight.

Sorry none of those in the Targets I visit in LV.

But I did find last night a lone box of GH:WT single guitar bundle (newer guitar) with game for the PS2 for only $19.98. Picked it up because I couldn't resist the price, plus the sunburst guitar in the single bundle looks nicer than the black guitars in the double bundle. Was marked clearance $55.98 on the box but when I scanned it came out to the under $20 price.

That's kinda sad. As the PS3 Les Paul Guitar is known to have lag/calibration issues that can't really be fixed all that well, but Iv'e read that the WT Guitar for PS3 is great...

I wouldn't pay more than $15 for it. The game would be a hell of a lot better if half the time it wasn't "Loading...". To be honest that's my only real problem with the game - I swear there's just as much loading time as there is play time. It's redonkerous. I couldn't get past somewhere around 40% because I just got so angry at the load times.
 
As of last night, there were 2 SOCOM headset bundles that magically appeared for $15 at the Niles, OH(Eastwood Mall) Target.

They weren't there last time I was there, but they were last night.

Its the "My Book Essential Edition" made by Western Digital, its the one in the green box.

I haven't read this thread, it might have been posted earlier but if anyone wants additional info just let me know, oh and I saw a stack of Rhythm Heavens for DS at 20.98

yeah the loading is a bit of a pain, and the radiation is annoying when youre swinging around and dont think it should even be there... but i enjoyed it... especially getting further through it getting more attack upgrades etc. I paid $20 new at the GS sale... im happy with the purchase still but would have been happier picking it up for $10 as I saw at my local target

Nice find on the 500gb HDD for 24.98! The 1tb HDDs dropped to $83.98 from $99.98 today at one of the Targets near me, the next closes Target dropped their price by whopping $2.
 
Sorry for asking this (I read through the OP a couple of times but may still be getting it wrong) but if I saw a game from those listed on the first topic on sale at my local Target and it's marked at $19.99, does this mean:

(1) It's just a sale item and not on clearance, so it won't show up at the $4.98 price
(2) I hit jackpot and the price at my Target is not updated so I should be able to have it scanned at the register for $4.98

I hate asking the store associates to ring up prices because they always give me dirty looks as if I don't trust the prices marked at the store. I'm not always able to print stuff so getting the UPC code is not easy for me too.

The girlfriend however, stopped by some Targets for me. She picked up 50 Cent: BotS and X-Blades (both for the PS3) at 75% off for me. Woot.

Clearance prices are YMMV. Best thing to do is to check the price yourself at an end-cap scanner; you don't need to ask a clerk. 90% of the time the price tag is accurate; 10% of the time it's not. So, it doesn't hurt to double-check the prices.
