This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

You live in chesapeake? If so, its in the Glass Case, they had atleast 1 copy when i left earlier.
And lol, these coupons are beyond awesome, i have like 5k MS points now (Second most points i have ever had at once, the most being around 15k after that sale where you could get 1600 point cards for 5 dollars)
 
FYI The Buy 2 Get $10 off coupon is not working anymore!
Can someone else confirm this to be sure it's not just my Target?

If it's $15, the next price drop is usually $7.98. But by the time that happens next week, all the coupons will expire by then, so not really worth waiting.

Given Target's track record with this kind of thing, I wouldn't be surprised if the coupon still works after Christmas...
 
I zipped through a while ago they had a bunch of brand new Wii games and DS games (puzzle collection etc.) for $15 each. Most of them were kiddie shovelware though. These were regular MSRP. No clearance. I'm sure all targets have these.

I also saw Tiger Woods 09 for Ps2 for 7.48, Star Wars force unleashed PSP 7.48, Final Fantasy DS for 14.xx, and some naruto game for 14.xx.

I really lucked out today.

I got the GHWT dual guitar pack for 11.xx (for the 360) and the points card for free. I was really surprised to find this as I haven't seen this anywhere, for over 6 months.

I also picked up Mini Ninjas + points card for 12.xx
 
Got Assassins Creed :360: and Monster Hunter :psp: for $7.48 each. Got a 1600 point card with the coupon, too. Amazing stuff, I'm going to try and get a couple of more before the coup expires. Unfortunately the only $7.48 :360: game left at my local store is RAW 2008. Still a good deal to essentially get $20 of points for $7.50, but would prefer getting a nicer game. :D

Damn, I bought Rock Band 2 today for $12.48. Didn't know I could have gotten 1600 free Microsoft Points for it.

If it was any other time of the year, I'd return/rebuy but I don't think I want to go near stores for the next few days.

So, is it very easy to get the Hardware coupon to work on software? I really hope so.

Today I used a $5 off blu ray coupon, a 1600 microsoft point card coupon, a free ps3 blu ray remote coupon, and an expired $10 off 2 ps3 games coupon all in one transaction. I didn't have any other fluff like groceries. I just bought the stuff for the coupons.

I know this isn't a bragging thread, but there is advice within all this bragging. My advice is to try using a lot of coupons all at once at like 5:30pm when Target is busy as hell. You might luck out and find a nice employee who just wants to keep the line moving. It also helps to be personable.

The receipt is sort of funny because the Total is $37.41 and at the bottom it says "YOU SAVED $74.98." That doesn't even take into account that all the games I bought were already 75% off to begin with.

I showed the receipt to my mom and she said "...as long as you didn't do anything illegal..." It's severe exploitation, but it wouldn't be possible at all if it wasn't for Target and their crazy coupons.:)

I think the Target promotional department needs to have better communication with whoever is in charge of how items and coupons ring up at the cash register.

Yes, quite lucky. I remember seeing it a long time ago with the 14.xx sticker, but it vanished and I assume it was bought up. Of course, now that it was found in the value games section, I can only think of either an attempt to stash it, or more likely an employee just placing it back there, as it was quite in the open.
 
Sorry for being a bit behind the curve on this one, but would someone mind clarifying one thing for me? With this coupon, does it require a manual override to get the free points card when purchasing a game? Or is the register doing it automatically?

Games work automatically, accessories require an override.
 
Ok guys had to check this one out for myself. I was wondering the same questions all you were asking. I just got back from target, they close at 12 this week. Ok after looking in clearance all I found for :360: was Cars Race o rama for 19.xx. Looked in the glass case score! 2 copies of GodFather II for 14.98. Something catches my eye though, Farcry 2! Scanned that one and it was 7.48! So grabbed 2 1600 pt cards, the white ones not the orange ones! Grabbed a 12 pack of pepsi, target had a coupon for that too. Rang up both games and the pepsi, handed 3 coupons. Each coupon took 19.99 off for the ms points and 1 for the pepsi. Saved $43.12 so says my reciept. So no overrides needed, and 1 game for 1 card. However on SD someone posted they got 1 charge kit for :360: at 19.99 and got 2 cards free. His receipt is even posted but thats prob a YMMV.
 
Printed out 2 coupons. I'll let everyone know if it works tomorrow. I'm hoping so! I hope the place even has low clearance games.
 
They should work, no reason they wouldnt. Atleast unless you end up with a bad employee, or a manager or something. When i did it, there was like no registering or anything, she just scanned the coupon, scanned the card, then rung out.

Better run... I visited 4 Target's, and there's nothing you can find in clearance, sold out everything.... also, too much traffic today... no luck... I saw tons of clearance the last week, came this afternoon, went to 4 Targets, and everything was empty.

it's funny, how this one coupon has changed the video game enconomy.

Target's clearance racks are virtually empty...CAG's everywhere have MS points higher than their gamerscores, avatar items and XBLA games skyrocket in sales....TRU TIV's plumment.

This hasn't been mentioned enough to thread jumpers (or has it) but the points coupon will absolutely not work w/ the Call of Duty WaW $20 cards. That will raise a red flag and has got me denied twice. Only tried b/c they were OOS for the normal ones.

I hope this coupon lives on like the $10 one!!
 
The 1600 Points coupon was very much YMMV yesterday.
I went to two stores ... the first had absolutely ZERO clearance 360 selection, so I grabbed a play-and-charge kit (which I was going to buy anyway) and attempted to use the coupon --- no dice. It wouldn't scan and my cashier was letting the system be her guide. No override, although she admitted people had used it before.

So, a little miffed, I went to my other area store and found a copy of Smackdown v. Raw 2008 for $7.48 ... picked it up and figured, what the hell ... grabbed a $1 reserve card for Bioshock 2 ... got to the register, rang up the game, the reserve, both points cards and the coupons with no hassle at all ... walked with $48 worth of stuff for $8 and change.

On repeat attempts, was denied profusely at the same store ... coupon wouldn't even scan.

Wanted to ask, how many people have gotten the free PS3 Blu-ray remote with purchase of PS3 "hardware" to work? I'm maybe looking to pick up some HDMI cables and this would be a great deal.

Picked up Far Cry 2 for $7.48 yesterday but didn't use the coupon for the 1600 point card. I already got lots of great deals using the $10 off 2 coupon for DS, Xbox, Wii, and PSP games before it expired. Got many good deals from everywhere else too (Amazon, Newegg, GC) that my backlog is set for a while. I figure it was time for others to get in on the holiday cheer.

The Mods really are like police. They're never around when you really need one.

I need to hit one more target and hopefully there will be some xbox 360 game left so I can get one more 1600 pt card and then never worry about buying one again.
 
The mods here haven't been helping at all here for awhile. I've been posting DPCIs to put on the first page and they haven't been added at all.

Maybe in the future it would be better to update the OP with Target's clearance reduction pattern (30%, 50%, 75%, etc or whatever it is) along with common prices and list games with their discovery date and original price. Might make it easier to maintain not having to worry about lowest price found. Like so:

Common Prices and Their Reductions (original -> 30% -> 50% -> 75%)
59.99 Original Price -> 41.98 -> 29.98 -> 14.98
19.99 Original Price -> 14.98 -> 9.98 -> 4.98

Only prettied up. Then maybe relevant links to other threads or posts with stuff like coupon info (not that that would help as I don't know how many people actually look at the OP, but still). Just a thought, this is probably the only thread I play in regularly and I enjoy it greatly.
 
Thats pointless, the discounts vary so widely across the country that the best you can hope for is to be made aware that a game is on clearance. We all know the general sequence of drops that occur so why keep track of individual games, it's just information that's not necessary.

I do agree with the posters that have asked for trade requests to be made in the appropriate thread, those add way too much clutter. The ppl who post those requests are just inconsiderate.
