Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in gold are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Deal of the day on Amazon today at $19.99.

Darksiders (360) - 9.98
Neato, some fun clearance to hunt for these days. Thanks for the heads up.
Got some beach towels for 50% off. Dude wouldn't scan Darksiders, but just pointed to the shelf tag and said "It's $39.99."
If they refuse, call a manager. (I've never had to call a manager.)

I saw 1 copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy at both of my local Targets yesterday, a few copies of MLB: The Show, and Brutal Legend for PS3.

I already have Metroid and Brutal Legend and have no interest in baseball so I didn't pick anything up.
I suppose I could make some money by reselling the Metroid games but I don't have much spending money at the moment and I figured I should give someone who actually wants to play the game a chance to pick it up. *shrug*
Darksiders for $10? Damn, that one dropped quickly.
That feels like one of those internet return dealies to me, like my $10 copy of Tales of Vesperia.

I haven't seen anyone else reporting Darksiders on clearance, I could be wrong though.

By the same token, you might have given a person who buys games like MPT a chance to snag and resell it for sixty-five dollars.

Yeah, it's most likely an internet return. A straight drop to $9.98 (75% off) for a regular clearance game is not likely.

Yeah, so much for the dumbass people's theory that corporate is monitoring this site and discontinuing clearances now.

Mine had 3-4 Metroid Prime Trilogy on for $34.xx. I was going to pick them up but it wasn't worth flipping. If anyone is interested in one, I could check tomorrow.

They also had a couple Brutal Legends and de Blob. Nothing else that was interesting though.

For you it has. Near me, never been impressed with TRU clearance at the 2-3 ones I check occasionally.

I've also seen a minor resurgence in Target clearance... saw some Tekken 6 for 360 and a couple Wii games like Mario Power Tennis and Planet 51. That's more than the absolute nothing they've had lately.
and yet, TRU clearance has been stellar.
Really? There were no drops for several months and finally a bunch of stuff was added to clearance recently. We just got lucky that a B1G1 50% off stacked with a 25% off sale right after that latest drop which frankly had most prices higher than other places have had for most of the games. After the additional discount there were some pretty decent deals. I got a few myself.
Target has *always* gone through dry spells... even before the plastic prisons.
Agreed. All stores do.

The recent clearance drop was what I was referring to. If corporate monitoring really did lead to death of clearance, we wouldn't have seen that drop at all.

And it's not just shovelware. A lot of good titles hit clearance.

Dragon Quest V for $22?

If that's true, its an idiotic policy. By publicizing the clearance titles, its gets people to the store and gets rid of the excess inventory they're obviously trying to move. You would think bringing more business to the store would be a good thing for them.

I got you're in the movies. I assume the game sucks but I picked it up for the camera. How decent of a webcam is it btw? I will return it if you guys say it sucks lol

Agreed. People need to stop with the conspiracy theories. Clearance serves the dual purpose of getting rid of unsold stock and actually getting people into the stores where they will likely pick up other items. I seriously doubt this site or any other has convinced corporate people to stop clearance anywhere. The Target situation has been caused by a lack of poor selling games, lower orders of actual inventory due to the on-going switchover to the new plastic cases and more floor space as a result of having the plastic cases. After things start to backlog again, clearance will continue just as it always has and continues to do even if it is at a reduced rate right now.

Back OT, I got Call of Jaurez BIB for 4.98 at a metro Atlanta target yesterday.

yah, which is why laugh at people at their tinfoil hats. And for some reason they get mad at me. :)

I don't have any more time for games but I don't think I can resist BIB and Brutal Legend if I can find it for $5.

Crowing about how CAG isn't stopping clearance strikes me as even more dumb than saying CAG would somehow stop clearance pricing.

Target has been dry for a long, looong time. Much longer than any previous dry spell. I still say it's because of the economy. Clearance is due to overestimating supply. Which companies have been less likely to do as discretionary dollars dry up (like in the past couple of years). So they order more conservatively, which leads to less overstock and less clearance. Simple.

The plastic prisons added to the pain because they have more slots available than physical games, so there is little need to clearance games because they have the shelf space for them.

It's moronic to think that corporate sites don't monitor CAG, SD, etc, looking for glitches. If they aren't already, they will soon. Clearance is a natural part of selling. But glitches aren't. And CAG does all the legwork for companies--we're the best troubleshooters out there. So they only have to look on a couple of sites to instantly find out when they've made a mistake. Again, simple. ;)
Crowing about how CAG isn't stopping clearance strikes me as even more dumb than saying CAG would somehow stop clearance pricing.
nobody is crowing about CAG not stopping clearance. People are just pointing out that recent signs indicate that corporate monitoring hasn't killed clearance based on... logic. Instead of "OMGZ OMGZ the suits are here! The clearance skies are falling. OMGZ!" Which is dumber?

TRU corporate says, "We prefer mochi balls"

Every year at this time, there's a lot of deal sites that talk about Target discounting their summer stuff to 75%. Does that stop Target from doing it? No. Has Target figured out the ideal amount to stock so they won't have to go 75% off? No. I think most Target shoppers also know about the 50-75% off deals that occur with Halloween, Christmas, and Easter stuff. Target would rather take the hit on the sales to clear up floor space, with the good possibility that people will also pick up items NOT on clearance, vs. the Walmart way of just having a row of clearance stuff that's discounted 15-20% and sits for one-two months. The new plastic prisons means Target can keep more stuff in stock. Also, with the move to the plastic prisons most of the PS2 stuff was phased out, so there will be even more PS3 space relative to what PS3 and PS2 shared. And at the Targets I visited, Xbox had maybe 3 full shelving units for games and accessories. Now I'd say they have at least twice as much as that, if not more. Clearance will come, just give it time.

Interesting plastic prison incident: was in my local Target and saw the Spongebob game (whatever it is) for the 360. It was $9.98 (75%). THe interesting thing was it was stacked in an empty slot in the new structure. That is the corded case was empty and the games were just lying in the locked space behind it, not stacked for visibility. I just happened to notice them there. Wasn't interested in it, but we might have to start searching the aisles looking for other clearance games. May just be bad staff at my store, but ran into the same thing while on vaca in CA. Only in that case I scored PS3 Red Faction for $4.98.

I've seen the same - front is empty, games in the back. Guess the employees need some more training on what games to hand out.

I don't think so... I don't shop video games on Target since March because is gone. I remembered las year.... every 2 or 3 months we have a huge discount games on clearance, well that was before. Right Now with the new remodel, Target has a NEW POLICY. Just look the BIG plastic prison for Ps3, is 3 or 4 times more than was before. Of course discount games still going but with a very slow speed. We still can find video games on clearace, but not as much as we usually did before.

I picked up Call of Juarez on 360 for $4.98 today in Grand Rapids, MI. It was sitting at $13.98 for the last month or so. I know some CAG's were able to pick it up at the $4.98 price at other locations; but this was back in June, so perhaps more stores have done the drop from $13.98 to $4.98; which is why I'm posting.

Granted, I must've missed those "dumbass" comments, but it's a ridiculous argument to begin with (corporate stopping clearance because of CAG). So why make a big deal about it not happening?

If corporate is here, then they will catch the glitches. That's all. Things like penny guides, free games at BB, overlapping coupons (that shouldn't overlap), online pricing glitches, etc, etc. CAG draws attention to that stuff, which makes it easier for the stores to spot. That, too, is logical, no?

The irony is that Target is probably the LEAST likely store to be affected by this sort of thing. BB, TRU, Amazon--those are the ones with all the glitches. I can't remember the last real Target glitch.

And I hit the local stores in Texas and saw maybe 3 games on clearance, all XBOX360 stuff. Only interesting one was Juarez for $5, like others have reported.

It's because you missed the dumbass comments to begin with. They were truly reactionary and ridiculous.
I can't remember the last real Target glitch.
There have been several glitched Target coupons in the past couple years.

Darksiders is still $39.99 at my local Target. Had the sales person scan, but she said it was 39.99. Funny, but she wouldn't show me the price. It was like she was hiding it. I bet if I go there tomorrow it will be gone. :)

Only in that case I scored PS3 Red Faction for $4.98.

I've seen the same - front is empty, games in the back. Guess the employees need some more training on what games to hand out.
Some employees don't know how to open the new case doors, but they do know how to open the plastic display cases. I've seen them do it a couple of times...or they just don't have the keys.

Noticed some drops today:

Paper Mario $24.98
Metroid Trilogy $24.98

I saw a few MPT yesterday @ the Target near Ontario Mills, they were marked $35 sitting at one of the end caps near the electronic section.
There have been several glitched Target coupons in the past couple years.
For example the good old days of the TGI Friday coupons.

Also found some MPT today that wasn't there earlier in the week at $34.xx. I picked one up (for my personal collection), but there were at least 4-6 copies left. Will probably check again next week to see if it warrants a return/rebuy if it gets dropped even lower.

Also seen quite a few G.I. Joe for the PSP, Alone in the Dark for 360, and some version of GH for Wii. Don't remember any of the prices for them though.
