Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in gold are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Saw 2 copies of Bayonetta (PS3) for $24.98 at TheHelix's Target. Hoarded them to wait until they drop in value to nearly nothing, then I'm just going to throw them away so nobody can play them ever.

+1 lol.

*shakes fist*

Oh yeah no clearance updates this weekend. Gonna enjoy a week off before I start my final (hopefully) year at school.

Not sure if Target Corp monitors this thread but Haseen (security guard) @ Target on South Blvd in Charlotte NC made me feel like a criminal in the front of his store in public.

He all but accused me of trying to rig the system with my sheet of bar codes. Apparently Haseen believes that Target gets their own special videogame boxes with their own special bar codes. Already wrote Target Corp about the story but I just wanted to say something here too, I will not be visiting that Target or any other Target until I hear back.

I was trying to buy Halo Wars which did ring up at the clearance price of $4.95 on my barcode sheet. I spent about 20 min getting a helpful employee to remove the last copy in the plastic prison (on the display tether that blocks you from scanning the price.) Surprisingly to me the game ran up at $29.95. I showed the employee my barcode sheet and explained how it was supposed to ring up at $4.95. He took me up to 'Guest Services' all the while saying how nice they would be, and promptly dumped the game and my sheet off with Haseed the Security Guard.

I'm getting pissed just thinking about it again. I'm still not sure what happened, for some reason there are two Halo Wars listings? Must be.

I'm sorry, but the way you described it, I probably would have called the police too if I was the employee. If the item scanned on the register at $30, that's the store's price. The fact that you are walking around with some random list of bar codes trying to convince the employee that they should discount the game $25 on your word that they are in fact the correct bar codes smells scammy to me and I'm a CAG who actually prints barcodes to check prices on occasion. There are in fact several Halo Wars SKUs including the collector's edition, regular edition and the newer Platinum Hits. Chances are you printed the wrong bar code and you should have just said no thank you when the price came up on the register instead of trying to argue about it.

if they scanned it up and it rang up 29.95, i wouldn't argue or show them my barcode sheet. speaking for myself, it's not weird seeing someone with a sheet of barcodes, cuz i know the reason behind it. but for outsiders, it's a different story and too long of a story to explain it. better off just walking away from that one.

This is exactly why I don't print barcodes. You have to realize how shady you look showing up with a list. And you can't argue what the store's price is. You look like a complete scam artist. Just cut your loss and move on.

I knew there were Cags in my area, as the Target clearances have been busts in the past couple months.

Picked up :wii:Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 for $20.98. I would have waited for another drop but I'm going back to school next week and may have have a chance to keep checking it.

Why the hell would you argue a price that comes up on the register!

Clearly your barcode sheet has the wrong UPC. There are 3 versions of Halo Wars.

ANd to top it off you're gonna report this to corporate? You realize that scammers sometimes put barcode stickers over real barcodes to get the cheaper price right? You're lucky the cops didn't show up.

The only time you argue with a price on the register is if there was signage (or stickerage) to the contrary.

How exactly am I 'lucky' when I spent ten minutes talking to the 'cop' in the store?

I'm not a scammer and I didn't appreciate being treated like one. I never argued the bar-code on the game, and unfortunately it didn't occur to me in the store that there might have been other versions of Halo Wars.

I've already reported it to corporate. There is nothing wrong with taking a sheet of bar codes into a store and it does not give them the right to hassle me the way they did. I don't give a $hit what scammers do, if I was found with a sheet full of bar-code stickers and had tried to use them on an item that would be a completely different situation.

You're probably right, I probably was lucky because even though I was completely innocent and being hassled the cops definitely would have wasted at least an hour more of my time.

I've learned my lesson. I'll just start wasting the employees time and not feeling the least bit upset about it.

edit: To further clarify, I never argued the price that came up on the register. I never tried to get a price match or anything. I asked the clerk that I thought it was on clearance for $5 and showed him my sheet. I understand in retrospect how that could have been misinterpreted, but I never tried or thought about 'switching' bar codes or anything of that matter. People act like these bar codes are some magical item when they are not even something based in Target. The bar code system is universal and I was trying to use it to check inventory/prices, not rip Target off. But lesson learned, I will be much more protective of my sheet in the future, or forgo it entirely.

Also to further clarify, Halo Wars is in their system as clearance at $4.95. It's not some made-up product or bar code. The bar codes are blocked in the plastic prison as well so there is no way to check if it is the 'correct' Halo Wars unless you are already familiar with the product line. Clearly, I was not.

I didn't say you were a scammer. I'm just saying to Target security, you acted like a scammer, which is why they treated you like they did.

I'm not saying they were right. I'm saying you weren't very smart in your actions. Reporting to corporate doesn't help. As someone above said, you shoulda just cut your losses and chalked it up to experience. Especially when you screwed up the UPC.

Dude, retail employees have shitty enough jobs. Don't hassle some innocent one just cause a security guard gave you crap.

I didn't report the guy who turned me in, just the security guard. Anyway, what's done is done I didn't mean to derail the thread. Back to those awesome Target clearance deals, we all know I'm not going to stop shopping at Target over this I was just upset. Not at not getting the game, just at the way they handled it in front of the store and other customers. I didn't really see it from their POV at the time but I can understand now by his actions that he thought I thought I was getting out of there with the game for $5. I gave up all hope of that once it rang up at $30 and I should have left then instead of inquiring.

That's not exactly how it went down. Furthermore, you cannot just 'create' a bar code and have it come up with 'Halo Wars' for $4.95. That's not how it works. The barcode is legit and in their system, but it did not match the actual product on the shelves. It's not as simple as just creating a bar code to ring up at $4.95 in a company's system unless you had special inside access. But obviously the employees did not know that and I think that is what was going through their minds in retrospect.

I think you handled it fairly well given the circumstance and the employee's reaction was unexpected. What did you or the security guard say before you were finally let go?

Just because a game goes clearance at one store, does make it so for all. So because it may be clearanced for $4.95 at one, yours might keep full retail price. I worked at a Target for a couple years and from my experience that is how it worked.

Yeah, which I tried to explain to the security guard was the reason for the bar codes. He admitted as much too. The thing that I was unaware of was that there were multiple UPC codes for the game. My code was valid, and that game was on clearance at that Target, but the game I tried to get out of the shelf was the wrong version of the game.

I should have just walked out, lesson learned. I didn't have any malicious intent behind the bar codes and as such made no effort to hide them. I knew when we were walking to the front that there was no way I was getting that particular game for $5. But the situation turned so quickly that I was unable to process exactly what was happening.

That's what ended up upsetting me to the point of contacting corporate. I'm pretty much over the whole situation now though, just got embarrassed in public in their store for no reason. But it's hardly the end of the world.

The guard held up my paper and gave a look (others were beginning to gather at this point) and stated that there was no way he was price matching some bar code that I brought in. I never asked him to do such a thing but before I could respond he scanned the game and it rang up for $30. He asked abruptly if I still wanted it which I said no and he called the employee back loudly to give him the game. He then asked if that was it? That was when I asked for my paper back which he did give to me. But you could feel the tension in there, it sucked. I was embarrassed and mad. He never scanned my paper. The employee did and saw it did ring up correctly in his system but was unable or unwilling to articulate that to the security guard. It was clear the guard has no idea how UPC codes work and was unable to process that almost every store uses the same code in their inventory. He clearly thought I designed a code to fool their system into giving me a $30 game for $5. That was the other thing that upset me too, they are the ones selling a game for $5 but one of their employees made me feel like shit for wondering why it didn't ring up at the price it was supposed to.

A simple comparison of my bar code to the game would have been sufficient. Upon my visit to Target tonight I see that the 360 UPC codes are NOT blocked by the plastic prison like I thought, so I should have double-checked them myself.

Bayonetta PS3 at a local store, 3 copies @ 29.98. I tried scanning just to see if it was lower and it said Info Not Found :\ Also tried scanning Jak and Daxter PSP but same error.

The security guard will no doubt be unaware of your intent or understand what you are really doing with your magical paper. A concerned employee brought a suspicious person to him, so he has to question you and see if you are up to foul play. Thats his job. He isn't going to look at you and think "oh this is just a CAG looking for discounts". Even if you explain, they will have a measure of doubt as criminals aren't honest people. Apparently since nothing further happened outside of a bit of embarrasment, they accepted your claims and found no foul play.

Always remember even if the barcode is in the system, the one on the game is all that matters to anyone in the store. That is the one valid price unless there is a sticker or authentic store ad to prove otherwise. Even trying to pass off old barcodes for the same game is considered scamming. People have been known to try to cover current barcodes with older barcodes to get a discount. Thats probably the concern the employee had. Reporting the security guard, for your own mistake and lack of knowledge doesn't help the situation at all.

As others have said, it sucks but you move on. You also never show your shiny sheet of barcodes to employees and security. If you didn't, you wouldn't have an issue. May your future Target experiences be much much better then this one :bouncy:
I knew there were Cags in my area, as the Target clearances have been busts in the past couple months.
I shop at those Charlotte targets too:D

During the Buy 2 Get $20 GC, I found some deals.. I got Metroid Prime for 24.98. Super Paper Mario for 24.98 and 2 copies of PS3 Bayonetta for 14.98.. And received 2x $20gc with that purchase.

I took a look at my Target and the only Halo Wars that they had was the Platinum Line and that was tagged at the $30 price tag. As with Gears of War 2 a while back, the original game was clearanced and had a different bar code from the Platinum Line, which was not on clearance and had a different UPC and DCPI number as well. But again with the Plastic Prisons, you could not see the Bar Code, so it's tough to compare the two. But that is the mistake I commonly make is seeing the clearance for the original issue of the game and then only finding the Platinum line version which is never on sale at the same time.

Just my 2 cents.

On the other side, I was strolling thru my Target after checking Halo Wars and found a Sony Home Theater system HT SS370 on clearance for 75% off the $350 price tag (about $87.50) DCPI 008-02-0424 in CT. I snatched it up and when I was at another store in CT it was listed at the full $349.99 price tag.

That's a nice deal.
Just came back from my Target in Philly and bought pro evolution soccer 2010 for xbox360 for 13.90 bucks!!
I saw that at my local Target (Los Banos, CA) for I think $14.95, but I'm not a huge soccer fan, so I skipped it.

I also saw Guitar Hero 5 (game only) on Wii for $19.99 and Dark Void on the 360 for $14.95. I almost got Dark Void, but I've heard some people on here say that it's not even worth $10. Plus, I'm trying to save money since I've been on a bit of a spending spree lately and I'm trying to get some real life stuff done (I hate you real life, trying to interfere with my gaming time), which is why I didn't get either game. :(

The same Target that I bought Red Faction: Guerrilla for $5 two months ago had about 6 copies back in a prison tagged $19.99. Uh...wtf?

Yeah, that's always fun to see.

Another head scratcher is seeing some of the good, quality games hit clearance yet garbage like, I don't know, Mad Dog McCree remain there at the same price.

I personally want to buy Mad Dog, but only around the 5-7 price range. It'll be good for a laugh.

Oh man I would LOVE to find one of these! I wonder if my local Target(s) have them on clearance yet...

I used a $10 off xbox game on a $13.98 game and it only took $1.75 off. I can't figure out the math on that one. I was thinking normal price is $59.99 so the coupon takes 1/6 off but 1/6 of $13.98 is 2.33.

In the end, cashier did a manual override.

I've seen some new games on clearance (not sure if already reported):

Sushi Go Round
Fabulous Finds
My Sims Racing

all ds

Yeah, it's part of the mystery of how Target works. I've seen games do this numerous times, and there really is no rhyme or reason why it happens. Very often I will have a TV/Camera/video game come up as "discontinued" on my PDA, which means that no more of that product will be sent to us from the distribution center, only to have it become "active" again a couple months later.

inventory is a strange thing.

I recently saw the Guitar Hero World Tour whole band bundle for $60. Is that even a good price for the whole set? I have the game and its collecting dust cause I'm more of a rockband guy, but I need a 2nd guitar and a drum set (and the 2nd mic wouldn't hurt either)

Yes. You probably won't get much for unloading the game on eBay or Gamestop, but the guitar is pretty good, and I personally like to play the GH games with the GH branded drumset. I think there's even a few achievements on some of the games that you have to use GH drums; RB drums won't work. It's the same wired Logitech microphone that all games have included, so if you've used other ones and been happy with it, you'll be OK with it. If I hadn't picked up Band Hero last year when it was down to $45, I'd pick up this set for the guitar and drums.

I actually currently have a guitar from this set and while I like the more recent Rockband one more, it has served me well none-the-less. I've heard the guitar hero drum kit is a bit funky when using it in Rockband though, which concerns me since rockband comprises 99% of my rhythm game use.

I've made the decision to wait a couple more days and hope for a drop (and will probably scan it just to make sure it's properly marked next time I go). It's right at the threshold for me, so even a $10 price drop will make it a buy and I can wait.

Target's tend to drop clearance prices on Tuesdays right?

My nearest Target has flooded the clearance section with a ton of Call of Duty 3 PS2 copies. I wonder what's going to happen to all of them since they're not moving. They had a lot of Mass Effect 1 copies just collecting dust last year and one day they were suddenly all gone.
van halen for $6.24?! definitely getting that =D
I prefer picking up the GH games on Wii and might double dip on the 360 version if I can get it cheap enough.

Having said that, GH Van Halen was a mess on the Wii. I got the free copy for buying GH5 and everything about the game made it seem like it was done on a shoestring budget.

The worst thing about it were the load times. I've played plenty of GH games on the Wii and thouroghly enjoyed them. Nothing was as bad as GH VH. Almost every button press in the menu's seemed to result in a long load screen. This pretty much killed the entire experience.

Have no idea how the 360/PS3 versions play or if maybe they fixed these issues on the Retail Wii version.

EDIT: just did a quick search to confirm that the Wii version was NOT done by Vicarious Visions. Vicarious actually cared about making good GH games on the Wii

i hope i can find a ps3 version tomorrow.

My local Target had a bunch of DS games and Fairytale Fights for the 360 for $13.XX. Almost picked up Fairytale Fights, but decided against it. Rather wait till Naughty Bear goes to clearance.

One of the very few times I've actually found something that was useful that I was not looking for. Took me a while to figure out how to hook it up given my ancient entertainment center limitations. I had to splice some of the wire connectors to the HT system with extra speaker wire that they would reach from the HT system to the speakers themselves. Wires can be a pain.

It had said that it was S-AIR compatible (that's sony's wireless hook up) but you had to buy not only the wireless transmitter (which would fit in the slot set up on the back of the HT system - that was the compatible part) but then you also had to buy Sony's S-AIR wireless rear speaker (whcih would have cost twice what I paid for the HT System) so I bagged it for now and am using the wires for the surround speakers as well. My family loves it and keeps the HTS on all the time even when just watching TV whereas I thought they would only tolorate it for Movies.

Usually, I just read about these deals and never experience them.
