Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in gold are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ElHoardo1.jpg

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

:applause::applause::roll: rly?

anyhoo, picked up NBA10 Inside on PSP for $7.48 at the Eastvale, California store. Still 2 on the rack.
yeah man, he's just trying to justify it.
Exactly so. "I can do it, so therefore it's acceptable."

Back on topic!: I hit several Targets far out of my normal range, plus the local stuff, and game clearance has almost entirely dried up since the plastic prisons came in. (Not that it was great in the last 9 months or so.) Some CAGs suggested patience, as it takes time after the prisons to go through inventory and pick out the clearance stuff, but it's been a couple of months. I assume that's enough time, no?

If we want to be optimistic, this may actually help us in the future. If clearance games are harder to spot, then they should, in theory, sit on the shelf longer. Which means deeper markdowns. The only catch is that we all have to put in more effort to spot them.... :whistle2:?

My local Target in Bakersfield, CA recently went to the plastic prison and clearance games pretty much vanished.

This week though, there are a few copies of Resistance 2 (PS3) for $14.98 - really considering nabbing one. They also had Band Hero (PS3 - Game Only) for $19.98.

My local Targets with plastic prisons are still using clearance end caps for games (saw plenty of Red Faction and Sega Genesis Collection).

I also saw one store had a clearance sticker on an imprisoned game--specifically the leashed one, so I believe the rest behind it were marked down as well.
I also doubt the LBP bundle makes it to 75% off. I'd buy it now if I were you, atc250es.
I don't really care if I get it because I already have 2 dualshock 3s, 1 sixaxis and LBP GOTY. But for $14.98 I won't pass on it.

Well It's better then Wal-Marts idea to just have the cases open in security boxes - because people always find a way to get the games. Honestly wish my Wal-Mart did the same thing with the plastic prison. I know it sucks you have to wait for an employee or they don't update the prices asap but thats the breaks.

My Target in Newington still places clearance outside of the cases, most of the time, on the end cap so it hasn't been a big loss for me yet.
Actually Target is switching to the plastic prison setup is because of shrinkage, according to some employees I spoke to. Before the new setup, the management told them to secure games not in placed in the glass case with the electronic spider wrap thingy, to the point that the device would warp or damage the merchandise.

They said they lost a lot of games through theft. How their games get stolen from the glass cases under all the security cameras in the ceiling is beyond me.
Yea I really don't understand how people steal the games out of the glass cases. I was at a Walmart a few weeks ago picking up a game and overheard two employees talking about how someone stole like 8 games from the xbox case and didn't get caught when he did it. How the hell does that happen?

I thought eau's quote was saying that the games NOT in the glass case were being stolen, so all loose games had to be individually security tagged. I figured the benefits of the plastic prisons were:
-more games stored securely
-more visibility over the aisles for associates
-less work since only the game on the leash needs to be individually boxed (the rest are loose in the "prison")
-associates don't need to open the case every time someone wants to just look at a game

Me, too. And it's confusing. Sometimes the game has the clearance sticker. And sometimes the clearance sticker is placed over the price sticker on the shelf. It's much easier to spot the shelf sticker than the sticker on the game inside the plastic shell.

It's happened to us too and it's hard to explain how they break in without showing you the actual case. We had an instance where some of our DSi's were actually found scattered around the store in various hiding spots in the morning not too long after the store had opened. My guess was that the thieves went straight to electronics after we opened, and had successfully broken into the case well before I had a chance to get there after clocking in for work... and perhaps developed a slight paranoia of being followed because two DSis were in seperate aisles in Toys, and the rest were found in the women's bathroom.

It would definitely not be an easy thing to do because it requires perfect timing and no one else around to do it, but rest assured if you even get those two stars to align, you are in plain view of the security cameras. If it's any indication on how closely those game cases are watched at Target, we found the guys who stole the DSi's from the cases well before they left the store.

Problem with catching the thieves in the act, is once they leave the store, policy (various stores) is not to pursue. I have seen first hand people walking with merchandise around the store, and then bolt out the front door. True you can get a description, video, etc but if security is not right there to apprehend them, the employees are not allowed to chase and arrest.

And those glass cases have locks, which can be picked, broken, spare key, etc so unless someone is there paying attention physically or by video, the culprits can stash the stuff for their accomplices to come in later and make the snatch and grab.

I once saw this guy get tackled in front of Target for stealing. The guys who tackled him were under cover (dressed in casual clothes), had walky talkies and clearly had some authority from Target to do what they did. From the looks of things, they had to wait until he stepped outside before they could make a move.

Yeah. They can't make arrest until the suspect steps out of the store. As long as the merchandise is still inside the store, the suspect is not stealing. He can act weird in the store and at the end he may still pay for the stuff before he leaves. You can't legally accuse a suspect of theft if he is stashing stuff inside the store :whistle2:# At most you can confront him and scare the shit out of him.

The Target in Tucson on Broadway by the chik-fil-a (I forget the cross street) has about 5 copies of Call of Jaurez for $14. I was hoping for a red faction.

i fuckin hate "floor walkers" :bomb:

ive never fuckin got in trouble in my life, and i get followed by those fuckers everytime i walk into target, and WALMART

its just hate the man trying to hold me down, i wish i was white......

I've checked every local GR, MI Target and there is absolutely nothing clearance related at all since the "upgrade". Target has gone from one of the best places to get CAG to one of the worst recently. Sears/Steam/Amazon has been getting all my money recently.

Hopefully before the fall we will start seeing more items hitting clearance again.

I got hope today in several Targets seeing the most clearance stuff I have seen in months, here is what I saw...

Punch out- 20
Brutal Legend- 13 (both)
Bayonetta- 20 (both)
Lego Star wars 2- 4 (pc)
Ninja Gaiden 2- 30 something (ps3)
spectrobes- 10 (wii)
Plus some Psp games and Ps2 games unrecalled.
I saw these over several targets in Ohio, and they both had the new display jails, so some hope maybe.

All :360:

Spongebob 27.98

GI Joe 7.48
Thrillville Greatest Hits 3.74 (o_O)
Ghostbusters 13.98

GTA ELC 20.98

Beaverton, OR. All games in their respective sections with obvious red tags on each one, no more endcap there.

Stopped by the Target in South Brunswick, NJ today. They switched to what's being referred to as the "plastic prison". Didn't see a single clearance game. I was too lazy to check the store in Princeton, but I might swing by this weekend.

Picked up Band Hero with all the instruments for PS3 for $40 today. Thought that was a steal Since the instruments can be used with guitar hero and rock band.

I ended up picking up a tube of Crest Pro-Health Enamel Defense w/ free sample sized bottle of the Pro-Health mouthwash for $2.12(50% off).

Other than that, I saw a Vizio 24" LED tv(full 1080p) that's currently $359.99, but they're supposed to start clearancing that pretty soon.

Besides that I saw a lone copy of the GTA Episodes From Liberty City for PC for $20.98.

IATCG... how do you find these big electronics items on clearance at 75% off??? If I recall correctly you've found a couple of tv's/ monitors no? Haha I'm super jealous; at all my targets they take these off clearance and salvage them at like 30%. I recently found a TV that was out of the system, and I was super excited, thinking theyd sell it to me at the 75% off price, but the last known price was like 35% off or something random...

I saw Uncharted 2 guides in the MIR (Merchant Initiated Returns) tub in receiving the other day *sniff*

8 guides that could've possibly went on clearance, but I already platinumed it.

I just got lucky on a few of them, I guess. But usually the clearance tv's at Kmart disappear before they can make it to 90% off or the only one left by 90% off is some severely damaged display model that's only worth 1% out of that remaining 10% of the price.

As for the ones at Target, I have seen them last till 30-50%, but beyond that you'd have to become El Stasho and lug one to housewares and duck it behind something to have it last any longer, especially with the new larger clearance stickers that're hard to miss.

Clearance section gone from mine too. one of the endcaps had 2 copies of GT5:p for $21 and 2 copies of brutal legend ps3 for $13. they had GH5 for $12, GH:VH for $15, and beatles rb for $10 all with the normal priced games, so i grabbed beatles RB. :D
and i scanned a bunch of barcodes, left 4 dead GOTY 360 is $5 and red faction PS3 is $5. pretty much everything else in the op either didn't scan or was normally priced.
one target had phantom hourglass in the stockroom for $35. D:

edit: both targets were in fort myers, fl.

the beatles RB rang up at $30 though.

In the backroom they're updating the backstock system so that you have to count individual items now. I was hoping to find some lost electronics clearance today but nothing showed up except for a Psyclone wireless gamecube controller for 3.74 but it was ringing up salvage.

At least I got some hot pocket calzones in the freezer part of the stockroom for 26 cents. I got a box of 8.

One target near me had no clearance but one had a TON. Mostly MLB 08 on PS2 and Brutal Legend for $13 on PS3. No GH or anything. I wish I could find GT5:prologue cheap.

Mmmmmmm Hot Pockets. For $.26, I would 'grab all dem shitz' since I'm always on the go and for under $.50 a box I would not be debating wtf to eat.

Of course if I ate those for any length of time I'd probably look like Jabba The Hutt before too long.

I'm pretty sure you can add Brutal Legend to your list. I have seen it at three different stores in PA on the clearance rack. XBOX360 version for 9.98

other than that i saw strawberry shortcake for ps2 2.48
I may get it if it when it hits $20. I have an 8 and 10 year old that like Spongebob, and my 2 year old loves him too. A nice achievement padder.
One target near me had no clearance but one had a TON. Mostly MLB 08 on PS2 and Brutal Legend for $13 on PS3. No GH or anything. I wish I could find GT5:prologue cheap.
Last June, my local Target clearanced Gran Turismo 5 Prologue at $9.99. Apparently to make room for the Greatest Hits version which sells for $29.99. LOL.
i fuckin hate "floor walkers" :bomb:

I'm white and they do this to me too, but I do usually wear a hoody or a fitted hat, so maybe that's it?

You two have the wrong idea, here. They're not looking to get you in trouble. They're desperate for friends and companionship, and hope that maybe you'll talk to them, give them a smile or a wave, anything to make their lives feel less lonely.
