Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in gold are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell
No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

yep :(. At my store we rarely had clearance, and now, we have the "plastic prisons" :(
Wow now that's the deal I'v been looking for. Been trying to find those two games on clearance, the gift card is a good bonus. If u don't mind me asking what state are u in?
I'm in Iowa. It's incredibly rare for me to find anything good on clearance on Target. I've been to about four of them regularly and I've only picked up 3 or 4 games since last November... I guess it's kinda worth it though.

Couldn't agree more at least as far as target goes. Been to a few here and there and never see any decent console clearance games just crapware and PC crapware games but that is it. Hope someone in Southern CA proves this wrong

A few weeks ago, I visited 5 Targets and tried to get a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy............ no luck and really makes me cry what I found is absolutely nothing. You still can find Tekken 6 Xbox 360 (some of them)... but I prefer to save some gas, stay at home or school and enjoy my summer.

Last 2 years I was at Target every week...
Does this work?

I tried going to half.com, but can't find any barcodes.

Also tried looking up some barcodes for games on google images, but they are from different countries or whatnot.
You have to read what FOS wrote.

Goto half.com. Search for game (Eg spongebob).

On the page listing you will see:

UPC: 094357923459348

Copy the UPC number and goto upcdatabase.com. There lookup that UPC code. It will have a gif/jpg of the UPC barcode. Save that image and put it into word or whatever and make a UPC scan sheet.

Couldn't resist today. Picked up the last Metroid Prime Trilogy in Fleming Island. It was dropped to $24.98.

Question about Burnout Paradise - is that the platinum hits edition? I asked the lady to scan it, and she scanned the $19.99 barcode and not the game's barcode so it showed $19.99.

Got Tekken 6 XBOX and Super Paper Mario today in s. Denver area.

Paid 19.98 for Tekken 6 and 24.98 for SPM. Got the 20 buck gift card, bringing the total for both to pretty sweet prices.

Also bought IL2-Sturmovik XBOX for 7.48
You're right it's supposed to work like, but I don't know if it's a glitch or not, but what I do know is if a game gets marked down from 39.99 or up, then it should still qualify for the sale. My target even had a crap ton of MLB 09: The Show and it also qualified for the sale. They had Alone in the Dark and that didn't qualify.
Can confirm this works as well on any clearance game originally priced 39.99 or up.

what? what's the $19.99 barcode? There's only 1 barcode on the game.
what? what's the $19.99 barcode? There's only 1 barcode on the game.
It was in the plastic prison. I'm talking about the little yellow tag with the barcode and price on it that is under the game.
It was in the plastic prison. I'm talking about the little yellow tag with the barcode and price on it that is under the game.
That should be the same thing. They're scanning their inventory and pricing for that game. Unless they scan the wrong game, it's the price you pay at the register.

As always, clearance is YMMV so it's possible your target hasn't clearanced that out yet.

(The only thing it would be different is when they mis-sticker an item -- which would then require a manager override anyway.)
Visited the Target in Anaheim Hills today.

They don't even have any clearance games at all.
That location is always rough. I once got Elite Beat Agents there on clearance for ~$7. Have they installed plastic prisons there? I haven't been there in quite some time. Pre-plastic prisons the game clearance was to the left of the TVs where the pharmacy shelves converge on the back wall.

It works, you just lack the basic reading comprehension skills necessary to perform said task.

Yep, it's all prisons now. They only had pharmacy clearance items there :)
Walked around and they had no other clearance anything.

There is no UPC code for Gears 2 GOTY ed

The Target deals around here that have been so dead for the last few months that I rarely ever go to Target anymore. I kinda miss my weekly clearance hunts.

Last week somebody posted that they saw 2 Metroid Prime Trilogy's at the Ontario Target - I drove out to that Target just a few days ago and picked up the last copy.

I think some stores have the game, but after restructuring the games into the plastic prisons they haven't put them out yet. Some Targets don't even have a clearance end cap yet. I know I checked a few stores that were like this and while I didn't find the game anywhere, when I used the in-store scanner it said they had them in the back.

Everyone in Target tonight was bitchy & very unhelpful...probably because they were doing inventory. Seriously? Is it necessary to almost yell @ a customer to tell them that their register is closed? Generally speaking, you may not want to be there, but sure as hell don't act so obvious about it to customers. I'm sure there are many people whom would love to take your place all things considered.

Anywho...on a good note I picked up Fallout Trilogy for $3.74. It was still stickered $10.78 however I figured I'd scan it anyways. Best deal I've found on Target clearance in ages.

They also had several copies of Pokemon Explorers of Time. It just dropped to $17.48 from $24.98. Not a bad drop. I'll keep me eye on this one.

Target around me have been dry ever since they redid their gaming section. Went today and only thing they had was Operation Flashpoint for PC and some exercise games for the Wii. Wasnt waste of a trip though, picked up a couple of Jimmy Dean breakfast meals for $1.3x when it regularly goes for $2.99.

Saw something strange today in one of my local Targets... Metroid Prime Trilogy COLLECTOR'S EDITION - steel case, limited comic and other stuff - on clearance for $34.99... Was everyone picking up the CE or is that an anomaly????

Same here. I used to go weekly, sometimes twice a week. Now I go once a month and even then it's usually a bust.

I picked up 2 Bayonetta for $14.98 ea and got the $20 GC. I always wanted the 360 version but for practically $5, I couldn't pass. Hopefully the PS3 version is playable.

Bit on Metroid and Paper Mario for $25 each and I got the $20 gift card like others had mentioned. I wanted to wait to see if they would drop next week but the Metroids were dwindling too fast.

That's the only edition of MPT that was ever released.

Not unless you do a return/rebuy. Also, only two copies of the game will get you a gc. You will need another game to pair up with the third MPT to get a second GC.
How are you guys getting a free gift card?
Certain clearance games that were originally $39.99 or more still qualify for the $20 GC deal when you buy 2 games $39.99 or more.

You can thank me for two of the Metroids if you got them from Culpeper. :D I returned them there after getting them from another store.

I beat Bayonetta on the PS3 and had no issues whatsoever. I guess maybe it had problems before an update, but it has been good for a while now. And lucky you for finding those. I only ever saw one of these at any price and I've been to 6 or so Targets this week.

WTF!? I bought 2 clearance games today and got no gift card - and both were $39.99 original price (Tekken 6 and Spongebob Truth or Square). I'll have to return Tekken 6 now because no way do I want to pay $20 just for that (I'll keep the $10 Spongebob though I guess). After all my Target visits this week this was the first pair I saw that was even close to worth buying. Previously I had seen 2 x Singstar Queen but at $20 each I didn't want that deal even if I were to get the $20 GC.

Yeah, it doesn't work on all clearance games originally price $39.99. Spongebob truth or square definitely doesn't work. I bought two copies the other day for $20. Figured if i got the GC, great. But $10 each was ok by me.

Picked up 2 copies of Metroid Prime Trilogy for $25 each and got the $20 gift card. Thanks a bunch to whoever figured out that the gift card comes with the clearance games.

After thinking about it some more, I don't think it works on $9.98 games, because it reduces the games prices by $20 total and charges you $20 for the GC and 2 $9.98 games would make the total less than $20 and the system doesn't know what to do and doesn't accept it. Tekken 6 worked for me on Wednesday night when it was $19.98.

If your Target has the newer scanners with the DCPI buttons, you can input it the number or scan the game and if it shows a $20 gift card offer on the scanner on the right side when the game is scanned it qualifies, otherwise it doesn't.

Based on that, the best deal is going to be $14.98 or $12.48 games that are 75% off (probably a $14.98 game that was originally $29.99 wouldn't work) since those are probably the lowest prices something can be and still get the GC.

Nope, and I don't think I ever saw any Metroids there when it went on clearance. I'll Keep my eye open and see if I find any $12.48 copies next week though.;)

Neither does Karaoke Revolution. I tried to get Karaoke Revolution for $19.99 (regularly $39.99) and SpongeBob last night, no gift card. Taking them back today!

Got two copies of Metroid Prime Trilogy plus gift card for $50. Also had the sad experience of Spongebob Truth or Square not working for the deal. Still stoked about MPT though

Got 2 copies of MLB The Show 09 for $9.98 each. I entered the DCPI and it said $20 gift card, but when they rang up I didn't get one. Maybe because of the $9.98 price as someone mentioned above.
Well I bought 2 copys of metroid last week and never got anything.
That's why. Try a return/rebuy.
