Tecmo Bowl Throwback League Disbanded

Rage quitters are certainly vile and worthless creatures, but it's also the developer's fault for not anticipating that people would quit. It's so obvious; they're really quite thick for not instituting a quitting penalty from the start.

What's really sad though is this isn't the first game with this problem. There have been several other games that have needed a patch to properly give losses to quitters/dc'ers. I don't know why developers don't think of it. They're giving humanity far too much credit.

I tried the demo tonight and ended up buying it. Super fun game. I'd like to play in the league if there's still room. Just pick a team for me and I'll play it.

For the record - I like this game way more then any version if Madden I've ever played. The simplicity of it is what makes it for me. I don't have nostalgia for it - I never played the original.

You are in if someone else wants in as well. League is at 22 teams and needs to have an even amount of teams.

Hey Hey!!!! -- Can I change to San Diego (1st Choice) or Seattle (2nd Choice) ... I did not realize that you cannot edit your playbook for online games .... I will thank you very much if i can do that ....

Thanks!!!

I had Tampa Bay selected / King of Edmond

So, am I the only one who thinks this completely stinks? I mean, wow. I loved Super Tecmo Bowl for the SNES. But this just isn't right. Color me disappointed.

It's the same game, lol.
Crunch, pick a team other than the Saints and you/starmask are in.

Are left

Pats
Seahawks
Bucs
Cardinals
Rams
I'll take the Patriots.

One thing I would have liked to have seen, though I can live without it, is an in-between mode, with retro graphics, but widescreen. I like the retro graphics, even prefer them, but wish they were widescreen instead of true-to-the-original 4:3. I'd still want the 4:3 retro in there for purity's sake, but widescreen retro as an option. Oh well.

that's my only complaint... widescreen is really a must for me... and this isn't even 4:3, it's like 3:3 really squished.
So yeah I was playing with n8rocker last night and on one play he clearly ran out of bounds but quickly came back in and wasn't ruled out. I wasn't able to challenge the play either which is total BS.

Hey, you won that 2nd game on a missed extra point. Clearly, I was trying to go for a 2 point conversion. WTF Tecmo???

Also, WHERE ARE MY AUDIBLES?!?! What? No hot routes? This game is a piece of shit!

Yeah those are all valid complaints. I was also pissed when I realized I wasn't able to press up on the right stick to truck over people.

I saw someone complaining about no turbo button in the game too, but I think Tecmo was smart copying EA's NHL '09-10 series by not having a turbo button.
You guys realize this is a game from the early nineties right?

It says the release date is 4/27/2010 though. Matt made a good point last night too. Why isn't the yellow first down line in the game? There is just too many things missing. Hopefully they'll add some of the stuff in the patch.
I'd join as the Bucs (or any other available). Loving this game so far!
You are in as long as someone else joins. League is at 24 teams and needs to be kept even for schedules.

We were also being extremely sarcastic and mocking anybody who might complain about the game for not having many "Madden-esque" features. I grew up on this game. I knew what to expect.

The word "throwback" is in the name. It's not rocket science, figuring out that this is a retro title. If you're holding out hope for modern touches in an update (other then, maybe, cosmetic), you're going to be terribly disappointed, and thank goodness for that.

When is the tourney going to start? Sunday?

Just a suggestion: are some teams going to have "byes" each week? I didn't see it mentioned, and I'm just curious. (same thing with playoffs, etc.)

P.S. -- I'm noticing that not too many people on it online, if anybody would like to friend me, I'd be down for a couple of old school games. Thanks, and good luck!

It's going to be a season. Schedule will be done tomorrow after the league signup and posted on here. Suggested game completion is 1-2 games tops per week. That way the season last 2-4 months tops. There aren't any byes because it's an unofficial league due to the fact that Online League is not a feature.

Each participant will be required at the very minimum to play 1 game per week and post the score and result on here. Playoffs will be based on the exact format of the NFL Playoffs as of 1993. 3 Division Winners and 3 Wild Cards. The top two seeds get first round byes. 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5.

Tie breaker rules for seeding in case of same record. 1st Tie breaker is head to head. 2nd tie breaker is point differential. (Team A scored 200 points gave up 150, team b scored 180 and gave up 160 than team A gets the higher seed), 3rd tie breaker is most points for the season.

Tie breaker for the 6th seed. If two teams are tied after the regular season for the last playoff spot than they will play a 1 game playoff for the final spot. 3 or more teams and it's round robin. Same rules applies if the last 2 playoff spots 5 and 6 are tied by 3 teams or more. I just do not know the skill level of the players in the league and there could be a bunch of 8-8 teams. Final playoff teams do not get to back in based on stats.

I think people shied away when the "rage quit = no loss" was discovered. Hopefully when the patch comes people will come back. If not, Tecmo really shot themselves in the foot.

Anybody else wanting to join? Deadline ends when I wake up in the morning so I can start making the schedule and posting it online.
I would join, but I just never know when I'll be on. Sucks.
League only requires 1 game a week minimum and 1 game only takes about 20 minutes tops to play.

I would like to switch to Phoenix if that's an option. Also, what team is the Rams? For that matter, why are we changing the names from what's in the game? It's just confusing.
Im down to join I just bought this game. IICL510II =GT
Looks like we're the last 2 to join. Good luck! :applause:

Rams is the lesser of the LA teams. I think there is a wing on the helmet? And it's near the teams in it's actual division.

How are we handling who gets to be player one? I'm assuming the schedule will have an even mix of "home" and "away" games? Is the "home" team player one? Did we also officially rule on 2D? Seems like there are still a lot of details that need to be hammered out.

Schedule is half way done and should be posted online later today. Without having a full league and using pen/paper and not a computer program it is a schedule nightmare to figure out who gets a home game and who gets the away game for 26 teams. Each team does get 2 games against division opponents so that can be split up home/away. Also when you post the result of the games, mention who was the home away team. That way home/away is being watched so nobody goes over 8. If a team somehow goes over 8 home games, they must play with neutral weather and let the opponent choose if they want the ball first or not, same goes for ot.

These are my preferences:

I don't mind playing in either 2D or 3D. I just enjoy playing.

5 min quarters to keep the game short and simple.

2d/3d should be based on the 'home team"

I was reading that 3d screen was a little bit laggy for player 2, but player 1 didn't notice as much...I read that problem didn't happen in 2d....I could only find one online game, I played as player 2 in 3d and it seemed to have a lag problem-I don't play online much, but I've never had a lag problem before-- I haven't played online as player 1 or in 2d...other folks may want to try out 3d as player 2 before making a decision ...... (it was hard to select my receiver or defensive guy quickly)

Also, my game locked up in the 4th quarter

Sorry for 2 post in a row-I can't seem to edit my post.....

The guy I played said there was a bug and alot of games have been dropped - he was winning 17-0, so I sorta believe him...anyone else have that problem?

People are quiting because you do not get a loss if you quit.

I had this happen to me the other day. I was losing a game and in the 2nd quarter the game just froze and I was playing in 2D.

The game already does that for you. Whoever is listed second, say, G.B. vs S.F., San Fran is the home team. And for 1 player/2 player why not just simplify it and given the above scenario just have GB be player one because they are listed first.

Done and done.
