Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

Doh! Actually had time at work to surf and I stopped checking this thread about the time all the reports of this sale started really coming in. Coulda stopped by some BBs on the way home and I've got vacation next week so I have no cause to stop by the downtown stores since I live in the burbs. Oh well, there's a bunch of BBs and a few GRs nearby.

There's been big clearances before, but usually the games were a little older or less popular.

Wonder if WiiFit dropped. I''ve almost got enough credit @ GS for a Wii. My wife has shown a sudden interest in the Wii and WiiFit and I've got 70 in credit @ BB that I figured would go well with a flipped RR PS3 to get WF. BB does carry WiiFit right? I'm really unfamiliar with which Wii games are good and what good prices are on them for the most part, any suggestions for a Wii newbie? I've got a Ghost Squad from a trade that didn't work out and all my backup plans failed for it. It would be sick if Madworld was slashed.

Unfortunately, most of the good deals in this sale are on games I already got for about the same price or cheaper, but I'll have to find Professor Layton at the very least.

OK, I'm going through my iPhone pics of various BBV shelves. If anyone cares, it seems most of the "Imagine" and "Petz" stuff is $14.99
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue ranged up for $39.99... hmmm

I was able to grab Prof Layton for 9.99 though. Thanks!

Btw, 2 members created 2 separate thread, can we just merge it here?
I'll close those threads and change the title of this one to reflect some of the other deals.

Edit - OK, done. There were actually 3 other threads: one general one, one on Bioshock, and one on Rock Band. You can see now why we like to contain all this in one thread. Otherwise we could have one for Wario Land Shake It, one for FF XII Revenant Wings, one for Rogue Galaxy, etc ;).

Hopefully my thread title change with the new clearance sale date and inclusion of Bioshock will draw more people here instead of making more threads. I assume the presence of the original Rock Band bundle is pretty scarce - I didn't see it at all at 3 stores.

I needs to find more.

Two of the four were actually still ringing up at $9.98 at one store but I played dumb and asked the cashier why they weren't ringing up $4.98 like the other one I purchased & produced the receipt. I then asked for a manager who explained "blah blah...YMMV...Blah blah" & agreed to do a "one-time" price adjustment for me. I actually know of one other Target that has one for $9.98 but was too far off the beaten path for me today. I might try to snag it sometime next week. Hopefully it will drop to $4.98 by then. If it doesn't, I won't do the playing dumb thing again...that was kind of a one time thing for me...just caught up in the moment of good BBV deals I guess.

I got:

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of destruction ($19.99)
Uncharted (19.99)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (29.99)
Motorstorm: pacific rift (29.99)
Professor layton and the curious village ($9.99!!!!)

To the poster saying this was a good sale, I would say this is a GREAT SALE. Better then that gamersday bullcrap at gamestop, where only one game is worth playing (valkyria chronicles). I mean, bioshock dropped from $59.99 to $19.99, what more do you want?!
Okay so, just wondering, with all the mentions of GR, is this sale only at BB's with GR or is it at just BB or what? jw.
If your BB's have any of these games, then it should be good there too. BUT if your store is a franchise, then all bets are off.
If your BB's have any of these games, then it should be good there too. BUT if your store is a franchise, then all bets are off.
yeah, the only bbv near me is a franchisee store, and they always seem clueless to any deals i ask about when i go in there.

but they do have SMG for 25 new

edit: another question I had was how do you go about setting up a trading account with BBV? (and can you do that with franchise stores?)
How can you tell if a BBV is a franchise store?
OP says receipt. Idk how else, I suppose you could just call the store and ask? though that may be a strange question to ask (someone else will probably answer this question better than me but figured i'd give it a shot lol)

we need a solid list of the markdowns on the first page cause its hard to go thru so many pages to see what has dropped & what hasnt, just a thought

Yeah, I already have a list made with most of what I've seen in store and here in the thread. But I'll wait a few days to post (and collect more prices in the mean time).

Basically, though, if it isn't brand new (ie, came out in the last couple of months) it will be on sale to some extent. If you see anything you like at the store just ask them to price check it.

I ask, the employees always seem to know and there is usually some kind of plaque in the store that has the owner's name on it.

Wait, I forgot what page I read it on, but is Saint's Row 2 for PS3 $24.99? My store had a SHITLOAD of them. I'll probably pick up a copy along with Folklore if they still have it.
Holy crap - another GR store? I don't think any regular BBV ever got those 2 in new (and they don't even have Vesperia for rent). I'd buy both in a nanosecond at those prices.
They're pretty much all GR stores around here, although all those $5 games came from a former GR store in a bad area that very few people shop at. Always been a good source of clearance games for me. I may go back and grab the Castlevania DS games there for $9.99.

Depending on how ambitious I am today, I may hit a few more Gamerush stores after my garage sales this morning. There are...Ida know...10 or 15 more I could hit in the area.

Damn these PS3 sales! I don't even own a PS3 yet, but I'm going to own like 4 games for it... Bought VC at GS and now I'll buy R&C, Folklore, and Uncharted...
So, you guys are buying RR and then trading it in at BBV for a huge amount of credit? Whats the deal here?

Damn these PS3 sales! I don't even own a PS3 yet, but I'm going to own like 4 games for it... Bought VC at GS and now I'll buy R&C, Folklore, and Uncharted...
Don't feel bad, I was buying PS3 games before I got a PS3 too.

I just called every BBV within 10 miles of me. NONE HAVE UNCHARTED! How the fuck can this be? Is the used copy on sale too for cheap? I found a few of those for $30

Saw the following 360 games that I don't recall being posted:
Bulletwitch $4.99
Chromehounds $4.99
Dynasty Warriors 6 $19.99
Kameo $9.99
Rock Band $9.99
OK, Gamestop has RR for $19 and it trades in for X amount at BB?
No, it trades in for 19 at BBV on both 360 & PS3. But it sells for less at GS. The PS3 ver is cheaper (around 11 with Edge & coupon) where the 360 one is a litte more.

I picked up a new copy of Guitar Hero III for the 360 for 4.99. I guess YMMV.

They were also selling Rock Band for the 360 for $4.99 as well.
I picked up a new copy of Guitar Hero III for the 360 for 4.99. I guess YMMV.
It's not YMMV.
It's been mentioned numerous times by other people and I picked up a copy for the same price as well.

Mines had:
PS3
Uncharted- $20
Heavenly Sword- $15
Grid- $20
Bioshock- $20
Rock Band- $10
Rock Band 2- $30
GH: World Tour- $30
GH3 + Guitar- $30
GHA + Guitar- $30
MGS4- $20 or $30 can't remember
SC4- $20
DMC4- $15
DMC4 LE- $30
GTA4- $20 or $30 can't remember
Motorstorm PR-$30

Wii
Super Smash Bros Brawl- $25

I picked up Heavenly Sword and Uncharted. Was highly tempted to pick DMC4 and Bioshock, but I'm sure they'll drop further someday. I went mostly to find Assassin's Creed and was highly disappointed to just find a preowned one for $25.

Used price drops are not CONFIRMED yet. Just buy the new (DONT OPEN THEM JUST YET), and if the used prices drop, then return the new and buy the used. 30 day return policy on unopened merchandise.
Is this on NEW games only or have USED games dropped too? (I've dug through the thread and can't find the answer.)
New games only, hoping for a price drop on used Sunday.

These are on new games. The one I went to had a huge sign in front saying "Clearance games." When I went in, there were separate sections of new clearance games for the PS3, 360, and Wii in the front.

I was confused because my local store just put out a bin of clearance games last night, but they were all used. Lots of the titles mentioned here. No updated prices on the bins though.

We have lazy BB employees. :)

Here you guys go, I made a list of based off everyone's post. A few prices maybe wrong, people had different prices, and I may have left out a few games. I only did ps3, 360, and wii.

Ps3:
007 Bond Quantum of Solace 24.99
Army of two 14.99
Assasins creed 9.99

Some stuff not listed above
- Madden 09 (Wii) 29.99
- Far Cry 2 (360) $29.99
- Lips (360) $29.99 (I think)
- Singstar w/mics (PS3) $24.99
- Little Big Planet $49.99 (normal price though)
- Ghost Squad $9.99
- Buzz Junior w/4 remote (Ps2) $9.99
- High School Musical Dance Mat game $14.99

I did pick up the SOCOM bundle for $34.99 and an Olive Garden gift card. Down to $130ish in credit.

My store DID have DMC4 (SE) and Fallout Lunchbox for $39.99. I believe Madden 09 CE was $24.99 also.
Here you guys go, I made a list of based off everyone's post. A few prices maybe wrong, people had different prices, and I may have left out a few games. I only did ps3, 360, and wii.

PLEASE TAKE THIS DOWN.
VERY NICE OF YOU BUT OP JUST WROTE HE WILL POST IN A COUPLE DAYS.
THERE IS A VERY GOOD REASON THE OP HAS NOT POSTED THIS.

:applause:THANKS!

I know i sound nooby, but has anyone seen Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 for the 360? In the list that was posted here it was for PS3, but has anyone seen it for the 360?

Anybody know if they are discounting other stuff like blu-rays as well? I have most of the games that I want, and there are some blu-rays I'd want but I still have a hard time paying $25+ for a blu-ray even with cheap credit.
