So, uh.....

Tough guy professional wrestler who gets his clothes stolen by a goof/ funny guy so he has to walk around in some sort of speedo or thong/ jock strap.

The Condemned was really, really bad. Instead of making the film about Stone Cold, they decided to make it seem like Vinnie Jones was the main character. Really poor storytelling.
Man, I feel bad for Stone Cold.

I just watched The Condemned and it's just about the worst action movie I have ever seen. How could they fuck up an idea of Stone Cold and 10 inmates killing each other so badly?
Jeezus, worse than The Marine? Even the previews for that one couldn't hide the bad dialogue.

Thanks for the show Zen, I'll check that out later, gotta do some work tonight.

1. Tables Are Legal Match: BJ Whitmer vs. Brent Albright
2. ROH
World Tag Team Title Match: Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal vs. Austin Aries & Roderick Strong
3.
ROH World Title Match: Homicide vs. Jimmy Rave
4. Special Exibition: Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Nigel McGuinness & Colt Cabana
5. Grudge Match: Samoa Joe vs. Takeshi Morishima

Great show featuring the debut of Takeshi Morishima in ROH. The entire show is based around establishing the bad blood between the arriving Morishima and veteran Samoa Joe while Nigel McGuiness is taking the Pro Wrestling Noah side of things. A lot of atmosphere in the show and I have to suggest that everyone download it and give it a chance.

Keep your eyes on the tag team title match where Austin Aries misses Matt Sydal on a suicide dive and goes crashing into the barrier head first and seconds later reinjures his ankle and almost breaks his neck in the process. It's three sick spots in the span of 30 seconds and I'm shocked that he isn't paralyzed as I write this.

Cut out were...

1. Delirious vs. Adam Pearce
2. Allison Danger & Sara Del Ray vs. Daizee Haze & Alexa Thatcher
3. Jack Evans vs. Shingo vs. Xavier vs. Jimmy Jacobs

Whenever I upload these shows, I'm always going to try and get each show to around 2 hours, essentially the same length as the PPVs. It allows me to cut out matches that may seem to be filler and overall improve the flow of things. The 4 way match was hard to cut but I had to do it to get the show at a good running time.

Also, I don't think people will have patience to sit for 3 hours. The total show length is 2 hours and 12 minutes. Original length is 2 hours and 52 minutes. You need to download all three parts and unrar them to watch this. Finally, the file I had downloaded has the end of the show missing where Rebecca Bayless finds Jack Evans lying face down in the back.
Zen, your part 1 link is listed as BOTI part one, not FYF.

EDIT: so is part 3; only part 2 is listed as the FYF.
Fixed. I tried to cut and paste over the prior links but it looks like it kept the same address.

Sorry.

If you're up to it, whenever you get a chance to watch these shows, I'd like to see your impressions on them Myke.

I ordered "Driven" and it was by far a better show than "Respect is Earned" and the best PPV I've seen all year long. I felt underwhelmed by "Respect Is Earned" even when I was there live since a lot of the match-ups weren't what I was expecting.

From top to bottom, Driven brings good match after good match after good match. Even the squash matches are done well. The Nigel/Dragon match was awesome and more technical+stiff with a puro overtone that is, for a lack of better expression, heavily Americanized. Great selling by Nigel and Dragon. I'm not going to give spoilers but they absolutely beat the shit out of each other. The last stretch is fantastic, fantastic, fantastic.

Nigel/Dragon feels almost out of place considering the faster paced matches that were held in Chicago, but after a few moments you just forget about it and get into the match. Personally, I feel Dragon/Morishima was a better MOTYC but perhaps my opinion is biased since I saw that live. I really suggest that everyone try to get watch the show on TV with a bunch of friends because it's truly worth your 10$ or a 12 pack in your case Myke. ;)

I'm getting there. I'm trying to find a freeware (Mac) converter so I can either fit it on my iPod and watch it when I'm running, or put it on a flash drive and watch it through my PS3.

xcoax, Punk's Pepsi (and Cobra commander) tats are removed from games and action figures for legal reasons. WWE's put in a knock-off logo for him in his titantron since day one, which COULD be used, but I guess they decided to not risk it, which is smart. It's not like it's going to make any difference in matches, so I don't mind it being removed.

I'm looking forward to FPR a lot. I've loved the SNES, GBA, and DC Firepros that I've played, and I can't wait to make people with it, as the language barrier prevented me from doing that in D, and the GBA creation mode was a little too limiting at times.

Zen, thanks for the Fifth Year Festival - I'm looking forward to seeing Joe-Morishima.
Jeezus, worse than The Marine? Even the previews for that one couldn't hide the bad dialogue.
I've never seen The Marine, I figure I already see John Cena overcome the odds every week for 3 hours, why torture myself even more? ;)

The Condemned is basically what a 70s exploitation film would be if you took everything good out of it. It still has the cringe worthy dialogue and the horribly racist stereotype characters but none of the awesomely creative gore, nudity or humor.

There is something horribly wrong with a movie like this when it's an hour twenty minutes in and you're main character is barely featured let alone has killed anybody. There is also something horribly wrong when on an island all but one of the kills are from the same thing
stupid exploding ankle bracelet which is only an explosion, no raining gore or a red cloud, just an normal explosion

This was also one of the softest R movies I've seen. I could only imagine they were shooting for PG-13 but got the R and decided to throw in some throwaway bad language. This movie could have been drastically improved if they would have pushed the envelope more than a few f bombs and
a throwaway character getting impaled at the beginning

Add in some horrible moments ripped straight from Survivor/Big Brother
I don't want to kill you so join my alliance asian kung-fu man. Join my alliance sassy black woman even though women have fucked me over in the past.
acting/gore effects so bad the Sci-Fi channel would have rejected it and I could only make it an hour twenty in before I finally decided to cut my losses and skip to the end.

The ending basically re-enforced my hatred for this movie
Stone Cold (who turns out to be ex-Black Ops who was captured and thrown in a foreign prison) drives home after being away from home for a year, while Nickleback plays in the background, and the movie fades out on Stone Cold's face.

Seriously, everything that could have gone wrong with this movie went wrong. How WWE Films could fuck up the insanely easy idea of remaking The Running Man only on an island with Stone Cold (as Stone Cold) as the lead man is fucking beyond me. Hell, Stone Cold just being Stone Cold while killing people Commando/Rambo style for 2 hours would have at least bumped this to 6-7.

It's not hard. They do it every Monday night.

They're not known for amazing films...only No Holds Barred (technically not WWE Flims, but a spiritual precursor nonetheless) stands the test of time because it was soooo bad.

See No Evil, The Marine, The Condemned, and Bratz: The Movie (honest to god)...see a pattern here?

Several TNA wrestlers have expressed thoughts about leaving the company as of late. Those wrestlers include Homicide, Hernandez, Sonjay Dutt, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley.

Upper management has asked all of them to stay until the two hour shows start (tapings are being held this Monday and Tuesday), at which point they'll get more television time.

A few of the wrestlers in question are interested in leaving TNA for Japan.

Hmmm....

Yeah, this was my first WWE film. Somebody told me that the violence in See No Evil was pretty up there and it was basically Kane playing himself so I was excited when I saw the R for The Condemned. Stone Cold basically playing himself while hunting down other people on an island for 2 hours. fucking awesome.

"How could it go wrong?" I exclaimed while clicking the 'add to queue' button.

Turns out it could very easily go wrong just....

Make Stone Cold not Stone Cold (he should have played Vinnie Jones' character), focus mainly on the other paper thin characters instead of the only person in the cast worth a damn, have a Zen Davis quality writer write it (looks like he may actually have a chance in the business after all ;)), make it overly preachy, make it idiotic
the characters had/have no problems with filming people killing each other but they'll be damned if a chick gets raped or a guy beaten up before he's killed
, make it 40 minutes too long, turn the gore down to minimum and cover it in horribly cliche moments/music.

Sound like you guys would've like this to be made into DVD and labeled Condemned instead.

Silly Booker T.

What the fuck?

They're turning Smackdown into a soap opera. Apparently they going with the story saying that Teddy Long is in a coma. Yeah, that's what wrestling fans want.

BTW, I didn't catch SD, but did they edit out the "we want wrestling" chants during the wedding?

New ROH Driven Review from 411!

I said Respect is Earned was the third best PPV behind Backlash and WrestleMania, but Driven leaves them all behind, and by a substantial margin. With the exception of the squashes, everything was good to unbelievably fantastic. There was angle advancement with the formation of the Hangman's Three. They set up future shows with Steen & Generico laying out the Briscoes again and Danielson earning a title shot. Plus, it had the big return of Austin Aries to ROH.
Regarding Nigel/Dragon.

I have no problem calling this the Match of the Year. It's certainly the best singles match of the year, eclipsing both Michaels vs. Cena contests, and probably the best match since Cage of Death last year. Maybe the Motor City Machine Guns/Briscoes match will give it a run for its money at the end of the year, but right now, today, this is the best match I've seen all year. Believe the hype!

A wedding? Damn I really haven't watched any wrestling in awhile

Don't worry about the Teddy Long coma, Bobby Lashley will shoot fireworks from his armpits and heal him. If that doesn't work John Cena will fight for the cure. We have nothing to worry about. He's unstoppable.

One of the divas & Smackdown GM getting married. Honestly, I don't know where the hell that story is going.

As for the skits, seems it was heavily edited. Kristal tripped and fell flat on her face walking up the steps, they had to wait a few minutes for the ring bearer to show up. Also as I mentioned, there were "we want wrestling" chants that were cut out.

I was about to fall asleep until the Godfather showed up.

Oh how quickly we forget the classic film, Santa with Muscles, although that probably wasn't a WWE project either, but still...

now im thinking if i should get this supposedly stellar ppv (ive got no idea who any of the guys are) for a measly $10 or get the tna one next month (pretty fond of tna...just not the $30 price) that could possibly suck :???:

What is it with wrestlers and playing santa? Who could forget the classic film Santa's Slay starring none other than Bill Goldberg?

Even if you've never seen ROH before and aren't familiar with any of the talent that wrestlers there, the commentators do a great job helping you get familiar with them. I think for the 10$ you spend you'll be very happy with the product you get.

There is a segment that I haven't really talked about that features Austin Aries, who you may remember as Austin Starr in TNA, where he re-signs with ROH and puts on a great promo where he states, "I am back and proud to be part of a company that respects its fans, that respects its wrestlers, and that respects this business." That really defines the mantra for what ROH is about. There's not one moment that'll have you rolling your eyes as if were watching Pacman in TNA or Hornswaggle in WWE.

The Dragon/Nigel match is about as good as anything you will see anywhere on PPV all year round and worth your $10 all by itself.

It's my ultimate goal to not watch a single second of RAW tonight. The HHH/Carlito cage match sounded interesting for a second, but then I remembered it will last five minutes tops, HHH will squash Carlito, and that'll be about it. If only Santino would be the entire show I might watch.

I can't watch Heat on my Mac; it loads up the preshow fucking commercial as a QT movie and doesn't load the show after that. UGH. I wanna see Shawn Spears and Super Crazy.

Dave Meltzer Star Reviews of Driven:

NRC vs Delirious/Resilience - ***3/4 "basically what the TNA X division should be, came close to being at one point, but somehow stumbled out of."

Claudio Castagnoli vs Matt Sydal - ***1/4 "Crowd was hot. Sweeney is tremendous in his role, reminding me of a young Bobby Heenan in the 70s AWA days."

Naomichi Marufuji vs BJ Whitmer - *** "It's hard to explain but he (Marufuji) carries himself like a superstar, which he didn't a year ago.

Brent Albright vs Pelle Primeau - * "He (Brent) came across strong in the squash as his offensive moves looked killer"

The Briscoes vs Steenerico - ***3/4 "They work well together" "Entertaing from start to finish except for two crazy spots" Meltzer expressed concerned about two crowd bumps into the chairs from Generico and Mark. More of a safety concern for the wrestlers and fans.

Takeshi Morishima vs Jimmy Rave - *1/4 "Good as far as a short match goes"

Bryan Danielson vs Nigel McGuinness - ****1/2 "The early part of the match is impressive with the best matwork on PPV that I've seen this year"

Driven - "a seven match wrestling heavy show that ranks at the top of the PPV shows held this year"
Of course this has nothing to do with wrestling, but man, Melina is hot tonight.
Agreed

NAWrestlingNews.com can report that David Young, CW Anderson and Billy Kidman are all backstage at tonight's TNA tapings.

CW Anderson.

Does anyone want to see the spoilers for the 2 hour Impact? It honestly looks like more of the same. I expect Shelly and company to bail from TNA soon.

*Rhino defeated Black Reign. Raven came to the ring during the match as Rhino was preparing for a gore. Rave pulled Reign down to save him from the gore. Rhino took out Raven and got the pin. Raven got involved after the pin and there were a series of run-ins involving Abyss, Jim Mitchell, Sting and Havok. No Judas Mesias. Sting was left in the ring when TNA champion Kurt Angle appeared on the screen from Sting's son's school and said that if he had a son, he wouldn't miss his football games like Sting is tonight and said he was going to stay there and watch the game, trying to get inside Sting's mind.

*Backstage, Team 3D attacked X-Division Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt as they were being interviewed by Jeremy Borash backstage. 3D dragged them into the ring and said they would keep attacking everyone on the roster until they got a title shot against Team Pacman. Shark Boy tried to make the save but was put on a table. The table collapsed. They hit a Dudley Death Drop through a table on Lethal.

*Gail Kim defeated Jackie Moore. Christy Hemme and Roxxi attack Kim.

*TNA Tag Team champions Team Pacman defeated Team 3D by DQ when VKM attacked Ron Killings. The Steiners come out and 3D leave.

*Eric Young wins a Gauntlet, defeating James Storm.

*Samoa Joe & Junior Fatu & LAX defeated Christian Cage & AJ Styles & Senshi & Christopher Daniels (with Elix Skipper) when Joe pinned Senshi with a muscle buster in about eight minutes in a good match.

No other backstage vignettes aired.

Xplosion:

*Eric Young defeated Jimmy Rave.

*Jay Lethal pinned Havok.

Ah... so I think I've got it.

Mr. McMahon said that "Coach" will decide if Cena is stripped of the title or not tonight, meaning:

1. Vince isn't making it out of this match unscathed.
2. Coach strips Cena of the belt.
3. Cena goes apeshit and takes out Coach.
4. Coach is out temporarily so Regal can comeback smoothly next week.
5. Cena and Orton go to a double 10-count at No Mercy, leaving us without a champion still.
6. Cena vs Orton at Cyber Sunday in the Cell.
7. Cena gets to *win* the title yet again!

So, awful...

Meanwhile, Kennedy comes back and displaces Hornswaggle as Vince's son. Hopefully Mr. Kennedy remembers to crush Hornswaggle off a ladder again.

I just watched The Rock on Leno. Someone remind me, he used to be entertaining, right? I know, different career, different type of entertainment. It annoys me, though, when it's very clear that it's been agreed on beforehand that there won't be any mention of wrestling. Eh, whatever.

Tonight was the first time in years I haven't either watched or recorded Raw and I didn't feel like I was missing a thing. Between the Hornswoggle nonsense, Cena, Cena, Cena and the wrestlers I like either getting buried or not even being on the show at all there isn't a good reason to be watching. Then there's Super H single-handedly destroying the entire tag team division. This was actually the event that made me decide to give up on Raw. I'm down to only Smackdown now for WWE programming and it's definitely not the show it was a year ago. This is the one thing Vince fears more than Congress--someone who will turn off this garbage he calls entertainment.

Thanks for indulging me my rant.

RAW was horrible as usual. That John Cena standoff looked extremely corny. And I'm tired of HHH fighting Carlito already, hopefully after this, it'll stop. No offense to Carlito fans though.

Got a couple minutes into Raw, but as soon as Hornswoggle came out, flipped the channel. Why does he not have the cruiserweight title with him? He's still the champion(who really needs to lose the belt). Flipped back once and all I caught was Hornswoggle chasing Melina and taking her towel. Not exactly entertainment.

As for the impact spoilers, that sounds like a horrible show. Not something to debut for the first 2 hour show.
