The Legacy Wrestling Thread

Now THAT'S how you run an angle! Huzzah!

Also, *ahem*...wow. How 'bout that? The woman had bleached hair and wore a Cena shirt. Amazing.

I can't really blame Jericho for reacting the way he did. He may have gone a little overboard, but a person can only be pushed so far before they start shoving back.

EDIT: Here's another angle:

Those people were absolutely disgusting.

The obnoxious girl repeatedly focused on asking for a photograph, seemingly unable to detect the turmoil... just... :puke:

fucking savages.

the way security just stands there is amazing, its one thing to try and talk to a guy but they were physically trying to remove him from his vehicle, i dont blame him at all for the way he reacted
Jericho went overboard? Pshaw. I don't agree with that in the slightest.
Actually, after seeing from the other angle, I agree. fuck those people, he was totally in the right.

My only complaint is that it wasn't a bigger guy that got to start beating up the fans. If only Khali were as effective a heel as Jericho.

This could have all been prevented by one man.

Canadian wrestling fans are the worst marks, especially when they're loaded on Molson's. Jericho never should have got out of the car though.

It's not that they're wrestling fans, or that they're so into the product they don't separate poorly-written-and-acted fantasy from reality.

It's that they're GROWN ADULTS who are all of the above.

You know why Will Ferrell's "Elf" was funny? Because adults don't act like Will Ferrell's character did.

Regardless, WWE needs to be extremely proactive about getting the story out there. If it was anyone else, it wouldn't be great, but this is worse since it's the guy who got national exposure only a week or two ago (Sidenote: bet Rourke is happy with his choice now).

I'm worried that this could easily spin out of control as 'Wrestler pummels female fan!', without any real coverage as to WHY. From the descriptions and videos, it's pretty clear that Jericho didn't go off without provocation. Unfortunately, that doesn't make a great story, so WWE needs to get off thier ass and put it out there themselves.

So, yeah, I really hope these ignorant Canadian fucks didn't screw up the next few months for Jericho.

A good point. Given the coverage of Christian Bale's temper tantrum in a way that (1) acted like it was something that should matter to the public and (2) framed in a way that it was nobody's fault but Bale's shows that Jericho could be in a world of trouble. I hate to think that, but it is the way the salacious celebrity horseshit media works.

*AND* people eat that shit up. I can't get many people to talk/participate in my classes, mainly because I don't think they read or study. BUT, when I ask "who was busted for getting high last weekend," everybody chimed in to tell me it was Michael Phelps. This stuff is widespread and contagious nonsense. It could easily become a big deal.

(OTOH, they could use it to make Jericho the biggest heel in Canada since HBK).

I back Jericho 100%. Why in the fuck are they dumb fans RUNNING in front of his car, pounding on it, and harassing him? Then they surround his car and he can't get away? He had every right to do what he did. He didn't cross any line. Now did he hit the chick or push her away? Either way, it's not like it's a "yo I beat my wife" sort of angle.

I don't blame him at all for his actions. When I was younger, I waited outside a show for some guys to come out once.. they came out and waved, some signed a few autographs, and that was that. It's embarrassing to see fans act like this.

The chick and her boyfriend were clearly drunk, stoned, or both and in the wrong. Once the girl reached her hand into Jericho's car, he was totally justified in bashing her oblivious Canadian brains in.

In the wrong? Sure. Prove your case that they were drunk or otherwise intoxicated. I don't buy it, because people don't need to be messed up to act like buffoons.

I agree 100%.

Also, the second a woman wants to act like a man she deserves to be treated as such.

WWE released this statement to TMZ regarding the incident:

"After leaving a live event in Victoria, British Columbia on Saturday evening, Chris Jericho's car was attacked by a mob when he was stopped at a stop sign. Unable to proceed, Chris Jericho exited his car to ask the crowd to clear a path so he could continue through the intersection. A man and a woman physically and verbally assaulted Mr. Jericho. Arena and WWE security arrived to establish enough order to allow Mr. Jericho to re-enter his vehicle and depart. The local police arrived minutes later. Mr. Jericho was unharmed in the incident. The WWE is working with local authorities who are investigating the incident to identify the man and woman who fled the scene."

see why mobs are bad. That went bad quick. If I was him I'd panicked too. Security was like " Im not getting hit by this guy" we'll let god sort em out.

Wow and wow..... I got a bad feeling someone such as TMZ is going to edit the cell phone footage to make Jericho look bad in all of this (for ratings of course).

TMZ is exactly who I had in mind when I read 007's point about this being picked up quickly by the media and turning Jericho into a villain.

I'll be shocked if most of the media doesn't try to make Jericho out to be the bad guy here.

"Wrestler attacks female fan, spits in her face, next on Fox News."

I'm glad Jericho tried to defend himself, and this whole incident reminds me of some of the stories about '80s heels, although nowhere near that level as far as the danger involved (which is a good thing). I've seen Jericho take some shit for not just staying in his car during this, and I think it's a good thing he didn't, because if he did, at least one of the fans would have claimed that he "hit" them with his car, and by getting out, he eliminated that from possibly happening.

Now Jericho's being accused of saying something racist to her boyfriend.

Canadian news website TimesColonist.com has coverage of Chris Jericho's altercation with fans outside yesterday's Raw brand house show in Victoria, British Columbia.
On how the entire ordeal instigated, Jericho is being accused of directing a racial comment towards the boyfriend of the female fan he attacked, who is of South Asian descent.
20-year-old Ashley Levey said the altercation began when her boyfriend, Kalen Johl, started heckling Jericho as he was driving through the parking lot. The female fan said Jericho got out of his vehicle and made a derogatory comment towards Johl. Levey said Jericho pushed her boyfriend first. She then called Jericho a racist, who then spit and punched her in response.
According to another witness, Jericho spit in the woman's face after she approached his white Chevy Tahoe. The witness said the female fan started hitting Jericho and he turned around and punched her in the face.
"I was really surprised that a pro wrestler would do that with everyone watching," witness Darshan Stevens said. "And hit a girl, what are you thinking?"
According to the story, both Levey and Johl were later arrested but released without charge.

Next we'll probably hear that she's suing WWE and Jericho because she received some ridiculous physical and mental injuries from the incident...

Racist? Seems like they're just trying to pile up the bullshit against Jericho. Is there proof of it?

No proof, just the woman and her boyfriend's "recollection" of what happened. I think 2 other witnesses told what happened and they never mentioned any racial remark. Their "recollection" conveniently left out the part where she reached out and tried to grab/hit Jericho when he was getting back into his car.

Probably a bunch of shit.

Anyone watching the TNA ppv? Opening match was great. Way better than any WWE opening match in a long, long time.

Omg Steiner Screwdriver!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF... I finally see him execute this move.. i had been wondering ever since WCW revenge came out about that move..

The PPV has been great. Way better than what WWE has been offering in the PPV department lately.

Shit.... I completely forgot about the TNA PPV tonight since I've been catching up on "Smallville."

... not that it matters since we all know these days TNA booking is so forgetable that by next week nobody will remember who wrestled who on the PPV let alone there was a PPV.
Sting won the main event and retained the TNA World Title.
How overbooked was it? Aside from putting two undeserving tag-team mid-card guys in there, I mean.

I only caught the last few minutes of it so I can't comment. It didn't seem too overbooked from what I saw... but given that the crowd didn't give a shit and was sitting on their hands (literaly) then that's not a good sign.

I feel really bad for anyone who actually shelled out money for that. Absolutely nothing of note happened whatsoever, and while the wrestling may have been decent, there was no real drama or sense of importance on anything that happened.

Not only did I not know there was a TNA PPV. I didn't even know Sting was champion. I thought Angle & JJ were feuding over the strap or something.

That PPV was better than anything WWE has put out for a while. Main event was kind of weak, but everything else was solid. Booker T was hilarious.
