The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's Anime/Manga Topic
You quoted it and got preachy about it, so you must've had some problem with it.
Man, what? "Pulling up IE will just let them think it's acceptable to launch without firefox support in the future, though." That's preachy? Seems to me that preachy is more along the lines of getting upset that people don't want to jump through hoops to view your pet series.
FMA ch61 is finally out (the scanslaters had the nerve to go on with their real lives while we were waiting:hot:)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the pass to DL FMA ch61 is rather tricky. If you can't figure it out, its

Woot, finally. The 1 month a chapter kills me. Though its nice that each chapter is pretty long, Arakawa keeps adding more and more back story and adding more plot lines. Not that im complaining, but if FMA's gonna end up like One Piece/Inuyasha, i hope they release more than 1 chapter a month.
btw, is anyone else following Ouran high School Host Club? funny ass anime, its great fun to watch, makes me laugh aloud every episode.
Ditto. I stayed away because it seemed like one of those gay-pretty-boy anime (and it is) but it's so damn funny I changed my mind.

Yeah, I'm watching Ouran myself. I thought it would be some lame ass generic shojo, but it's very refreshing with its constant humor and likeable characters.

Hi.

I have this friend who just finished watching the Prince of Tennis and enjoyed it. However, since he has no life, he is interested in watching another series. He's heard Naruto and Bleach are good but he doesn't know where to start. Any ideas what's a good anime to watch (series)? He would appreciate it. Please PM me with any, er, "resources" and I'll be glad to forward it to him.

Bye.

Depends on what he likes. Does he like only sports anime? Does he like action? We needs more info, sirrah!

He isn't sure. He says he saw a bit of Naruto and he likes hit but he doesnt like watching it on Youboobs because quality is vagina.

Oh yeah btw I hate anime, you know. _>

Bastard. Anyway, if he like naruto & bleach, I'll send you a pm for places to go. Hope he knows how to use bittorrent.

Oh yes he is very capable of downloading. He's just intimidated by the 8.3 GB episode packs they come in. I... he is looking for an alternative.

Tell him to use Azureus as it allows you to pick & choose which file you wanna get.
He doesn't use Azureus because it's such a RAM hog. Instead he's using uTorrent, which is taking up a paltry sum on 2 MB. ;)
True. Well, I dunno what to tell ya. I don't know if uTorrent gives you that capability but that's why I use Azureus - so I can pick & choose.

Well speaking of Naruto and Bleach, both mangas for this week were pretty good
Naruto's all about Asuma prob a tribute before he kicks the bucket, that and double chakra types, and Bleach finally has some real vizard action, maybe Ichi will get his shit together now.

It depends on what he's looking for. Naruto and Bleach are good action shows, but are a little to get off the ground. Naruto starts off a little slow, but gets good during the Chuunin exam 20-30 episodes in. Bleach was a slow start to me, with things picking up, for me, about 50 episodes in. Both are very good series (as long as you avoid the filler that's been going on since the fall in Naruto, though that's not for 140 episodes in). For other action series, there's Hunter x Hunter, Beet the Vandel Hunter, One Piece, and probably some other stuff. If he wants to see another sports series, there's Whistle, which covers soccer, and Eyeshield 21, which covers football. If he'd like to see comedy, there's Yakitate!! Japan, which is about bread making and is very funny.

Gotwoot.net's good for Naruto and animesuki.com can help you find most of the rest, though Bleach (yhbt.mine.nu) and One Piece (kaizoku-fansubs.com) can be found elsewhere.

Edit: Seems like I took too long. :whistle2:(

umm where exactly did you find 61, cause I cant seem to find it scanalated

Yea, Zomg seem to be the only group doing it now a days.

*looks at Ikohn's sig* Poor Kei... Though you know theyre gonna bring him back. Sucks we gotta wait 4 more months til the new series comes out.

yeah, hopefully its every week and it doesnt focus on Katou and they bring Kei back ASAP, though there is always the chance that he is dead for good, which makes me verrry sad :(

I have to say, hot damn was that an awesome episode of Eureka Seven. For the first time in a long time, Renton was actually badass. That was one of the cooler action scenes in the show.

I only saw the last half, but it was cool.

Go Renton! Man I missed the first few episodes. Does anyone know if cartoonnetwork bought the whole series or just the first episodes.

Cartoon Network doesn't have the series at all. Adult Swim has the whole series to air, though it moves to 12:30 on August 19 after two weeks off due to the third Inuyasha (which will probably be fucked up again ) and the day that the contest winner gets to choose his own schedule.
Largely, it's a good cast. Vash fits as Ichigo, Hinata fits as Inoue, Shino fits as Ishida, Fujiko (Lupin) fits as Rukia, Sakura fits as Karin, and I can't really remember the names of the rest of the Ichigo so I can't really tell if they fit or not. I can't wait for Sept. 9. :)
I wasn't sure about Johnny as Ichigo till I remembered Kiba's voice in Wolf's Rain, which I think fits perfectly as Ichigo, so I love that. ANd I absolutely love Wendee Lee as Tatsuki and Stephanie Sheh as Orihime. Quite frankly, I'm really looking forward to the dub, as this is one of the better casts I've seen put together. The only thing that'll make it better is Steve Blum and Crispin Freeman, but I'm not sure if they were able to do anything since it had something to do with the union, but if they do show up, they'd be much better suited to the Soul Society arc, as some of the shinigami, especially Blum as Kenpachi.

EDIT: I would have loved if they got Yuri Lowenthal to do Ishida's voice solely cause I could continue to laugh about the fact that even in the English version, Ishida and Sasuke have the same voice.

I could've sworn I heard an A-Team reference in Kino's Journey in episode 3, where a soldier confronts Kino in the woods near a town they plan to destroy because of a prophecy about the world ending. He makes the remark, "I love it when a plan comes together" in a similar tone to the A-Team member that always says it. I was not expecting that.

*gasp* American reference in anime?!?!

If you want American references you should watch the dub of Ghost Stories...

I'm not interested in Ghost Stories. I was just surprised that this anime had the reference since it doesn't seem like that type of anime.

I watched a trailer for the show last night and was not interested at all. I know what the show is about and the changes made in the dub, so I know what I'm missing.
I watched a trailer for the show last night and was not interested at all. So a reference to a western show within it shouldn't be surprising.

Black Lagoon continues to impress me w/ both its harsh anarchic philosophy as well as it great production values. Whoever their animator was should be headhunted for shows like the current Naruto/Bleach as they seem to be cutting corners for what's been a long while. I especially liked the current eps. I'm watching (9) for its homage to the Terminator movies (btw, Frisky, they also made a direct reference to Terminator so you can add this series for anime that uses American pop culture).

Inukami looks good but so far lacks substance. It's about a dog spirit that fell in love w/ her master but he's a perv. Ditto for Tonagura! except it's just your run-of-the-mill childhood friend dreams of boy that went away but comes back... only he's a perv.

Magical Pokaan has a lot of fan-service but has a certain charm I would call 'cute' so it's watchable but I wouldn't save it.

NANA is about 2 girls w/ the same name & end up living together and it's their everyday struggles. I've only seen the 1st eps. & while girl-oriented, the storyline looks like it has depth and thus generates interest in me.

My underrated pick right now still remains Ouran Host Club. Despite its bishie-ness it's a fun high school comedy.

Ahh, I have no idea what Heat Vision or Jack is, so I assumed the "Why not?" was refering to Ghost Stories since it didn't sound quite right when applied to Kino's Journey.

:whistle2:s Since when am I making a list about references? I only mentioned it because it seemed to come from nowhere in a show that has very little pop culture references.

Lists are serious business. Don't ever joke about them again. :bomb:

In case anyone's interested, looks like another Bleach game, this one for the PS2.

http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/bleach/blade/

Not much shown so far but it looks like it could be interesting. Hopefully they add more characters.

As for Black Lagoon...I really need to get back to watching that. I got to 4 or 5 and then got distracted by Utawarerumono. Another anime I just downloaded some of to check out is Zero no Tsukaima. No clue if it's any good, but I've been told it's similar to Shakugan no Shana meets Harry Potter, so that sounds interesting enough for me.

Just because it didnt seem like the kind of series to make a reference doesnt mean much.

Hell, Samurai Champloo manga made John Travolta - Saturday Night Fever references of all things...

I could see Samurai Champloo making references since the series doesn't always take itself seriously, like the baseball episode. I'll stop posting on the subject and start ripping the show a new one. :hot:
Ok, I am going to start watching Fighting Beauty Wulong. Anyone else seen it?
I only watched the first episode and it seemed rather meh, but who knows, it may get better later on. It reminded me a bit too much of Ikkitousen, which isn't a real good thing.
