The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's Anime/Manga Topic
This is reminding me how much I love FLCL. I really need to buy this on DVD some day, all three 30 dollar DVDs.
Two episodes per DVD? What is this, Japan?!

Using DVD's instead of Torrents? What is this, 2001?

this FLCL marathon is great! glad I got sick today :p

I might have to get the DVDs too...I like the localization. they reference the Van Halen Crystal Pepsi commercials. fucking rad!

It's too bad this guy picked out the two worst Cowboy Bebop episodes instead of the best ones (Heavy Metal Queen, Mushroom Samba, or any with Ed as a main character). I can't recall which episodes were picked for the other four shows.

At least FLCL gives me a reason to watch for now.

Did you just call Real Folk Blues Part 2 one of the two worst Bebop episodes? I knew there was something wrong with you..

Yeah, but I've come to realize you hate pretty much everything. ;)
I can forgive pronunciations since they're American VAs but what peeves me is the voices themselves. When they can't emulate the voice of the original VA, it changes the character's personality somewhat. Take Sakuno for instance. In the Japanese version, she's this shy, introverted girl who has a crush on Ryoma. In the US version, she seems like a whiny lil bitch who needs to get 5 across the eyes... and that's putting it mildly. Even Naruto's American VA was able to get the personality of Naruto right - childish & mischievious.
Naruto's voice is probably the best Jap->Eng transition I've heard.

I still don't think it's hard to say Tez-Kah in comparison to Teh-ZOO-Kah.

i was in baltimore this past weekend, and there was apparently a Otacon(Anime Convention) going on. I always felt like a pretty big dork when it came to Anime/Manga, well these people put me in my place. I barely recognized most of the people cept for Naruto and Bleach. Interesting though, I have never seen so many fake oversized swords in my life.

It's a little awkward to hear Tezuka's name in the dub, but I can't really get over the fact that all of the regulars sound the same. They don't have much of a personality showing from their voice like it does in the Japanese dub. I'll get the DVD's for the Japanese dub, definitely not for the English dub.

I guess, but than again when you think about it a lot of Americans have somewhat similar voices. Weren't a lot of the Jap. regulars voiced by women? I know for a fact Fuji's voice is a huge change: girly -> cowboy
new naruto volume cover in japan(spoilerish)
I still don't like how dumpish they made Hinata look. It seems like she's the ugly swanling. Pretty when she was young but then uglied out as she got older.

How old are they supposed to be right there?
Any good news about the Naruto fillers?
well I stole hold on to my belief that 200 will start it up again, and there is only info to 199, so as soon as I find out and am dissapointed, I will let everyone know
Inuyasha movie on Adult Swim if anyone is interested.
I'm watching due to lack of anything better to do. I like that it's not all stretched out or whatever was wrong last Inuyasha movie. I figure I'll stick through this one cause it was the movie I was sorta interested in seeing cause it apparently has an awesome Sesshomaru/Inuyasha fight.

Sounds good to me. I'm a fan of the show so I am interested anyway. I need to find a tape to record the second showing.

The movie has noticably different animation, particularly in the characters, is that kind of throwing anyone else off? Not that I really like Inuyasha anyways, drags on too much like Dragonball did, seems like they weren't even trying down the line in the series.

It seems to have the typical "OVA looks a million times greater than the series" syndrome. I personally love the animation of this movie so far.

I think the characters look slightly worse, but that's probably because I'm not used to it. I do think the animation as a whole seems to be more polished and smooth, particularly the effects, fighting, and even background.
I like it. The art is noticably different but overall is good. It's most noticable with Miroku IMO.
It's the facial features, especially the noses. The style reminds me a bit of Escaflowne the series.
FMA ch 62 is out, get it at zomgfta.com

note: the Ishbal flashbacks are finally over
whats the password?
whats the password and username?
The username is always fmanga, I think. The password is the name of Freddie Mercury's band.
whats the password?
when you're on the DL page, under all the FMA chapters, there'll be a link that says "Huh? Password?"

It'll link you to the clue (scroll al the way down), the username, like jmcc said, is fmanga

I'm assuming you got it from jmcc's hint, but I was talking about on the project page, not the front page. My bad for being unclear.

ahh thanx

Nice. I finally caught up on the past three chapters of FMA manga that I fell behind on. Hot damn is Basque Grand a badass in the manga. When he just shot the dick commanding officer out on the field, it was great, as was Maes reaction. And it was interesting to see how they changed who killed Winry's parents here. And Kimbley, if he wasn't certifiably insane in the anime, has made it there in the manga. When he decided it was a good idea to eat the Philosopher's Stone, I was just like "Ummm....That's just crazy." Overall, it'll be interesting to see where they go next from 62. I just hope Riza stays important, since she's still probably my favorite character, though Greed-Ling is up there.
Sources indicate that Kakashi Gaiden will begin on episode 200 of the Naruto anime.

Finally!
That's great news. I assume none of the past 38 episodes or so are worth watching, correct?

Kimbley is a badass in the manga. Someone brought up an interesting point, we dont know who Pride is, Kimbley swallowed a "phillosophers stone"(i use quotes because its not the true stone), which is the nucleus for each homunculus, and Envy seemed to praise Kimbley at the end there.

Would be kinda badass if he was Pride, his ego does seem to fit the role pretty well. Though personally i was hoping that it would match Hagaren Ocean's "Pride" , which would make sense considering who the homunculus leader looks like (though he didnt recognize Edward, so i doubt that Pride is gonna be him).

hate to be the bearer of bad news but:

Jpn. 09/13/06 Episode 200: "Working Hard on Active Duty, The Strongest Helper"

Jpn. 09/20/06 Episode 201: "Multiple Traps, Countdown to Collapse"

i really have no idea when this shit is goin to end, you would think someone in Japan would know when it would be startin up already.
