The Official Fry's Clearance Thread

Update 11/01/09: I have been filtering out a lot of games that do not exist on the website anymore and removed many of the games that have jumped up to a normal price again. Many of the clearance games are starting to make their way out of Fry's system and some are making them back in but at a more standard price, for example $19.80 now. So if you don't see a clearance game on this list but you have seen it before, and if you go to the store and see it marked up at a much higher price now, it would be appreciated if you can post your finds and let me know. I am just trying to get an idea how the pattern works because as of right now, it is very inconsistent, and every little bit of help is great. Thanks everybody

Update 10/23/09: Lot's of the clearance games are beginning to get phased off the website in order to make room for the upcoming games coming in for the holiday season. I will leave them on the list for the time being, and if they still aren't there next week, I'll start taking off games that aren't listed anymore to keep the list cleaner.

After getting the okay from Guinaevere, I present to everyone the official Fry's clearance thread.

I just wanted to thank sinksand as well as others who put forth the work the previous Fry's clearance thread. Thanks everybody.

This list is just a preliminary list. Most of the games that I picked out from the list, the majority of them are listed on the website. There are also many games that are not listed on the website that I have seen in stores that are also on this list, so if you find a game on your receipt you got from Fry's that was on clearance and it's not on this list, it would be appreciated if you can post it here (and the locations for the benefits of fellow CAGs),and I will do my best to update the list.

You may also notice that this list does not include most of the previous gen console games yet nor does this list include pc games or accessories yet, so I will try and get them up as soon as possible.

Yes, precisely. For people complaining that they don't have a Frys near them, its not some utopian CAG paradise store where you walk in the door and see hundreds of cheap SOCOM bundles crammed on the shelves. Its all extreme YMMV finding this stuff in the first place. SOCOM and Time Crisis all went through a series of markdowns, and Frys carefully labels everything correctly, so I'm pretty sure 98% of all copies disappeared during earlier markdowns.

the product has to be in stock for BB to match it for you and generally BB will call over to Fry's to check price and stock anyways, so all signs point to no.

I am of the skeptical mind that no retailer will price match a clearance price. Even if they would price match clearance, you would need an advertisement to show the price, correct? And your local Fry's would have to have at least one of the Socom bundles in stock for BB to do the price match. I just dont see it happening.

I pretty much have all mine sealed but this wouldn't fly at my Frys. I did try to return a few hours later to see if they put them back out (as one time they put them out almost immediately while I was still shopping) but no dice...

Also, someone pretty much wiped them out since the last time I was there so there's little point in going back much any more.

At my stores each section has their own clearance area at the end of the aisle. So, while there's not a general clearance section, there is a DS clearance area in the DS aisle, a 360 clearance area in the 360 aisle, etc.

I think I've been to stores that had the games all mixed in, but in that case they were always specially marked with big red clearance labels hanging off the shelf so they were pretty hard to miss.

Sometimes my Fry's just lumps a bunch of crap in a shopping cart near the section being clearanced.

Meh, I went to Manhattan Beach, and none of the prices online, for the very few items on that list that they still have in store, were any good in store. Most of the games for $1.xx-5.xx etc. were $15.xx-19.xx in store, and rang up at those prices.

They refused to match their own online price even with the printouts of their product pages as well as verification on their own web browsers. Basically they told me to order the games online for store pick-up. I should have just done that on one of their own machines, LOL.

Jeanne D'Arc doesn't even seem to be in the system anymore.

I took a quick look at PS2 RPGs online, and Atelier Iris 3 is listed at 4.70

I'm curious which games you're talking about. I have bought several clearance games from the MB location that were mismarked and they came up with the on-line prices when they scanned them.

at my local fry's i found Mario Super Sluggers for Wii, it was marked 29.xx, and rang up 20.80. it was the last copy at burbank frys

I think we should leave them on the master list, at least until they're completely out of Fry's online database too. The info is still useful for buyers eligible for price adjustments, and it's going to pretty difficult for us to confirm that any game is completely out of stock at EVERY Fry's in the country anyway.

I've also bought a few clearance games at the MB store over the past couple of months and have never run into any discrepancy between online and store pricing. Examples?
