Target clearance is YMMV
Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction. Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 70% or 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price and DCPI # in RED!!!

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

I can tolerate a lot of ignorance, mostly because I show quite a bit myself (at times). It just seems like useless information if people can't get those good deals anymore because it's a few months or weeks old. That's like me telling people I bought Saints Row 3 for $20 from Jane Doe last week, but it required me washing her car for the discount. Nobody fucking cares unless they can get it for that price NOW.

Wait. You were from my area originally? I thought you were once a local, but I wasn't 100% sure.

Yeah. I rarely really ignore people but I do kinda feel that the prior deals being mentioned gives people perspective on how cheap certain games have been. While it does suck that they can no longer get in on those deals, at least it gives them a heads up to keep an eye out for another great deal like that.

I see your viewpoint and it does help in some ways, but only if they don't need a coupon or if the deal is completely far-fetched and impossible anymore. Like the Dead Island glitch at Best Buy (which I sadly missed out on by a day due to being too lazy to drive to the store lol). Yeah, Dead Island was available for $5-ish at one point, but that doesn't help us out now and it likely won't be that price any time soon, barring an amazing Gamefly deal or Target clearance cycle (and immaculate find, because you know games don't hit below $7.48 often) .. the information would just be utterly useless/pointless.

I agree with IATCG and do the same thing. I like to know the cheapest a game has ever been. I wish there was a databse that compliled that info. Right now I save weekly ads from the newspaper if there is a low price advertised, so I remember when I go to buy the game 1-2 years down the road what the lowest adv price was. Maybe a little OCD...

Do you know about camelcamelcamel.com? It comes close since Amazon seems to pricematch everything. The super great deals are unrealistic to expect again, which is why I brought up the Catherine Love Is Over example. If someone is wondering whether say, $40 for that is a good deal, telling them it was $28 at one point isn't helpful is it?

Or how about Halo Reach LE for $8? That's not gonna happen again. If IATCG wants to actually help people, he'd actually post things that are reproduce-able or has more than a snowball's chance in hell. He just likes to brag.

Yeah, I try not to give the extremes or used games too much attention. I don't know why I do it and I try not to. I think it started years ago when I would track stocks as a kid, then when I started on ebay in the late 90s, I would track lowest sold prices to set my buy price, and now I am telling a personal story that means nothing to anyone but me...MY GOD The transformation has begun!!!!! :shock::whistle2:#:whistle2:&:puke::???::whistle2:x:whistle2:o:):D:lol::booty:

hahahah. But seriously, no need to keep a database, just use camelcamelcamel. It's not 100% correct since often they don't keep track of lightning deals but if you know what the lowest price was on amazon over history, you're about 99% the way there on figuring out what to buy a game at. In a way, it's perfect because it ignores the outliers of price mistakes/one time only deals/ coupon deals.

It's partially that it's from IATCG but mostly because it's unhelpful and just confuses people. You know, I picked up Dead Space from Target clearance for $4.98 once.... But if I want to buy DS today and I saw it for $10, that's a damn good deal.

I have been to 4 different Targets nearby but not able to find the deals on Dark Souls and Fallout NV Ultimate Edition. To widen the search radius would mean a lot of time commitment so wanted to clarify a few things. Please let me know regarding the following and pardon me if they have been discussed:

1. If an item is Limited Availability in a Target, does it correlate to the likelihood of it being in clearance?
2. I know calling Electronics is a bust. Any other way of knowing the price of an item at target (without visiting OR calling Customer service)?

Nope. I have one Target that has a single copy of Portal 2 that's not on clearance and another that has a bunch of copies.... not on clearance either.

I posted this earlier in the thread, but if you call and DO NOT ask for electronics .. just ask the operator to do a price check for you, and that you have a DPCI, they will likely just type it in and tell you what the price is / how many the PDA says they have. Target backroom stock is not always 100% correct as it can be effed up by human error, so if they have 2 or less you are going at your own risk (which is what Limited Availability means, 2 or less in my experience).

Calling Target this way will not alert any electronics employees to hoard (as you all will have plenty of time to adjust your tin foil hats).

Everyone uses the same PDA / system at that particular store, so the Operator's price will be the same as the cashiers or the electronics guy, or even the clothing dept. Any Target employee can look up the DPCI for you, regardless of the department they are in. All the information will be the same.

Went out looking for the White Pokemon DSi Bundle, no luck.

Got really lucky and managed to get a :360: ME3 N7 Collector's Edition for $39.98. Was quite surprised to find that it was behind the case of one of the other games. It still looked brand new so will see if all the contents are intact.

If you go to the Target website search for your item and click the 'see item details' link it will give you the DPCI

Dark Souls Xbox 360 - not on clearance to the best of my knowledge, only PS3 version on clearance which is 207-24-0621 X360 is 207-22-0621

Fallout NV ult edition Xbox 360 - no idea, will check the OP or someone else can provide if not there. Only found the PC version online 241-25-6374
 
I scored a metallic rose DSiXL bundled with Mario vs DK for $85... wasn't really in the market for another Nintendo handheld but I felt like I just couldn't pass on that price.

Wise or just an overly compulsive move? What should I do with this DSiXL?

When practically everyone was getting SSFIV for $10 it was $40 at my store. When alpha protocol was $9? Still $50 at my store.

and a lot of the PS3 controllers (Blue) with the Uncharted 1 and 2 pack for $29.98.
 
If anyone is interested in a pga tour 13 masters collectors edition I have it for ps3.. grabbed a couple before their price change. Pm me. I'm not gonna rape you with the price but I'm gonna include shipping, tax and a little compensation for me. So don't pm me if you're expecting it for $35.

Good luck; I was offering mine for $45/shipped. Game + tax was $38, plus $5 for shipping/gas/time, and $2 to cover PayPal fees/misc. I didn't get a single bite, and every offer was for less than $40. I ended up just returning them.
 
I went to my local Target on my lunch break to browse the clearence racks -one of my favorite hobbies- and I came across (what I thought was) a very great find.

They had a single Metallic Rose DSiXL bundle which included a Mario vs Donkey Kong game in the case... but there wasn't any visible price. I called an associate over and had them scan it - they couldn't find the item as it wasn't supposed to be for sale in stores... so I was sent to the customer service counter.

After some research, they discovered it was an online-only item, but still couldn't find a price. Then, she scanned it at another terminal, and reacted with a very puzzled look. She scanned it again, and again, then she called her manager over to show him the result. "Yeah, that's the price.", he very quickly responded, $84.98.

Ummmm, ok. I'll take it! I didn't know what it was worth, but I knew it was worth much more than $85. I go back to my office and start doing some research of my own.

Wow. This thing isn't less than $160 anywhere... without the game. What's more, most places don't even carry it any more... a collectors item, perhaps?

So, now I am conflicted. What do I do with this thing? I can return it for a full refund, trade it to Gamestop for a slight profit in store credit, attempt to sell it on Amazon or eBay for more than double what I paid for it, give it to someone as a present, or put it in the vault for now... hoping it'll increase in value.

So... what would you do?

That's pretty much a given. Does anyone know how rare this color was? It appears like it had a very short period of time where it was readily available...

if you want a ds to play, I'd say play it. Otherwise go eBay or amazon.

I have a DSi already, and my wife has a Lite... don't think she would be interested in the XL, but we'll see.

So, you don't think it's worth just holding on to then, eh?
