Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Any point you think that you're making is nonsensical. Please tell me how it is "cheating" to put an item aside you'd like to buy after your shift? How on earth does this affect your life any differently than if the item had simply been purchased already? Not only that, but you believe it is such a heinous action to do such a thing, that you would report an employee and possibly get them fired. If you honestly believe that someone should lose their job because they wanted a game for themselves, then you're simply a bad person.

You're a guy looking for video game deals who feels that an employee getting first dibs is somehow an insult to you as a customer. Get over it.

An employee has the natural advantage of intimate inventory knowledge for hours at a time (while getting paid for it.) He/she has no business interfering in business during company hours, they should not hide clearance goods. They shouldn't set aside the last sale item for a friend. None of this should happen and honestly if you're a good business proprietor that is a reason for firing/dismissal.

That said, does it happen? Sure it does. But the natural knowledge of inventory should be advantage enough. Once an employee's shift ends, everything is fair game and if those clearance SW figures are still there by all means they should grab them. But if they have told 4 different people during their shift that they are all sold out of that special game, all the while holding the last copy for themselves, that's messed up.

Anyone 'looking for deals' is a customer and absolutely shouldn't 'get over it.' You should do your job and quit hiding inventory.
Target on Garneys Ferry (Columbia SC) had iron man and few other PSP games, Beatles 360 and other less stellar games but nothing great or super cheap.

Did have like all Targets in Columbia SC area alot of Clothes clearanced...
Yeah, I stopped in that one today after asking you that earlier. I did see, over in the new release Blu Rays, a copy of Bayonetta clearanced down to $41.something...

I drove by the one on Two-Notch, but didn't go in. I didn't really even know there was of them there, but I don't like Two-Notch area and I was on the way to Sandhill, so whatevs.

This is correct. I have stayed out of the argument till this point, but Wal-Mart actually has a policy stating what you wrote above. I think the 'employees should get to buy up clearance stuff, since they only make minimum wage' justification others are stating is ridiculous.

I was at Target and I saw Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Bundle on clearance. I would have taken a pic of the DPCI to share here but my phone was having issues.

Maybe somebody else can fill the void.

EDIT: it was for the Wii
No electronic/video game clearance tonight. Guess it's back to the light stage, just like it was with the plastic prisons.
Your store no longer has plastic prisons?

I honestly don't remember, this was my first time seeing it and I was in a hurry. If I get a chance I'll go back its not a Target near me but one near my work.

There is a Target store in Fontana, CA off of Valley, I have never seen so many security devices on so many different items!!!! I've been to a BB in a rich area and it was the totally opposite, for those of you that care the BB was the one in Yorba Linda.

I meant clearance is thin again like when the plastic prisons were put in.

They don't trust the shoppers in Fontana as in most stores. What is the selection @ the store off Valley. I am always around that area but never checked out the selection.

Does Target have an employee policy against employees stashing items. If they do then you're actions would be wrong. Just ask your supervisor if it's ok and then you would know for sure. If it's ok to do it then I would say lucky you.

They do have a policy against this.
I don't care either way but it's against company policy for an employee to stash a game or any clearance item. You have to be on break or off-duty to buy anything in the store. Stashing a clearance game wouldn't be worth losing my job, but that's just me.

We're not supposed to stash stuff, but a lot of people do it anyways, especially when there's a lot of seasonal clearance.

I was there yesterday and they had a bajillion copies of Despicable Me for the Wii and a few fitness games, can't remember which one out of the million it was.
We're not supposed to stash stuff, but a lot of people do it anyways, especially when there's a lot of seasonal clearance.
i hear ya man. hey, if i worked retail and saw some really good games on the cheap, i'd totally keep them somewhere safe so i could buy them later. im sure the majority of people here would do the same. no one follows policies. my wife used to work retail and would hold tons of stuff on clearance so she could buy after work. her boss was cool with it, everyone did it. they work there, they have first dibs. :)

When I worked at TRU like 10 years ago out of high school, I was guilty of similar practices as well, although I mainly was grabbing certain action figures that I wanted, some of which were quite rare(McFarlane stuff). Certain collectors would come in every single morning, knew if we restocked, and were completely pissed when they saw there was no "chase" figs in the newly stocked peg hooks. I did get cool with them and throw them a few bones now and again, but anyway. There was no policy in writing at the time against holding stuff for yourself, but certain managers would allow at discretion. When I became a manager, when it came to the hot toys, I got a general idea from my employees of who wanted what, and played it as fair as I could. No one could hoard things, but I made sure they could still get that Furby or Tickle Me Elmo for their child for X-Mas, as long as we had amply supply hitting the floor for the "real" customers. I also made sure that when this stuff came in, they either bought it that day or they were SOL, cause that hot item wasn't gonna sit in the store for a week, because it would hold us up on getting restocked if we had stock on hand. They also had to buy it before we opened, or before we sold out, so customers wouldn't see them buying something at 5pm that was sold out at 10am. To me, I understand that it seems wrong, but it's a perk of working there all the same, as long as it's done right by everyone involved.

For some reason this brought up a memory of when Ron Artest played for the Bulls here and got a part time job at Circuit City to get the discount. The length people will go to be on the "inside". Hilarious stuff.

Store near me lowered the absurd prices of :360: Naughty Bear and :360: Bayonetta to just ridiculous prices of ~$24 and ~$29 respectively. Otherwise nothing else changed.

Most jobs have some sort of perk and for most retail jobs it means first access to good deals. I've worked retail, I know how bad it sucks. If someone wants to stash a game for himself/herself, go right ahead. They get paid terrible, treated terribly, and work awful hours. If that one score makes their day better, good for them.

Well said...I couldn't have said it better myself :applause::applause:

Listen, Target employees have first crack and first knowledge of clearance drops. If they wanna get it before the customer has access to it, then good for them. It's a perk, I agree.

But if they're gonna hold Fable 3 or something behind the counter or in the backroom and not allow a customer to buy it at $55 so that it will drop all the way down to $19.99 so they can snatch it up, then fuck THEM. That's no better than the asshole el hoardo who hides clearance games in boys underwear.

Rockband Beatles [207 22 0366] Xbox 360

Bayonetta [207 22 0429] Xbox 360
$41.98

I hate it when people say stuff like this. They didn't draw shitty in the job lottery or something. The job is for them to work crappy hours and to be treated terribly.. if they don't want to do it they can go elsewhere.

That said- I don't mind missing a deal to an employee if they pick it off the shelf before I do (when they aren't on the clock), but I'd expect them to get in trouble if they were hiding stuff for personal gain.

Heartily agree, although sometimes a game gets held in favor of a customer.

Just a few weeks before Christmas, I notice a Fable 3 CE on hold for someone who'd called in looking for it. Holding clearance for ANYONE is against Target policy, but since we had a lot of seasonals on board that aren't as familiar with what can or can't be done, I figured I'd let it go because one PO'ed SOB would be in soon only to find out that copy that was put on hold was sold prior to his arrival.

A few days later on my next electronics shift, a couple comes by looking for Fable 3 for their son. I pull the copy we have in the case, took them back to the register -- only to realize that we still had that same damn CE on hold for the guest who, by now, I figured decided to never show up.

So, turns out that a seasonal employee was holding it for himself, and got extremely angry with me. I had to remind him of Target's policy, and if I'd been a team lead that discovered this, he'd be out of the door before you could say "Happy Holidays".

Short story, I brighten a couple of parents' holiday seasons by getting them a CE of a game that's half the price of the original game... and said team member is no longer with the store.

Actually scratch that, two times. I grabbed a buttload of those Gamestop wallets the moment they pennied out XD. (But who seriously wanted those, ended up giving them to cousins)

I'm not sure if you're aware of the current economic situation...

Not many people work retail because they want to. Why would anybody choose to work for minimum wage nights, weekends, and holidays if they had other options? For many people retail is the best they can do.

Now you can report them to their supervisors for getting a damn video game before you or you can grow up, act like an adult, and realize that they are people too.

They can't "fire" you right away. It takes time for them to fire you the right way...Plus employers are smart too...They just don't fire you right away, they make your stay so unpleasant that you end up quitting. that's their goal; to make you quit before they fire you. In that rate, they don't have to give the former employees any umemployment benefits (which comes out of their pocket).

Good economy, bad economy- the job of the retail employee is to stock shelves and take shit. I didn't say it was a good job, I'm just saying it is the job description.
Wow, just wow.
It's not just video games- it's the principle. It's borderline theft to knowingly and willfully prevent the store from making sales in order to get a better price for yourself. We shun people on here all the time that hide and horde items, and those actions from an employee should be viewed as worse since they are essentially screwing over their employer.

The funniest part of this whole thing is the utter hypocrisy of criticizing someone for snagging a deal by any means necessary. CAGs are defined by this very trait (including lots of return fraud and other nefarious dealings). Complaining in this instance is very simply traced back to the fact that the Target employee can do these things, while we can't. If the situation were reversed, CAGs would do the same thing in a heartbeat, based on the few thousand posts I've read over the years here. :whistle2:\"

As for ON-topic, I checked two stores today and absolutely nothing changed. Even the XBOX Bayonettas and Naughty Bears are on their first round of cuts.

Late edit:
We shun people on here all the time that hide and horde items
...OR we praise them for "grabbing all dem shits" or otherwise beating everyone else to some sort of loophole. I believe in the principle as well but the "we" you speak of is not universal here on CAG.

I'm not sure if most of you aware that if you're a retail employee you supposed to sell stuff not hide and buy it because it's cheap. The products are FOR customers. Most retailer do offer employee only discount and employee only section. You already have that benefit working for the retailer the customer doesn't (And I'm sure Target offer employee discount). So when you say it's fair for the employee to HIDE products I say you're being ignorant because you believe your shitty $7.25 an hour job does not justify for what you do. At this point I really suggest you either get more education or go find a better job so your future will look brighter. Despite how bad the job is, bad economy or not, you took the job you have to do your duty. You are more than welcome to buy these products when you're actually a customer and have it being display in the store like any product in the store.

@Zippon: Not everyone here will do fraudulent activities with all the deals here. There are a small population that will do that but we're talking about forum patrons by human here not saints. That's why every thread that get into fraud usually end up being closed by a mod.

On a related note, we're not supposed to hold clearance items for anyone. The rare exception I've ran into is for patio furniture because were always overstocked with it when it's time to dump em and you can't exactly dump a bunch a BBQ grills on the floor the same way you can with clearance games.

Speak for yourself. Just because there are a lot of people like that on CAG doesn't mean it should be that way.

The "well other people are doing it" has never been a good excuse nor should it be one for doing something that's shady.

And yet, when I've tried to take the high road in the past and advise others to do the same, I get shouted down by the regulars, including yourself (although you've also added various expletives when responding to me).

Point being, the typical CAG will bend situations to the extreme to get a deal, even if they know it's wrong or against the rules. For example, using a coupon when we know it doesn't apply to an item (perhaps its on sale or is specifically excluded). As long as the register allows it (or the cashier can be browbeaten into overriding it) CAGs gleefully do it. Nobody dares suggest that it's wrong, because as long as they can get away with it, they'll go right ahead and blame the registers for not catching the mistake. How is that ANY different from an employee grabbing something during his shift? If he doesn't get caught, it isn't a problem according to the CAG philosophy. It's all just hypocrisy.

For all this activity in the thread, you'd think there were video game price drops to talk about. Geez. Can we get back on topic, please?

Well in this economy just saying "dont like it? find another job" is incredibly assinine and makes you sound like a dick. Not everyone can have a great job and are stuck doing the shitty ones till they can find better. And for the few people that work at target because they cant do anything else what are they supposed to do? Just say "fuck you target I quit. Im going to mop floors at a gas station instead because Im tired of this shitty job!" Youd think if they could quit their shitty jobs for good ones they would. No one works at target that doesnt have to.

Course thats the american mentality of "fuck it" that helps put us in the shitter. When its something that doesnt involve you personally then its easy to just say fuck it or make some kind of half assesd attempt at sounding like your dealing out the hard truth no one else will and your being firm because its the right thing to do.

And why shouldnt they put something aside for themself when their on the clock? Why does it matter when they will buy it either way. No one is going to say "I want the last copy of that game a lot but oh wait I still have to work another 2 hours before Im off the clock. I should leave it sit there and hope its there when Im done working because its not fair to a customer". Whether they set something aside or not they are still the customer when they pay for it. Given the chance you would have them set the last item aside for you as well, so whats the difference?

So in the spirit of things if you dont like it then quit your job and go work at target so you can put stuff aside for yourself.

Oh ok I understand. You agree with that other moron TIMES A MILLION! And you report employees who do it. But when you do it ok, oh wait sorry, when you do it multiple times its ok. Must be nice to live in a world where you condemn people for doing something but can turn around and do it yourself and have that be ok with you. Gotta love the american motto of "Do what I say and not what I do". Thats somehow worse than the idiot who tells people with crappy jobs if they dont like them to quit.

It should be noted that "perks" are provided by the employer, not the employee. I think everyone who puts stuff aside for themselves should ask their employer if it is indeed a "perk" of working retail to prevent consumers from purchasing merchandise.

This shouldn't even be an argument. For any job, you work there, you agree to your salary and any promised "perks". You do not make your own perks. If your employer said "You get first dibs on clearance merchandise", then more power to you. I have yet to work at any company on the retail or corporate side that allows employees to make their own rules.

agreed
However, if i was a manager of a Target, i would not allow my employees to even get dibs on whatever clearance item.
At the end of the day, the costumer is my target [pun intended] who i want to attract to my store. If a costumer is happy with whatever clearance he/she obtained and keeps coming back to my store then i have successfully stole some market share in the retail industry [hehe, screw you Wal-Mart!].

Dont get me wrong, it's not like i am going to be a tyrant with my employees but the costumer is my priority.

not really, i would probably come home from work empty-handed...with a check of course
