Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

Are they sitting in plain sight or are they hidden somewhere in the store?
People at my Target buy most things when they are 15 or 30% off so I rarely see things go below that unless it's Wii shovelware or something.

I wonder sometimes if Targets also send stuff intra-company from a store that sells few video games to a store that sells a lot.

It's possible your store isn't selling the games at 30% but rather sending them out.

Can anyone who works at target confirm or deny this?

Although, one store out of two had decent clearance items outside of the normal shovelware. Mainly a Legendary Edition and PS2 Slim.

It would make sense. I know that Best Buy does that sometimes when they see a store that significantly moves a particular SKU.

The PS3 Black Ops Prestige edition in my target still at $105 price. I'll wait until it hits 50% off but the problem is only one left in my area. I am thinking of hiding it /taping the whole box under a counter top!

The only time clearance items sit in the backroom is when they need to be ticketed and sent back out. Otherwise they CANNOT be backstocked. If you don't believe me go look at your domestics/housewares clearance endcaps (they tend to be overflowing with items).

I personally haven't been told, seen anyone pull, or have known the 2 targets I have worked at to ship items to another higher volume store. There is a store close to my hometown that is notorious for having clearance games from a long long time ago simply because no one buys them even at 75%+ off that I know would have sold at much lower % off at another store.

If a Target did send stock to another Target my guess is that it would be an exception to the rule.

Do your own research before you buy instead of taking it from some other person who might actually want it. If people just buy anything to hope for a flip and return if not, the less clearance items left and some of the good stuff might get salvaged or bought up by employees when you return it after not being able to flip. I would think Target might also wise up to excessive returns of clearance and change their refund policy.

Well I have decided that I will no longer browse this forum. I feel like I am being mocked and it is not fair. I think that part of the reason is that everyone is jealous that I had such a brilliant idea that nobody else here mentioned. I know I will have this game soon enough and my mom said that it will work and I have no reason to believe that she would lie to me. I will be the only person to get this game on clearance because my store will be the only one with a copy left. Have fun paying 200 hundred dollar on ebay for your MVC3 while I will get mine on target clearance.

What you're proposing here is close enough to theft that most members wouldn't seriously consider it. No, you aren't necessarily breaking any laws (that I know of anyways). But you are contemplating an act that could be considered morally wrong.

CheapyD and the people that contribute to this site are all looking for the best deals on video games (primarily). But they do so through the proper means. So, when someone comes onto this site with the new "great idea" for getting games on the cheap (hiding stock, switching price tags, buying from one store cheap and returning to another at a higher price), that person is met with either anger or mocking.

Why?

Because you're attempting to do something wrong.

And remember, in doing so, you're also potentially ruining a legitimate source for cheaper games. What happens if everyone decided to start hiding the games they wanted until they went on clearance at Target? Best case scenario is that nobody can find the games they want because they're all hidden. Worst case: Target discovers the scam, and no longer places games on clearance. Or perhaps they just stop selling games altogether and we lose another competitor to the other stores out there.

First, I don't think people are mocking u, it's just funny.
Second, Your idea is good :roll:, but u are taking the chance that someone will find it and put it back or selling it.
Third, if somehow u were able to find MvC3 CE on clearance then good for u. People on CAG knows better to try to find the best deal and not pay that high price on ebay.....unless they have enough money and dont want to waste time.

My idea is even more brilliant. I'm going down to the Target tools area. I'm not telling you how to find this area, because you will try to steal my idea. There, I will find a box cutter, exacto knife, or Reese Witherspoon's chin (because you can open safes with it, from what I've heard). I'll put one of the above in my pocket before preceding to the electronics section. I'll walk behind all the books on the way there, so no one will see me and steal my idea, because it sucks when people steal my ideas. I'm going to ask the clerk for MvC3 CE, and when he hand it to me, I'll tell him that I want to shop some more, so I'll pay at the front. Then, being more clever than all of you, I will take the game to the men's bathroom, because everyone knows that there's only cameras in the female bathrooms. In the privacy of my own stall, I will use the box cutter to carefully open up MvC3 CE, while dropping the kids of at the pool. Nothing says genius like doing two things at once. After I use up half a roll of their TP, and after I slip out the disk, I'll hide the disk in the trashcan in the bathroom. Make sure it's a bluray disk, because they can only be destroyed in Mount Doom. I'll then take the box cutter back to the tools section, but not before perusing the seasonal section, where I will use it one last time to open a package of peeps, because they are yummy. After returning the box cutter to the tools section, I'll walk back to the electronics section with the empty MvC3 case, this time through the main aisles. I'll tell the clerk that I changed my mind, because I need money for drugs. Then I'll leave the store, and walk out to the dumpsters. I'll bring a few packs of smokes, and maybe a joint, and just hang around. When they toss the garbage from the bathrooms into the dumpster (I'll know because it'll be a bunch of paper towels), I'll wait for them to go back inside. At this point, they would have tossed the disk into the garbage, and I'll sift through all the papers for the One Ring, because garbage is free for all. I'll take that home and play, and would not have taken a thing out of the store, therefore would have committed no crime. As for the peeps, I already gave them an equivalent exchange in the bathroom, which I never flushed. I. Am. A. Genius. And you wish you thought of this before I did. Because I'll have a free copy of MvC3 CE and you won't.

The big question I have is what type of tape will he use? Painter's tape, masking tape, duct tape, regular clear tape or the regular tape that isn't clear.

Agreed and dually noted. I love the clearance section at Target you get some good stuff for great prices. So dude don't screw this up for us legit gamers who pay our hard earned money for these. Depends on the item. Most are 30-50-75 but the big ticket items are generally 15-30-50.

Ah, thanks for answering my question :) I have my eye on a Canon PowerShot 1300 IS. I just hope I can buy one at 50% :pray:As soon as people see that red sticker on those cameras, they jump on them.

Also, I don't know if y'all coupon but I think this is a good deal. This last week, maybe 2 weeks ago, there was a coupon for Community Coffee "Buy 1 Get 1 Free, Up to a $7 value" in the local circular. I saw some Community Coffee Cafe Especial Medium Roast bags on clearance for $2.xx (DPCI: 231-10-0147).

I'm going to try and use it to buy that Decaf ($2.xx) plus a Coffee and Chicory bag ($5.xx at Target). I read the fine print on the coupon, it didn't exclude clearanced items. I'll post my experience later for those interested :)
