Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

I wonder if the other one drops and how I could take advantage of said scenario... hmm... probably more trouble than it's worth
Buy it and return it with the first receipt.
This is just a friendly reminder that it never hurts to scan a game to double check a price. Probably 98% of the time the tag is correct, but when it's not it feels like you won a low-stakes lottery. I found :360: Oblivion GOTY for 7.48 (tagged at 20.48) and :ps3: RE5 Gold for 9.98 (tagged at 19.98).
When I picked up Sin & Punishment it had NO stickers and Tropico 3 had the sticker mostly tore off. Still not sure if someone was trying to be clever or what, lol.

From what I recall you can also obtain the bar code from a database site and just scan it from a printed sheet. I believe this will also reveal any stock that may be lurking in the back, or maybe it will alert you to a undiscovered stash and you can go El Hoardo Easter egg hunting!
Hm . . . Wouldn't you have to send it in with Awakening and all of the DLC intact for a trade-in, though? If not, it's tempting (I'm in the same boat, have the original release, would like the DLC), but I'm suspicious.

Is the DLC all on a disc, or does it come with download codes?
It is just like the fallout 3 and oblivion GOTY, its on a disc that you install once and never have to use again. I tried it with my vanilla copy to make sure the two discs didn't need to be used together in order to work like ME2. So if you want the DLC i suggest picking it up.

I refuse to believe that a bunch of you are from Richmond. I frequent the Short Pump location since it's near where I live and I only ever see soccer moms looking through the clearance games. You guys must be ninjas or something. Or you are really just soccer moms on a video game forum.

Ive got plenty of receipts to prove I am partaking in the Target clearance RIC edition.

Yes I am ninja.

Even scarier... those soccer moms you saw work for me.

Muhahahah.

Well, tell them to back off. Also, let them know they need to wait for games to drop a little bit lower than 30% off before buying them.
I think one of you might have ganked that RE5 Gold that I was eyeing at target this past week. I was waiting for it to drop, figured it wouldn't have lasted but it would have been nice
That would be me. The city had a ton of stock but it started selling once it hit clearance. I snagged 2 @ 19.99 b/c Im pretty sure it wouldnt make it to the next cuts (not from what I saw at other stores) If a CAGer needs it tho, happy to hook em up. I get most of my stuff for friends/other CAGers so as long as its not to a profiteer, Im happy.
Well, tell them to back off. Also, let them know they need to wait for games to drop a little bit lower than 30% off before buying them.
Wii stuff is the only thing that Im seeing go for what Id say is above reasonable value. (thanks to xmas and moms buying for a kids one console, usually wii)

The big name xbox stuff goes @ fair prices, just higher than Id like ($20 is reserved for AAA titles or games I really want but will be tricky to find much cheaper later) More "gamer known" but not public known makes it down lower.

Ps3 has been where the depth is. So much so Ive doubled my ps3 backlog from mostly Target finds.

Only thing Ive had trouble with is the collectors/ue/goy stuff. Our stores get few of these and they stay up for the longest time. When the managers do finally let it go, its a good to great drop and is gone fast.

Well,

$20 wasn't much of a deal. I would have jumped on $15. The same game was $20 during Gamestop's summer sale back in June / July. That's why I didn't pick it up when i saw it during target clearance.
Ive got plenty of receipts to prove I am partaking in the Target clearance RIC edition.

Yes I am ninja.

Even scarier... those soccer moms you saw work for me.

Muhahahah.
I'll be sure to bring my sword to pierce some of those soccer moms raiding the clearance sections at my local target.

Hold on...

That didn't come out right... :whistle2:s
From what I recall you can also obtain the bar code from a database site and just scan it from a printed sheet. I believe this will also reveal any stock that may be lurking in the back, or maybe it will alert you to a undiscovered stash and you can go El Hoardo Easter egg hunting!
If you have a smartphone with a decently bright screen, the scanners can scan from a phone's screen as well. I use it once in a while to check on games that are still locked up but CAG's have reported as being on clearance.

Psshhh... I can smell the deals long before I get to the store. Have been raiding that Kmart off of Broad St in westend these past few weeks. Those stackable coupons work in your favor if you wanna get something on release day. I ended up getting Halo Reach for a nice $20 on thanksgiving.
Well aren't you a dandyboy?
You mean the Glenside store? Hell, you can't even get the address right son. I doubt you could "smell a deal" even if it was hanging off your upper lip.
NFS: HP :360: for $5 on Thanksgiving: How you like them apples, chump?

Nice to see all the lurker Richmonders coming out of the woodwork. Now I can start my "list". ;)
Has anyone in the Akron area seen Borderpost, I mean Borderlands for $7.48 yet?
Hmm. Never tried to scan off my phone. I guess I've never had to try since the games at the Targets I frequent aren't behind the glass cage. Good info for me to know next time.

Warning! Semi-long-winded, random Target story:

The other day I asked an employee to scan Green Day RB for me since it was behind the glass cage. The clearance sticker was $19.98. He scanned it with his gun and stared at the gun's screen for a while then finally said, almost mumbling, "yeah it's $19..." I never saw the screen. Then all of a sudden he changed the subject and started to pitch NFS HP. :whistle2:s At the time I didn't think anything of it, but it seemed he was lying/hiding something from me. I think he was going to buy it himself. At $20 he could keep it, but if he out-right lied to me and it was really less I'm going to be pissed. :censored: The only way to verify is to go back to that faraway Target and check if it's still there.

If your store scanners allow it, you can always enter the DPCI number off the clearance sticker. IMHO, it's best to avoid employees when possible.

If your store has the price scanners that you can punch in the DPCI numbers, you can always do that and save yourself some hassle. You can find the number on the clearance tag and the shelf tag.

What stores have good deals on PS3 games? I really just tend to go to Short Pump and Willow Lawn and they never seem to have good clearance prices. However, I did find the full Beatles Rock Band Special Edition at the Chester store for $33.48. That's my only good find in the past year.
My Target sucks. They have had the same games at 50% off for the last 3 weeks. Probably because of the holiday shopping and thinking customers will buy when it says clearance on the games. But no, they are still there. This store normally marks games down more every week, but not now. Still waiting.................
Welcome to the northwest. Mine drops the price every 3-4 weeks. Takes forever to get it at a good price if it survives that long.

Went by Target and they got in Oblivinions GOTY this week for $14.99 and nearly everything that I saw during BF and last week are gone this week. Unfort. Lost Planet 2 never dropped down but it seems people are still buying it at $19.99. No more GTA episodes...oh well. All that's left is a lot of Band Hero's, Mass Effect 2 and Guitar Hero Green Day and Van Halen.

I did pick up the last Dragon's Age Origins (360) for $14.98 and Sonic the Hedgehog (360) - $4.98.

I got lucky for once last night Went into Target just for hair de-tangler for my daughter and ended up picking up Alpha Protocol for $9.98 and White Knight Chronicles for $12. White Knight was stickered as clearence for $21 but rang up as only $12 thankfully.

Oddly enough my ID had to be scanned to purchase Alpha Protocol (to verify my age?). Because with graying temples and thinning bangs and two kids in the shopping cart, I must not look old enough.

From what I've seen, I don't think Target cashiers get that much discretion. The system won't let them continue the sale until an ID has been scanned. The only other way would be to get a manager to approve it, and that's a lot more effort than just having the customer get an ID out, even if it's obvious.

Exactly, same deal at Toys R Us. Very awkward to ask the elderly for ID to purchase a mature rated game but I just explain to them why and they usually have no problems with it. However, I'm sure I've made a few 12 year old enemies as I've had plenty of parents reconsider buying a certain game after being told why they need ID and explaining to them why a game is rated the way it was.

But yeah, it's not really the cashier being a dick or anything a few stores these days automatically prompt for it and will not allow you to continue until whatever requirement is asked is met outside of getting manager approval.

Yeah I originally thought about that but they didn't have keypads.

On the same subject, the one near me does have the numbered keys. I tried typing in the DPCI but it didn't work. Well it didn't do anything. Is a menu supposed to come up or does it show what you typed?

Green Day: Rock Band for $19.xx and Guitar Hero: Van Halen for $24.xx at a store near OKC yesterday.

It'd be nice if they had a dummy ID they could scan for people who are obviously old enough to buy the M-rated games, or booze, or whatever else.

But why? Is it really that much effort for you to get your ID out? All that doing something like that would accomplish would be to make it easier for a cashier to sell to someone underage (which, in the case of booze, could get not just the cashier but the store in significant trouble).

Just picked up the following from Oceanside, CA:

Rock Band 2 Special Edition (full band bundle, Xbox 360) - $34.98
Dragon Age: Origins (PS3) - $7.48

:ps3: Vanquish $14.98
:ps3: Killzone 2 $7.48
:ps3: GH 5 $9.98
:360: Bioshock $3.48
:ds: TouchMaster 2 $4.98

Also saw both :360: and :ps3: Dragon Age UE for $29.98 each.
But why? Is it really that much effort for you to get your ID out?
Yeah, it is. Totally defeats the purpose of my buying a wallet with a window for the driver's license, because they can't just look at it, even--they gotta scan the fucking back. Annoying as shit. All because this 35-year-old wants to buy Grand Theft Auto.

All that doing something like that would accomplish would be to make it easier for a cashier to sell to someone underage (which, in the case of booze, could get not just the cashier but the store in significant trouble).
That's true. Still, though, there's something very silly about asking to see/scan someone's ID who's obviously over age. That's what happened to my 62-year-old mother when she bought a six-pack at Target a while back. I mean, come on.

What's odd is that I've bought wine at Target or Freddy's and -not- had to scan my idea. I've seen the cashier press a key and it said 'Age verification bypassed" on the register.

yeah, they asked me for DL to scan when I bought ME2. Clearly, in this weather and where this Target is located...ain't no one walkin to it so you gotta be aleast old enough to drive there.
It seems the system that lets one check store availability has been down since last night.
Yeah it seems that way. It might have been down evern earlier than that possibly. Ah well.

Yeah, but look at it this way -- by making the policy apply to everybody, you eliminate all room for error. As soon as you give the cashiers any leeway at all to make a judgment call, you take the risk that they will (intentionally or not) judge incorrectly.

How long ago? At least here, the ID scanning is a relatively recent development. Back when they had to just visually inspect the ID, they could bypass it.

Geez, Vanquish and DAO:UE just came out not to long ago, and they've already dropped, that's 75% and 50% off of games that have only been out for about a month. Granted DAO is an older game but still...And as far as Vanquish, SEGA just needs to throw in the towell already.

Totally agree. Doesn't make it any less annoying, though.

Vanquish PS3 for $14.98 is a total surprise to me. I did't recall seeing this game in that store ever. This Monday I saw a lone copy with a $29.98 tag on it at an endcap. It rang up $14.98.

It makes no sense that they immediately started clearing out Dragon Age UE at 50% off price point since it just came out less than 2 months ago.

Yup, I've seen in a couple of stores that I frequent. Sometimes there are only a few of the keypads that are working and the rest have the keys disabled (or broken) and all you can do there is scan the upc codes. Not sure if these keypads are disabled or broken.

I bought the regular version of Uncharted 2 Among Thieves yesterday from the Target in Springfield, PA at Baltimore Pike and Woodland Avenue. It was on clearance before Black Friday but I didn't pick it up because I have the game, but I bought my little cousin a PS3 from BJ's the Saturday after Black Friday and regretted not buying it. I got lucky yesterday finding it there. For what it's worth they have about 2 copies left. Look in the aisle where the PS3 games are and you will see one or two copies left behind the Game Of The Year edition that's on display in the front.

Hey nice, a fellow Springfield Targeter, happy hunting !

[inQUOTE=arionfrost;7936824]Well,

Agreed. $20 isnt a killer deal by any means. But watching 8 copies (over 5 stores) go down to 3 (although one of those was my ps3 copy) in a weeks time made me decide to hedge my bets. Amazon sold out Bfri @ $20, Target is moving them @ $20 + tax. Of course this doesnt mean anything if its only worth $15 to you. For me, I pay a little extra when the market seems to dictate I must because overall Im still way ahead thanks to CAG.

If nobody else wants them @ $20, no great shakes. We all have different price points for different games.

(just another heads up for those interested, the Fallout 3 Goy in disappearing faster than I expected. 6 copies down to 2 even @ $25.) Certainly worth it but I understand how $25 seems high for a CAGer (hell even I shuddered and I love Fallout 3)

Not a huge fan of the ID scanning, no one at Target has ever been able to give me a consistent and straight answer as to WHERE the information goes and who has access to it once it's scanned. (I've had bogus copies of my DL made and used in emptying my bank account so I get a bit paranoid about this stuff) One manager even said "Nothing to worry about, corporate just uses it to verify your age for the game, and then it goes into our central marketing database, but only Target sees that."

yeah, just what I need, Target ripping my name/address for marketing purposes because I want to buy a $7 clearance M-rated game. :p Ever since then I just take the game up to customer service to get the override.. they can see it, not scan it. :p

*sigh, just my luck. the one game that other people have been finding I can't find :(. no Target on my side of town at least has any copies of that ultra cheap "Dragon Age Origins" for :ps3:

That should be the last thing you need to worry about as the cookies on the sites you visit probably have ripped off your name and address already. Hehe...

I've been getting carded for a lot of games lately from Target...Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Oblivion and now Dragon Age.

I used to worry about the ID scanning. Now I just don't care. There's more security holes than Target scanning my ID for age. They're not gonna do something so bad for PR as to record more than they need. I realize them using my info of purchases and bday of marketing to me or people like me might be a small invasion of privacy. But frankly, i don't give a shit. It's not enough to make me be *that guy* and request a manager.

It's not like the cashier wants to do it. It's just a job.

Was able to get the last copies of the following

:ps3: Resident Evil 5 Gold $9.98
:wii: Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles $9.98
:wii: Sin & Punishment 2 $12.48

A big thanks to kiribee for the info on Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles. Got to love target clearance

I did a quick scan (I haven't been keeping up with the thread lately much at all) and saw that Killzone 2 is only $7.50 now. My buddy has been wanting this and missed his chance on BF. When did this drop occur (so I know how likely it would be that price at any given location in my area)?

what's annoying about the ID scanning is two things:

1-Sometimes they don't know which bar code to scan (as there are two) and they usually pull the scanner gun so far back that the light tries scanning both of them and messes up :(

2-I still have my old license and won't switch over to the new shitty looking one. It's still valid and legally acceptable yet once and awhile I get lip about it saying "That doesn't look like a VA drivers license...it's suppose to be this!(pulls out new shitty one) "
