Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
Thank you for clearing that up so people don't talk our of their asses when talking to a target employee following bad advice.
FLOL, apologies for the "bad advice" that comes from not knowing the nuances of Target minimum wage retail employee protocol and stockroom/ladder certification. I defer to the you and the other experts in the thread. They're all red shirts to me.

dude, you're an idiot. I was nice enough not to call you out by name and you insult retail employees, which there happen to be a lot of on this board and who contribute a lot more than you ever will. Take your attitude somewhere else. If that isn't clear: go fuck yourself.

The clearance section at my local Target is bare to the bone. Only one copy of Fallout 3 GOTY edition (PS3) and a few crappy kids' DS games.

Oh, well - time to enjoy the games I got a few weeks ago.

Picked up:
:360: Band Hero - 9.98

Saw:
:360: Backbreaker - 9.98
:360: GH: Van Halen - 12.48

:ps2: Jax Dexter Lost Frontier - 7.48 (I think)
:wii: Red Steel 2 (w/ M+) - 9.98
:ps3: DJ Hero (SA) - 12.48

...a bunch of other :ps2: titles for 75% off, but I can't remember them.

What's your problem? Some of us who once were able to rely on other stores coughcoughSearscoughcoughKmartcoughcough and can no longer get GOOD clearance deals there have had to either rely on Toys R' Us or Target for our clearance deals anymore.

Unfortunately, TRU seems to change some prices back to MSRP when it suits them to try and make some extra money and I've never had much luck getting deals from Target.

So I'll take ANY method possible to get in on a clearance deal at Target if need be, since I want some more recent games but I don't wanna pay MSRP for them.
Your method of bullshiting and getting a gullible/green CSR won't work the majority of the time...especially if you frequent only a store or two like most of us. Imagine if somebody posted in your penny guide thread that they bought guides before a pull and then had them price adjusted to a penny the next day. Would you put this in the first post of the thread as a viable way to get penny guides?

I've got no problem with anybody getting any deals any way they see fit. Stash games, hoard games, steal games I don't give a sh!t. I do have a problem with people spreading disinformation in the thread. So if you got around Target's return policy pat yourself on the back. If you managed it twice, pat yourself twice. But don't post here that it will work when it just won't for the majority of us.

As for the "methods" to return at higher price/rebuy at lower price, the method that has always worked for me is to change payment types/credit cards. Return it on one, then they will re-ring it up. You honestly think a CSR is going to manually adjust the new price higher, back to the "original" clearance price? That shit won't fly in Cali - you pay what the register says. I've never even had to bother with the browsing and "I couldn't find anything can I buy it back" method.
Yes, I do think they could manually adjust the price as I've had them do it to me before.

:360:

BorderLands $7.48 207-22-0253
UFC 09 $7.48
Wrestling something 2010 $9.98
Mass Effect 2 $4.98
Green Day Rockband $9.98 207-22-0479
GH Van Halen $12.48
NHL 10 $6.24 207-22-0371
Backbreaker $9.98

I just picked up [207-24-0359] Little Big Planet with Dual Shock 3 controller for 14.98. I was looking for a controller and the game was just icing on the cake.

I found a couple of copies of the Ultimate Edition but they still rang up full price. I went to 4 different stores before I found them though.

Only ones I saw today at the Oracle/First Avenue Target in Oro Valley, AZ that are noteworthy are:

:360: Iron Man 2 - $13.48
:360: GTA: Episodes From Liberty City - $7.48

I don't have the DCPI codes for either since I didn't pick them up.

Picked up Red Steel 2(Wii) $9.98, Alien vs Predator(360) $7.48, and the Resident Evil Gold game for the 360 for $9.98 as well. Also of note the video game rockers were 30% off too.
Finally picked up RB Green Day (360) for $9.98
I had to settle for $20 but I did find a Band Hero for $10.

where'd you find this? I am hoping for a christmas return, but that is about all I am likely to find.

I bought 2 of the $100 ones 2 years ago on Target clearance. They work really well and sound pretty good. I don't currently use them (I have real video game recliners that are MUCH more comfortable and Turtle Beach headphones to use), but I used them quite a bit before. If you're tall, it's hit or miss if they are comfortable or not, but for $25. they were worth it.

There are people in the backroom that salesfloor people can walkie to pull items for them since target has a closed backroom policy where you need to be certified to go in there, let alone get on a ladder to pull something. Also, scanners wont say in stock in the backroom, it says X amount available, that can be wrong since it updates once a day and doesnt account for that days sales. Lastly the employee wouldn't get fired for not going into the backroom, especially if theyre hardlines or softlines, best they can do IF they have a walkie is get ahold of backroom.
Where did you hear all of this from? I worked as a backroom/logistics employee at Target for two years and there was no such policy. Anyone working at the store could go into the backroom and pull product for customers. Nearly all employees were taught how to pull/restock/move items from the backroom. As for quantity in stock, the PDAs will only bring up the various locations on the floor or in the backroom so multiple locations would only tell you at least 1 of each item in each location, assuming the product is actually in those locations. My store didn't have many error/ghost items but some stores in my district had hundreds of errors per week. The quantity should, however, be available to employees with access to the computer system but those are generally only the backroom/logistics team leads or truck team leads, or even AP.

Thank you for clearing that up so people don't talk our of their asses when talking to a target employee following bad advice.

Usually they salvage it which generally means they donate it to the Goodwill. You may get lucky if they put it back on the floor, and you may get luckier if they sell it to you for the last price in the sytem.

Hah I wish!

Worked there for two years in high school. Anything too big or solid to be compacted gets slashed up and thrown out (they slash it up so people won't dumpster dive).

Either way it's destroyed. Anything that doesn't go back on the floor goes this route, cheaper than shipping it out somewhere.

Not here. I have spotted many Target clearance items at Goodwill.

Just updated the OP....if you would please review the OP before posting your finds and posting any new games/price points in bold red (or just red) that would help me out a bunch....

THANKS

God, it's been so long since the LA area targets had good clearance shit. It's nothing but FIFA, Wolfenstein and Green Day Rock Band at $20. (After being at $28 for 3 goddamn months)

I just want PS3 GDRB. :(
Same here.
+1 on the RB GD find. Also picked up Band Hero for the same price of 9.98

One store also dropped the Assassin's Creed tshirts, both the black and red tees. They're now at 50% off ($6.48). Didn't buy any as they only had the Smalls. Other stores haven't dropped them yet.

Other than that, it's een slim pickin's

Only thing that got compacted at my Target was old magazines or books the vendor wasn't allowed to sell and spoiled/outdated food products. Most anything else came up salvage in the systems and would then be sent out for donations or back to vendors for credits.
Why can't mine have this..instead 20+ ME2 copies.
I don't know if this helps you but here's the DPCI for Episodes From Liberty City 360: 207-22-0415
can you post dcpi? is this nationwide and what system?
I saw 2 of these at my local Target today for the 360 (Long Island NY). Too bad I picked it up last year. Saw and bought Arcania Gothic 4 for the PC for $19.99 but after reading reviews it's probably going back.

Which Long Island store? I went to 2 today but didn't see a single copy. In fact there were a few targets that didn't even have a section for clearance games anymore.

Ah, out in Nassau, quite a drive. Thanks though.

I currently work at target and the backroom policy is shoved down our throats, at my store only back room pulls stock and have their own walkie channel for this and other backroom stuff.

Not much at 75% at my Target except for Green Day Rock Band :360: $9.98 and Backbreaker :360: $9.98. I did notice a new round of games that have started the clearance cycle:

Naughty Bear :360:
Trauma Team :wii:
Alice in Wonderland :wii:
Despicable Me :wii:
Resistance Retribution :psp:
Motorstorm Arctic Edge :psp:

There were a lot more titles but I didn't have a chance to take notes.

The Spring Hill, TN Target had about a half dozen copies of Bayonetta "clearanced" to $41.98... LOL. I don't see that budging too quickly. They also had one copy of Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow for $4.98, which I grabbed. One or two GH Van Halens for $12.48, also.
