Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
I currently work at target and the backroom policy is shoved down our throats, at my store only back room pulls stock and have their own walkie channel for this and other backroom stuff.
And I also know for a fact that one of the biggest things corporate hates is to hear that anything that could be on the floor isn't, since the most expensive place (for the store) to have an item, any item, is in the backroom. There is in fact a fairly descent size army of people who's job it is to make sure that stores have the "perfect" amount of inventory so that in theory if an item is not on the shelf they do not have it, and that 99% of the time they always have at least one of the item on the shelf.

I know you're laughing at that, but that is how it is SUPPOSED to work.
The CSR can overide the new lower price and adjust it back up to what you paid for it thereby satisfying your need to "change payment" and eliminating you getting the lower price. A CSR can also cancel a return like it never happened if you pay by credit or giftcard so you can get your item back and still not get the lower price. And how many times do you think you can play stupid and lie to the CSR before they catch on to your "method"?
They can. Why would they? And even if they do, you can still return it, or ask why you can't have it at the lower price (since you'll see it on the register, at least you do at my target).

And since I've never done it once, and didn't say "this always works, go do it" I don't know why you're jumping all over me. You said nothing would work, but people have posted in this thread otherwise, and I was just pointing that out. I'm not guaranteeing success.

Went to 2 targets today. One had Band Hero at $9.98 and GH Van Halen for $12.xx. The other store had Iron Man 2 for 360 ($13.xx), Bayonetta for 360 ($4x.xx LOL), Alice in Wonderland for Wii, Trauma Team for Wii, and Despicable Me for Wii.
Only thing that got compacted at my Target was old magazines or books the vendor wasn't allowed to sell and spoiled/outdated food products. Most anything else came up salvage in the systems and would then be sent out for donations or back to vendors for credits.
Back to vendor returns do happen but not for out of system merch. Only for furniture and other items that were broken or came missing pieces.

I've never found a retail store that does anything but destroy merch they can't sell or get refunded, the liability involved with donation and the "image" issue involved with throwing it out isn't worth it.

Been dumpster diving since my teens and pretty much everyone destroys everything now.

Also: regarding pulling backroom stock, anyone who works the floor was certified at both Targets I worked at. Warehouse staff are usually there during the early shifts only, if you come in between 5 and 10pm one of us was going to pull it. I've never seen a target that had enough staff on hand to keep warehouse in during all hours, but i live in the midwest so maybe that's not the norm.

I'm an electronics team member at Target, and the backroom policy varies from store to store. At my store, most employees who have been there for more than a month or two (and aren't just seasonal employees) are taught how to pull items from the stockrooms. Especially in electronics, since we have a separate stockroom at the front of the store. In general, however, clearance items aren't going to be in the backroom. They're either already on the shelf or waiting on a pull cart to be put there (on the Monday morning pull if the overnight team doesn't finish it.)

at my store only backroom TMs are supposed to be pulling from the stockroom, but technically anyone is allowed to pull as long as you work there. they do this to minimize mistake with stock counts. oh and whoever said it doesn't tell you how much quantity is in the back is either still working with an older system or is wrong. we had a major system upgrade last year that keeps track of 99% of quantity stocked now. whether or not that is correct depends on many factors, but usually wrong quantities are caused by human error.

on another note, video game clearance was mostly psp games and wii shovelware. i saw resistance retribution for 10.xx but i don't have a psp. but i did get lucky and found the last fallout 3 GOTY (PS3, 12.48). sure is going to be fun installing that 6000 mb.
does anyone know if fallout goty will get lower then 12.48 ? what was its original price?
I think that is the lowest price it will drop. If you wait longer, probably be difficult to find.
I did notice a new round of games that have started the clearance cycle:

Damn, I want that. Any idea what price range this is at yet?

Got one last night for $6.xx.
It was tucked away in the toy clearance aisle though.
The action figures and comic were also at 50% off.

I believe it's 27.xx

It's a brand new drop around here as well. Hopefully it'll last until $10.

Sweet- I'll be making a trip tonight.

I bought the red shirt at full price around christmas after talking to one of the clerks who told me that they were tucked away in the back. He told me there was only 1 large shirt left, and that he was going to buy it when it went on clearance. So i bought it then. Unfortunately, when it went on clearance, there were tons of larges...

its rare but 75% is lowest it goes. if ou wait to long it will go salvage and the store returns the product to the company.

I think the Culver City store (on Jefferson, not the Fox Hills mall) is just a tad overstocked on Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia:
There are people in the backroom that salesfloor people can walkie to pull items for them since target has a closed backroom policy where you need to be certified to go in there, let alone get on a ladder to pull something. Also, scanners wont say in stock in the backroom, it says X amount available, that can be wrong since it updates once a day and doesnt account for that days sales. Lastly the employee wouldn't get fired for not going into the backroom, especially if theyre hardlines or softlines, best they can do IF they have a walkie is get ahold of backroom.

Where did you hear all of this from? I worked as a backroom/logistics employee at Target for two years and there was no such policy. Anyone working at the store could go into the backroom and pull product for customers. Nearly all employees were taught how to pull/restock/move items from the backroom. As for quantity in stock, the PDAs will only bring up the various locations on the floor or in the backroom so multiple locations would only tell you at least 1 of each item in each location, assuming the product is actually in those locations. My store didn't have many error/ghost items but some stores in my district had hundreds of errors per week. The quantity should, however, be available to employees with access to the computer system but those are generally only the backroom/logistics team leads or truck team leads, or even AP.
It probably varies from store to store. Best practice nowadays is to require that everyone who pulls from the backroom be certified to do so. I'm not sure when you worked at Target, but the latest software release made some major changes to the way things are pulled, the biggest of them being that we now have to key in quantities when we're pulling or backstocking any item. If a store is having major issue with ghost locations they could very well put a ban on anyone outside of the backroom team to pulll an item.

So, the original quote is partially right... don't assume that any Target TM can pull an item from the backroom for you. It all depends on the store you go to. I would say higher volume stores would be more likely to have this policy than lower volume stores where staffing becomes a major factor.

Any other goodies you happen to spot there?

just happened upon a ps3 version of FO3 GOTY for 12.48. still marked 25 but rang up 12.48. found a 360 one at another store earlier in the week too.
Any other goodies you happen to spot there?
Nope, just shovelware. A huge stack of Xbox 360 Iron Man 2 for $20.98 or $24.98. Neither Culver City stores had anything notable.

Tyler Target still barren. Several Green Day Rockbands that finally dropped. DPCI checker shows Fallout 3 GOTY 360 as 'Limited Availability' but I couldn't locate it, and the clerk could not either. So who knows where it is if anywhere. DPCI checker also shows Bioshock 2 special edition 360 as available, but I did not see it and did not ask about it.

More interestingly there was an 'Online return' Deadwood Blu-ray complete set stickered at 107.xx. Does anyone know if the Online returns also undergo price reductions like clearance items?

Woo, dragon age for 15. Took it to Guest Services, asked if they could do a price adjustment. She tried, it wouldn't let her, so she (not me) suggested return rebuy. Original price, 60. In and out in under 5 minutes.

Obviously a big YMMV - I can't guarantee that'll work for everyone, but it sure did for me :)

Didnt think it would dip so low. Lucky you found one at that price!;)

I just found a copy of :psp:Mortal Kombat: Unchained $3.74.

The store on Philadelphia in Chino had these today:
:360: Rock Band: Van Halen $12.98
:360: Rock Band: Green Day $9.98
:360: Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from L.C. $7.48
:360: WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010 $7.48
:ps3: D.J. Hero $12.48

The Mortal Kombat was in the normal case w/ the PSP Go. It had no sticker but had it scanned and grabbed it cheap. They only had 1 or 2 copies of the games listed above. Also the clearance section is on a back by the dvds.

I got the Red Steel 2 bundle for $9.98, but I'm not sure if it's worth keeping since it'd have to get in line behind the rest of my backlog.

 Just checked the "Find in Store" tool and it's listed as "Out of Stock."
Bayonetta for $41.98. Old target is behind the times, shocking.
Come on man, Target is probably the last best place for clearance right now. No other retailer even comes close when it comes to clearance. Just cause they have one game that's completely out of whack doesn't mean anything.

Trauma team wasn't heavily stocked around here to begin with. I don't think that game is gonna make it to $10 but i'll keep my fingers crossed. Another place it's hit clearance is TRU.

Saw the following, sorry if there are some repeats I don't have time to see if they've been posted in the last few pages:

:360:
Guitar Hero: Van Halen - $12.98
:360: Beatles: Rock Band - $20.98
:360:
WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010 - $7.48
:360: Band Hero - $9.98
:360: BackBreaker - $9.98
:360: UFC Undisputed 2010 - $7.48
:360: Naughty Bear - $34.98 (somehow one of the targets in my area never got around to clearancing these before)
:360:Bayonetta - $41.98
:wii:Despicable Me - $20.98
:wii: Alice in Wonderland $20.98
:ds: Harry Potter Lego with Lego Figure - $20.98
Found GTA episodes(360) for $7.48 abd Oblivion but they didnt have it in the system anymore so I didnt buy anything.
Even though it's not "in the system" they'll still sell it to you. They'll sell it for the last known price. I'm assuming that'd be 75% off.

2 questions, 1 to the NYCers:

1)Is fallout 3 goty worth getting? I have to finish Halo Reach, AC:B and Mass Effect 2? Also, is it worth getting the cerebreus network? What does it do?

2)Any games worth finding in target's here?

3) Anyone find DA:O for for $15 in western NJ/Eastern PA along I-80?

Found a ton of new games at my local Target, of course they're all just starting the clearance rounds, but given how it was barren last week I'm relieved they're restocking. Of course I can't remember the majority of them and was in a huge rush to get to work. Some old ones like Bayonetta and Naughty Bear that for whatever reason my Target never got around to clearancing, (and Rock Band Beatles AGAIN, which my Target clearanced out at $9.99, brought more in, and are now re-starting them on clearance again) but some I didn't remember seeing before.

I do remember

PSP MX vs ATV Reflex $13.98
PSP Assassin's Creed Bloodlines $13.98 (lots of copies, hoping for one more drop)

Thanks...only 2 of those werent updates or new games....

Snagged a :ps3: Fallout 3 GOTY for 12.48 today. Thanks gang.

Curious tho, is there a decent amount of early 2011 releases lined up? I ask cuz my Target's plastic prisons are only about half full, at least for ps3, and the gaming section is looking pretty barren all together :whistle2:s

I snagged Red Steel 2 w/ Wii Motion Plus for $9.98 and Jak 4 for $7.XX. I spotted Trauma Team for $27.98, marked down 30%. I'm hoping that lasts a while.

For the record, the online Target Item finder does not always account for everything. When I saw Trauma Team listed as being on clearance, I immediately used the tool, and said there were none in my areas of about 12 stores or so.

I went to one of the stores that was supposed to have no stock and I saw at least 4 Trauma Teams for $27.98. Now I play the waiting game--though I'll bite as soon as they get near $20.

The Target stores around here seem to zero out their inventory for clearance items. The scanners will say none in stock, but I'll have 5 of them in my hand
