Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
Why would you complain about that? The game will sit there unbought labeled at $80 while you know the real price using the scanners. I wish my store put all the clearance games locked up with incorrect prices to keep away the clearance cougars, thieves, and resellers.
Um, no? It's under lock so only employee can scan it, I can't. This store doesn't have numbers on the self scanners, have to physically scan something. Also, the employee did it ON PURPOSE. He gets first dibs when it lowers in price, because he knowingly marked it as a false price. It used to have the clearance sticker on it, which he removed so no one would buy it at 50% off. Then the second it hits 75% off, he buys it. Just as bad as a hider, imo

^No upc to scan because it is locked in a case? No problem.

Just look up the upc code upcdatabase or some similar website. Print out your own upc bar code to scan at the price/self scanners.
All these deals are YMMV. I live in the Detroit area and there are 4 Targets within a 10 mile radius. 2 have good clearance cycles and 1 never seems to have any. I found in my area the newer Target stores have clearance endcaps and bins, whereas the older ones don't have much and they're mostly in "glass prisons." But again YMMV
Thanks for the response. We only have two Target stores here in Reno. I only checked one, but gave in and got the game last weekend during Gamestop's buy two used get one free sale. Paid $44.00 for it I think.

Got Animal Crossing: City Folk for $12.xx last night. I probably won't ever touch it, but might kids might. That was a price I couldn't pass on.

I find it amusing how everytime I come into this thread, there's always someone mentioning how stuff is being hid at Target. Like all the employees at every location are in collusion to screw every CAG out of getting clearance shit. Every one of them. Because it's not like there are other shoppers who go to Target, who could potentially have the same knowledge of these clearances, especially when it's readily available on the internet.
$24.98 should be the lowest it will go, if they last that long. Most Targets near me sold out at $84.98 and $69.98. I found one today locked up and without a shelf tag or price tag. It was $49.98 and I bought it since I figured it may not go to $24.98 for a couple of weeks and it was the last one and Toy Story 3 was included.
If it hit 15% first, which would be the $84.98 price, then $49.98 would be the lowest price at most Targets. There are 3 common clearance cycles: 15>30>50 for food and big electronics. 50>75>90 for holiday items. 30>50>75 for mostly everything else, with an incredibly rare 85/90 showing up every blue moon.
Based on what I read on the SD thread, some have bought one at sites that showed none listed. Also, note limited could mean an employee holding one for themselves too. So it goes both ways.
Absolutely. People have been known to hide games, or tape them under counters :) so they still show up as limited availability. The Find it at Store link is just a tool and I wouldn't rely on it 100% but it is extremely useful and better than calling.

While not officially 'on clearance' as of yet, I saw NCF(no carry forward) labels for TWO PS3 game systems/bundles when I went to pick up the $50 Toy Story 3 PS2 bundle this afternoon at the other local Target by me.

Judging by how it was positioned in the case(sideways) and the fact that the price sticker on the front of it still said $84.98, I probably could've left it there in the case and it would've been safe till 75%(or the new highest percentage I've seen, 85%) off most likely.

Anyway, here's the DPCI #'s for the two PS3 bundles I saw the NCF tags for today.

[207-23-0017] :ps3:160gb Holiday Bundle
[207-23-0016] :ps3:Toy Story 3 320gb Bundle

Again, these are likely NOT on clearance as of yet, but will most likely be put into the drop cycle at some point.

So the price is already $84.88 currently? Thanks a lot for the information.

Was it taped under the counter? If it was that kid and his mom are going to be pissed.

The price marked on the PS2 bundle I picked up earlier today was $84.98, but the PS3 bundles have NOT hit clearance as of yet.

They probably will though, as those NCF tags are a precursor to the beginning of the clearance cycle starting.
Whaaaa???? DPCI please??
Anyone have a DCPI for the :ps3: version please?

So i went to one of my targets that has the old DCPI version of Heavy Rain and i was looking at the clearance end caps but instead it was inside the locked case, i want to go back and check the price with the printed barcode but really don't want to make the drive just to do that. Does the old non-GH version mean it'll be below the $30 mark for sure? Because as long as it's $20 or i have a thought it's $20 i'm going to buy it. TIA

I still can't believe that the PS2 is holding fast at $100 MSRP. It shouldn't take a Target clearance to drop them to $50.

I'm just saying this because I need a replacement, and have needed one for upwards of 3 years!

Why not try Craigslist in your area? You might be able to find a cheap used one for $30-40 with some games and extra controllers. I tried that around here but people on my local CL like pricing them at MSRP or close.

Also, have you tried getting the PS2's at your Target scanned or using the DPCI number pad on the right side of the newer type of scanners? If not then just copy down the numbers from the OP for each of the PS2's on clearance and do that, as the one I bought was still marked $84.98 when I bought it.

What's wrong with your console that you need a replacement though?

Disc Read Error? If so, Google how to fix it. It's pretty easy in most cases, as it's usually just a dirty/dusty lens. If it's a slim PS2, then just pop the lid open, wipe down the lens and you should be good to go.;)

They're holding because PS3s are not backwards compatible and well, the PS2 library is easily one of the best libraries ever put together in gaming history.

IIRC, don't we live around the same area? I'm in the San Fernando Valley. Haven't seen anything good on CL. I've checked about 6 of the Targets around me, but it looks like they've all sold out long ago at the $85 price.

My 2001 fat PS2 is kaput. I did the DRE fix (lens wipe and/or height adjust) about every 3 months for about 4 years. Finally stopped working altogether, no matter how much I tried to coax it. Just never got around to replacing it once the current gen consoles took up my time.

Well NCF stands for No Carry Forward, so it might just mean they will not be ordering anymore PS3 holiday bundles (obviously) and not necessarily will put them on clearance.

Not unless I suddenly moved to the West Coast. I'm on the opposite coast.;) As for the height adjustment thing, I would've most likely just replaced the lens rather than putting it any closer to the discs. Around the time you said it was completely kaput PS2 lasers were going for about $20-40 or so.

You would just have had to take out a few more screws(after taking out the disc tray), take the old lens off the rails and replaced it with a new one. I've done it multiple times for friends. It's about a 30 minute job and well worth it instead of tweaking the level and cleaning the lens every so often. It's just much easier and more cost effective to replace the lens.

That could also be true, but from what I've seen a majority of NCF stuff does end up clearanced. But you never know.

Of course, the consoles/bundles will be gone at 10-30% off if they do hit clearance.

There was at the West Nashville Target yesterday for $50. So the drop is out there. This Target is usually pretty slow to get the good drops. I haven't found anything good there on clearance in a long time.

Exactly. As long as the current PS3s don't have backwards compatibility there will be a demand for PS2 systems.

Sony is going to milk that cash cow for every cent its worth.

Ah, I must have confused you with someone else. My mistake!

I always meant to look into just replacing the lens, but again, never got around to doing it. I guess I thought (incorrectly) that the slim PS2s would drop quickly enough to make buying a replacement a more palatable solution. Any good leads on where I should look for a lens nowadays?

Not offhand, but just Google PS2 replacement laser and you should get more than enough results to get you started.

I used to have a bunch of sites favorite placed, but not anymore.

Thing is, you'll need a lens that'll fit your specific model, so you might want to try Googling replacement laser and your PS2's model #(SCPH-30001, etc).

Not much clearance games around my area. I did see :360: Castlevania:Lord of Shadows for $24.98 and :ps3: RockBand3 for $19.99 (new MSRP?)

ok my previous posts were wrong (crazedracerguy was right) the store near me has 40-50dsi xl's at $125.98 and they said that it's currently at 30% of and the next is 50% but they don't know when that is. SO if any CAGers (especially those that work at target) know when the next price drop is that would be super! since you guys are awesome im sure some one will post when they see it but advance notice is nice.

If you are interested in this bundle I would buy it since they will go fast. Depending on your area most items go super fast. I have seen clearance items that had 20+ copies in stock & gone 2 days later. Don't forget about the hoarder or the soccer mom. Last time I was at a Target I walked up to the clearance section & the look on this ladies face was priceless. She gave me a look that was all stern and serious like I wasn't allowed to browse the section.

Well I was talking to one of the guys and their only putting 1-2 out at a time and I spoke to a few employees (on different days) and they were all sure these would be there for a while. So im gonna wait....for now

It says available not limited availability so that's good...but the dcpi is just like the sku right? No way to know if this store is lowering it?

fuck it I'll leave now and be late to work lol

some guy said they were "sold out" of them, even though the DCPI check said they had it

Either slick deals people raided the place yesterday or the employee didnt want to sell them...
What's limited availability mean? The one target near my house says that...
Under 4 if I recall. If you think its worth it; then go. Honestly speaking most times you will see this but its not always accurate. Sometimes theres also a "lost" copy. This could be hidden/in the back/ and for the sake of laughs taped under the desk.

about the DCPI its just a code that denotes what the item is. You can look up items online with it, and easily figure out how many are in your area.

The stock is not super accurate. In the end I would have just went and looked into it.
the store was in Flushing, NY btw...
is it true that you say that...

The item locator said that PSP deal is out of stock at my Target. :(

But, it might be worth going out there anyways just in case if it's wrong and pick one up with my $50 gift card (plus whatever extra) I was holding on for Skyward Sword when that comes out sometime this year.
