Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

when these were first released, my friend got one and mentioned "it does push out a lot of hot air, but that should be a good thing"
I'm not sure if this was meant sarcastically or not...but it's actually kinda true. Pushing out lots of hot air IS a good thing. It means that the hot air is no longer in that tiny plastic case melting the heat sink on the GPU which led to RRoD. The problem was that not enough hot air was being pushed out. The fans on the original 360 were inadequate. Microsoft starting adding more heat sinks inside the case to try to manage the internal temp. Helped...but not a 100% fix. The slim has it's own heat issues but by consuming less power they DO run cooler. Only liquid cooling would really manage the heat effectively...but that's too expensive for mass production at a reasonable price.

I have both systems and the PS3 produces a lot of heat too. I think the internal architecture is better in the PS3 though and there is a lower chance of heat-related failures. Lower chance...but it still happens.

The huge cracking noise the PS3 slim makes from expanding a bit from heat still freaks me out though.

I guess I haven't noticed this sound...or I haven't heard it yet. To be fair my PS3 is tucked BEHIND my LCD though...so the sound of the game could be drowning out the "cracking noise". I just know that the back of my slim get's hotter than the back of my 1st gen 360. I've actually burnt my finger on the vents on the PS3...still haven't done that with the 360. I've had to send in my 360 for repair 3 times though...and the PS3 Slim has been running fine for over two years now. Just my personal experience. Sony has the better hardware but Microsoft has the better software (software as in dashboard, online experience, marketplace...not the games people).
At all the stores in my city, they're mostly put on a endcap. However I have also found them in the prison before also, but this is kinda rare.
ah okay. ty!
Depending on how badly you want it, amazon is selling them for 30 new at the moment, actually I think the ps3 version is 27.xx. I am tempted at that price, but I didn't really like the game all that much, I would be more interested in USB drive than the game haha.
FYI - The USB drive is really ugly.
I wasn't crazy about Force Unleashed II either, especially at that price. (I upset a big fan of the game with my review actually)

Managed to snag a TomTom GPS for $29.98. I moved to a new state a few months ago so this will be a huge help. Snagged another one for my dad who has the directional sense of a drunk toddler, man gets lost in a Wal Mart.
Do you have the DCPI on that TomTom? I'm think of getting one for someone's birthday coming up.

Has anyone else seen the Rebel T3 kit in their stores?

Said online item on the sticker but we know how they sometimes just use those stickers when it wasn't really an online return. Saw two of them and picked one up at $420.

Would be crazy if it wen to 40 or 50%.

Today was a pretty awesome day--I managed to return/rebuy the PS2 Slim I originally bought last month at $69.98, paying the now-standard $49.98. Feels good to save that extra $20! :bouncy:

I saw two at a store near me, also with an "online" tag at $420.

I wonder if it will drop lower.
I saw 2 PS2 with tags for $70. May have to reconsider...

I considered it but didn't want to get ripped off selling it on ebay so I just grabbed one for the gf. pretty good entry level dslr from what i have read on the reviews. Can't beat 30% off out of the gate.

Also, i think since it's an "online item" and not a clearance, it won't drop any further. So I gotta settle for 30%.

Yeah. So if they have it, it's $420? Hmm.. I have a friend looking for a DSLR for his finance, so I'll have to tell him about these. (I already have a 40d)

EDIT: foo, do you have a DPCI for it? Thanks!

If I were you I'd asked a sales associate who's not lazy to price check it. I went to one Target & it was down to 50, so I tried another Target near my house. My brother & a friend wanted 1 as well. So I asked a someone to check & she tells me whatever the red tag says is the current price for it. 2 days later I just happen to be at Target. I noticed the PS2 are facing down now where you can't see the tags. So I asked an employee to check for me. Sticker says 89.96, but when scanned the price was about 50. My guess is an employee was trying to hide it.

Thanks! I already found it on SD, but it still won't show up in the DPCI tracker anyways since it's an online item DPCI. (in store it'd be 056-10-xxxx)

The online items/not sold in that store tag generates an entirely new upc/dpci for the item. The price will also never change since the new upc is never considered by the price change team making the price on the tag the only and ever price you will ever see on an item like that. Example of the most common circumstance is when Target receives a food shipment with food that isnt sold in the store. The price change team creates an online sticker which allows the item to now be sold in store at the tagged price and since its such a rare circumstance its assumes the item will sell or eventually be destroyed. Dont wait for a price change, it wont ever happen if the item has a red tag generated upc (online only).

This is an FYI for those looking for such items, im aware some of you are familiar with the process.

What about repackaged? One store I go to had about 30 Toy Story 3 blu-ray+buzz figure bundles that for a while were tagged as repackaged. Will those ever change? (they went from regular on the shelf to on the same shelf with a repack tag)

Repackage is generally used to signify an item that was opened by a customer on the floor who may have ignorantly damaged the packaging (happens all the time, people like to open crap and break the packaging. Since its no longer new and cant be sold as such "repackage" allows them to sell it under a new DPCI at a discounted rate, could also be a return but 99% of the time that's sent back to the manufacturer so we claim full price on a "credit"). Although it seems in your case which inst unheard of the price change team has used "repackage" in the same theory as an "online only item" in my explanation above. Unfortunately this also means they used this technique to give the item a new DPCI (or UPC) that wont reflect in any report leaving that item/price in a sort of limbo for an undetermined/ infinite amount of time. AKA its never going to change in price just eventually disappear from the floor.

Simply, If you read the writing on the tag, if it says CLEARANCE the price will drop to a certain point then be destroyed/ sent back to the company. If the tag says ONLINE ITEM/ONLINE ONLY or REPACKAGE that price is never going to change, it will only eventually be destroyed/ sent back. Technically for maximum discount in theory which some of you may have discovered occurs when you return a CLEARANCE item. At this point some stores if they decided for some reason (usually to be safe and not resell and opened item) to put it back on the floor as REPACKAGE the item then will take the returned CLEARANCE price then discount it for REPACKAGE. Ex. a $20 game is 50% off making it $9.98 then the repackage usually knocks something like 30% off making the total now $6.99. (Sorry the percentages are correct in my theory but excuse my math ive been drinking =])

This isn't really clearance- but the regular edition of Borderlands (360) is in the pile of games they sell at the front checkout for 12.99 this week.

Still one PS2 at my Target at $50. They just finally sold the other one they had since the price dropped to that about 2 weeks ago. I'm really hoping it is still there on Monday since I'm guessing it might be time for the last drop.

Does anyone have the DCPI for the 2 PSP bundles that are on clearance? They aren't in the Wiki... I have a trip today and was wondering if it was worth it to make a stop at any of the targets on the way... TIA

The DPCI for the Little Big Planet bundle is in this thread somewhere.

For the Assassin's Creed and Hannah Montana bundles, my Target had them both under one DPCI -- 207-19-0069

How did you get them to do a return/rebuy at the customer service desk? Or what is the best way to do a return/rebuy without getting denied?

Target in Smyrna, Georgia, had them for $3.74. Just vanilla edition.
If they were selling Borderlands: GOTY Edition for $12.99, THAT would be quite a deal.

Just got a 18.5" widescreen Acer open box monitor for $30

Holy ginormous pictures, Batman.

Someone alert a mod to give those pics the Gargus treatment ala La Cucaracha El Gamestopo.;)

I finally cracked open the PS2 slim I bought a week or two ago to check and make sure the serial # matched the one on the outside of the box and it did thankfully.:D

Eh don't sweat it... I'm sure they are joking. I'd rather have seen a ginormous pic than the typical low quality ones that aren't even legible.

I just find it funny that your kid gets the cart basket treatment over the TV.

I'd pick that up if I were you. The PS2s near my area are all gone. $50 was the price point.

Found someone's stash today in sporting goods. 60 GB 360 HDD for $24.98. Won't fit on a new slim model but might pick up an older system around $130 sometime soon.

Also had lots of copies of Animal Crossing Wii $12.48 as well as Pokemon Silver/Gold ds stylus accessory packs for $3.xx ...might go back if they drop in price.

Scored a wireless Lexmark scanner/printer for $22.48...overall a good trip.

To make the matter clear on instant substitutes 'Instocks' team members traditionally set up rain checks and choose the items for instant substitutes. Other team members may occasionally set up rain checks or instant substitutes but it is a responsibility for an Instocks team member. We typically don't receive a list of set items to substitute, the item just has to be from the same department and not already on sale. Also, team members typically don't need to have an instant substitute approved by a manager as they set up instant substitutes on a daily basis.

An instant substitute just applies the percentage off the out of stock item to the substitute.
Target is closed on easter? Who knew?
I didn't. I was over at the mall to meet for a CL deal, and everything was closed except GS, TRU, and Big Lots when it came to retail.
