Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Looking at what games passed the greenlight flag, I'm sad that I never heard of a greenlight bundle. And you could pick out your own games? Darnit :(
"Sega Complete Jan 2013 Retail" has appeared in the Steam Registry:

Also it apparently includes Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast which has actually been removed from the Steam store.
Even though I own what seems like around half those games, for the right price, I'd probably buy it, since there are quite a few games I'd like to have in there. Hopefully something like that will be 75% off in the summer sale.

I own most of them too but there's something about having the whole collection!

You, sir, are an addict. Flag down a police officer and surrender yourself to the Deal Police immediately. They will escort you to a Holding Area for fellow addicts where you will enjoy tea and crumpets while electro-shock corrects the chemical imbalance that makes you want to buy complete sets without deals when you own "most" of the games included with the set.

Thank you for your cooperation. Have a wonderful day.

This message is an automated message from the Deal Police. If you think this message was generated in error, please report the error to yo' momma. :D
My hope is that maybe there will be an upcoming Sega publisher week sale? 75% off Alpha Protocol, make it happen!
Wise men talk of a day when wild beasts roamed the land, where the sky would span flawlessly over a cloudless horizon, and Alpha Protocol would be on sale for 90% off.

Legends and myths, obviously.

New Indie Royale Snow Storm bundle is live. Includes Resonance (which people were talking about during the Xmas sale) and Hinterland (which I really, really liked for some reason). And some other stuff.

I would say this is a better offering than their last few bundles but I just can't bring myself to buy it still. I really only want Resonance but the other games don't seem bad.

Bleh, I should have just picked up Resonance during the sale. The only other game I have any interest in is Roboblitz which I already own.
Okay I bit on Resonance, thereby guaranteeing its inclusion in a bundle within four months. You're welcome, CAG.
You're welcome again, CAG.
Ok, not to bring this up for the umpteenth time but I've been working a TON lately...

What happened to Motoki?
Banned due to offensive PM, apparently.

Good to see a good bundle again, and the first one that I didn;t own any of the games (with the exception of Resonance on GOG - but it's great to have it on Steam now)
Bought the new IR Bundle for Hinterland. The rest is just a bonus.
Problem for me is I got Hinterland from a previous Indie Royale, and I have Roboblitz. Only game I want is Resonance.

Lurked.

Everyone should try this key, then click the "Retrieve Account" button multiple times. It's the least we can do for some douche who wants to redeem keys and not say thanks.

Wish I was home to try this. It's the only thing I want and don't have in the bundle.

Sorry y'all. I should have given it to the first pm or something. I was just in a hurry.
It was on sale for $2 a couple of years ago but I missed it.
Has it been a couple of years already? I got in on that deal, but I haven't touched the game beyond the opening cutscene.
Wow, guess there's no "I wonder who reported me" there :p
Nope. It's been well documented over the last few pages. When I talked to him on Steam, he didn't seem too busted up over it.

grabbed the royale as well for 4.89
ive been curious about hinterland ever since it first came out. i have a thing for anything that even slightly resembles a diablo-like game.
also i wanted roboblitz ever since i passed on it from an early indiagala bundle.
Rosonance looks nice. the art style looks real similar to that of Gemini Rue. I should probably finish that first.

As well as the unavailable Football Manager 2008 (and Futbol Manager 2008 and Worldwide Soccer Manager 2008), Football Manager 2009, Football Manager 2012, Football Manager Live, Beijing Olympics 2008, Vancouver 2010, Happy Tree Friends, Iron Man, SEGA Rally, SEGA Rally Revo, Golden Compass, Incredible Hulk, and the currently-in-Beta "ValveTestApp4740".

If this gets released to the public I would be incredibly (but pleasantly) surprised.

I imagine that Sega thing is just an update for bug testing/ Sega's own purposes, the way Valve employees get every game too. They're legally not allowed to sell a lot of those games anymore.

that just looks like a bunch of trash

Won this game and kinda wish I hadn't. Played about a fourth of it, and now it's been shoved to the bottom of my backlog. The game runs just fine, but there's just so many better platformers out there.
GreenManGaming just had Sugar Cube for $1.90 a couple days ago, which is when I picked it up.
I saw it on there, but didn't check if it was Steam or not. Looked like an interestingly themed platformer.
I imagine that Sega thing is just an update since The Cave is published by Sega and it's finalized release date was just revealed as this month.
Sega's usual complimentary subscriptions have been updated to include The Cave. This sub was just created (yet doesn't include The Cave...or many other Sega games), and includes too much weird stuff to suggest it is a promotion/prize that Sega would ask to be compiled.
that just looks like a bunch of trash
Ahh, but a bunch of unavailable trash.

Also, has the Daily Deal ever been this sweet?

Yes. I assumed that by "just an update" you were referring to updating a publisher's comp. sub.
I added to promotional part for those who might think that this new pack could be similar in purpose to the old "SEGA All Pack - Retro Prize".

Upon actually looking at the games in the Retro Prize, I see it included the same junk. Who knows?
Going through past bundles. Found some freebies...

Brazen Prototype:

Thanks, I redeemed the last code for Brazen. What bundle was this in? I don't recall seeing it, but the video from Youtube looks cool for a prototype.

wow that brazen prototype looks good. i only played the Hack n Slash prototype. i didnt really enjoy it and assumed the rest of the prototypes were of similar quality. bad assumption
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition now out
http://store.steampowered.com/app/228280/

but ZOINKS! look at the price tag.
It's the same price if you buy it directly from their site. Hell, I think even the regular "disk" editions of the 4-in-1 box set still sells for $15 on Amazon. Seems like a good deal at $20, though I might wait til the Summer sale. :)

Everything I've read -- from reliable sources -- seems to indicate it doesn't offer much more over the original game with mods.

JakeNome was kind enough to notify me of Chivalry being $10 on GMG (10 euros here unfortunately). I also noticed Krater for 3,8 euros. It looks a lot like a Diablo-type game. Does anyone know if it's as fun? It looks interesting.
