Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
I was able to get the Bethesda Pack from a fellow CAG. I already have a huge backlog, and I know I want to keep Skyrim and Dishonored. Are the other games worth keeping? Or should I just sell them to for $15-20 or so. Also, would it be fine if I sold SR3 for the Humble Bundle for $3 or so, because I would rather get it off of Steam with all the DLC. I remember it being frowned upon previously when people were reselling the bundle.
the fallouts are worth keeping and maybe doom 3

Most of the games are solid enough. I don't know if there's a big market for the rest at 20 bucks without the two most notable items from the package. Most of the good games are on sale frequently for 75 percent off and a pretty large chunk of traders probably have a few of them. I'd save yourself the hassle and just redeem them.

LOL, if you buy the Anno 2070 Pack it comes with the "distrust series package". Ouch :applause:

I'll wait for the Anno 2070 Gold edition. If Ubisoft follows true to Anno 1404 they'll remove the DRM.

Killing Floor is pretty boring solo, I wouldn't bother. That said, the community is pretty nice so you shouldn't have any reservations about jumping in a game so long as you start out on the lower difficulties.

1404 DRM was only removed for the retail disc. The digital version still has it.

It's been a over year and they haven't even lowered the MSRP on 2070. Not holding my breath for the DRM to go anytime soon.

The games I actually want to buy this sale have almost no chance to be daily/flash deals. Magical Diary and Cherry Tree High Comedy Club for 75% off.
Think Killing Floor would still be fun solo? My girlfriend won't go for the gory gruesome games, and I don't really have PC gaming friends, they're all Xbox.
In the words of GreatDoink "pimp out your [Steam] name" and get some friend invites!

The publisher said they will be 50% off all sale, so more than almost no chance.

They have no chance of being 75 percent off simply because they're published by Capcom (yes I'm aware I'm saying this on a day where there's a daily Capcom 75 percent off sale).

Niche titles you just have to not listen to your inner CAG sometimes. Some might be 75 percent off the entire sale, sure. But Capcom never defaults to 75 percent, and it's highly unlikely to see either of those games get a daily or flash sale in any event. Or hell, even a Midweek or Weekend. All you can do is maybe hope for a normal daily deal. And even then it'll probably be 50 percent again.

Yeah, thanks I forgot to mention I bought the retail version of 1404 Gold. I think they removed the DRM because they stopped supporting the game.

Well that is disappointing. I was hoping Magical Diary would reach the golden percentage. Looks like I'll have to keep waiting.

Tempted by chivalry but will likely wait til I see all the deals between now and when its just about to go off sale before I decide if I will bite.

I've been watching it too. I'm almost ready to say to hell with it and just buy it with a lesser discount but if I do that I will feel compelled to play it right away. :p

Of course if I do that it will end up in a bundle next week.

Do they have a promotion going on or something? I've got a bunch of 360 games that I now own on Steam, just trying to figure out the best way to get rid of them.

Ah, I figured Oblivion, Morrowind, Fallouts, and Doom were worth 15 ish. I don't really mind already a great deal, but I know I won't be going backwards and playing the older Elder Scroll games and probably wouldn't get into Doom or Rage either.

I sent you a PM regarding those games. :)

It's a good deal if you can find someone without them all, which might be hard. If you do want to sell you're likely better off just selling on a game by game basis.

Gamestop has their 30% extra promotion going on when you trade games for Steam Wallet.

Every time I see that game mentioned my eyes always want to read it as Skank.

FWIW Morrowind is still my favorite ES game and I know a lot of other people feel that way. It's very unique. Now straight vanilla Morrowind looks dated as hell but if you mod the hell out of it it actually looks pretty good.

Bethesda also went back and added cloud save to both Morrowind and Oblivion last year which is pretty cool considering how old they are to have new features added.

After all the accolades and praise this game has gotten, I decide to finally get The Walking Dead for $12.49. It looks like it's going to be a red Christmas for me.
Trying to remember. Was there supposed to be a deal on the Daedalic Bundle?

Well at least one of those games was up for a vote (and lost) to go on a 75% discount so there's potential for them to go slightly cheaper.
Legends of Dawn (almost complete open world ARPG) added to Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=115315981
Next stop greenlight bundle.

I hope.
It isn't a bug. It technically is working as designed. The problem is, there's no way to toggle it on/off, and it essentially destroys any sense of balance in the game. Not to mention, you lose an absolute ton of animation when interacting with other characters, because it will always default to the blood sucking. No more kicking people in the crotch, or faceplanting them into the asphalt, or body slamming them, or anything else. I still can't believe they couldn't be arsed to go back and add some sort of option/toggle for it.

edit: none of the other add-ons are like this, btw, they might be a little unbalanced, but this one is gamebreaking in so many ways
Can someone tell me how to check whether my SR3 has the bloodsucker pack?
I just started my pack I bought in previous sale, and would like to avoid it from the start. Thanks.:D

Right-click shortcut in Steam - hit "View Downloadable Content"
If you see "Bloodsucker Pack" install that Mod asheskitty posted & you're gtg.
I can't help but feel like I'm watching a bad porno when it cuts to the scenes of the lady.
Did she actually work on the game or is she just the spokesperson? I kind of get the feeling she's the spokesperson because they though it would be better to get a hot chick to present their game. I actually think it would be cool if she, and more women in general, did work on games.

Some of those RPGs that come out of Europe like the Witcher and Risen series can be cringeworthily sexist at times.

Yep, another day of disappointing Steam deals.

I guess they took Origin's criticism to heart that they were offering too good of deals...

So, like everything that goes wrong in gaming, I blame EA.

They obviously tried to put her in front of the camera as much as possible.
After your mention, I decided to back this one. Glad to see it on Greenlight.
Cool. What really appeals to me is that there's no level-scaling. I miss games where you could wander into areas and get your head kicked in so that you have to make a mental note to come back and explore it later or try to finesse your way past the enemies and explore.

Speaking of which, I'd just like to point out that EA's Origin download servers are slow as hell for me. Like 1990s or Strategy First slow.

I've been downloading the Command and Conquer collection (thank you Gamersgate for being incompetent two nights in a row and to the person who so graciously sold his copy to me) ALL DAMNED DAY.

You would think with all of EA's resources that they could, you know, download at a decent speed.

Then again, I'm kind of glad in a perverse way because it vindicates my (mostly) boycotting of Origin. :p
Think Killing Floor would still be fun solo? My girlfriend won't go for the gory gruesome games, and I don't really have PC gaming friends, they're all Xbox.
As Englando IV and Mooby said, no. Solo gets boring really quickly since it's harder and lacks the teamwork vibe. However, there are still quite a few servers still up, and I usually don't have any problem finding a game (and it should be even easier if you're in the US or Europe.)

You probably do. The last few SR3 packs (including the one that was ~$10 in Aussie) did include it.

You can check by right-clicking the game in your library and choosing "View Downloadable Content". For me, the bloodsucker pack was the second one on the list.

Yep, that's only thing I dislike about Origin and for that matter Amazon downloads as well. Earlier this year, I had better speeds with Origin, but in the past two months it's been plain brutal.

I disagree. SSF4, Portals, and Saints Row Complete are all great deals. Not much they can do if you already own all of the good games on Steam or are picky on the genres you like.

Hence the petition for Rockstar to put GTA5 on PC - its no longer a given.

First I've known about this. They made a decent amount of money on San Andreas and IV, and there's the whole mod community, too. What's the point of limiting development to old hardware, especially with so many people willing to make mods to make their games even better?

We all feel your pain. I have it on xbox but I would buy it for the PC in a heart beat...
