Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Supposedly you have 10 days to finalize the order and pay for it.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I think I'm going to start with 2008 to get into the series, then head back and play Sands of Time -> Warrior Within -> Two Thrones -> Forgotten Sands
Don't do that. The '08 one isn't as good as the original trilogy, and Forgotten Sands isn't great either. Play Sands of Time first, it's critically acclaimed and it still holds up. I bought it during the sale too, it still looks really damn good, and the gameplay is still fun. Graphically the game is pretty stylized, and I think it looks a little bit like a Disney movie (a good thing.) They didn't try to make the graphics realistic and it still looks good because of that.
So question for those that were able to grab the Bethesda pack. I had the package ordered and a confirmation email from them just needed to go through paypal to finalize the sale. I was never able to get it to go through. But I still have the email and the package is still there on my account saying pending. Would I still be able to checkout with it and finalize the sale with paypal now the site is back up??
In theory yes. However since this was such a high profile frak up I don't know if they would block people who haven't already paid.

You could try.
Same here :).

It isn't a bug. It technically is working as designed. The problem is, there's no way to toggle it on/off, and it essentially destroys any sense of balance in the game. Not to mention, you lose an absolute ton of animation when interacting with other characters, because it will always default to the blood sucking. No more kicking people in the crotch, or faceplanting them into the asphalt, or body slamming them, or anything else. I still can't believe they couldn't be arsed to go back and add some sort of option/toggle for it.

edit: none of the other add-ons are like this, btw, they might be a little unbalanced, but this one is gamebreaking in so many ways
Thanks for this. Am I missing something or is this pack not include in The Full Package? Are the other packs enjoyable? I only have the base game and was debating whether to grab this for all the DLC.

Gotcha, pausing the download of 2008 and downloading Sands of Time first :)

I attempted to play Prince of Persia.... but never really got the 360 controller working and the graphics were not right. Maybe I'll try to fix it...
What I've started doing is buying things as gifts or keeping the Steam keys in a spreadsheet until I'm ready to play it. It reduces some of the feeling of waste when it comes time to buy a bundle on Steam or activate a Humble Bundle code. Then I can always give the extra games away to my gf or my brother or potentially resell them as well to recover some of the cost.
That's the thing, though - I already finished SR:TT base game & played the living crap out of it ASAP. :whistle2:X

But yeah - you got a good idea, if I don't plan to play a Steam game soon - don't activate it. That way, if I have say Base Game and say some kind of Complete Pack, I could giveaway/trade Base Game key.
Gotcha, pausing the download of 2008 and downloading Sands of Time first :)
Are there any mods for the Prince of Persia games I should be running...

Sands of Time only supports a max resolution of 1280x960 lol

Yep, I also don't buy base games that have lots of DLC out or anticipated for it unless I plan on playing the hell out of it and then I don't mind picking up the DLC by itself since I feel I already got my moneys worth from the base game. So far though the only game I've justified doing that for recently is Borderlands 2

Unlock the Uplay Assassin robe asap in Forgotten Sands, I played through that game with it on from the beginning and it played like a simplified Assassin's Creed. I enjoyed it until the end when I got frustrated with one platforming sequence and gave up. The water freezing stuff is very clever.
Gotcha, pausing the download of 2008 and downloading Sands of Time first :)
That's good to hear - I'm extremely fond of Sands of Time, and, like others, I believe it has held up well over time.

Despite the fact that I'm a fan of the original Prince of Persia as well as Sands of Time, I've tried every other main title in the series only to give up on them early on. There's something about them, from Warrior Within to 2008 and Forgotten Sands, and I just don't find myself as thrilled about the gameplay and design as before. However, I can start up Prince of Persia or Sands of Time and play them without feeling bored.

I have no idea what's wrong with me, in that regard.

Interesting, I don't see it in there now. Maybe they took it out after the Summer Sale and everyone complaining? I dunno. I guess you can be our guinea pig! But if it does end up being in there, a mod can be used to disable it.
Going to wait till the last hour to get saints row by the way is there online multiplayer? people still playing it?
SRTT is co-op. And given that it was included in the THQ bundle as a BTA, I am betting a shitload of people are still playing it.

Ace of Spades is a lot of fun. It is very satisfying to dig around to by pass areas and make tunnels to other sides of the map from your spawn and by the end of the games the maps are pretty beat up from everyone shooting one another and destroying everything lol
The dildo bat was something I outgrew very quickly, though I did have to show my gf just for the lulz

Upgrading your pistols to highest rank though, with the explosive bullets, made the game so much more fun for me.
Upgraded pistols rock. I'll never outgrow the dildo bat. I want one as wobby IRL. I did all the assassination missions with the dildobat. I should post a screenshot sometime with my toon.
To counter that just a wee bit I will say that some people aren't particularly arsed with a challenge for SR3 and just want to run around beat people with giant dildos and otherwise experience completely ludicrous scenarios.

Just sayin'
^_^ I get that. It's a good game too. I just figured those people would start on easy (there is Easy, right?)
Lovely! :applause:

I was waiting to see if any more Mission Runway Beauties would show.
It took me a little to get a hang of the controls. From the zooming during accessorizing I figure no actual women were involved with the development of the game. However if I could make just one improvement, it would be to make the photoshoot lighting model actually functional. In photography, lighting is (almost) everything. Hmm DX11 tesselation would be pretty awesome for that as well.... I digress. I'll try to post a "hot or not" every day. =)
The judges universally panned my outfit. But somehow I got through the first round.
The judges are clearly part of the heteronormative conspiracy.

I'd make a mean comment, but who among us didn't mess around with the character customization options of Mass Effect or Saints Row for at least a few brief moments?
I liked everything but the Witch DLC, I found that to be way too short, and completely unnecessary.

Honestly? I didn't care for a lot of the DLC as much.
That Morrigan one is basically blablabla random people I don't care about blablabla reused areas, ohai Morrigan! THE END. To NOT be continued in Dragon Age 2
.
I'm in the minority here but I enjoyed "Witch Hunt." It brought a little more closure to the story with Morrigan than you got from the base game and it meant more because my first playthrough had the romance option with her.

Far and away, though, "Leliana's Song" was the best of the DLC content.
Is Dragon Age 2 worth avoiding if I enjoy the first? I know it's Origin and I'll hate signing up for another service. I'm pretty lazy and like everything in one spot (not a true CAG)...I repurchased some games I had back on DirectDrive along time ago...recently that were cheap haha

That's mostly what I heard in the past...that DA2 was basically a copy of DA1 since they just re-skinned the maps or whatever...
Just don't go into DA2 expecting it to be a Dragon Age game like the rest of us did. It's an okay standalone ARPG but it's a terrible follow-up to Origins, which was the closest modern fantasy RPGs have come in terms of mechanics to the BG or Gold Box series and which had great and mature in the sense of being adult stories (although it does pack in the trademark awkward Bioware nudity/sex scenes, which are as natural and erotic as watching LEGO porn).
Portal 2 or Dragon Age ultimate edition?
I haven't even played Portal 2 but, yeah, Dragon Age.
Interesting, I don't see it in there now. Maybe they took it out after the Summer Sale and everyone complaining? I dunno. I guess you can be our guinea pig! But if it does end up being in there, a mod can be used to disable it.
Do you actually have to use a mod? It was my understanding from other threads that you have to "activate" this like other kinds of cheats; is that not accurate? I wasn't sure which is why it's still sitting as a key in my inventory.
I'd make a mean comment, but who among us didn't mess around with the character customization options of Mass Effect or Saints Row for at least a few brief moments?
The first time I fired up Saints Row 3, I think I spent an hour customizing my character, then deciding it was time for bed LOL

That's the issue with the Bloodsucker Pack, there is no built in toggle. It is -not- activated from the phone-cheats-menu. Steam auto-installs all DLC, and SRTT isn't one of the few games that allows you to use with DLC to load.

Edit: And thowing human shields is always a blast, a later base-game upgrade allows you to throw farther =D -3vil-

Yeah, I probably spent an hour the first time -- I didn't realize everything was changeable later. I also think the SRTT character customization is the most fucking awesome I've seen. I also like how SRTT *doesn't* enforce gender stereotypes (e.g. these are mens hairstyles, these ware women's hairstyles) at all (e.g. you can make a butch dyke with a goatee).

Okay, good to know. In my inventory it will remain until I get through the story.

can anyone help me out?
I'm thinking of getting dawn of war 2 retribution
Is there any dlc for it in that $10 pack that is necessary?
or is it all just costumes and stuff?
I know I will only get around to playing retribution and not the others so if there is no good dlc i might just stick with the game itself for $7.50
I don't see that DLC in the list for the "full" package bundle. (Nor do I see the Steelport gangs pack.)
Just saw this post. Don't worry, the Steelport Gangs pack is not listed, but included.
Portal 2 or Dragon Age ultimate edition?
It's like choosing between beloved children, but DA:OUE wins on content. Probably even if you factor in the custom levels for Portal 2.
so is the saints row 3 dlc worth paying the $7.50 for the complete pack?
Collectively I'd value it at $5. Double that if you have a customization fetish.

It's truly a glorious way to take someone down. The humiliation!

All this DA:O talk convinced me to drop it in my cart, but Steam doesn't want me to checkout I guess. Anyone else having purchasing issues right now?

Edit: nm. Removing and adding back to cart worked.

Are the Daily Deals, Flash Sales and Community Picks being listed by anyone? Just need to doublecheck whether Magic 2013 was already a DD, because it's up for Community Pick.

The Retribution DLC is all color-schemes and insignias and wargear for the various faction leaders. There are no story/mission DLCs.

The DLC is basically multiplayer stuff. If you really are going to be doing Last Stand multiplayer then consider it. If not then just grab the base $7.50 retribution.

So, I'm kind of interested in TWD due to all the critical acclaim/GoTY etc., but I'm unsure whether to buy it now. If it is a flash deal now, is it possible that it will be featured as a daily deal later for a lower price? Or would it be the same price if it was a daily later? Is there a precedent for this?

Also, I'm torn on SR3 Complete package. I beat the game on PS3 after it released and sold it afterwards, then got the base game again in the THQ bundle. A couple of the story DLC looks interesting, along with a few of the extra packs. Only the 3 story DLC come in the 5.00 season pass, so for 2.50 more I could get the 15 other wep/vehicle/customization DLC. But I hate paying 7.50 for the complete pack just for the DLC when I already have the base game not even installed on Steam. Is the base game giftable if you already own it? Ugh, decisions, decisions...

thank god binary domain is 75% off it was just showing up as 50% off and I was about to flip out 75% off is a good deal though buying it for sure

Not sure if this was mentioned already, but I just checked my Indie Royale Alpha Collection Bundle and realized that a Steam key for Towns was added. Just a heads up for anyone who bought the bundle. ;)

TWD: Buy it now, but from Gamefly. Using the HOLIDAY20 code it is $10. It activates on Steam so there is no difference other than price.

I am in literally the EXACT SAME boat I have no idea what to do some of the weapon and vehicle dlc look pretty great why can't they just have all the dlc for $5

Just sort of an FYI if someone wants Binary Domain and Viking and Condemned and Hell Yeah and Aliens Vs Predator (does anyone actually want AvP?) then Amazon is bringing back the Sega Action Pack for $20 all Steam keys starting on Christmas.

Also gets you yet another $5 off voucher for 'the best of 2012' games in January.
Someone talk me out of SFII:AE please...
why, you're just going to buy it anyway. you want it, you need it, add to cart and purchase now...
