I have a theory that the Summer Sale will start July 2nd. I know it's a bit early for speculation but I have two coupons that expire on July 1st.
It is silly how much I still look forward to the biannual sales even though lately Steam is getting its ass handed to it by Amazon, the bundle sites, and GMG. Can't help it...after all these years it's somehow gotten ingrained into me.

To anybody who bought the Humble weekly Alan Wake sale: Was any of the Humble exclusive extras any good?
I already owned the whole franchise on Steam, and couldn't tell if any of it was worth rebuying it.

The extras were awesome. I'll list all the extras as they are listed.

 • Early Alan Wake Demos(video)
 • Harry Garrett Show
 • Making Of Videos
 • Writer in the Cabin Clips
 • Night Springs Episodes
 • Balance Slays The Demon Music Video
 • Alan Wake "The Movie"(full playthrough of game broken into 6 episodes)
 • The Library of Concept Art and production photos
 • Alan Wake Score Sheet Music
 • Alan Wake Screenplays
 • Alan Wake Visual Identity Guidelines
 • The Alan Wake Files Book
 • Alan Wake wallpapers
 • Cardboard Cutouts
 • Night Springs Comic Book
 • Psycho Thriller Comic Book

Well worth it, especially considering it's on top of 2 games with their own OSTs. Really the only thing that could have made it sweeter would have been the inclusion of the Bright Falls episodes, but I think those weren't included due to some legal mumbo jumbo with Microsoft. I'm not 100% sure though.

That's what I wanted most. I have nice HD versions on my Xbox account. Maybe I can download them and rip them off the drive onto my PC. The only other way to get them that I know of is downloading from YouTube with that huge Machinima watermark.

edit: Remembered I could download with the Windows 8 video app. I still wish it was available as the entire 30 minute thing rather than in chunks. Now to get it running outside of that player...

I did it May 21st.
i still fire up NO MERCY from time to time and wonder, scientifically, why the peoples elbow would hurt more than a regular elbow drop?
It's the same reason that Randy Savage was the only one who could drop an elbow from the top rope -- it's simply a slice of life. For example, I've always been able to execute a superior irish whip but I'm average at everything else.
A really old favorite of mine (albeit a little cartoony) was Saturday Night Slam Masters
Cartoony wrestling? Now I've heard it all, and I'm deaf.

I still enjoy them because of the massive selection of discounted gems that otherwise would have me waiting several months for a sale by another site. The Mahjong Quest collection, and others, is something for which I'm not holding my peyote-scented breath.
Amazon is launching an Indie game store next week and to celebrate they will put a 5 and 10 game bundle on sale for $10 each. The bundles haven't been finalized yet but Tony posted a complete list of the games that might end up being on it.

see Tony's post here --->http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10753767&postcount=11488
Seeing Stealth Bastard on that list makes me feel like it's most definitely the Groupees bonus game. Just a gut feeling though.

So with the recent influx of funds to my Steam Wallet, I was wondering. Can you split the payment between Steam Wallet and a credit card? For example, I have $11.74 in my wallet. If I bought something for $11.99, would I be able to use all of my wallet funds and then pay the remaining .25 with a credit card or paypal?

I'm surprised that trading cards on the marketplace seem to have kept about the same value ever since I got involved in them over a week ago. I thought that the TF2 cards in particular would start dropping but they're still hovering around 40 cents each.

Yup you get the rare 34 cents and below card, but they seem to average around 40. I thought the more people they add the price would actually continue to drop specifically for TF2 but it doesn't seem to be that way

It hasn't really been that long, and the TF2 cards were selling for more the first day and a half or so.

I meant I've been a cheap ass and only buying cards when they are less then 34 cents lol! Might as well get to steam level 10 and hopefully get foils for games I won't play yet or aka idle in until I am level 10, which would be more profit in the end.

That's what I'm trying to do too... but I'm relatively new to Steam, so I didn't have all those old badges. Only level 5.

I'm hoping the TF2 cards drop to 20 cents or less. Otherwise I've gotta drop like $13 to get to level 10... I've made $15 from selling my cards so far, but I'm not sure I wanna waste it all just for the prospect of foils, lol.

I'm in the same boat, level 6 only, but the investment in Level 10 should pay off with one foil and with more games added do you really want to have to wait until next summer and winter sales for the hope they add new badges?

Same I am too cheap to invest the $14 ish dollars on the TF2 cards to get the last 4 levels I need. So at the rare occasion the cards drop less than $34 cents I will pick one up. Snagged an Engineer card for 15 cents earlier on pure luck.

PS. I hate you Idiotekque y u reemov me frum steeeeeem!

And this summer sale badge should be here soon I hope here is to mid june maybe? More than likely July though.

The foil cards are far from guaranteed though. At level 10, I've exhausted all my drops and didn't get a single foil.

I think I'll go time travelling to about 2 years from now -- when gold foils have already been replaced by shimmering platinum foils -- to offer people $1 for their foils. I'll have to turn some people away though, because even my generosity has limits.

I'll pop back in to the present and become the next Pablo Escobar.

Yeah, but let's say another game gets approved, you get a foil right when the craze is at the highest, and get a ton of money. You'll get all your money back with just one.

Yeah, I may at least wait for the Summer sale. Maybe they'll have a couple badges to make the trip to level 10 cheaper.

I missed a Gaige for 24 cents yesterday.

And wat. I never even had you in my friends list, lol. I never remove anybody. You can add me again.

My thoughts exactly. Gambling at its finest.

For what it's worth, I was level 12 as soon as I got access to the trading card beta and I've collected all my cards from Borderlands 2, TF2, Don't Starve, HL2 and Portal 2 and didn't get a single foil and sold 'em all. Spending money just to get level 10 just for a chance at foils seems like a bad idea unless you're close enough it'd only be a dollar or two at most.

Yeah, which is why I'm only willing to pay $5 or less for level 10. It'll still be fun to get some emotes and backgrounds (which I'll probably just sell, because I really don't like TF2), but really I'm doing it just for the ability to be able to get holos. Since they go for like $15 minimum, it's not a terrible gamble. I think that one CAG here got two holos...

It feels like I'm too short to ride the cool roller coaster.
People here not members of the level 10 club? You mean you don't have the robe? Tsk tsk tsk?
Mine's cashmere, it's classy yet understated.

Looking forward to hitting level 15 so I can get the butler.

Hey, even if Amazon has better deals, GMG has better deals, whatever, it's still nice to know that Steam is trying to compete and make Amazon, GMG, etc compete for my dollar.

Just to go back to the wrestling game chat for a minute, one game that I liked (and was far better than it should've been) was Def Jam Vendetta. It should've been awful and wasn't.

The follow-ups (Fight for NY, Icon) weren't anywhere near as good though.

The Def Jam games were actually made by AKI also, the same people who made the N64 wrestling games.
Now they make Style Savvy games....

Yes def jam vendetta was great! I need an n64 emu. Does the wii sell these games like older Nintendo games? I'd buy a shitty wii just for that

The other retailers are definitely trying their best to draw off some of Valve's business! But as for Valve trying, I honestly don't feel like they are that much anymore. The only game I bought from them last winter sale was Sleeping Dogs, and that was a price mistake. And I only had 150 games at the time, not a massive collection like others here. Since then I've picked up well over 50 games, again, I think none directly off of Steam. And that's not even counting the ones I haven't yet activated.

I suspect Valve is happy with the user base it has now and is trying just hard enough to stay on top, which is not that difficult when you've got this big a lead. I think they're concentrating on supplanting consoles foremost, and making Steam a more attractive platform through incentives like the new profile/card trading system. Maybe making some games too - jshackles? Although I guess none with a 3 in them. Whatever they're doing, they certainly aren't having any sales on the scale of the $10 bundles at Amazon or six Telltale adventures for $1!!

GMG has the newly released Call of Juarez: Gunslinger at 25% off. I assume it stacks with 20% off coupon GMG20-JLKSA-7A8HA but can't say for sure because this deal is Europe only, which I guess means non-US Steam key as well. Still, if you're in Europe or want to jump through some hoops and can't wait to play this game I guess it might be tempting.

Anybody know what the deal is with Ubisoft making these budget titles of late? Gunslinger and Blood Dragon are both MSRP at $14.99 USD. Is this the future of digital downloads (smaller, niche titles with sub-seven-figure development budgets) or is Ubi just trying to squeeze every dollar it can out of existing IPs? From what I've seen of it, Blood Dragon looks like the sort of game that would probably normally retail around this pricepoint (retro shooter), but I know nothing about Gunslinger.
Same here. I didn't get a single foil card either. They're really rare - hence the price - and it's probably not a good investment to sink money into the system just to get to level 10 on the remote chance you get a foil card.

I assume it has to do with next gen development. Those games seem like they'd be costly and they'd have their big teams working on them. In the meantime they put out these smaller scope games reusing a lot of what they created for previous games (at least for Blood Dragon) to bring in some money when there aren't a lot of big releases hitting the market.

I started Blood Dragon last night and have enjoyed it so far. Gunslinger sounds like it turned out well. I'd much rather play 3 focused well made games that retail for $15 than 1 $60 title that's 3x the length.
Just to go back to the wrestling game chat for a minute, one game that I liked (and was far better than it should've been) was Def Jam Vendetta. It should've been awful and wasn't.

The follow-ups (Fight for NY, Icon) weren't anywhere near as good though.
Goodness the first one was so good! Sunk so man hours into it on PS2. Fight for NY, while a little different, was still pretty good. Icon took it an entirely different direction, and while I was initially super excited about the music element, the game overall was just so so.
While we're back on trading card things, if anyone has a TF2 Medic background, lemme know, I want one. :p
I have one. What background would you trade for it?
i never tried the firepro series but might check it out if i can find one on ebay for cheap

i still fire up NO MERCY from time to time and wonder, scientifically, why the peoples elbow would hurt more than a regular elbow drop?
Because it belongs to the PEOPLE.

I really loved all the Smackdown games up to #5 (Here Comes The Pain). WWE/2K should really release a classic style game (not Wrestlefest) and on PC too!

But I want Wrestlefest :(

Scout.

I main Medic and Engie so I kinda hate Scout. :p

I was messing with the cards last night and then realized that I was putting far too much effort into something with far less return than my per hour income at work... and spending my recreational time doing it.

"Woooo... I spent an hour getting a card and selling it for $4!" :applause:

So I figure I'll just take whatever cards may come my way via normal game play and sell 'em and not worry about the rest or trying to use this as a money-making scheme.

Alright. Demoman would be my preference, but since I have two medics - and Scout's not the Sniper (do not like) - that's a step up. :)

Speaking of cards, anyone else frustrated that you have to switch back and forth between your inventory and the marketplace to see what cards you need to complete your set?

Me too. So the next version of Enhanced Steam fixes that :)

Deal. You should be getting an invite from Foxhack.

Edit: AND SNIPER IS AWESOME OKAY. THE PEE GUN IS THE BEST THING EVER.

Thanks. I think you're probably God.

Is there a way to check the current market value of cards etc. at the inventory screen? I listed all mine recently and needed 2 tabs: 1 to search for what it's worth and 1 for my inventory where there's a sell button.

If I'm not missing something then this is my suggestion.
I have a theory that the Summer Sale will start July 2nd. I know it's a bit early for speculation but I have two coupons that expire on July 1st.

Also No Mercy was and still is the shit. Something about how AKI just made those games were phenomenal. WCW vs NWO World Tour, WCW vs NWO Revenge and WWF No Mercy, oh man those were the days. I haven't watched wrestling in roughly 12 years. Maybe longer.
Oh I hope not. I leave for vacation on the 5th and will have to annoy my friends again by monitoring everything from free wifi spots. I need that stinkin' Summer Sale badge so I can get closer to joining the level 10 club!

Speaking of badges, is there a list of Steam trading cards somewhere so I know what I might need for each participating game? My searches have turned up nothing.
