Don't play much online multiplayer stuff but my experiences are as follows:

TF2 - very accommodating, players of all ability seemingly welcome.
L4D2 - friendly players but so so so quick to boot anybody who isn't "skilled" enough. Last experiences have put me off playing with randoms.
Killing Floor - surprisingly helpful, or outright silence. Think the co-op nature of it helps in this regard.
CS:GO - never had problems even though I suck. Think all of the "pro" players stick to the "realistic" modes, leaving randoms like me to run around shooting barrels/walls/anythingbutotherplayers.
Chivalry - bad at weekends, ran into a few gobby kids who just would not shut up. Haven't played in a while so may have improved.
War of the Roses - not enjoyable, full of grumpy sods who PROBABLY AREN'T EVEN FROM YORKSHIRE.

So, daily deal for Bully. Never played before on console but thinking about picking it up. $3.75 seems like a solid price, and I doubt it will get cheaper. Even the Amazon Rockstar bundle isn't cheaper if all the games were on sale 75% off.

Any input?

I havent played Killing Floor in months, but when I used to play, people were always nice...in my experience anyway. League of Legends has a crap ton of player-to-player abuse, but you can always just mute people.
I edited my post to clarify my point (that TF2 - a free game - has a reasonable community, similar to some paid games such as Killing Floor.)

The KF community is still one of the best of any game that I've played in almost a decade, although I do think that it's slowly going downhill.

Sir_Fraggalot, if you pay full price, it's going down on your permanent record.

It's an enjoyable game without direct peers. A few people report technical issues. I've never run into problems.

Hands down my favorite Rockstar game, I highly recommend it if you want a humorous and unique open world game :)

It's been slightly cheaper in a GMG pack with Manhunt for $5.. Of course you'd have to sell off Manhunt.. but I considered that to be a better deal.

Just saw on SD that Steam has Sonic Hits Collection for $30, which according to the OP normally sells for $40. Do you guys think it'll get any cheaper than that anytime soon?

Agreed on Killing Floor. I've always had really good experiences with the MP community in that game as long as you're joining a level-appropriate server. KF is highly dependent upon perk levels for success and lower-level players joining Nightmare and HOE servers is seen as trolling.

L4D2 was great for me at the very beginning (L4D moreso), but there are too many people that take it far too seriously that I no longer consider it a truly "friendly" community.

Looks like the MSRP dropped.. so yes, we'll definitely see it cheaper, probably will be cheaper during the summer sale.

It's amazing to me that so many years later they are still adding content to KF and not just new levels, but game modes to.  Anyone who is interested should try it tomorrow when it is free for the weekend.

I've never found any issue with the MP and this is despite me totally trolling (unintentionally) early on by joining servers I had no business being in.  There's also a nice little group of CAGs who are happy to do a little achievement hunting during these events.  I had a blast playing with them during the Christmas event.

Before I get too excited about the next Humble Weekly, it'll probably be Toki Tori + Rush + Edge:

My experience with Bully on PC was not good. I got about 3 hours in before giving up because I had audio issues. It wasn't fading sounds that were further away so everything sounded as loud as everything else. Everything was a loud mess that made it difficult to follow the main dialog.

IIRC I also had a significant amount of other little issues as well. I personally can't recommend what would otherwise been an entertaining game.

How dare he!

OH.

Since it should be mentioned here, but hasn't...

GameFly has a 20% code GFDJUL20 which makes it's Skyram(bo) sale attractive...

Skyrim Legendary @ $32
Skyrim @ $16
Skyrim - Dragonborn @ $8
Skyrim - Dawnguard @ $8
Skyrim - Hearthfire @ $2
...I'm considering finally picking up Dragonbord and Dawnguard.

The discount doesn't work for the DLC, so they are 10, 10, and 2.50

I was tempted by Legendary, but I think there is a chance it will go 50% at Steam, so $30. Hoping for but not expecting a 66% or 75% sale

I never had an issue in TF2 with people being annoying. I put in a good 15 hours or so a few weeks ago and didn't come across a single person that annoyed me.

I found most of the Skyrim DLC to be meh. By the time I played it I was over 120 hours in and was pretty much getting to the point of not really wanting to play anymore, though.

War of the Roses - not enjoyable, full of grumpy sods who PROBABLY AREN'T EVEN FROM YORKSHIRE.
TF2 - pretty much agree, very friendly community

L4D2 - very fun game, easy to pick up and play. I never had problems with other players booting me, my experience with multiplayer matches has been very enjoyable.

Killing Floor - I played this game once a long time ago, the gameplay didn't flow as smoothly as L4D2 (which I was playing a lot when I tried this game) so I never got back to playing it again

CS:GO - by far my favorite MP game on this list, I have logged in hundreds of hours into it and expect to play hundreds more. Very hard game for beginners, therefore the first 10-20 hrs will not be fun, expect to die a lot. If you stick with it though it becomes a little bit easier as you learn the ins and outs of the maps and how to use the weapons.

Chivalry - I have this game, but I have yet to play it.

War of the Roses - got in the beta, never learned how to properly use the horse or how to be a good archer but I loved playing as a knight or whatever that class was called and laying waste to people with my longsword. This reminds me I should probably play the full release now.

The Walking Dead 400 Days dlc is out on Steam now for $5.
(I'm selling it for $4.5 btw)
I've heard it's only about 1 1/2 hours long so I'll wait for a decent sale.

EDIT: It's also available on GamersGate. You can get it for $3.99 if you have the 20% off discount.

However, I found the "correct" way to play. It tries to be a game in the word of HK cinema... play it like a HK cinema hero/anti-hero. Play it with controller... melee when appropriate, for the shooting segments abuse the bullet-time mechanic. It feels so much better when playing it like that rather than cover-shooter or non-bullet-time run & gun.
I tried. . . I guess I'm just not that good at getting head or tire shots. :twoguns:

I just got to the final boss and got my ass kicked 10 times in a row. IT HURTS SO GOOD BUY IT
Really? I didn't think the game was too difficult. NG+ is harder because everything is tier 3 enemy wise with a lot of health. If I run into a constant stream of tier 4 enemies, I may be screwed.

^^The trick to playing with nice communities is find friendly, mature players and send them a friend request. It makes black ops 2 zombies enjoyable over on the consoles.

The KB/M controls aren't bad at all anyway. Yeah they're a little awkward to melee with at first, but I got used to the controls within 30 minutes of playtime.. It's not like there are many melee combinations in Sleeping Dogs, it's all pretty easy to memorize and use with KB/M.

DEAR GOD, it got even cheaper? For gods sake, Sonic Racing Transformed alone costs the same as the bundle!

Still, even considering that this is one of the best deals on Steam, there is absolutely no harm in waiting for an even better deal during the Summer sale. Since this is a MSRP drop and not a sale, it very well could happen.

Shots: They've been fired.

I thought the final boss was a bit too easy myself.  I one-shotted him.   NG+ can really be stupid hard on occassion.  I'm half-way through NG+ but I think I'm going to shelve it for awhile.  I got my moneys worth.

Not sure if I missed someone saying this already but a Steam key is now listed for Bleed in your Retro Groupee's bundle.

I put almost 10 hours into The Black Pits.
10 hours into an arena mode with 16 (?) repetitive fights in a row? That's the first time I've heard that take on it (the longest I've heard someone putting into it is 6 hours doing it solo).

I'm sure plenty of that was paused time due to Baby McShitface
Once again, am I the only one worried about that child's safety?

Not to start a console v. PC flame war, but it seems to me that outside of MOBAs, anecdotally speaking at least, the worst communities seem to be in console shooters.
Ironically, console shooter communities aren't really that bad. For one, they're mostly silent, and two, they can be pretty funny. When I played L4D2 on Xbox, okay, they were horrendous. In all my old CoD days (*shudder*) the experience was usually fine enough. You'd get the occasional 9-year-old mouthing off, but that's what mute is for.

And I always found Halo games to have a pretty good community. Back when me and my friends would play together and meet random people online, it was always pretty amusing. Like the time we met this chick who teamed up with us who had the thickest southern accent you've ever heard, telling us how she was "Freezing my ass off down here in Kentucky", it was humorous.

I had a blast playing with them during the Christmas event.
Oh yeah, we actually made that fancy weapon, didn't we?

My experience with Bully on PC was not good. I got about 3 hours in before giving up because I had audio issues. It wasn't fading sounds that were further away so everything sounded as loud as everything else. Everything was a loud mess that made it difficult to follow the main dialog.

IIRC I also had a significant amount of other little issues as well. I personally can't recommend what would otherwise been an entertaining game.
Bully is one of the worst Rockstar ports out there (that's saying a lot). There's a laundry list of problems that people run into. Some people run into no problems at all, while others run into problems that are impossible or near impossible to fix.

You're really just flipping a coin on that game. Personally, I'm sick of giving Rockstar money for their horrible lack of attention to the PC.

If you one-shotted him than you waited WAAAAAAAAAAAY too long to fight him. He'll take at least 100 hits to be killed by me.

I loved Bully. Gamepad support is spot-on, but if I recall right, when hubby was playing, keyboard controls sucked hard. I want to say the game may have even shown 360 controller options/button prompts even with KBM enabled -- when his 360 controller was NOT how he was playing. It's a poor port to PC that way, but if you're playing with controller, you'll be happy.
I had one issue with this game on PC, it doesn't support my 16:10 resolution so I have to change my resolution in the video card settings before starting up the game. Not that big a deal but still a pain in the ass. I should also mention that I only played a few missions.

FInally they added Steam cards to another game I own, Alan Wake!

Idiot is right, more properly, I killed him in one-try. I did however probably take too long to fight him. It still took a ton of hits to go down.

Ahhh. I see. Well, I got it in my head that I should be the dragon to beat him and that isn't working out so well when the swords start flying up from below. Then again, I did beat the third and fourth boss and then fight him all in one sitting so I was suffering pretty heavy "I need to put this game down for a little bit" fatigue

That's one of the crappier classes in my opinion give me an assassin, barb, or shinobi any day! To a lesser extent paladin.
It's pretty effective for the rest of the posses though, especially the darkness boss. I personally prefer Lich King + Vampire cape, Barbarian King or a Spellsword. I didn't use magic at all until I got Spellsword -- if you get the right spell you can basically be invincible.

Lich King caps out early, I used it with Vamp for awhile but there's a cap on HP gained, which is BS (the cap is also relatively low).  Vamp in general gets kind of worthless quick.  Even if you stack the hell out of it by NG+ it's not worth it.

Barb King and Hokage are easily my favorites.  The Hokage special makes the final fight very easy - same with Barb King except you just eat hits like a champ.   I don't think I had Dragon for any of the other bosses - I can see it working very well for the blob.

Question for you guys. What's the closest games that replicate the traditional dungeons and dragons traditional rules and setting? I'm not talking just current, but old games or series too such as from GOG if it's not on steam. I owned the advanced D&D set when eons ago and was wondering if there's anything with the same feel that's primarily single player and not too complicated.
