Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

Thats so weird because i saw a 12 month XBL card and thought "since its xbox maybe its on clearance"....checked the price and it was still 49.99 >.

I have a friend that worked undercover LP for Wal-Mart for a couple of years. Man he had some wild stories. Surprisingly, he said the demographic that steals the most is old ladies. Said they would always be lifting cosmetics, gossip magazines and little stuff that doesn't cost much. Crazy.

4x4 Monster Truck w/ Wheel for Wii eludes me yet again. The clerk said when most Target have clearence that they start south in the city and make their way north to clear items out. Being my Store is the northmost store I just thought. WTF he say?
 
Got a 'out of system' :ds: Viewtiful Joe Saturday in Warrenville, IL for $4.98

They still had a half dozen or so left and none of them had price stickers on them!!

Target clearance usually goes 30% - 50% - 70% (or is it 75%??).

So for me, if my Target dropped the price, it will end up being $14.98... I'll have to wait another week or two or maybe even three for Target to drop it to $7.48.

My Target didn't have many copies of Hitman Blood Money at all, so I'll snag it at $14.98.
 
Awesome mine has 1 copy of star wars republic commando, so i will probably do the same when it hits $14.98. Ive been looking for that one for a good while. Thanks

Yeah, Shrike I wondered how I beat you to that one as I'm rarely at that Target more than once every few months. It was right there with the other 360 stuff including other types of Live cards, not hiding at all, not marked clearance or anything. I thought when I scanned it something was goofy--it had a sticker on top of the original UPC, and that price doesn't match with a normal clearance price I don't think. It rang up on the receipt as "Johnsons".

It wasn't the "original" original even though it looks like it because it acknowledges the fact it is compatible with the 360 and doesn't have an expiration date. Yes I loaded it successfully this morning before somebody from Target called me and wanted it back.

Wait, is this on clearance now? #-o. I just traded for this a few weeks back and made the comment at the time that it will probably be on clearance at Target soon. I didn't expect it THIS soon though! And I know the closest store to me has several of them. Damn, I traded a $7.50 game too (RC will probably hit $4.98 easily enough). (Edit - unless you are talking PC here and not Xbox, in which case, never mind ;)).

Roufuss - yes, the final clearance is 75% (though some stores occasionally go to 90%). $30 games will end up $7.48, $20 games $4.98, etc...

Chior - I assume he was joking, saying he used it before the possibility of someone from Target calling him ;). I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that deal is massively YMMV, as he said it had a new UPC sticker and rang up "Johnsons". Sounds like he got it via the UPC of Johnson's Baby Shampoo or something :rofl:. Maybe someone did a switcheroo and then forgot to buy it. That's wierd though - more likely just a massive employee tagging mistake.
 
Just noticed a new Star War bundle that includes Empire at War, republic commando, Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Outcast, and Battlefront for $39.99. Hope that will go on clearance soon.
 
I picked up:

Hitman Blood Money $14.98
Dark Messiah Might and Magic $9.98
and a lonely Medal of Honor Allied Assault for $4.98 (I've never played it :shock:)

I've had games come up as different products a few times from Target. Have no idea what causes it. It's goofy as shit.

I dont know the exact value, but I sold a 12 month kit for $35-40 about 6 months ago, might be worth grabbing to trade or sell.

But for everyone else, check to see if your Target has the xbox live 360 launch title kit. I didn't note the sku, but the games pictured were as I say, earlier 360 titles.
 
Just to help the 0 CAGs I have ever encountered around Bloomington, IN and those new to the area, NEVER presume that the clearance titles will ever go down as much in price to reach the "X.X4" level. Almost all of the titles are either sold by then, in the case of worthwhile ones, or they will be sent off to Goodwill after the second week of a price drop, which tends to be around the 2nd-lowest price you find in this thread, sometimes 3rd-lowest.

Be aware of these facts and pick up a desired title when necessary! It won't be massively low but the prices do tend to be in the "OH YEAH!!" range nonetheless. Just realize that you have very little clearance competition around here since more people care about huge releases and console launches, which is understandable. ;D

Gwen, was that the kit with 200 MS points, the 12-month card, a headset, and a code for Bankshot Billiards? That one went to $15 a month or so ago and then probably went out of the system. That must be extremely rare to find at this point. They all disappeared from here when they hit $45. Fortunately I grabbed one and was able to price adjust not once, but TWICE, and ended up getting it for $14.98. Well, it wasn't a price adjust, but a return/repurchase, which I have had back luck with previously. But the fact that I was able to do that on the Live kit means I am DESTINED to get one of the Xbox 360 Elite's :lol:. As you say, they expire end of June, so I need to have an 360 by then. I got a second kit at Kmart for $24. So I have 2 years of Live, 500 MS points, Bankshot Billeards, and 2 headsets for all of $39. That definitely makes paying $480 for the Elite not so bad...

Has anyone seen price drops to new levels this week, or is this an off week? I'm wondering if it is worth venturing WAY out to the one store where I found Chicken Little for $19.98 last week (hoping to get it for $9.98).
 
IO, how did you go about getting them to let you return/rebuy that? I'm in the exact same position with a kit I got. I hate to alert them to the fact that it's on such a great clearance while attempting to rebuy it and then have them stash it for a friend or whatnot. Thanks.

Well, problem is it is now most likely out of the system. If it still scans $15 on the floor scanners you can give it a shot. I just approached it by saying I heard it had dropped in price and wanted to see if I could get an adjustment. They looked it up and verified that. Then they tried to adjust but it wouldn't let them (because it is a clearance item). The one time I thought I was going to be shot down, but she asked if it would be OK if she just returned it and resold it to me. I was like "Yeah, sure, that's fine" :rofl:. Funny thing is it ended up being an adjustment on my card anyway because they just refunded the difference. I had tried that in the past with a game or two and got rejected. So it depends on the employee. But you can always come back and try a different person some other time ;).
 
I didn't see a trade list for this clearance, so please direct me if one exists.

I'm just wondering if anyone finds extra XBOX 360 or DS clearance games at Target, and is willing to pick them up, please send me a pm.

GAHHH!! All the Targets by me that have DOAX2 in stock still have them at their original price in the system. :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:

Damn person responsible for dropping the prices should get a punch to the face...anyhoo...if someone finds an extra $15 copy, I'll pay for the shipping and hassle if they would be so kind to grab me a copy.

For that price, i want one too. ;) didnt see it at target though... but prey was for 14.98 so got the last one.

I'll keep my eye out for DOAX2. Could someone do me a favor and show me where to print out barcodes? I think it's in the thread somewhere, but I'm not sure where to look. I'd rather be able to scan a barcode than have to have someone take the game out from behind the glass.

That's how I do it doc005 and it works like a charm. I find it comical when employees and people around me stair at me while I scanning my sheet of paper:p

I'm always a bit nervous when doing that, actually. One time I was doing that at TRU when they has some YMMV clearance prices. Apparently I was reported to the manager by an employee on the floor and she came up and confronted me about it. Fortunately I was able to show her a particular game that was mistagged and how my UPC sheet showed it to be lower.

I guess they thought I was from a spy from a competitor or something and trying to get all their pricing info? I really don't know what they thought I could be up to, but it sure seemed to rile them up.
 
Aw man, you mean to tell me games in the cases might be cheaper than the price listed under them? I was wondering why I never found any of the deals you guy's have been talking about (except Gunpey DS for $7.xx). Lame
